I will just watch movies, tv shows, news a little, and no gaming..I am still in the return window from best buy. I don't know what to do. I have the 5 year Geek squad warranty on the S90D for burn in so not to worried about that. I just want a theater like experience in the living room. If playing games, yes, game mode disables most of the TV's image processing to reduce input lag. Without game mode you could be adding around 100ms of delay. Motion plus is more personal preference. It's basically black frame insertion (BFI), which interpolates a black frame between each frame for 60hz content with the goal of reducing frame persistence for better motion clarity. Downside is that every second frame black feels like half brightness unless the display compensates(S90D does not), and I was bothered by a noticeable flickering. I didn't personally notice much improvement to clarity, but your mileage may vary, you'll need to try it for games with fast motion.

Does anyone know for sure if Samsung can play Dolby Vision if a streaming device that supports it is connected to it? I don't need a lecture about how good HDR10+ is. I am hearing conflicting answers to it. Is it just that the display will show Dolby Vision but it is really running HDR10+ in the background?
No, Samsung won't play Dolby Vision regardless of the streaming device. There is no Dolby Vision preset on Samsung TVS. It will default to HDR10 or HDR 10 plus when available
Would a 90's movie, say Jurassic Park or Terminator 2, be considered "low bitrate" content? I hear Samsung isn't great at low bitrate, but then this tv was well reviewed for it's upscaling ability. Someone help me out here because I am confused.
Low bitrate content like youtube etc. Blu-rays look amazing. I don't know why they even mention low bitrate content in these reviews. I expect that stuff to look bad and don't want it overprocessed but that's just me I guess
@@BRIANSTECHTHERAPY Thanks, yeah! I upgraded from a CX 77". Honestly, not as a dramatic leap as I hoped, both in regards to size and picture quality. Surprisingly, the most improvement I see is in SDR, where contrast is almost HDR-like with the G4 (with no dynamic contrast or anything on). Some magic tone mapping must be happening. Can't complain. :)
Nonsense. If you want natural and accurate, you can get that. If you want more "pop" and saturation, you can get that too. Brian has never been one to go for super accurate image settings though. That's his preference. But you're 100% objectively incorrect in stating that Samsung's TVs can't show color accurately

I still give the S95C the edge overall with processing and brightness. The G3 is still a bit better with processing but I'd go S90D
Very good review Brian.
Thank you so much!!
Hey Brian, what do you think about the G4 vs the S90D as far as picture quality?
I'd still favor the G4 as it is brighter and has the new Alpha 11 processor. Thank you for watching
@@BRIANSTECHTHERAPY you are a great inspiration to our community. We truly value the time and effort you put into making your content and thanks to you, FOMO,Classy, and KG, I will be purchasing the G4 77-inch which will be my first OLED ( my Wife is buying it for me ). I'm coming from a 2010 LG LH 55-inch LCD so I'm excited. Also, you all should team up with TKK on one of your streams. God bless and happy Father's day.
@davidross7255 awesome David! Thank you for the very kind words . Congratulations on the G4, and it's amazing that your wife is purchasing it for you. Tkk is already a friend and you'll see us work together. Enjoy your G4 and thank you for being part of the community and family
Brian would you say this is the best bang for your buck right now, or the S90C if you prioritize picture quality over size?
Hey the 55” uk model - is this a WOLED OR A QOLED Panel? Thanks
WOLED. Only the 65" S90D is QD in europe.
S90D or Bravia8? Seems like a80L is a better value over both
No
Great Review!!!
My current TVs are X900F, Q7FN and TCL QM8, Love QM8 but upscaling on that is rubbish, and I would be changing picture setting every time I change content,. Would you say QN800D 8k worth it ? or S90D if they were the same price ? mainly watching you tube, low bit content, normal room and sports .
The S90D is excellent and vert vibrant. However, the QN800D has superior upscaling of all content
Was interested in getting the s90d 77 inch but we only get 65 inch qd oled in my country😢
I'm sorry to hear that, my friend. I have no idea why the manufacturers make choices of which sizes or models go where and when. Thank you so much for watching
@BRIANSTECHTHERAPY thanks & all products should be the same not a lottery would of got a s95d but I don't like the one connect box I ended up getting the 77 inch G4 instead
wow picture, i love Sauron lol, keep your flame this year, and don't look toward toxicity
Thank you, Majid! The toxicity is always there, my friend.
I updated my firmware on my s90d and lost 300 nits of peak brightness. Samsung up to its usual tricks. Wait for the initial reviews to come out then nerf. The windows hdr calibration app initially showed 1150 of peak brightness and 1 week later it is down to 850 nits
It means you got a woled panel, qd-oled are 1750 nits!
@@iodaddycool I definitely have qdoled
Quality TV as long as you don't end up with a W-OLED panel
😅
@BRIAN 👋 55" Samsung S90D or 55" Sony Bravia 7? 🤔 I don't watch TV off angle, I live alone and I don't have space for a 65 inch Tv.
Wow, that's a great question! The bravia 7 has better processing and better upscaling and also has Dolby vision. It's an overall better movie watching and streaming TV
@@BRIANSTECHTHERAPY Ok 👌 thank you for the response 👍
@@BRIANSTECHTHERAPY Well that doesn't leave much where the s90d is better. Hmm....I was just about to pull the trigger on one but maybe not now.
Great video. Not sure if I should get C4, Bravia 8, G3, or this tv.
@partizanbgd0113 thank you! They are all excellent! The S90D is my favorite gaming TV of the year. I literally have a gaming vid on it tomorrow ua-cam.com/video/vgybAmIfZso/v-deo.html
@@BRIANSTECHTHERAPY thank you for your reply, love your content and true comparison not only relying on data but real life experience. I don’t really play video games, from time to time, mostly FIFA, but tend to watch a lot of movies and sports. Was always a Sony fan as all their TVs lasted me a long time.
@partizanbgd0113 Thank you for the kind words, my friend. The Bravia 8 is excellent, and it will cover all the bases for you. Excellent processing, and it looks good with all content .
@@BRIANSTECHTHERAPY I ended up getting a G4. “I got an offer I couldn’t refuse”, only $200 more than the Bravia 8. If it wasn’t as good of a deal, I would have gone with Sony. Thank you again!
I've looked everywhere, but can't find an answer. Why is my "game genre" always greyed out on this TV? It's always locked to Standard in the game bar, and when I try to change it, it just "This function isn't available." Your HDR is on, and so is Game Genre. How?
In the settings at the bottom of the screen enable game mode there. It might be off or at auto. Also make sure hdr10 plus gaming is off
@@BRIANSTECHTHERAPY Thanks so much for your reply. Game Mode is definitely on. But how are you disabling HDR10 and still showing HDR "On" on your screen's game bar?
@Sparegus1 in the hdr 10 plus section. Separate from the regular game mode. If your in hdr10plus it will lock you out of the other presets
Hi Brian, I'm at a dilemma . I know you have the x80l 83" . I truly cant decide between the x80l 83" or the bravia 9 85". I'm going to order later tonight or in the morning. Between you and fomo, i just can't decide, lol 😂. Help
Thanks darrell
Thanks Brian
Thank you so much Craig!
@@BRIANSTECHTHERAPY thank you so much. All I need to hear. No lecture about the difference. Keep up the good work.
@gpt2010 all tell you that many times in streaming base HDR looks better so I wouldn't chase any format just choose the best TV for you
What’s happening?!
You're the best 👌
Why is no one reviewing the Samsung S85D?
2ond generation panel, then this TV is the same that a S90C?
They are very similar. The S90D is slightly brighter
So... I'm a little confused about this ... QD-OLED or WOLED? ... /:
QD-OLED my friend
Region dependent, it may be Woled in your country.
@@BRIANSTECHTHERAPYnot in Europe it isn’t
48 inch WOLED
55 inch WOLED
65 inch QD-OLED
77 inch WOLED
83 inch WOLED
If you can opt for QD-OLED, that's the way to go
You said you watched "The Omen." The 1976 original or the 2006 remake? Both of those are on my huge Horror/Sci-Fi favorites list.
Hi Chris, it was the original Omen my friend. Thank you so much for watching
Funny about the MASH and Columbo references. I watch Columbo on an 11 year old Samsung plasma and the show looks great 👍
@@tjf7101 best comment ever!! Thank you!
A samsung rep said the 77" is a woled only 55 and 65 is qdoled
That's absolute nonsense.
rtings gave higher score to s90d over s95d
I bet due to the matt screen :D
Would a 90's movie, say Jurassic Park or Terminator 2, be considered "low bitrate" content? I hear Samsung isn't great at low bitrate, but then this tv was well reviewed for it's upscaling ability. Someone help me out here because I am confused.
Low bitrate content like youtube etc. Blu-rays look amazing. I don't know why they even mention low bitrate content in these reviews. I expect that stuff to look bad and don't want it overprocessed but that's just me I guess
Please drop the dedicated gaming video!
I was about to pull the trigger on this until I realized the 83" isn't QD-OLED. Oh well..
I hope they do QD-OLED at >77" in the future. I ended up buying a G4 83".
G4 at 83 I bet is VERY good. I have 77 S90C and I too can't wait for Samsung to eventually start producing some 83-85 QD panels
@@stephenpatterson8056 It's amazing, but I can't help feeling a bit jealous of QD-OLED technology. :) Still, I would always go for the bigger size.
That would definitely be the ultimate my friend. Hope you are loving the G4
@@EmblemParade hello friend, you don't se difference from cx on game mode, ?? G4 is more sharpness and crystal image from cx on game mode??
Samsung QD OLED is way better than the LG G4. Especially for gaming. Nothing can match the picture of a QD OLED as of this time.
27:13 what is the name of the game and console?
Thanks
@@BMilitant my pleasure! Thank you for watching!
Why do you keep mentioning the 95?
Why not? Most people are considering both of them. Their are big differences between the two.
@@BRIANSTECHTHERAPY I guess cause the title is a review of the 90D
Me tv s90d 77” , WOLED 😢
Same. I feel conned big time.
Is S90C still valid purchase this far along?
It Is but it's a little hard to find
bestbuys S89C is the identical tv (albeit with different stands and speakers) but can be had for 1800 or less for 77"
No qd oled 77 inch for europe? Very confusing. Hope you can give samsung feedback about this bullshit
Hi Brian, Oops, a80l on my other posts .sorry
Will be waiting to see if this goes on sale for 4th of July or Labor Day. I need a new TV for football season.
Just because it is not flagship does not mean it is Value, so disconnected from reality lol
@@tapersaud what's value mean to you? All depends on your budget. The S90D is an excellent value for what it is.
Has been out for a while…?😂
It came out a few months ago ?
S90D Panel Lottery = NO BUY. 👎
Not for the most common sizes
still no dolby vision though.
Hdr is just as good.

What are you talking about? Its HDMI ports are 48Gbps. Doesn't get much more "full bandwidth" than that 😂
G4...
Tizen is disgusting
Samsung is the problem they haven't got a clue about natural colours...
Nonsense. If you want natural and accurate, you can get that. If you want more "pop" and saturation, you can get that too. Brian has never been one to go for super accurate image settings though. That's his preference. But you're 100% objectively incorrect in stating that Samsung's TVs can't show color accurately
😂😂😂 you make me laugh
If you don't like Samsungs punchy colour pallete simply turn the colour down to 30 or 40, problem solved
You can make Samsung to look like Sony but you can't make sony to look like Samsung
Samsungs colour still look completely fake...
Needs to be calibrated, like all TV's.
