  • Learn more about the Dell PowerEdge R750 compared to the Dell PowerEdge R740xd. The release of the Dell EMC 15th Generation servers comes with some upgrades and new technology such as the Intel Xeon 3rd Generation Processors now with up to 40 cores per processor versus the 32 cores per processor with Intel’s 2nd Generation, more DIMM slots, Leak Sense Technology, and more. Both the Dell R750 and R740xd are a two-socket, 2U form factor. The perfect balance between storage scalability and performance makes these enterprise-level servers a great option for software-defined storage, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), and HyperConverged Infrastructure (HCI).

I can only dream. My home lab is rock'n an R720XD. I can't wait until these R750's get rotated out so I can grab one at a price I can afford.

I hear ya! I have an R720 (sadly not the XD version) for my NAS and 2 R730s running Proxmox in my home lab.

Careful you wish for, 14 and 15 gen servers are loud.

OCP would more likely be a reference to robocop ... not C3PO from starwars ...

We got burned buying a 4u Itanium 2 server
Unless it was in a server room at 40F, which we didn't have, so at room temperature it ran with fans at full blast which was noisy as h377.
It was all but 100% unusuable for anything at all. EFU bios took forever to load, and we bought extra Itanium 2's for it but couldn't find the heatsinks.. anywhere.
I wouldn't buy any of your server recommendations without you powering them up, so I could verify they were quiet. Just saying. All the tech specs run down in the world don't matter unless I can hear the thing running... or rather... not hear the thing running... from the next room over.

To be clear, this would be any enterprise level server, not just Dell servers through xByte. We have certified engineers and solution architects on staff to help customers design solutions to meet their unique needs. In your case, the noise level would be something to discuss and would be taken into consideration. We strive for 100% customer satisfaction, and upon request, we could do a live demo for you to demonstrate noise levels.
