We test drove a Wagoneer yesterday and we were impressed at how smooth the standard output twin turbo was . Overall, a very nice full size SUV .
Was this done in a high altitude area? If so, that would make sense. Motorweek tested the 2023 Grand Wagoneer 0-60 mph in 4.9 sec; 1/4 mile in 13.5 sec@104 mph. Plus I test drove a Grand Wagoneer, and that thing moves out really well for a big SUV. I live in sea level altitude area.
Yes, he is in Utah which is ~4300ft of elevation in the SLC valley.
You aren't gonna lose 2 seconds due to 4000 ft. I moved from 1200 ft to an area that ranges from 5000 ft to 7500 ft and have had multiple different cars back and forth (only a 4 hour drive) and tested at both places with my Dragy. I'm currently doing custom flex tuning on my Golf for the elevation. 4.9 is a tall order for a GW even at sea level and 0° air. Its 500 hp and 6000 lbs. My Z06 was 400 hp and 3000 lbs and it did 4.5 average at the low elevation location.
I highly doubt that, motortrend isnt known to be accurate.
Good video and I was interested in this comparison.
I think I drove the base 3.0tt the other day. It pulls harder at 2500 rpm than my Avalon does at nearly 4k rpm.
There also wasn’t a noticeable instance in which I was asking for power that I wasn’t getting (turbo lag)
How is the standard output 4mph faster in the 1/8th?
Rear end gearing and weight?
Wow you’re a lot slower than TFL and they’re 1000 ft above sea level. They did spool up, in 4wd and sport mode.
Might sell more if they made reg cab short box
Tbh I work for Chrysler and love the single cab short box. No one bought them. They sat around lots for years. They were like 19 grand new. Diff styles up to a Hemi 4x4. Very hard to sell but one of my favourite combos for a 2wd
Was expecting 500+ hp to move around 5.5 0-60
3 ton vehicle bro…
@@NCMEDIC2165
@@NCMEDIC216I don’t know why you would think I’m unaware of that. This is what drives me crazy about the internet everyone thinks they’re smarter or know more than everybody else. TRX is heavier and does 3.9. 5.5 is a reasonable expectation
@@johnmorris77 tbh the trx has 2 more cylinders and more torque and is more than likely tuned better for power /hard launches(know the fanbase) vs fuel economy car that's more likely to be a daily like the wagoneer.
@@carboydorifutoparty3976so what? This is supposed to be the highest performing engine that's not a hellcat engine. There should be at least a little bit of performance to be found in the top tier non hellcat version
So my '89 Dodge Van B250 360 with a bed and table ran a 10.12 in the 1/8 mile....
540/520 ho 420/469 regular hurricane ...also try letting us know which rear axle ratio each truck has !!!! all important info
At that HP and TQ, they should be worlds faster than that crap regardless of the ratio. Hilarious engines. 😂😂😂
this thing would make a great artificial reef someday. why do you cut out the 1/4 mile?
He doesn’t know what he doing! U gotta break torque it!😮😂
I bet these had 87 octane in them
wow, the torque comes on late (high in the RPM Range) compared to other 6cyl turbos
Was this test done in colorado or somewhere with high altitude? I swore the HO hurricane could even give the escalade V a run for its money but according to the test even fords ecoboost gots it beat 🤷🏻♂️
Yes in Utah which is ~4300ft of elevation
There no way 0-30 was that slow. Over 4 seconds would be slower than anything else out on the road. Def very high elevation and no brake boost.
Wouldn't make much a difference. Its a big heavy truck meant to tow you cant expect much from it when it comes to 0-60...
@DeathhAngel1 yes you can actually. Look at everyone else's stats he just can't get off the line. It has the power for a 2.4 0-60. Obviously he's having traction issues. Everyone else has it at 5 seconds to 6 seconds flat.
@@occckid123 i havent seen 1 video with a dragy proving that yet. Link one please
@DeathhAngel1 that doesn't matter at this point. He's over 4000ft above sea level apparently, and you ban sew his take off is trash. Just need a better driver
@@occckid123 elevation doesn't really matter if the truck has turbos. That only hurts NA engines. His takeoff was perfect wym? Its a truck without launch control, even if he had a better takeoff its not gonna shave 2 whole seconds off a 0-60 or quarter mile, thats just unrealistic.
Remember this a heavy ass suv, so fuckin heavy that I saw one flip making a turn around a curb in a Fry’s parking lot. It was a Grand Wagoneer brand new, lady was driving, smashed the whole right side all the airbags deployed it was crazy. Why you need that much power in a vehicle designed like that I will never know.
Then it going to be the same ones that complain ain't got enough power
@@speedyme200 they need to make better choices, bet that shit failed the moose test
Why is the high output one slower ? That's piss poor performance , nice and quiet though .
The HO is only .30 faster than the regular hurricane. LOL.😂😂😂
That’s slower than a hemi
Trust me I'd it was side by side that hemi is getting smoked .
Rpm and psi not rpm’s and psi’s
Combine two of these into a 6.0 liter inline 12 making twice as much💪lol
26 lbs of boost from factory is crazy
Pretty high for a gas motor! My Passat tdi makes 26 pounds of boost.. It's a diesel of course but that's on a tune not stock! 26 in a gas motor out of the factory is nuts
@@DarkAttack14my fusion 2.0 ecoboost hits 26 psi tuned on e85😈 can only hold it momentarily tho, down to 23-24 by 5700 rpm.
@@Steve-lj7ft yeah probably a turbo sizing issue, mines out of steam by 4250 lmfao. But it does make peak torque from 1800-4000 ish which is nice!
Sorry, only a V-8 will do, I don’t buy spade or neutered trucks
Was expecting more, this motor would lose pretty bad in a street light romp to any 6.2 LS or 5.0 Coyote pickup
This is much heavier than those
You still can't afford it so why you talking
Its heavier and not built for racing
There is substantially more weight in the vehicle than the pickups. Watch the Tungsten Ram review with the HO Hurricane. I love the Yote and respect the 6.2 but the Ram is going to eat them alive.
FAFO
Thats pitiful. My 2010 5.7 with an intake, exhaust, and headers did 6.0
In a Grand Wagoneer at 4300ft elevation? ... I doubt that.
😂 Crazy how a less powerful Navigator is faster than the HO Hurricane by over 1 second
fake news, they couldnt get the navigator to start or run long enough for a test. Typical ford!!!Hahahahahahahahahahaha Junk!
@@curtvick2892 dude the Navigator runs 0-60 in 5.9 seconds and the quarter miles at 14.1
@@taurussho86 it was a bit of humor!
the 6.4 is better.
Yeah that’s pretty slow… can’t even beat a Nissan armada lol
How is the grand wagoneer slower than the wagoneer when they're literally the same vehicle and the grand wagoneer has more hp and torque? Video is dumb and you didn't even brake boost.
Both are slow! Must have been on the top of a high mountain!
My 225 slant 6 runs faster than. That
Slower than competition
Meh
They’re both faster than what’s shown in this video. Others have posted runs with it in sport mode while brake boosting and have done much much better numbers. This video was like a grandmas 0-60 run lol.
Nope, just seems slower because hes using a dragy gps which shows the true acceleration. speedometers arent 100% accurate .
@@DeathhAngel1 He didn’t do either of the things I mentioned. They’ve matched anytime I’ve ever compared the speedometer to gps speed.
@@NewEnglandOutdoorsman brake boosting isnt gonna shave 2 whole seconds off a 0-60. What you see here is 98% accurate acceleration.
Slow by today's standards
It’s not designed for racing retard.
