Awesome, I shared this on my twitter feed. I used to work on Cisco UCS now employed by a Dell partner so I know these 750's are in my future.

Great Video, All possible information described and gathered too, Btw how much this setup cost to you and what is the room temperature of your server room. Thanks

I know this is a little childish but the Dell EMC case looks so cool!

Nice work. I'm looking forward to seeing RAID Performance. I haven't seen a hardware RAID controller for NVME that can actually deliver and not hold back the drives. I'm looking into buying a cluster of 750s with very similar specs, so I'm interested in how fast this sucker is. Best of Luck and nice work!

Thank you! Yeah the RAID card is interesting for sure, but I am going to keep testing it out right now I am making videos on how and what VMware Cloud Foundation is and how to build it, so once I finish those tests then I will do more benchmarks of storage with a bare metal os and vm based.

Great presentation! I was able to purchase a data center pulled R750 a week ago for my home data center. My box is configured very much like yours, with the GPU shroud and long risers. I added a BOSS-S2 to it. It has 256GB RAM in it, with another 256GB on the way. I have an SSD in bay 0 and two NVMe U.2 SSDs in bays 22 and 23. There's a PERC 755 on the left front. The problem I am having is the noise! The server is in my living space and I cannot get the fans to spin down enough to be livable. Regardless of cooling settings in iDRAC and BIOS, the fans run at 37% of max. I have a case open with Dell, but they are saying that this is normal for a machine of this configuration, with the NVMe backplane and BOSS-S2 (which I tried removing). If you have any ideas on how I can make this machine livable, I would be most appreciative. Even after ESXi 8.01 loads, the machine is still loud, with the fans at 37%. Help! One last thing... oddly, my machine has a baffle inserted in the center opening of the shroud. I see your server does not.

Thank you! Oh nice yeah definitely great hardware to have for home lab! What you can do is control the Minimum PWM if you keep it around 30% that is what I do for my many or R740s. Also if you have any PCIe cards that do not show up as third party option in the idrac for temperature then the server will crank up its fans. I know it happened to me I had connectx4 mellanox cards that had a weird driver so I returned them back to the eBay seller and got another set of same kind of card but model was different and now my servers 740s are quiet

@@Virtualbytes1 I saw in another one of your videos that you replaced the fans in an R740 to reduce the volume, mentioning that the high performance fans will not spin down sufficiently under any circumstances. I believe that's the case with the R750's gold fans. I've ordered a set of six standard fans, arriving Monday. I have the current fans set to a minimum of 5% (tried higher numbers), but the fans won't go below 33% or 37%. No third-party cards installed yet, but I have plans to add a Mellanox ConnectX-4 25G. I asked Dell to make an engineering change to allow the gold fans to run at slower speeds. We are still going up and back on that one. Thanks for the help!!!
