Steven was hanging out the entire stream. He was teleporting himself to asmon multiple times and seemed to try and make sure asmon has a decent experience. Gave tips, let him test mayorship, that kinda stuff.

This game ran incredibly well for an alpha that is two years from releasing. Still can’t believe the stable frames during the lava dragon fight. That was like a 50-60 player raid.
When asmon walked down to see Steven flying on that bird, I mean, that was pretty epic. The graphics, mount design, your character’s movement and everything else looks soooo good
the characters movement kinda looks too fast, like they are gliding around. It makes the massive world feel small when they just glide up mountains like that. I'm sure that'll be fixed though. hopefully.

Those are exactly things that alphas are meant to do, though, since they're actually and always have been since software development was a thing, proof of concept pieces. Not fully functional gameplay with visuals. This is more like a beta, regardless of what companies try to call their in-development builds nowadays. "Pre-Alphas" are another whole can of worms, but I digress. That being said, it does look good for how far in development it's in, and will definitely reach another level of quality before release.

Even Black Desert is a better choice minus the sub fee too. Full housing, guild wars, faming etc.. Much much modern in its own take. The quality of the game Ashes have is literally just above but close to Dreamworld. Plus it has been in development since 2017 or earlier and seeing it now as it is has nothing new to offer.

I'm actually surprised how good the animations look during a fight, I saw some footage a while back where it looked really clunky. Imagine a dev actually improving stuff that people ask for.... crazy times.
That was pre-alpha, we normally only see things in tester ready betas - at the earliest! Everything will get much better, love the transparency this company is giving.
@@uaidavi It was, since op made that comment several things related to the animations were tweaked again. They look and feel more responsive now and apparently cut down on overhead as well. Meaning things will be noticeably smoother in large scale battles. Sounds like they're making good progress on that end to me.

I got out of it this week, uninstalled abruptly because that's the only way to cut an addiction. It is not even other MMOs, there are so many great games out there with great experiences.
Honestly I always thought of this game to be the Star Citizen of Fantasy MMO's. But this tech-alpha is insanely fleshed out already. Good effort by Steven and the team gonna be keeping an eye on this game as potentional main-game for me in the near future tbh.

I'm not that worried about the gameplay systems that they are aiming for. I'm just hoping they don't do the same mistakes as blizzard with creating new gameplay systems every 2 years. They just need to build upon their existing systems when the game got a full release in the future. Anf if they are going to build upon their existing system this is gonna be a great game.

@sultan dabul the dragon doesn't start using mechanics until his HP drops to 90% or so. Asmon was level 3 and the dragon was an elite level 15. once the dragon's HP got to said point he started using his mechanics. we already have footage from months ago where Steven and his groups took on the forest dragon, showing off how it takes to the sky to create shockwaves of poison you need to jump over, spreading poison at random, blasting venomous bolts directly at people... it was utter chaos

The best thing wow has done in the last decade was teach their players that patience is an important virtue. They did it by repeatedly releasing half-baked content, but I guess there's a silver lining in everything.

It feels like a second wind for MMORPG. It’s still very early but this is a really cool world that I want to explore and get lost in and they’re creating a lot of opportunities for people to interact. Can’t wait for it to get more updates and flesh out more.

But when I see or play games with realistic graphics I'm like "Is this really what MMOs look like?". I mean, the first online MMO I played was PWI, then others like it and then I ended up on Dino Storm for about 6 years. Game died and then I went to WoW and I think I'm on my fourth year playing it. It felt like I've forgot how a "realistic" MMO looks like after all these years lol

I love how the developers created the dungeon. They did not add the loading screen, all you do in just enter and out. That adds more to realism of the game.
Steven is the Founder of the company and paying for pretty much everything ( outside some selling preoder and skins and all of that ) but he is the main " investor " in his own mmorpg
This gives me huge Archeage vibes, a game I loved for 12 weeks. I just hope it doesn't fall into the endgame trap of catering to the minority like so many MMORPGs before. Loving the vast exploration but hope they do not make it too grindy. Hopefully whenever this is released I will still be playing online games but I suspect this could be another 3 years
asmon running through projectiles at 9:30 kinda gives off this really hardcore medieval siege vibe and they went for that as far as i can tell with super low fantasy elements, so that hits the spot just right, thats nice. i know this is a test not a content test or a final version but the sound dopppler effects sit nicely and the feeling comes across so yeah. nice.

I'm actually surprised how good the animations look during a fight, I saw some footage a while back where it looked really clunky. Imagine a dev actually improving stuff that people ask for.... crazy times.
That was pre-alpha, we normally only see things in tester ready betas - at the earliest!

@@uaidavi It was, since op made that comment several things related to the animations were tweaked again. They look and feel more responsive now and apparently cut down on overhead as well. Meaning things will be noticeably smoother in large scale battles. Sounds like they're making good progress on that end to me.

I got out of it this week, uninstalled abruptly because that's the only way to cut an addiction.
It is not even other MMOs, there are so many great games out there with great experiences.
Honestly I always thought of this game to be the Star Citizen of Fantasy MMO's. But this tech-alpha is insanely fleshed out already. Good effort by Steven and the team gonna be keeping an eye on this game as potentional main-game for me in the near future tbh.

I think this lays the scam rumors to rest. The jury is still out on how the final product will be, and over-hyping ends up being kind of toxic, but I would say this looks like it's the real deal and I'm really rooting for them to drive it home

I'm not that worried about the gameplay systems that they are aiming for. I'm just hoping they don't do the same mistakes as blizzard with creating new gameplay systems every 2 years. They just need to build upon their existing systems when the game got a full release in the future. Anf if they are going to build upon their existing system this is gonna be a great game.

@sultan dabul the dragon doesn't start using mechanics until his HP drops to 90% or so. Asmon was level 3 and the dragon was an elite level 15. once the dragon's HP got to said point he started using his mechanics. we already have footage from months ago where Steven and his groups took on the forest dragon, showing off how it takes to the sky to create shockwaves of poison you need to jump over, spreading poison at random, blasting venomous bolts directly at people... it was utter chaos

@@stefanvdw7895 Looked into it a bit more and they've accumulated something like 50 million USD from funding from the CEO and kickstart/other base funding projects combined, which is actually 25% more than BLIZZARD used for WoW at its original 2004 dev date, any they have *way* better technology now to be developing on. The best thing wow has done in the last decade was teach their players that patience is an important virtue. They did it by repeatedly releasing half-baked content, but I guess there's a silver lining in everything.

It feels like a second wind for MMORPG. It’s still very early but this is a really cool world that I want to explore and get lost in and they’re creating a lot of opportunities for people to interact. Can’t wait for it to get more updates and flesh out more.

I mean, the first online MMO I played was PWI, then others like it and then I ended up on Dino Storm for about 6 years. Game died and then I went to WoW and I think I'm on my fourth year playing it. It felt like I've forgot how a "realistic" MMO looks like after all these years lol

This game has soo much potential. It has the chance of changing the future of MMORPGs. I sincerely hope this game doesn't die and ends up getting the support needed to be number one.
It's all going to be about those first 2 months. If they keep the playerbase they need to keep going, it can be something amazing.

I love how the developers created the dungeon. They did not add the loading screen, all you do in just enter and out. That adds more to realism of the game.

This gives me huge Archeage vibes, a game I loved for 12 weeks. I just hope it doesn't fall into the endgame trap of catering to the minority like so many MMORPGs before. Loving the vast exploration but hope they do not make it too grindy. Hopefully whenever this is released I will still be playing online games but I suspect this could be another 3 years

asmon running through projectiles at 9:30 kinda gives off this really hardcore medieval siege vibe and they went for that as far as i can tell with super low fantasy elements, so that hits the spot just right, thats nice. i know this is a test not a content test or a final version but the sound dopppler effects sit nicely and the feeling comes across so yeah. nice.
