Well, he kind of had a point of those in the social aspect, average people would expect to think of Dodge Challengers as brash and flamboyant items to drive and therefore would automatically assume it would be impractical to have a Challenger as a car to carry friends around. In practice, you can indeed carry an adult or two for a thrill or road trip considering the amount of room there compared to its two competitors which are the Camaro and Mustang, and it's also wide enough for two child seats to fit in.
Exactly. I have to heavily disagree, as they fit very tall adults (6'+). The shot had the front seat back quite a ways. I've had rear passengers and been the rear passenger without issue, the only annoyance is getting in through the coupe door. That and the side pillar means they have no window to look through. THAT is the primary reason they are useless lol. Not the leg room.
Drove the normal Challenger down the West coast of the US in 2017. It was great fun but wanted the V8. Didnt seem that big then but the roads are HUGE. Still want a Hellcat despite the drawbacks in the UK.
I've got a 2017 White Knuckle Hellcat with satin black wrapped bonnet, roof, bootlid and mirrors and white/black 5 spoke 22" wheels. So about the same as this Red Eye. I already had an older Challenger SRT8 I thought I'd never sell, but watching a re-run episode of the Grand Tour with Hammond in the red one in Italy sealed it. A lot of people do remove them though.
I think the widebody scat pack is really the sweet spot. All the looks and extra tires, and still enough power to have fun along with the extra fuel economy compared to a hellcat or demon.
Totally agree. I'd love the Hellcat motor in something 4WD. Here in America we can get those motors in the Durango SUV and Ram TRX pickup truck with 4WD.
I loved this video. Driving through the drive-thru in reverse is brilliant! Also, as an American who lives in Detroit, Incan tell you I NEVER tire of seeing or hearing Challengers. Had a 5.7 RT with I think 370 bhp on holiday in the US last year and that made me smile non stop like a Cheshire Cat. This one at 790 would probably give me a grin big enough to split my cheeks from ear to ear!
While it is true that there are Challengers everywhere here in the US, most of them are the base model, a good bit are the V8 (292, Scat Pack), and then you have a few Hellcats and even fewer of these monsters. I was fortunate enough to spend a day out at Radford (formerly Bondurant) Racing School in Arizona behind the wheel of a Hellcat. It is absurd in the best way possible. The supercharger whine is intoxicating, and in case you doubt Rory on the handling, I can confirm that a car that big and that heavy has no business going around an Autocross course that fast...yet it does.
As a North American, I always drooled over the Vauxhall VXR8 Bathurst. Can’t get those here in Canada 🇨🇦. Those dodges are super common but mostly the cheaper V6 versions.
This car is really fun to drive, but unfortunately it’s almost impossible to own a car like this in most European countries. In the Netherlands you pay a registration tax called bpm. The bpm on this car is €125k! You basically pay the car’s price twice there. In Belgium (Flemish region) you pay ≈ €20k first year and then €6100 annually! In France it’s ≈€54k one time tax. No annual road tax. And then you have the UK with £2605 1st year, £570 for 5 years and then £180. UK petrolheads are so lucky 😔
Say what you will about refinement and all that...the hellcat placed itself in the automotive history books for it's utter absurdity and rawness. It's a car that produces smiles and chills.
I CANNOT BELIEVE they're stocking one in black, in preference to "Plum Krazy" or "Go Mango." Nice to see 14 colors available on this. I didn't like ANY of 5 the colors when ordering my GT-R, and I think my M5 was only available in 6-8.

The Dodge Challenger Hellcat is thee beat modern muscle-car to have existed. Dodge’s “Let’s do it because we can” attitude propelled this car to heights not seen by any car in the modern age. This car set the bar high and had every manufacturer scratching their heads on how to catch-up; this car dominated the new muscle-car age. It will be missed and never forgotten. Had a 5.7 RT with I think 370 bhp on holiday in the US last year and that made me smile non stop like a Cheshire Cat. This one at 790 would probably give me a grin big enough to split my cheeks from ear to ear!
I love my Redeye, the Corsa intake i recently put on really woke up the cars supercharger whine.
392 you meant right?
Why would they be so rare in the US? Is it the price or what? Americans don't seem to care about fuel efficiency and all that crap
This is the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye. That intro alone❤️made my day
I have a Challenger and all the practicality comments really hit home 🫠
As a North American, I always drooled over the Vauxhall VXR8 Bathurst. Can’t get those here in Canada 🇨🇦. Those dodges are super common but mostly the cheaper V6 versions.
Try to find a Pontiac G8 or a Chevy SS. Add a supercharger. Job done. More or less is the same as the VXR.
Beautiful machine! You forgot to remove the packing on the splitter, it’ll scratch the matte paint
One of the greatest cars of the modern era. Will be sorely missed once they're gone. God bless the United States 🇺🇸
Have an almost brand new Shaker Super Track Pak and now waiting for my " Hellcat Jailbreak Lastcall Widebody Challenger"!
UK infrastructure sucks though.
usa is better for cars like this... cant wait to go back
Lmao there's a few for sale near me (northern California) for between $75k and $80k.
what does bpm stand for? just curious. also i would Netherland there in a plane
It stands for Belasting van Personenauto's en Motorrijwielen. So pretty much a car tax
What a sensational machine 🤩
I see these alot in America, but I never get tired of the crazy looks
3:40 the reaction from that McDonald's employee is what this car is all about.
This is definitely a car you get if you want to be noticed.
3:10 "I'm an actual genius" Top Gear energy 😂
Guys in the US and other LHD countries are laughing in their R32/33/34 Skylines
Rory, brilliant on the drive thru! 🍔
Just got a ‘23 Durango Hellcat and I’m lovin’ it 😉
The filming of this video is just perfect 👌
These cars never made sense but i still love them!
Say what you will about refinement and all that...the hellcat placed itself in the automotive history books for it's utter absurdity and rawness. It's a car that produces smiles and chills.
Its hard to imagine how good looking and aggressive this thing is until you look at one from close.
This supercharger noise its just my new alarm clock sound. To this i would wake up with a smile on my face whatever time of a night. ❤
I CANNOT BELIEVE they're stocking one in black, in preference to "Plum Krazy" or "Go Mango." Nice to see 14 colors available on this. I didn't like ANY of 5 the colors when ordering my GT-R, and I think my M5 was only available in 6-8.
Best sounding car I've ever heard❤
Great video as always by Rory
Get a room
Firstly I must admit am a Mustang(generally a Ford) fan but the Challenger is the "image" of muscle car!.whenever you hear muscle car this beast comes to mind!.I love it❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Never thought about the fact that such a car is "Exotic" in Europe... Awesome!
My Barber has a Challenger, I think it's the second maybe 3rd Challenger I've ever seen her in the UK.
Think I've seen one Comaro ever, only right hand drive Mustangs have I seen here fairly frequently.
@@Future-Classic-Cars Wow! That is sooo crazy! I prob pass 1 of each for every mile on the road. Headed to Europe in March, so will be exciting to check the car culture. How are the rules over there regarding emissions?
@@ReallyStrongGuy I'm surprised they're is more in Europe is that because they are LHD? Maybe more space on certain roads, here we're super tight on Emissions on cars 20 years plus, the London ultra Los Emissions zone if fucking everything up for older cars now.
@@Future-Classic-Cars Yeah, me too. Seems like a good way to get a cool, fast car with reasonable cash. No emission issues on new stuff, so maybe import fees?
It is def a pain to park and navigate huge cars, even in open areas got rid of one for that, so prob too much hassle for some people there.
Just came back from the gym, saw a camaro and laughed.
Went for a little drive in our '21 GT the other day and saw 2 F82 M4's, a G82, a roller, and a bentley... only ever seen 3 mustangs... ever 😂 very rare head turner in the UK
Yes I was thinking my zl1 would stand out so much over there as well. Just wide and beastly. Hell....it gets out of eyes here in the states, I could imagine over there in Europe.
Left hand drive. Now even in UK you can drive like normal people around the world
RORY..... you're still the best car reviewer out there at the moment, HOWEVER...... you know Matt Watson from CARWOW reversed through a drive through with a left hand drive first😂 and dude!! You've got an app to listen out for sirens 😮 what the heck man, you should be able to be paying attention to all around you😂
That said. AWESOME REVIEW YET AGAIN. WELL DONE
This was published 11th October. His on the 12th. It’s not an app. The iPhone does it automatically 🙏🏾
Love my redeye charger here in the states, a truly special experience.
Roush supercharger on the 4.6 3v is my all time favorite. My brother used to have a 2008 roush 428r.
Miss that thing. Cars have gone absolutely insane in the past 15 years.
It will possibly be another 30 years before we see another revival of the Challenger, until then….keep those tires smokey!
Challenger: “Was I a good muscle car?”
The world: “No….you were THE BEST muscle-car”
in Texas , never tired of seeing a Hellcat !
I always get a kick out of watching the Brits review our Murican muscle. 😂😂
Rory is the David Attenborough of cars and engines and power
Get a room
My gudness videography is on next level 🙏🏻💪🏻
Love the drive through scene, freaking hilarious.
ngl that reverse in the drive through was smooth
I've been too busy the last few days and I missed my favorite car host The king of Auto cars Rory I've a good cup of tea and here we go 🎉🎉🎉
Reversing through the drive-thru is actually genius
I love my redeye, such a fun car to drive!
I've been driving some type of black 2023 Dodge Challenger base model for a week now. A rental car. Because it was the car they had left. It is worth every extra penny I'm paying for it. I'm enjoying it so much it brought me here. This Hellcat would be insanely cool to drive!
Ive got a black challenger srt and im in UK. I cant fault it and love it in every single way. However, It gets a lot of love from passers by. Which means you do have to pause music at the lights when ppl wana ask u questions.
That is an insane car but agree with Rory, it will turn heads
Most stolen car in US
I would download this car
Wrong, it’s the charger
No it isn't at all so that's wrong dude
I don't think they're really stolen I think that people pull Insurance scams because they don't want to pay for it any longer
No surprise there, everyone in the world wants it
How is rory still not at a millions subs???
I still don't get how rangerovers get through london traffic... But if there is space in the UK for buses thn this too can fit... maybe
City driving is fine, it's old towns that you'd never get a big car through.
@gregoryboatswain1605 yeah, country lanes and old villages is a big no 😂
in the USA people do that with right hand drive cars all the time especially the Nissan Skylines. I did that in a Eunos roadster a few times.
I haven't seen the word eunos roadster since gran Turismo 2
While the SXT and GT are common here in Canada because of the optional awd, the Hellcats, let alone the R/Ts are a sight to behold!
Really good video thank you
I’d go for the Dodge Charger Hellcat as a daily as it has the same engine and 4 doors.
I had a Cadillac years ago and regularly reversed round the McDonalds drive thru. Reversing out of car parks with barriers was more tricky though. 😂😂😂
Yes this car is EVERYWHERE, especially here in Jacksonville NC. That and Mustangs
We figured out the reverse to the service window in the early 80s Guess we were ahead of the game . 😁
As an American, these cars have had the same chassis and body panels since 2007, but the engine is cool
Amazing beast , thanks for a great review 🔥🔥🔥
Getting my second Challenger in 2 Days. It is not a Hellcat but i am happy with a Scat Pack Widebody in Destroyer Grey too 😍
I love the reaction of you just cruising
In America, police have stopped chasing these cars because they are untouchable😂😂😂😂😂
The best car sound you can hear❤️🔥
I just saw the new 2025 Dodge challenger it is crazy nice. It was being road tested, the dash is crazy nice like from the future. the interior and door panels are sick. the hood is even different. they ask not to take pictures, so no picture taken out of respect. you're going to be pleasantly surprised.
My neighbor has one. He has it parked outside. It’s plum crazy (purple) I thought it was just a Hellcat but I didn’t realize it was a Redeye until recently. He daily drives it. Rain or Shine.
More like the UK doesn't have parking spaces or roads big enough for a "PROPER" Motor vehicle 😉 😂 😂
Imagine 1000 HP. That’s what I’m up to right now but you gotta admit they are definitely fun to drive.😂👍
I love how you say “It’s left hand drive!” I’m so use to hearing ‘right hand drive’ as being unique where as over their it’s left. So obvious but it never occurred to me.
Drive Thru bit was funny LOL
That's a beautiful car. I know I can't afford one buuut... There's guys on UA-cam slapping the hellcat supercharger in 5.7s lol I'm sooo doing that. I was debating on the Whipple vs procharger but finally see the path I should take. Used ones are only like $2k vs $8k+ for the other two
Not really a fan of american cars but to me this looks and sounds superb , the only issue is whats the point of 797hp when you can only get 400 to 450 into the road without lighting the tyres up, activate launch control then sit still for 5 seconds destroying your tyres 😂 it needs to be 4wd
I just love that supercharger whine
Another great review.
That crazy whine sound reminds me of begining of I am Legend movie :D
Well, another enjoyable car review from Rory
Amazing car, I wish I had one. I would take it for a drive and won’t look back.
Looks amazing around all those little baby cars though 😍
Your the man for going for going backwards
“Has anyone ever thought of this before?”
Yeah, only every JDM owner in North America ever 😂
i have 2016 challenger hellcat 707 hp but i removed the factory exhaust both catylitic converters. installed hooker blackheart long tube headers, hooker header back blackheart exhaust system. Car makes 693 hp at the rear tires., about 800 at engine
Love myne , dont got the redeye got a normal one. Cant beat the sound tho
