I noticed you don’t mention 5:5 pulldown, last years models (like my 90C) had a major issue with it. Between panning shots it would micro freeze the image. This caused major problem for me!😢 The issue is negated only by enabling de judder to 2-4 clicks or disabling picture clarity completely or running AppleTV or Google TV in a Game Mode! I settled to run more de judder for sports 4 clicks and for shows 2 clicks as I don’t notice soap opera effect, but for other people who are more sensitive to this effect this would be a major issue. Hopefully with next review this would be also mentioned from here on forward ❤ It would be lovely if ratings actually could communicate this issue to Samsung about last year models, so they could actually address it 🙏
Hello everyone! I wanted your opinion regarding my current situation of S90D So basically, I got a really sweet deal on the S90D 77" which was here on HUGE sale in Middle east Saudi Arabia for around 2300$ which is super nice for that price! I used to have a Sony x9000h 75" but decided to upgrade, anyways the issue is I just found out after making the purchase and awaiting the delivery that there is some sort of panel lotteries specifically in the S90D lineup that you could get a WOLED panel in that TV. After extensive research I have found out that my TV is going to be WOLED and not QD-OLED in Saudi Arabia which was a bummer to me honestly. Nevertheless, people were saying i'm going to have blast either way since i'm coming from a regular LED TV and I agree. But I wanted to take your opinion guys regarding this, since after seeing the comparisons between WOLED and QD-OLED that the colors are SO much more vibrant and nicer in the QD-OLED. so should I return the TV and get the S90C for the same exact price or should I just continue with this purchase and it's going to be nice still? Keep in mind that the only S90C that is left that I can take is the one displayed in their store, and it's in the same exact price of the S90D that I'm getting and it's brand new, and in that case I would be guranteed a QD-OLED display since I think that there were no WOLED panel in the S90C lineup. Appreciate you guys for reading this and taking the time, anyone's opinion is welcome and looking forward to hear from you guys! Love from Saudi 💙

how is the white luminance uniformity? My S89C becomes darker blue on the top right of the panel when the whole screen is white. Is this issue present on the S90D too?
We usually buy the size we expect to be useful to a larger number of users. That usually ends up being the 65”. And since we buy all the products we test ourselves, we don’t usually test mutliple sizes. Sorry about that!
Are you sure it does LPCM 7.1? I notice that Rtngs often report this wrongly for Samsung TV. Say you connect a PS5 and set the PS5 to PCM, do you get 7.1 passthrough or rather only 5.1 or worse stereo? I bet it shows stereo like for all Samsung TVs. Otherwise pls let us know how you test the audio passthrough.
4:02 this whole eARC limitation only matters if your media source (bluray player/ Apple TV) is plugged into the TV's HDMI for picture and the eARC HDMI is used to pass on sound to your AV receiver to handle sound right? If you plug your source into your receiver to handle audio and use your receiver's HDMI out into the TV, it's a non-issue right? and if you're using a built-in app on your TV as a media source then god bless you i guess

Hi @RTings How do you calibrate this TV exactly? for more accurate colors. I tried using my Samsung Phone to Calibrate it. Do you think that's good enough ? Do we need any fancier setup to perform the calibration? I wish we could share settings file, so everyone could import them ...May be in the future @Samsung
Hey guys! Just wanted to know before purchasing this one, does the low quality content smoothing is a deal breaker here? In other words, what considered as a low quality content here? I dont want to buy the c4 but i think that this is a pretty good reason to go for it, isnt it? Thanks a lot
The panel lottery on 55 inch is holding me back on hitting buy button and this is currently in my cart, cant understand why samsung cant clarify their stand on this. Region wise this might change.
I wouldn't buy another Samsung product. I've had Samsung TV's and Clothes Washers and they all fail prematurely (perhaps by design). My 12 Y.O. Panasonic Plasma is still going great however.
The tv has ads!? I noticed from your video that in order to wall mount this TV you would beed to secure it from the bottom half, instead of from the center like most older TV's. Is this typical these days with thinner tv's?
The model number in Western Canada is QN65S90DAFXZC. Is this a QD-OLED panel? The last 4 letters are the same on the 55 inch, 65" and 77". however the 83" is different.

The S90D lost one feature the S90C has. Like LGs 2024 OLED TVs, S90D has a regular ATSC tuner, not an ATSC 3.0 tuner of the S90C. This was one reason i bought 77" & 65" S90C at clearance pricing. Will buy an LG G4 when prices come down as i want one OLED TV with Dolby Vision & DTS support, as i have hundreds of 4k Ultra movie discs. Would prefer the better processing of the SONY OLEDs, but don’t want to pay the "SONY TAX" when buying multiple TVs.
The 48 inch S90D is WOLED, in any country. Only the 55, 65, and 77 are available with QD-OLED. In the U.S. 55, 65, 77 are all QD-OLED. Outside of North America some of those might also be WOLED.
You can get a magnifying glass or zoom in with the phone and look at pixels. If you see 3 RGB square like pixels - it is QD-OLED If you see 4 tight packed columns pixels one of which is white - it's WOLED
In europe it’s only the 65“ model with the qd oled. All other models are woled. This is very confusing for uninformed customers, who think they are getting a qd oled.
Remember people: Never update your firmware on a /Samsung/ TV. They will nerf it to oblivion before newer models come out. Samsung is the only company that does it.
How is qn90b in 2024? Also how does QN90B in comparison to QN85C. I could not buy other model from samsung neo qled as they're very highly priced in my place. Which one has better local dimming and less blooming.

Hey, love from India. Actually I m confused between LG c3, c4 and Samsung 90D.please suggest which one to buy or you let me know if you have any other model with similar price. I am not fan of super video quality but I am fan of excellent audio as I m using bose latest soundbar. So I m looking for a TV that give good audio out to soundbar that support Dts Dolby Atmos etc. I mostly watch Netflix, Disney hotstar etc. Thanks for the video
Go to near by store and have a look , I would prefer lg c4 but if u can get qd oled and 3 year warranty it is a steal deal....check crossed leds on screen for qd oled
There is still issue with S95B, C and this one with TV and dual monitor setup, when u turn off tv when u hear click sound from TV it disconnect second monitor, and when u turn on TV it turn on aswell.
im fine with woled for the 48 inch due to qd-oled isn't available for that size. plus i have a lg c1 and can not buy another lg cause my setup is a gaming type so if i have two lg tvs one remote will control both tvs so im fine
So since this one Cannot pass thru Dts, does that mean I can’t watch my Blu-rays & 4K movies thru my home theater system (?), or does that only mean it won’t do that if you just use the TV’s speakers themselves? 🤷♂️🤔
I wouldn't buy Samsung becaus ethe software truly gets worse and slower with time. My QN90A sometimes is unusable, like it's not just slow. It's infuriating.
I got a Q70C and I couldn’t agree more + the picture quality is garbage for 4k panel. No matter if I max sharpness, picture remains blurry and it’s motion handling is bad, a lot of ghosting. Had a technician come in and he said it’s working perfectly as intended and there’s nothing wrong with it…..

Part of me would've felt guilty getting it at that price, but part of me also really really hoped it had shipped, haha!
In Germany this week I bought an S94D (S90D) in 77 inch it's WOLED but I get an free S24 with it an 250€ Cashback. I sold both and could get the TV for about 1000€.
Wanted the C4 77 inch but costs min. 1900€
Thank you for the great review. Can you tell me if the 77inch is QD-OLED? Thank you
Peter
It is in North America.
@@Icipher4 Thank you. I'm in western Canada
@@PETERThompson-e6h yeah all 77 in North America are QD OLED. Unfortunately for our European friends that might not be the case.
@@Icipher4 Great thank you
77 inch is WOLED in Australia.
Excellent review. Thanks.
Thank you! 😄
Is there a way to know which panel I got before I open the box?
I noticed you don’t mention 5:5 pulldown, last years models (like my 90C) had a major issue with it.
Between panning shots it would micro freeze the image.
This caused major problem for me!😢
The issue is negated only by enabling de judder to 2-4 clicks or disabling picture clarity completely or running AppleTV or Google TV in a Game Mode!
I settled to run more de judder for sports 4 clicks and for shows 2 clicks as I don’t notice soap opera effect, but for other people who are more sensitive to this effect this would be a major issue.
Hopefully with next review this would be also mentioned from here on forward ❤
It would be lovely if ratings actually could communicate this issue to Samsung about last year models, so they could actually address it 🙏
thank you after seeing your test I buy them from amazon qd oled 55 but for the sound I recommend a sound bar
Hello everyone!
I wanted your opinion regarding my current situation of S90D
So basically, I got a really sweet deal on the S90D 77" which was here on HUGE sale in Middle east Saudi Arabia for around 2300$ which is super nice for that price!

@abdulmalikamansouri5976 could you please share which tv did you end up buying?
how is the white luminance uniformity? My S89C becomes darker blue on the top right of the panel when the whole screen is white. Is this issue present on the S90D too?
When you talk about HDMI connectics of such tvs don't forget to explain which kind of HDMI they are, 2.0 or 2.1, you missed it
I love samsung QDOLED tv, the colors are much superior and produces more natural skin tones than LGs oled tvs
1050 vs 1200 nits from last year - meh - if you can find a clearance S90c or S89c - its probably a better deal overall
No atsc 3.0 tuner in none of Samsung 2024 models
Best Tv Out there in the market....obviously looks terrible out of the box , but it has the tools....
Abby, can you please tell, which firmware of s90d have you reviewed ?
Since samsung is very notorious of nerfing their tvs after the update.
Thank you so much for all of the reviews! I was just wondering will there be a 77inch for the Samsung S90d? I cant seem to find it in that size
Thats what i would think too.
I bought the s90d for mostly gaming might watch news a little bit off satellite reason being because the store discounted it to s90c closeout price. They also added a 3 year warranty which sounds like I might need? I can say my LG c9 has ran flawless for going on 5 years in my family room
😊I saw Abby presenting, I clicked the video so fast 💨 n furious! 🎊
Amazing review, I have a question is the s95c better?

It's last years Flagship, so It likely is.
If you take a look through our comparison viewer, the S90D is slightly better in terms of both processing and HDR brightness www.rtings.com/tv/tools/compare/samsung-s95c-oled-vs-samsung-s90d-s90dd-oled/37894/49703?usage=1&threshold=0.10
The S90D is even a little cheaper than the S95C!
Awesome love my s90c
It’s verfied. In Germany only the 65inch has a QD Panel, all others have a WOLED panel. So annoying I wanted a 55inch.. now I’m confused if I should get the Samsung S90C instead to get the right inch with my QD OLED. So if anyone knows. S90C 55inch (1099€) or S90D 65inch (1299€)?
Lots of useful detail, yet not one mention of the one thing I want to know. How does the bluetooth auracast feature perform?
Hi @RTings
How do you calibrate this TV exactly? for more accurate colors.
What did you end up getting? I’m on the same boat. Is the S90D good enough to stream movies? Thanks
The panel lottery on 55 inch is holding me back on hitting buy button and this is currently in my cart, cant understand why samsung cant clarify their stand on this. Region wise this might change.
It’s gonna be qd oled for 55-77, it’s only 42,48, and 83 that use woled
@@alexx1917 Hope so i bought it just now.
@@alexx1917Not true. It varies by region
I wouldn't buy another Samsung product. I've had Samsung TV's and Clothes Washers and they all fail prematurely (perhaps by design). My 12 Y.O. Panasonic Plasma is still going great however.
Thanks for helping
Nice video nice review keep up the good work
Great review. thx
Thank you for watching! 😄
The last 4 letters are the same on the 55 inch, 65" and 77". however the 83" is different.
when come the test for the 42 inch s90d ?
No plans to buy and test that model unfortunately :(
@@RTINGSdotcomare you payed by Samsung or something?

I agree but the matte one isn't too bad
@@nttinvis says eveyone who has NOT had full gloss screen . Once u have glossy laptop screen u can’t go back with matte . If u have had matte all the time , then it’s not too bad .
@Yoga_Tv_buying i dont like matte i saw s95d its matte isn't bad for a matte screen but it still hurtz quality
@@nttinvis hey appreciate that. Yeah “not too bad” is def too bad enough for most tho for TV buying .Matte screen is like a STACY/chad has acne scars all over face. Cant escape it.
@Yoga_Tv_buying i agreee it destroys the color vibration and makes it look less vibrant and crisp, they should just do like the gorilla glass anti reflective
As Tom Cruise suggested that we should disable Motion smoothening while watching movies to avoid soap opera effect but if I do that how bad will the stutter be? as you said motion smoothen can clear out much of the stutter but how bad it is for movie maniacs. Is OLED not for movie enthusiasts ?
OLED is ABSOLUTELY for movie enthusiast!
@@serge4in1what about stuttering at 24fps ?
@@bruceparker3139 judder or stutter, on an OLED screen is exaggerated because of it's almost instantaneous pixel response.
So the samsung S90C and the S90D are both on sale here in Australia. S90C is a guaranteed QD-OLED whereas the S90D has the whole panel lottery with high chances of it being WOLED. Which one should I get?

As someone that unwittingly bought a 77" WOLED S90D, make ABSOLUTELY sure that you're getting a QD-OLED instead.
How do you know ?@@damiensmith3881
@@damiensmith3881 How can we tell, is it listed on the box somewhere?
The S90D lost one feature the S90C has. Like LGs 2024 OLED TVs, S90D has a regular ATSC tuner, not an ATSC 3.0 tuner of the S90C. This was one reason i bought 77" & 65" S90C at clearance pricing. Will buy an LG G4 when prices come down as i want one OLED TV with Dolby Vision & DTS support, as i have hundreds of 4k Ultra movie discs. Would prefer the better processing of the SONY OLEDs, but don’t want to pay the "SONY TAX" when buying multiple TVs.
Do you notice the ota picture difference in S90C? What's the ota resolution? I'm in Chicago and trying to decide between S90C and s90d. Thanks!
Can you confirm if the UK models are QOLED or WOLED for the 55”
Thank you
Do you really notice a big difference between the color gamut/brightness of G4 vs S90/S95D?
Yes
No
Awesome thanks!
Can't Wait For 2024 Sony Bravia Tvs 😍
I'm on a website selling the tv. They don't write anything about 48 inch being WOLED. Is it then QOLED, or they just have misinformation there?
The 48 inch S90D is WOLED, in any country. Only the 55, 65, and 77 are available with QD-OLED. In the U.S. 55, 65, 77 are all QD-OLED. Outside of North America some of those might also be WOLED.
5:14 so the power of the sun, in the palm of my hands?
In greece according to samsung hellas the s90d in all sizes are woleds and NOT qd-oleds
how can you tell what kind of panel it is? and that audio problem about no dts.. is that just on the one input?
You can get a magnifying glass or zoom in with the phone and look at pixels.
If you see 3 RGB square like pixels - it is QD-OLED
If you see 4 tight packed columns pixels one of which is white - it's WOLED
I do watch A lot of SDR Free to air And need a TV that will clear up the NOISE What brand,Model Is Best ???
In europe it’s only the 65“ model with the qd oled. All other models are woled. This is very confusing for uninformed customers, who think they are getting a qd oled.
Is it using the new 3rd Gen panel or its last year's 2nd?
Remember people: Never update your firmware on a /Samsung/ TV. They will nerf it to oblivion before newer models come out. Samsung is the only company that does it.
Nah just get an external box, Apple TV, Google TV, Fire stick, anything is better than you TV's OS.
4:50 can you expand upon this? Ads? It was said like I'm supposed to know what you mean

Go to near by store and have a look , I would prefer lg c4 but if u can get qd oled and 3 year warranty it is a steal deal....check crossed leds on screen for qd oled
in germany 55 inch is woled, and 65 inch atleast mostly seems to be qdoled
Got a 65 inch S90D a few fays ago. The Xbox and PS5 hdr calibration seem to clip at 900 nits. What's the deal with that?
Guys help, 65” s90d for 1.300€ brand new, should i buy?
Never owned an Oled
Yes get it
There is still issue with S95B, C and this one with TV and dual monitor setup, when u turn off tv when u hear click sound from TV it disconnect second monitor, and when u turn on TV it turn on aswell.
im fine with woled for the 48 inch due to qd-oled isn't available for that size. plus i have a lg c1 and can not buy another lg cause my setup is a gaming type so if i have two lg tvs one remote will control both tvs so im fine
So since this one Cannot pass thru Dts, does that mean I can’t watch my Blu-rays & 4K movies thru my home theater system (?), or does that only mean it won’t do that if you just use the TV’s speakers themselves? 🤷♂️🤔
Loved my ks8000 but when it comes to OLED I’ll stay with LG they have the best oled’s and have awesome customer service
that jacket is fire
👀👀
I wouldn't buy Samsung becaus ethe software truly gets worse and slower with time. My QN90A sometimes is unusable, like it's not just slow. It's infuriating.
My old 7000U I moved to the bedroom is the same way.
My Sony android tv which is only 4-5 years old is terribly slow now. Most smart TVs will slow down after a few years.
Get an apple tv 4k...
You just described literally every single computer. They'll all slow down eventually
I truly don’t understand why they can’t add DTS support
They can but don't want to pay the $$$.
Nice video. Is the S90D really any better than the S90C? In other words, if I can save a little money on S90C, should I get that instead?
Probably. The chances you actually “see” a difference is almost zilt. I’d just get one and use it the next 8-10 years.
Waiting for Samsung qn 800D 800D review and upscaling performance details
