But since owning a 2020 48" LG CX for 4 years I don't even notice reflections, and that's with it placed in a room with a large double west facing windows that blasts in full sun in the afternoon. Thanks for this comparison vid. I can tell a difference with the image quality. I'll be sticking with a glossy screen when it comes time to replace. 👍
100%. I got the 77 inch s95d yesterday and the whole family loves the matte coating! We are able to leave all the blinds open during the day and watch tv without any distractions! At night, it performs as good as the best oled in the market! No regrets!

Im guessing using filmmaker mode on both would create very similar brightness with probably the s95d appearing slightly more saturated?, i would have preferred to see s95d movie compared to cinema home on the g4 since those are the less accurate more brighter modes, cinema is the accurate mode for the g4 so it would obviously appear dimmer than movie on the s95d, so i would have preferred it being compared with filmmaker mode, but overall nice job.

Hello .. what I want to know about these tvs is how the picture looks when I watch low quality videos ( 720 and 480 ) .. because most of the satellite channels are in these range of quality and my old videos saved in my external drive are the same .. I own C1 for solid 3 years. Setting in living room, near to the floor-to-ceiling windows, having 70% on PS and Switch, and 30% on football matches and 4K movies. Man, I can tell you, the C1 looks magnificent only in low-light conditions or at night, but it's completely useless during the daytime because of its low brightness. I can't play my games because my eyes get tired and start tearing up after an hour from staring at the TV and straining my eye muscles in a bright living room, plus the reflective panel makes things worse. I just switched to S95D a week ago, man I can tell you it's worth the money. people who said reflective panel looks "cooler" and more elegant. I can tell they didn't own those TV and just assume matte screen looks "cheap" compared to crystal panel. Nobody wants a big and expensive reflective stupid panel in a bright living room.

Hi, a curiosity... who among Sony, Panasonic and LG performs the best upscaling and who has the best motion processor for SDR streaming content? I would like to get the best live viewing for streaming sports content compressed with h264 and h265 codecs for example. Panasonic has now improved with the new MZ2000 models and with the new mk2 processor on Z95A on this side and I've seen LG has also improved... Sony still remains a point of reference or have things changed? I saw that Panasonic uses an IFC Accurate for Upscaling. In conclusion, how are Sony Panasonic and LG positioned in this area? Thanks again Denis.
@@ThaVillaManyou can tell by the angle and direction of the sun light that the sun is low and the LG is facing almost directly at it. Not nearly as much direct light on the Samsung.
I would choose the G4 all day. The LG is sharper and has a better color accuracy where as the S95D’s picture is softer and the color is washed out. The Deer and Lizard comparison tells it all.
@@enzopied3015 This doesn't change the reality. I know Villa man is a pro and gave us both tvs at their peak settings and the LG is just better in color accuracy and sharpness and to me better overall.
Fake Samsung internal settings to attract the clueless. Anyone who knows anything can see that the LG is far superior plus no DV on one so don’t even understand why this is even a question. Samsung should be going up against the likes of Hisense for true comparison

I think the issue with s95d is still the lack of a polarizer with qd-oled that can further improve bright room performance. I'm not a fan of matte displays but I'd be interested to see how a polarizer will improve the matte look.
A polarizer filter would make the tv less bright. Also with a polarizer, black would look black even in bright rooms, without the need of matt coating!
What if I told you I elected to keep the g4 over the s95d . The media playback is smoother . The Samsung was like watching everything as cartoons . Sports look better on the lg also . So keep your measurements. I loving the lg g4
The picture quality on the LG G4 is gorgeous and makes every details pop (almost out of the screen) I wouldn't change this for any other TV, I'm very satisfied! LG recently released a new firmware update, that supposedly adds 300-400 extra nits to the TV.
That was a superb review, and thanks to it I think the screen debate is over. A matte screen has all the upside downs of a LED tv, except that it also has the downs of a OLED combined. Sure it's a genius thing to go for it 😂
I have a chance to buy the G4 77" for 3250 dollars, thats like 22% off ,is that a good deal or should I wait for BF offers in november or for a deal for the S95D
I will purchase the Samsung on Black Friday. I'm completely convinced with the Samsung Mat screen after comparing it in the shop. I currently have an old Pioneer Plasma with 55" with reflection coating (as the LG G4 coating), I'm very distracted by the light reflection contours on the TV. I rather have less contrast. What was not discussed here, is that Samsung has a separate connection box (different video inputs, audio output, which can be hidden in the furniture below the TV (you only see 1 cable). Another point that is not discussed, is calibration of the colours. I hate so far the oversaturated colours of the OLED displays. The first thing I want to do is, scale down the color saturation to a natural levels. Or calibrate the screen.
Question: Would you be able to measure/compare APL capabilities of those sets?. In higher APL scenes we lose brightness which means lower contrast and lowers the depth perception - so that is as important as pure blacks, more important than peak brightness alone. A lot of people say G4 is brighter in real content - that is probably due to higher APL (or worse Samsung tone mapping). Perhaps the combination of inky blacks that WOLED has and higher APL than ever before (it apparently draws 30% more energy over G3 and can heat up the room) - could unlock this 3D pop people are talking about. Perhaps it’s not only thanks to better processing but higher overall picture brightness. Possibly they have crossed this threshold of contrast/brightness where objects stand out to our eyes. Would love for someone to compare APL to see the difference between them. Ps. I know you compared subjectively APL here but this was in incompatible modes - inaccurate Samsung and accurate LG. You would need to load up min 2000 or 4000 nit content and see them on both what it looks like in bright scenes.
Huh? Did I miss something Why didn’t you use FMM on the Samsung? You compared LGs accurate mode to Samsungs inaccurate mode? No wonder they tracked EOTF differently - this wasn’t a good comparison.
@@EDGARGARCIA-pj2vd Then I don't know. Maybe your TV is broken. My G3 is super colourful, so your G4 should be even more. Try a different picture mode.
@@EDGARGARCIA-pj2vd lol, ok, troll . QD OLED DOES look better (I have a Sony QD OLED, too) . But not 10 times better. Maybe 20% better. And the LG definitely doesn't look dull.
I won’t buy another OLED TV until the elements last much longer. I have an S95B and have no issues atm but for me the tech is still too sensitive. Between these two, I prefer Samsung’s image but the UI it’s horrible and confusing and it seems more prone to burn in, so I think I would go with the G4. But as I need no new TV in 2024/2025, I’ll wait for better TVs. I think they still lack durability when used with regular TV channels or bright HDR

@7:07 the s95d whites look a lot more accurate/pure white than the G4, at least to my eyes. Don’t know if that’s how it looks like in person but the G4 seems to have a blueish tint. Thought Woleds were meant to have the brighter and more pure whites because of the white sub pixel?
S95D looking great 👍
Hello .. what I want to know about these tvs is how the picture looks when I watch low quality videos ( 720 and 480 ) .. because most of the satellite channels are in these range of quality and my old videos saved in my external drive are the same .. I tried the lg qned81 and it was a bad experience.. I wanted to buy another TV.. thanks
would be great if you could compare these 2 to the 85 inch BRavia 9. Would be great to know which is the best premium tv out of those 3 panels
Thank God for stumbling upon your video!
You are the best TV reviewer on UA-cam.
You got straight to the point, you care about our time and you upload HDR videos.
I don’t care how good anyone else is, if you don’t upload HDR, you are irrelevant!
All that is best from Romania!
Interesting video - thanks. I've gone 65" S95D. To replace a 6 year old 55" LG. But at this price, I am getting Samsung calibrated.
Please do gaming comparison. I would like to know how Samsung dims over time games like elder ring
Which one of these you recommend in 77inch, most use for watching/streaming movies, series from netflix etc. Watching soccer and some gaming? Light control is no issue
Same question here
you need to compare with S95C
same tech, if ypu want focus on finish type
Would be best!
please do the same video after TV positions are swapped ;)
Sony is still king in motion and upscaling
Hi,is matte finish affects to the black levels when content is playing on s95d ?Thank you.
What's the difference between the warranties?
Interesting point at @3:20 about off angle becoming more sharp.... Optics! I guess!
Shouldnt the tvs be facing the same direction?
What do you think is the benefit vs how they face in the video?
@@ThaVillaManyou can tell by the angle and direction of the sun light that the sun is low and the LG is facing almost directly at it. Not nearly as much direct light on the Samsung.
I would choose the G4 all day. The LG is sharper and has a better color accuracy where as the S95D’s picture is softer and the color is washed out. The Deer and Lizard comparison tells it all.
Its sharper because of the undefeatable sharpness lg baked in. Just put any other tv upto 20 sharpness(including other lg oleds) and you're there
@@enzopied3015 This doesn't change the reality.
Or you could just get the s90d which is exactly the same but doesn't have the dumb screen or one connect box for cheaper than both
Washed out😂😂, you are blind, woled g4 is pale, cant even show real colors are real world, white balance su.cks considerably, also if you dont watch right in front of tv you cant notice sharper image of g4, but paled woled colors can ve seen even from 5 meter😂😂
In which setting did you set the screen saver at 01:00? I upgraded from LG C8 to G4, but I couldn't find this setting anywhere in G4.
Thank you for this. An informative and bias free comparison.
The picture quality on the LG G4 is gorgeous and makes every details pop (almost out of the screen)
I wouldn't change this for any other TV, I'm very satisfied!
LG recently released a new firmware update, that supposedly adds 300-400 extra nits to the TV.
The Samsung is really good. I've had both (C2 and S95B), and I prefer the Samsung display. The matte finish would be great in my bright living room.
I had the CX then the s95b, massive upgrade!
What was the S95D's Delta E in Film Maker mode? Thanks.
09:30, thats why you want glossy if you have even moderately lit room
it really depends on where the light is coming from!
Not sure if I missed it. Did you have dynamic tone mapping on in the G4?
Yup
That was a superb review, and thanks to it I think the screen debate is over.
A matte screen has all the upside downs of a LED tv, except that it also has the downs of a OLED combined.
Sure it's a genius thing to go for it 😂
Love my Samsung OLED! First OLED tv and is absolutely stunning
Which oled did you get?
Hi does s95d come in 83 inch. If not would you recommend bravia 9 85 inch or g4 83 inch
I'm looking forward getting a LG g5 I know it has 165 Hertz hopefully it'll will work on the PS5 with the cable 😎
Thank you for the review , S95D is a banger , can’t wait the Black Friday
Can we put 77" Or 83" Inch Lg g4 on Stand, Is their a cabinet available at the back of the G4 for a stand
You can buy a stand for it.
I have a chance to buy the G4 77" for 3250 dollars, thats like 22% off ,is that a good deal or should I wait for BF offers in november or for a deal for the S95D
That’s a great deal, I wouldn’t look back
They have smart shades now 🤔 Jesus, i'm getting old ... i still do it the old way, like getting up and close the curtains.
The s95d are pre calibrated for this video?
Nope. I use out of the box for my comparisons. I measure their accuracy tho
Question:
Would you be able to measure/compare APL capabilities of those sets?.
Besides that’s QD OLED is just the superior technology
No clue
the matte is more cinematic. but i never watch TVs in movie mode it looks dull I watch in standard mode and tune in the picture
Which tv has more clarity between the Two
Haven’t tested them with low quality content yet. I’ll do it for the review
Movie mode with active tonemapping :on?
Yup
FYI, Cinema HOME would be a better setting to compare to Samsung's Movie mode.
Good video. Motion?
Great video! thanks.
Had the tools but did not do Post-calibration and EOTF correction comparison? That's disappointing.
Huh? Did I miss something Why didn’t you use FMM on the Samsung? You compared LGs accurate mode to Samsungs inaccurate mode? No wonder they tracked EOTF differently - this wasn’t a good comparison.
Very good video, thanks.
Thanks Bro !
Thanks for watching!
@@ThaVillaMan Do both tvs have film maker mode? if so which performed better in that mode?
My G4 colors look dull and lifeless while on your TV they’re more vibrant. Any idea why? Please help
turn off the energy saving
@@retropolis1 I did, that’s the first thing I did. Didn’t make a difference really. Colors still look dull
@@EDGARGARCIA-pj2vd Then I don't know. Maybe your TV is broken. My G3 is super colourful, so your G4 should be even more. Try a different picture mode.
@@retropolis1 I tired encanto on Disney which was ok. The picture looks 10x better in my S90C
@@EDGARGARCIA-pj2vd lol, ok, troll . QD OLED DOES look better (I have a Sony QD OLED, too) . But not 10 times better. Maybe 20% better. And the LG definitely doesn't look dull.
Its easy to dial back excessive colour saturation whilst theres nothing you can van do about white pixel diluting washing colours out
9:52 (S95D) That matte sucks.
Totally, i buy an Oled to have infinite contrast.
Why oled monitors cant get bright like this ?
I won’t buy another OLED TV until the elements last much longer. I have an S95B and have no issues atm but for me the tech is still too sensitive. Between these two, I prefer Samsung’s image but the UI it’s horrible and confusing and it seems more prone to burn in, so I think I would go with the G4. But as I need no new TV in 2024/2025, I’ll wait for better TVs. I think they still lack durability when used with regular TV channels or bright HDR
Look at how much richer and more entertaining the Samsung is. WOLED is inferior.
Another smooth brain, comment. Please advise any tv that is rated higher than the g4. Feel free to look at RTINGS, and almost any reputable site. Go ahead, I’ll anxiously await your reply
Camera tells you nothing go see them in person and both are brilliant
It's over saturated giving the perception of being a lot brighter than it is
@@AndrewB23Very true the typical consumer just wants a huge display that is super colorful. This is why Samsung is dominating the TV industry.
