- There are 64 classes and 9 races in this MMORPG which can be quite daunting.
Which class should you play in Ashes of Creation(AoC)? What race should you pick? What is the best class for dealing damage? What about supporting?.....Maybe you are here just to inform yourself what will be available when the game launches.

Oh I thought they would be cross types like a blacksmith fighting with either strange unique items or turrets and small mechs(like apocalypse skyrim mods)
I think Knight and Dreadnought are treated as polar opposites in this game.

I like how you tell me everything each class is capable of according to the best information you had at the time. I think the overall theme that I see so far in AoC development is similar to that of WoW in 2004... "design a game that the developers themselves would like to play"
I really hope it's the case, maybe our dreams will come true and we finally get an amazing new MMO
if thats the case i don't understand why they would make something like this, its boring and too fucking slow, this is like a crap version of New world and Black desert.

It's got alot of inspiration from Archeage. I was part of Steven's guild in that game when he started this project and alot of the way he wants his game to be is what Archeage was missing, while obviously having his own touch to everything

This game carry my hopes to find another great mmorpg, the memories of Dofus, WoW and Lineage.

You could give ESO a try. I've been playing it for several years, and I personally think it's the best MMO available currently. Ofc whether or not you like is up to you, but if you do need something to play, you can at least give it a chance.
I found Guild Wars' dual profession system great. You didn't get new skills, you were able to use the skills and weapons of both professions. Edit: your primary profession was more able (had higher stats) and you could change your secondary profession in towns to which ever, so when you went out where the combat was, you could be a warrior-monk or warrior-ranger or warrior-necromancer or warrior-assassin and so on.
This is my favorite game of all time!

This character creation system gives me dnd vibes and I am all for it. Go bards. I'm personally not the biggest fan of the hybrid gameplay style bc I grew up with action gameplay over the tab target aspect, but I suppose I can let that slide to try a few hours of this for a bit. Thanks for the info
they hybrid gameplay is like gw2 and personally as someone who doesn't enjoy tab target as much i dont mind it at all. it still feels more like action combat. youre just pressing tab to focus on a specific enemy

I am forever looking forward to making an Empyrean elf Highblade. That thought keeps me warm at night.

The Aion song playing during bard section is pulling at my heart strings. I miss Aion so much.
I’m slightly torn between having a summoner/ fighter or tank class that’s built to be really good playing by itself, (maybe even a hunter subclass) and an enchanter who focuses on party buffing. I want the enchanter to be a master scribe, because I like log horizon
A solo player, respectable! I loved that anime also, binge watched the first 2 seasons :)
Might try a ranger/tank set-up and try to be a shock trooper with a potion launcher.
I reeeaaaally hope the Necromancer can have more than one pet out at a time. A Necro with a singular skeleton minion just doesn't sound like a proper Necro. Being able to amass a horde of skeletons (and other undead) would do the class fantasy justice.
Summoners are able to have up to three pets up, and honestly I consider necromancers to be a specialised version so I really hope they let them have way more than 3
What if the necromancer could control a lich, death knight and wraith?
Horde of skeletons doesn’t sound bad, just a tad simple.

@@DaPerfecto57 Ngl, I'd rather *be* a lich than control one. It'd be cool if we *do* get some sort of spell that summons a bunch of weak undead on a timed duration, and then our main pet, the death knight or whomever, buffs them. The idea being our main pet is something like our own personal undead lieutenant or frontline commander. Think Heinrich Kemmler and his wight BFF, Krell from Warhammer.
@Generic JC Denton pic True. Have you heard about Conquest of Azeroth, Project Ascension's upcoming WoW server with custom classes? Well, Necro is one of them and I really like how they handle minions. You generate Runic Power separate from your mana by using spells, dots, whatever, and then you spend all your Runic Power by spamming Raise Skeleton. Each skelly only lasts like 15-20 seconds, but you can amass quite the sizable horde of them. Don't know how balanced it is, but looks fun as hell! Would love to see something like it in Ashes.

I love treasure hunting so Rogue being able to find hidden doors or extra loot is taking top pick for me. Summoner and Ranger falling close behind

As kids back in the early 80's, playing D&D, playing dual classes was so satisfying. Harder to level them but boy did we have fun. So looking forward to AoC!

Its a primary class with flavor/augments from another

Still a cleric, but with some visual/effect augments that fit the Fighter theme

This game is designed so I don't have to spam a specific class for every party. You guys deserve success for challenging tradition.
except there will only be 8 meta classes and if you dont run those 8 you won't get into anything remotely end game or hard, this is the problem these MASS class games fall into, much like Warhammer MMO, it doesn't matter what you LIKE playing if you CAN'T get BiS with it.
@@mis8866 Yup. This is the age of the meta -- optimization and efficiency. It's ultimately spending FAR too much time into designing the fantasy, but not taking into account the reality of the genre and community. 64 classes is absolutely horrible, and a horrible design choice. It'll be cool for the first few months or year, but then it'll become "if you want to do this, play this."
@@mis8866 yeah gw2 with all its specs, and only like 5 are really good. Theres definitely not a big disconnect with the others, but idk i havent played in a while maybe dragonhunter is still garbage
This isn't challenging traditions. Tons of older MMOs tried very similar systems like this.
@@simonic2063 Well, this game is heavily inspired by Archeage. If I remember correctly, there was a total of 220 class combinations, with only 30-40 of them being meta/good.
its kinda sad that a summoner's pets will disappear when the player logs off but were still gonna be able to name them... meaning we wont be able to have bonding with our summons

Really looking forward to seeing the Oracle and Shaman augments! (Cleric/Mage & Cleric/Summoner)
Love how this game is merging some of the best parts of multiple different MMO's. Im fairly in decisive so being able to change 1 class is great. Will defiantly make a summoner tho and try out the different combos. I really hop the crafting system is well put together and a bit more intuitive than a something like WoW. I want to be able to make certian parts of a craft and change the outcome/effects depending on what's used. like a sword having bleed if u use a rigged blade or Fire if u use a flame steel or something. If that is to complicated though maybe a crafting system similar to ESO would be good as well. The mount train profession looks cool as well.

Very ambitious project! For as many combination classes you can choose from, trying to maintain balance for 64 adv class combinations is going to be next to impossible. I have been watching the progress of this game for last few years and what I see looks promising, but I am really concerned when it comes to proper balancing.
I am quite curious to see what benefits classes get for choosing a "pure" class through advanced, such as choosing cleric/cleric, fighter/fighter, mage/mage, etc.
The pvp balancing at least will be done through a rock-paper-scissor method instead of 1vs1 balance

"Balancing in Ashes of Creation is group focused not based on 1v1 combat.
1v1 matchups will have a rock-paper-scissors dynamic, where one class will be superior to another."
In translation: class A beats class B, class B beats class C, class beats class A
@@shineonnent.7951 think of world of Warcraft vanilla ..back then most of the time there were classes that could be other classes Fairly easily. Like mages beating warriors or rogues beating casters. Warriors beating rogues etc etc .
Keep in mind only the primary class is permanent , the secondary can be change

I especialy love that race wil matter. if we look at wow, the differences between races are very minute and can be ignored entirely in most cases. i just hope it will be carefully balanced to allow uniqueness without meta class/race combinations being so strong that, say, a dwarf fighter would be seen as a strictly inferior pick to a human fighter.

I am for sure choosing the elf for race. As for my class I choose fighter or mage. I’d probably flip a coin when I get there. As for what class I’ll be crossing with will be fighter or mage. I always wanted a melee mage class.

Im abit late to the comments but i look forward to seeing how a necromancer will play although perosnally for me i always like the idea of a necromacer being a warrior/caster that is able to reanimate corpses as "pets" you know something like nekros's 4th ability from warframe or something simlar in solo leveling, its what come to mind for me when i think of necromacer.
Yup, I use necro alot in warframe, that skill would be cool

I'll likely be playing a Shadow Disciple as I love being a stealthy healer, so whatever archetype combination can accomplish that I like.
i alway wanted to play a summonar so i will play summonar, i really hope this game will also be a world that you want to explore hidden dungons and treasures. also rewards for special achivments

There’s so few class videos I find myself coming back thinking of all the combination while listening, the fact you can mix things up means for me I’m more likely to play a class I wouldn’t normally main because your secondary and race allows you to bend and patch up the primary

@@Strangingness Since they wanted to add ranger in alpha-1 I'm thinking that is next as well. But they might save it to showcase multiple archetypes on stream, when the time comes.

I really hope they have class changes at some point or at least name transfers like BDO because naming a character is more important than anything else especially at launch most will just skip character customization and just start locking names like assholes and as soon as you give up your name and try to make a new character there will always be a chance someone steals it before you finish
yea...naming is always a struggle in MMOs
The game kind of reminds me of how MMOs are depicted in anime, which is probably the highest praise i can give sense those worlds actually feel fantastical.
I loved Bard back in original EverQuest, and I like what I’m hearing about it in AoC.

Are they going to implement mechanics to cut trees? Or is it just the mindless press a button and cut a tree?
For now the system is pretty much just: having the right tool equipped, walking up to the tree and getting a prompt, then some chopping animation.
But the artisan skills are expected to have massive changes close to alpha-2 release

After being disappointed by so many MMOs, I learned that the creator of this one was inspired by Archeage (RIP) and I'm very interested in the class system. Archeage's class system was fantastic imo. This one is looking great as well! Great video!

Wow. The variation of classes are mindblowing. Tho watching the ingame footage, combat looks really clunky and slow. T_T. After playing BDO for years, it's painful to play western MMOs.

Alpha 2 should be the nearest point in the future for that
I feel like this class system will be the biggest speed bump to release. They keep updating us on other things, but this part of it is going to need a ton of work to make everything smooth. It's so complex. I love it, but to make it so that any combination will be something enjoyable isn't something you just throw together. I think they've only done one hybrid class so far?
Hi Simopa, I agree that this is a very complex part that will need special attention and a ton of work. It will definitely be a big speed bump for the release, but probably not the biggest!
I expect that the biggest challenge will be the nodes system and building the world map.
Also, they have only tested the base archetypes so far, secondary archetypes/classes are expected in alpha-2 :)

Currently we have no info about how the perks look like, but with alpha 2 approaching we might find out more in the near future, finger crossed for that🤞
What about Assassin? I always love rogue style things. Herbalism, alchemy, poison, stealth, stealing….
By starting as a rogue and picking rogue archetype again at lvl 25 your class will literally be called assassin:)

I'm getting good vibes from this game. Seeing all the things I'm looking for in a game, hearing my much loved Aion music under the bard gives me nostalgia and even more hypes and hopes.

Everything seem to go smoothly as steven planned. How I wish the trading system is like ragnarok online wherein we can put up stalls pretty much everywhere in the city to sell our goods and services because having that kind of platform helps the players to develop loyal customers and make friends in the process. I REALLY HATE THE AUCTION SYSTEM!
Ah I know what you're saying, it feels quite awesome having local little stalls set up by players in cities!

I do hope rogues get the kind of mobility they showed in that clip. Maybe with a simple grapling hook so they wouldn't have to code every single wall with meshes specific for one class to climb it.
Also, bards need to be able to make their own music as well.

After the experience i had in lineage so many years ago now i have hopes to feel something again of the same caliber of feelings , friendships sieges and something to fill the emptiness lineage left.

I'm not entrely sure yet cuz several of the classes looks pretty dope, but I lean heavily toward the Mage, as I've always liked magic-wielder classes. Ofc, the Ranger is also a solid choice since I also love archers.
