Having just picked up an R740XD, I would agree that it's way better for storage applications. However, if you're not using it for storage/san etc... you might want to go with the R740, especially if you need to use any of the PCIe slots for video cards/accelerators or raid/networking cards.
Hi , can you fit the r740xd rear backplane cage into the r740 ?
I've heard that wearing headphones makes videos easier to hear, maybe give that a try gents!

Hi guys, will R730 Ram work with R740?
Is it normal to hear a server fan noise from outside of the data center for a few seconds ? I did rebooted it manually and when I walked out I heard that noise , I'm just a desktop engineer and I was wondering if that is normal .
When a server is booting typically the fans will revv to max briefly as it does bootup tests.

Товарищи, это пример полной деградации. Как ни странно, наиболее вменяемым из этой троицы выглядит ВЕДУЩИЙ, которому CEO и лопоухий "инженер" трахают мозги. Ладно, я признаю, что gen14 DELL выглядит внешне у@#ищем. Внутре - они хорошие, если бы не идиотская идея сделать всё это хозяйство "максимально гибким". И я имею в виду не только показанные в ролике, есть ещё R440 и R540 (от последнего вообще хочется рвать на жопе волоса). В результате, разобраться во всех пертурбаций с мезонинами, рейдами, проводами к бэкплейну переднему и заднему сможет только кто? Да только сам DELL. И то не всегда. А уж предоставить заказчику сервер с заданной конфигурацией - за@#ешся с мягким знаком.
