Unbeatable - Samsung S90C QD OLED 2024 Review
The Samsung S90C may have been released in 2023, but it's so good that it's still unbeatable in 2024. Many S90C models today have the ability to nearly go toe to toe with the LG G4 when it comes to picture quality, and do so at less than half the cost when discounts are applied. If you are thinking about buying an S90D in 2024 you may want to reconsider as early reports are showing only a small improvement over the S90C in many areas for an enormous price increase, and while the LG G4 is a seamless experience and it does also come with Dolby Vision, its over 2X the cost...

@Games_and_Tech It's simple. Much higher brightness for HDR, noticeably richer color volume, better game mode that maintains HDR brightness and color saturation. People that own these (such as this person and myself) along with reviewers keep trying to sing the praises of how superior QD-OLED is to WOLED but there is still an army of loyal LG fans fighting that good fight I guess. Not saying that that's you, but the tech is clearly superior. I have friends with Sony and LG OLEDs and my S90C stomps them. It's literally the best of both worlds between bright mini LED and perfect contrast of OLEDs

@@stephenpatterson8056 I had a Lg oled monitor the 27in QHD 240hz from.LG, it lasted 1 week ans I returned, it was dimmer and I hate the coating . Then I got the alienware qd-oled 34 inches and I really loved it, it is not perfect but I have been arguing with people for the same thing qd oled vs woled... now when I see the lg oled in the stores, it looks great to me, I only have mini leds tv, but I am thinking in a oled tv, that is why I asked. On the back of the TV or the box, does your version state FA01, FA02 or FA03?
This could help indicate v1 or v2 without checking the menu, alongside the letters on the back being WX or XX, where the second X is the month and W= 2023 , X = 2024.
I would love to know about the FA0X values.

I bought a 55 inch s90C as my PC monitor last year. If you are concerned with the size on your desk and want to make the picture smaller, you can adjust the pixels to 21:9 mode in the gaming options for 3840x1600. My Nvidia 4090 interprets this as native resolution and will go to 144hrtz. This results in a ~50 widescreen image with black bars on top and bottom. If that is still too big, you can set the resolution to 2560x1600 or 2560x1440 (while still in the 21:9 game mode) and you will get a 16:9, 35 inch image with black bars around the screen. I can't measure brightness but it seems even brighter like this which may be the ABL not dimming as much since you are not using the whole screen. So you get a very flexible device for full 55 inch 4K (with full TV app features and PS5 and Xbox series X 4K compatibility), about 50 inch widescreen, and 35 inch 16:9 reduced resolution display all at 144hrtz and all from the same device. Its much brighter than the new 32 inch QD OLEDS and when I figured out the 35 inch setting (albeit only at 2560x1440 resolution) decided not to purchase one.

Wish I could get a QD-OLED display for my living room. Just a shame they don't make smaller than 55 inches. The old TV stand we've had since the 90s is way too small for 55 inches. We had to remove all the shelves and cabinets just to fit a 43 inch TV.

PPI will be the same on every 4K display of the same size. Not like some will be better than others. Just depends on the size of the screen. Text clarity as he mentioned isn't perfect due to the pixel structure but it looks good to my eye at couch distance on a 77". Obviously issues there wouldn't be as noticeable to me since I'm not right on top of it like a PC desk setup

    • @stephenpatterson8056

Because Samsung knows that's what MOST people want to see. I spent YEARS selling TVs around the time Samsung kinda came outta nowhere and shot up to number 1 TV mfr in the world. They realized that the general population likes bright and vibrant. All the customers that I helped that was often their sole deciding factor on a TV. Which one on the wall was the most vibrant and colorful. So Samsung just kept doing that, other companies lagged behind in copying them, now Samsung destroys them in sales. Can't blame them, they're giving the people what they want. I'm just glad they also give us enthusiasts now the ability to easily undo all of that. Like he said with some simple adjustments my S90C looks Sony level in terms of color

@@stephenpatterson8056 I guess if I knew about that a week ago I'd have got that instead. But I've been so happy with my 42" c2 the last 6 months I figured I'd love the 55" c3. And I didn't want to hassle with a return. I decided to set up my new c3 this evening and I'm super happy with it. I feel like the differences aren't big enough for me to pay a bit more and go through returning my c3. Maybe I'll upgrade in a couple years when I can get a substantial upgrade.

I got burned by an S95C with signal dropout at 120hz and 144hz. I'm having trouble trusting Samsung again, but no doubt their picture quality is incredible.

That was a specific issue for some reason with the S95C one connect boxes. Don't think other 2023 one connect models had that issue. And it seems like it was resolved for the S95D. But yeah wouldn't recommend the S95C for that reason. Luckily the S90C is just as good for less money. Really was the deal of 2023 and now still a few months into 2024 it's a best buy. Just gotta learn how to deal with Samsung's UI quirks but that image quality is worth it for me

That's due to the 40GB max HDMI ports vs the normal 48GB needed for 144hz.
If am not mistaken 120hz at 10bit is like 39.8GB and 144hz 10bit is 47.8GB but some people managed to get 144hz without issues.

@saadhero9107 It's not that. The boxes had buggy boards in them. People that have had the boxes replaced/repaired and people with S95D haven't had issues. Also other one connect equipped models didn't have that issue. Was something specific to many (but not all) of the boxes included with S95C

    I bought a 48 inch LG C2 (£800) and a 55 inch Samsung S90C (£720) last month.
The S90C is very obviously better than the LG C2. It is a much more colourful display.

My concerns with this TV are two fold- the processing and the reliability. Buying a TV (and selling off my old one) is such a hassle. I don't ever want to have buyer's remorse as the process of selling/ returning one is such a pain- especially at 77"+, where it can't fit into a standard passenger vehicle.

Dude when are you going to do the tutorial on buffing out the matte finish on monitors?? Nobody cares about these TVs. You got to start making more unique videos to stand out on UA-cam. You will be the first one on UA-cam to post it. How do you not see a golden opportunity here??? If you don't do it soon I am...

I agree, and annoyingly I waited a year to buy it for cheaper and it isn’t even available anymore, at least not th 55 inch I’m after. And sites that do have it overcharge. So yeah this whole world just sucks ass

What's the FA0X value on the back?
Is the X = 1 or = 2 in your case? But that aside your panel won't be that much different compared to v2.
