The most talented set of rock musicians ever brought together. It’s impossible to believe that will ever change. You need to check out ‘When the Levee Breaks’ and ‘Kashmir.’
Led Zeppelin are one of the best-selling music artists of all time; their total record sales are estimated to be between 200 and 300 million units worldwide. They achieved eight consecutive UK number-one albums and six number-one albums on the US Billboard 200, with five of their albums certified Diamond in the US.
You started listening to the song after 2/3 of it had already been played! That’s why you said no intro? You skipped the intro and a whole lot more. 😂 Luckily you figured it out and played the studio version from the beginning. Nice reaction. My top five rock artists are: Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, and AC/DC. Honorable mention goes to Chuck Berry, Little Richard.
Led Zeppelin released a concert movie in 1976 called 'The song remains the same'... In those years, Led Zeppelin refused to appear on TV and the only way u could see the band was in concert... So, fans flocked in numbers to see them live and they were outselling the biggest bands of that era by 3-to-1... The concert filmed was in the Summer of 1973 in Madison Square Garden, NYC... but it was the last show of the tour and Zeppelin was not happy w/ the performance. It was also marred by an incident when they discovered that they had been robbed of $200K cash ( Over 1 million $$$ in today's money) which was in a hotel safety deposit box... Someone who worked at the hotel had apparently made a duplicate key and made off w/ their tour revenue. The crime was never solved unfortunately... Each member of Led Zeppelin was filmed in a 'fantasy sequence' for the movie... but the movie proved problematic, so it was shelved. In 1975, Robert Plant (vocals) was seriously injured in a car accident while on vacation in Greece... his wife barely survived, and Plant's ankle was badly damaged and he couldn't walk for over a year, much less perform on stage... Unable to tour, Led Zeppelin quickly recorded a new album 'Presence' that was released in 1976. That same year, Led Zeppelin decided to release the concert movie in '76 as 'The song remains the same'... It was the first time that people who never got to see Led Zeppelin could experience the band in concert. After the band broke up in 1980 after the death of drummer John Bonham, it was the only way newer fans could experience the band's concert for decades.
Welcome to peak of Mount Olympus in music, Robert Plant was THE Golden God of rock, Jimmy Page was the Magician of sound, John Bonham was the God of Thunder himself and John Paul Jones kept the heart pumping while you were lifted to soaring heights and desperate lows. They were the best i had ever heard in nearly 60 years. They Have no bad songs, even "Hot Dog" is awesome for just being a fun country style tune.
Led Zeppelin was an English band created in 1968 by guitarist Jimmy Page, who also produced all their albums. In addition to Jimmy, there was bassist and keyboardist John Paul Jones, drummer John Bonham, and vocalist and harmonica player Robert Plant. They played what was called "hard rock/heavy blues" but played a variety of styles. They disbanded in 1980 with the passing of Bonham. The guitar you saw in the clip is a Gibson double neck, EDS-1275, which has a 12-string guitar on the top neck and a 6-string on the bottom. It allows you to play either without having to switch guitars. For this song, he uses the 12-string for everything except the solo, where he switches to 6-string. Jimmy took the name from a comment from The Who drummer, Keith Moon, who, when talking about a different group, said they'd go over like a "lead balloon" (meaning they'd be failures) then switched it to "lead Zeppelin". Jimmy remembered the comment, dropped the "a" in lead so people wouldn't pronounce it like "leed" and used it as the name of the new band he created. Do react to the studio first before live because they do so much improvisation on live performances.
Most of what you've😂 just been told🎉 is correct. How the name originated was during a social setting with. ''The Who'" and the guys who WOULD become "Led Zeppelin.. Jimmy Page (lead guitar) had put together a previous band called the '"Yard Birds'" which had disbanded to the dismay of 18:08 their fans. Having put together this new band, they were sitting with The Who when the subject of the name came up. Jimmy Page suggested that they could be The Yard Birds 2, to which either Keith Moon or John Entwhistle (they still debate to this day as to who actually said it first) , that. The Yard Birds 2 WOULD go over like a lead balloon because of strong fan base The Yard Birds had. After thinking about it for a few days, Jimmy came back the the name Lead Zeppelin. Correct in that people would pronounce lead as leed thus the removal of the letter '" A"". Hope this helps.
When you mentioned that it seemed like it was getting faster... it actually WAS. This was done deliberately and broke what was considered the 'rule' of maintaining tempo. The song starts at just over 72 BPM and gradually gets faster in a way you barely notice. By the time the initial vocals are done it's over 85 BPM/ The transition brings the guitar solo up to around 95 BPM before the outro music/vocals go all the way over 102 BPM.
Brief history of Led Zeppelin: The band was formed in 1968 in England by Jimmy Page (guitar) after his band The Yardbirds split up... he needed new members and found Robert Plant (vocals) who was 19 at the time, singing in local bands in the Northern city of Birmingham... Plant recommended his friend John Bonham (drums) who was a powerful musician and could hit the drums like no other... Finally, a studio musician/ bassist John Paul Jones, who had worked w/ Page before, asked to join the new band. The first time the 4 musicians rehearsed together, they knew they had something incredibly powerful and special... a unique chemistry. Page named the band Led Zeppelin - it was from a joke that his friend Keith Moon (drummer of the band The Who) that if they formed a new band, it would 'crash & burn like a lead balloon'...Their first album released in early 1969 included blues cover songs and the album cover featured a zeppelin crashing - a photo of the Hindenburg zeppelin disaster in 1937. Led Zeppelin began touring N. America in 1969 and their new sound of 'heavy rock' was an instant hit... They recorded and released their 2nd album 'Led Zeppelin II' in '69 and it went to #1 on the US charts and scored a top 40 single - 'Whole lotta love'... 3rd album 'Led Zeppelin III' made a change in 1970 - they recorded mostly acoustic songs, and fans were disappointed that it was not a 'heavy rock' album... But Led Zeppelin were now headlining arenas on tour in Europe and N. America and selling out shows everywhere... Their critics in the press hated them and Zeppelin made the decision to not do any more press or TV appearances. Their 4th album was released in 1971 without a title (often called 'Led Zeppelin IV') and it became one of the biggest albums in history, selling 24 million copies in the US alone to date and scoring the massive hit - 'Stairway to Heaven'. In 1972, their 5th album 'Houses of the Holy' was another #1 hit and Led Zeppelin was officially the biggest band in the world by that point, drawing massive crowds to their concerts. They took a break in 1974 after years of touring and emerged in 1975 w/ a double album 'Physical graffiti'... and a massive world tour was planned. However, bad luck began to plague Zeppelin... Guitarist Jimmy Page broke his finger and had to play w/ it injured, which led him to using heroin for the pain... Singer Robert Plant got the flu on that tour... drummer John Bonham was drinking heavily and his antics got violent at times... While on vacation in Greece in '75, Robert Plant was seriously injured in a car accident and his ankle was damaged...With Plant injured and unable to perform live, Zeppelin decided to release a new album 'Presence' in 1976 and followed it up w/ a concert movie 'The song remains the same', which was filmed in 1973. In 1977, Led Zeppelin finally announced a massive tour of N. America... However, the tour was plagued by mishaps and incidents... Zeppelin's manager Peter Grant and drummer John Bonham were arrested in Oakland, California after they violently beat a security guard backstage at their show. The promoter banned Led Zeppelin from ever performing on the West Coast... The last shows were canceled after singer Robert Plant got news from his wife in Europe that their 5 yr old son Karac had died from a viral infection. Led Zeppelin never toured America again. In late 1978, Robert Plant finally agreed to work on new music w/ Led Zeppelin, but guitarist Jimmy Page was still struggling w/ heroin addiction and was not showing up... So, John Paul Jones wrote most of the music for the new album 'In through the out door' which was released in 1979 and became another massive #1 hit... Led Zeppelin performed 2 massive shows at Knebworth in England that Summer, but Robert Plant declined to do a full tour... Zeppelin would do shows around Europe by 1980, and then announced that Fall that they would tour N. America. Tragically, the tour never happened... While rehearsing in 1980, John Bonham (drums) was faring poorly from heavy drinking... he passed out one night and was found dead the next morning after choking on his own vomit. Led Zeppelin announced in late 1980 that the band would not continue without their late drummer. Robert Plant launched a solo career in 1982, but declined to play Led Zeppelin songs for years... None of the 3 members had the success of Zeppelin in later years... In 2007, Led Zeppelin performed what would be their final concert for charity... John Bonham's son Jason Bonham played drums for the show, and it was released as the live DVD/CD 'Celebration Day'.
the reason the surviving 3 members did not have the massive success is that they were doing other things. Jimmy Page was working with other bands and artists - much like Clapton did. John Paul Jones branched into alot of producing other artists and did not play that much. He was very busy as a producer and mixer. Robert Plant had quite a bit of success as a single artist in the 80s and 90s but he also skipped around doing alot of different genres and sounds. Plant was 32 when Zeppelin split and Page was in his late 30s. They did everything and experienced everything as young men of 20 and now they were exploring and doing projects that they were wanting to do. I did read that one reason Bonham drank so heavily was that he did not like being on the road so much and missed his family. In 80 with talk of doing a new tour he was contemplating leaving as it was. He did not want to be away from his family anymore. Drinking and getting drunk killed the pain of this. But, while home and recording a new album that fateful day, Bonham was by then a full out alcoholic and got drunk anyway. Only this time it was fatal
@@DianeLake-sw3ym Actually incorrect... Zeppelin's 3 surviving members could not replicate the chemistry they had together w/ the late John Bonham... That was what made Led Zeppelin special. U could say the same w/ The Beatles - separately, they were missing the collaborative talents. When The Police disbanded, Sting made solo records that sounded nothing like his famous band. Roger Waters could not replicate the success of Pink Floyd w/ his solo albums without Gilmour, Wright or Mason. After leaving Genesis, Peter Gabriel's solo records sounded nothing like the prog band he fronted... and Genesis w/ Phil Collins as the singer morphed into something else entirely... Plant & Page worked together briefly, but it wasn't the same without Jones or Bonham. Individual chemistry within bands often result in musical shifts without certain members... and Led Zeppelin could not make the same kind of music without the talent of John Bonham. Robert Plant had some success as a solo artist, but nowhere near Led Zeppelin's... His music was more along the lines of what he was into before he joined Zeppelin, and it was not heavy rock. He even said recently that it was not where he was creatively any more.
@@DianeLake-sw3ym As far as John Bonham's circumstances, we can only speculate... Ur logic doesn't fly because Led Zeppelin did not tour after their tragic 1977 run in America. John Bonham was nearly killed in a car accident after the tour while driving drunk... His alcoholism was escalating to the point that he barely even showing up in the studio in late 1978 when Zeppelin was writing and recording 'In through the out door'... He had lost his driver's license, and without a tour, Bonham spent month after month at home, unable to travel and went to the bars to drink w/ friends between 1978 and 1980. When Zeppelin played Knebworth in the Summer of '79, he had gained weight and looked burley... Zeppelin only played select shows in 1980, and Bonham was still drinking heavily off the road... he allegedly collapsed at one of the shows. His last rehearsal w/ Zeppelin was a disaster - he reportedly was so drunk he could not play, and a frustrated Jimmy Page dismissed him and the band for the day. He went off to drink more and came back to Page's house to apologize, but Page had left... So, he crashed in a guest room and that was where he was found dead the next morning. Despite what u may believe... John Bonham loved being a rock star - he wouldn't do groupies like Plant and Page, but he was the 'party guy'... practical jokes, entourages, parties, drugs, fancy clothes and vintage cars... Bonham indulged in all of that on tour. He was nicknamed 'Bonzo' and 'The Beast' for a reason... One of the things that troubled him was that he felt he never received the accolades of famous drummers like Ringo Starr, Keith Moon or Ginger Baker... He wanted to be that famous personality, but Zeppelin was a faceless band and he was often too drunk to talk to the press without becoming violent... (Van Halen's Michael Anthony recalled recently that he and Alex Van Halen saw John Bonham at an L.A. bar and tried to introduce themselves... and he took a drunken swing at them). I read that before he died, John Bonham wanted to make a 'heavy' Led Zeppelin record again, because 'In through the out door' was somewhat lighter... He was looking forward to making a new Zeppelin album when he died... And it was a long time coming, tragically... Bonham was only 20/ 21 when he became famous w/ Led Zeppelin and that fame did affect him negatively in certain ways... He had somewhat childlike behavior & emotions that didn't fit in the adult world, so he indulged in alcohol and drugs to cope w/ that pressure brought on by fame & expectations. But it was too late to help him by 1980 - he wouldn't listen to anybody, family or bandmates ... AC/DC's Bon Scott died the same way that year... Keith Moon of The Who also died in 1978 from addictions... and John Bonham was yet another casualty of excess in rock n' roll.
Led Zeppelin does all kinds of different styles of music but they really do blues music really well I would react to "you shock me" studio version.. cheers
This is probably *the* legendary song of the rock era. It isn't #1 on everybody's best of all time list, and it wasn't the best selling song ever, but it is impossible to describe what a phenomenon it was at the time. It permeated the culture far beyond just music, and since, it has been a touchstone in music history like few pieces have been.
All of Led Zeppelin's studio recordings were produced by perhaps the greatest music producer to ever live, Jimmy Page. Jimmy was also the bands guitarist and founder. Another reason to always listen to the studio tracks first is to hear the magic that Jimmy Page created in the recording studio. Peace
You are crazy if you think Jimmy's production was great. They are far and away the greatest rock band of all time but the reason I can't listen to them anymore has everything to do with Jimmy's terrible production. He should have hired Allan Parsons.
@@urex1717 My personal two favorite producers of all time are Jimmy Page and George Martin (who of course was the Beatles producer). Based on record sales, I think the majority of people on this planet would agree with me. Led Zeppelin are the 5th biggest selling musical artists of all time, behind only Michael Jackson at #4, Garth Brooks at #3, Elvis Presley at #2, and of course, The Beatles at #1. Led Zeppelin didn't get to be the 5th biggest selling musical artists of all time by sloppy production. I would put "Stairway to Heaven", "Since I've Been Loving You" or almost any other Led Zeppelin track up against anything Alan Parsons produced, and I would bet that the majority of people would choose the Led Zeppelin track. Don't get me wrong. I love Dark Side of the Moon as much as anybody else, but I'm not the biggest Pink Floyd fan by any stretch of the imagination, and this is coming from a guy who bought "The Wall" the first week it was released back in 1979. I mean, c'mon, let's not kid ourselves. Led Zeppelin was bigger than the Stones, bigger than AC/DC, bigger than Fleetwood Mac, and yes, bigger than Pink Floyd, and that's the simple reality, like it or not. Peace
Lead singer is Robert Plant. I bought all of Led Zeppelin's albums in the 1970s. They were amazing. They were influenced by early American blues writers and singers who they often did not give credit when they used some of their music.
The guitar is a twin neck Gibson SG. SG stands for solid guitar. It was custom built for Jimmy Page so he could play this song live. They have made em ever since.
Some songs are not meant to be rushed. Sit back in your chair, close your eyes, & take the journey. Next up.... Kashmir (studio 1971 then Celebration Day 2007 - John Bonham's son Jason is on drums & they have lost their swag one bit) Whole Lotta Love When The Levee Breaks Whole Lotta Love Black Dog Ramble On Dazed & Confused The Lemon Song Immigrant Song Achilles Last Stand That's a good start 😂
That's always the problem when listening to Led Zeppelin live before hearing the studio tracks. They were so improvisational, you can't really get a true understanding or appreciation of the original song if you start with the live track. I highly recommend always listening to the studio track first, especially when it comes to Led Zeppelin. Next, I would react to the song "Since I've Been Loving You" off of the album Led Zeppelin III, and again, please start with the studio recording, not the live version. Peace
You took the words right out of my mouth. NEVER, EVER recommend that someone listen to a LZ song live before someone hears the studio version. The main reason is because LZ had some of the WORST sound board techs in r-n-r history. They are of course good enough to shine through the shitshow of audio hell, but I've never heard a live version of any LZ song that sounded better live than on the record. Sure, if you want to WATCH them for the spectacle, go ahead...but if you want to hear perfection, you have to listen to the studio versions. That's where Page shined, and that's where his true genius lay. By the time he got on stage, he was ready to spread out and improvise, and that's always a hit or miss coin flip.
@@KingGreatnessKG Because it's true--at least compared to their recordings. Doesn't mean that every performance is horrible, but I've never seen a video of them playing that remotely compared to the quality of their studio recordings. Watching them perform is great if you want to see the show, but if you want to hear perfection, you ALWAYS go to their studio cuts. They actually had a large number of songs they never played in concert because they simply COULDN'T. Jimmy Page's genius was primarily as a producer and composer, not a live performer. He was a great studio guitarist, perhaps the very best ever. But by the time he got on stage, he was ready to improvise, and often he had no choice because there wasn't any way to reproduce what he created in the studio. It's just a fact. I'm not knocking the band...just pointing out that their perfection was found in the studio. For anyone who is hearing them for the first time, ALWAYS choose a studio cut. After that, you can watch all the live gigs you want.
@@KravMagoo I couldn't have said it better! I agree wholeheartedly! I hate to say it, but most of the people pushing for their live stuff appear to have an obsession with the imagery and aura of Led Zeppelin over the sound quality, performance quality, and composition quality of the songs (and I see quite a few women on here recommending live videos simply because they are attracted to the sex symbols that were Robert Plant and Jimmy Page). Their sex symbol status or aura doesn't make the songs better, and for someone hearing these songs for the first time, they can give two hoots about the bands sex symbol status or aura. They want to hear the songs. I think the people pushing for the live performances are in the minority of people watching these videos, but they are much louder that the majority of people who actually want reactions to the studio recordings. Yes, nobody ever looked cooler on stage holding a Les Paul than Jimmy Page. I mean, I get it, but only if the 1st time reactor has heard the original studio track first. It baffles me that this is even a debate. This isn't rocket science. It's simple. People should just let these 1st time reactors listen to the studio recordings first, the same way the rest of us did when we first heard these songs. Again, I agree with you wholeheartedly and I think you stated it perfectly. Peace
You listened to it the way I think it's supposed to be listened to and the way we used to listen to it back in the day. We didn't worry too much about the lyrics, we just picked those out that we could actually hear and imagined our own stories to go along with them--as strange as that may sound today.
Overrated??? No way!! Greatest band in history!! Watch .ore of their live performances!! Yes it is a Zeppelin movie! What happened to the whole beginning of the live version song?
really liked your reaction - welcome to Led Zeppelin! So much more to discover - they played so many different genres. Hope you'll check out more!! thanks.☮
No- not a flute... 3 different recorders in the album version. Live, Jonesy programs a Mellotron- an original in early synthesizer days, with their sound. Peace, love and bellbottoms.
The GOATS of Rock !! One singer..Robert Plant, one Lead Guitarist..Jimmy Page, one base and organ player..John Paul Jones and one incredible drummer..the late John Bonham!! Go down this rabbit hole..you won't be sorry!!
Check out the lyrics to this. I would suggest checking out their song "When the Levee Breaks." It is actually a song from 1929 that Zep pumped up to rock. I didn't know that song was so old until a few years ago, and it still blows my mind. Enjoyed this.. new sub! Looking forward to your journey.
Absolutely! When The Levee Breaks is 100% the perfect follow up to show the other, Hard Rock/Blues Rock side of the band. The most insistent groove ever recorded.
Stairway to Heaven ....Live or studio. That is the question and it depends on the song. NOT live IMHO The studio version is the one that was the most requested song in the history of music as per Casey Kasem circa 2005. The studio version is perfection.
So much more of their music to hear and enjoy. Consider starting with the first album and going in order to start out. Loved your reaction. Now you should hear the entire, live, Madison Square Garden performance of Stairway.
Concert footage is from their three night stand at Madison Square Garden in New York City in '73. The movie "The Song Remains The Same" came out the summer of '76. And is named after a great tune from their first album. The movie also has a vignette from each member showing a little bit of them selves. Helps you get to know them.
Yep,just Robert Plant lead singer,Jimmy Page on lead guitar,John Paul Jones on bass and keyboard,John " bonzo" Bonham on drums, all considered the best In their field, one if not the best rock band in the world 😊
Nice reaction to the greatest rock band ever. Enjoy the Led journey, I've been on it for 50yrs. Check out the greatest prog band ever called Yes and a song called Roundabout, studio version first always because that's the way they first envisioned the song. There a millions of gray hairs who love Led Zeppelin and Yes. Hint.
To answer your question, the song is about the choice between a material existence, and a more spiritual one. Each option is represented by one of the two ladies in the song. "The Lady who's sure all that glitters is gold..." represents material existence. She's all about the fine cars, and the big house, and the money and the bling -- the idea that having lots of money and "stuff" will make a person happy. "A Lady we all know, who shines white light..." represents a spiritual life. To a spiritual person, gold and money aren't special, because *everything* is gold -- everything has its own beauty. In the song, "there are two paths you can go by" and there's always "time to change the road you're on." So, the choice to live a material existence or a spiritual one is up to each individual. For those who decide to live a spiritual life, the key is to stop focusing on money and wealth, and get back in touch with the natural world. This is represented by "the Piper" who "is calling you to join him." The "Piper" is the Greek god Pan, the lord of the forests and the wilderness -- the god of nature. The other representation of nature is the "May Queen." In British folklore, she represents the return of life in the springtime, after a long winter. The song says that only by turning our minds back to nature can we find the path to a more spiritual existence, and achieve inner peace and calm. That calm makes us cool and solid and stable -- "To be a rock, and not to roll." The song was written in a time of considerable social upheaval and political division. The horrors of the Vietnam War broadcast on television every evening, and all the strife caused by those who did everything they could to resist the Civil Rights Movement, caused a lot of young people to question the values taught to them by their parents and grandparents. So, this song about the shift away from "worldliness" and toward a more natural spirituality (which is specifically not "religious" nor part of any hierarchical church orthodoxy), in response to the doubts about what people had been told they "should" value.
That was a very thoughtful reaction and you just gained a subscriber. A bad a** Zeppelin song is Dazed and Confused or anything they've done really. Keep up the great work!
Led Zeppelin was not only masters of Hard Rock, Rock'n Roll, and Ballads, they were masters with Blues and Jazz. An excellent example is "Since I've Been Loving You" from their Led Zeppelin 3 album. Enjoy!
The first video you played started halfway through, missing the first half which has most of the lyrics. How will I get to sleep tonight - I'm so stressed, lol. I hope you'll check out 'When The Levee Breaks' soon. It's one of my favourite Led Zeppelin tracks (although I have lots of favourites).
Considered one of the anthems of rock n roll. Jimmy actually doesn't hold a note and it buzzes during the song. Probably because the cost of recording it stayed in the song. But it's cool it's there in a classic.
Listen to the live version from the beginning, much better than the studio version ! Robert plant singer ! Jimmy Page on guitar [ top part 12 string bottom 6 string ] rhythm & lead , John Paul Jones on bass and keyboards, the late John Bonnam on drums , legendary band
One of the many reasons that guitar stores throughout the entire planet ban anyone from playing Stairway To Heaven is because it is such an iconic song. I have kind of a hard time listening to it because it was so overplayed forever on the radio but I have to bow my head to the younger generation that has never enjoyed it.
One of my favs from the Zep. You certainly went with the flow and joined many millions before you. I really like your groove. "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" is another magical moment from them it's a cover of an old song and they just create the mood beautifully, Link below. Peace and love from Bonny Scotland. P.S. Rush were big fans and influenced by Led Zeppelin among others.
Rumors were that Jimmy Pages new band was going to go down like a Led zeppelin, so Jimmy Page decided to call the band 'Led Zeppelin', The point being that they were going to make it fly.
Great Reaction! Youve stumbled on to some of the most talented rockers ever known. You should check out the full live version. Also, Whole lotta love, Since Ive been loving you, Immigrant Song, soo much more!
Double neck guitar. What they are depends on what you want. That one is a 6 string and a 12 string neck. Steve Vai's insane triple neck ... Teeth Of The Hydra ... guitar.
As for how they got their name it was from the group _The Who that can be credited with the name it was either bassist John Entwissel or drummer Kieth Moon who said the band will fall like a lead balloon. The group, at the time, were named The New Yardbirds, changed the "Lead" to "Led" to avoid mis-pronunciation and changed the "Balloon" to "Zeppelin"...
A band that sold well over 300 Million records worldwide by the truckload and who was unquestionably the biggest rock band of the '70s and arguably ever is not overrated. They were the real deal indeed and didn't have 1 or 2 big songs, they had around 25 to 30..... the band's guitarist and founder Jimmy Page wanted to start a supergroup and around 1967/68 proposed the idea to The Who's bassist John Entwhistle who told Page "that will go over like a Led Zeppelin" meaning a lead balloon and it will never work hence the band's name. He was clearly mistaken..
The goats Led zeppelin is the greatest rock band in history actually the greatest band in any genre in history stairway to heaven is the greatest song in history in any genre ranked #1 all time also the #1 requested song in history
and one to rule them all... on the live that's a 12 string on top and a 6 string on bottom. there are much better video's out there. check out "Since I've Been Loving You" from the same '73 msg concert. The version from the movie The Song Remains the Same would be a great choice
Check out Kashmir 2007 Live concert check them out in their 60’s! The drummer is the son of the original who passed. Other than that they are all there.
Do, "Whole Lotta Love" next. Though, Dazed & Confused, and Black Dog are super fab! Cool Reaction. The legendary female fronted band, "Heart" does this tribute to them live at The Kennedy Center. You might want to check that out now. Peace On Ya
er no they are NOT hype lol quite the opposite. back in the day they barely released singles or spoke to th epress, they stood enitrely on their talent and performances on stage!
Led Zeppelin comes from "Lead Balloon". A Member of the band "The Who", when seeing what the band was doing, said their idea would go down like a lead balloon. Originally, they called themselves the New Yardbirds.
glad you listened to the studio version after playing only 2 minutes at the end of an 11 minute song. You need to research a bit to find out how great LZ ws.
The live clip on their channel was cut short for some reason. Watch my entire reaction though please. I listen to the official audio 🙂
Just found your channel - 1 year later I don't see any other Led Zeppelin reactions? Blocked? #GOATS
Yeah a few got blocked. I’ll try again. What do you recommend?
Thanks for joining the community
The most talented set of rock musicians ever brought together. It’s impossible to believe that will ever change. You need to check out ‘When the Levee Breaks’ and ‘Kashmir.’

Good reprisal of the facts!

@@KingGreatnessKG you're very welcome. I'm a big Zep fan so let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them.
🙂
@@henriettaskolnick4445 me too! Great explanation of the band!
72-102 is a major difference! They’re good
Brief history of Led Zeppelin:
The band was formed in 1968 in England by Jimmy Page (guitar) after his band The Yardbirds split up... he needed new members and found Robert Plant (vocals) who was 19 at the time, singing in local bands in the Northern city of Birmingham...
🤔
I’ve heard the name Allan Paraons before. What did he produced?
Nice.@@KingGreatnessKG
I wonder why they didn’t give credit? 🤔
The guitar is a twin neck Gibson SG. SG stands for solid guitar. It was custom built for Jimmy Page so he could play this song live. They have made em ever since.
Some songs are not meant to be rushed. Sit back in your chair, close your eyes, & take the journey. Next up....

Wow everyone is saying their live audio quality was crappy!
Peace
This video is not the complete live performance for whatever reason. It cut in about half into the song.
I love that the younger generation is discovering how great Led Zeppelin was and is. I have yet to find anyone who thinks they are overrated.
You listened to it the way I think it's supposed to be listened to and the way we used to listen to it back in the day. We didn't worry too much about the lyrics, we just picked those out that we could actually hear and imagined our own stories to go along with them--as strange as that may sound today.
Yeah I believe sometimes we try too hard to decipher songs and we forget sounds are supposed to be felt and not only heard! Thanks for that! 🙂
You can't be serious?
Overrated??? No way!! Greatest band in history!! Watch .ore of their live performances!! Yes it is a Zeppelin movie! What happened to the whole beginning of the live version song?

Absolutely! When The Levee Breaks is 100% the perfect follow up to show the other, Hard Rock/Blues Rock side of the band. The most insistent groove ever recorded.
Thanks for the recommendation and thanks so much for joining. Welcome to the Greatness Gang community 🙂 👑
Stairway to Heaven ....Live or studio. That is the question and it depends on the song. NOT live IMHO The studio version is the one that was the most requested song in the history of music as per Casey Kasem circa 2005. The studio version is perfection.
99.9% of the time with Led Zeppelin, the studio version is much better!
Wow good to know
So much more of their music to hear and enjoy. Consider starting with the first album and going in order to start out. Loved your reaction. Now you should hear the entire, live, Madison Square Garden performance of Stairway.
Great suggestion! Thanks for watching
Concert footage is from their three night stand at Madison Square Garden in New York City in '73. The movie "The Song Remains The Same" came out the summer of '76. And is named after a great tune from their first album. The movie also has a vignette from each member showing a little bit of them selves. Helps you get to know them.

You should always listen to Led Zeppelin's studio recordings! (Especially if it's your first time listening). Their live versions kind of....suck!
In the song, "there are two paths you can go by" and there's always "time to change the road you're on."
So, the choice to live a material existence or a spiritual one is up to each individual.
For those who decide to live a spiritual life, the key is to stop focusing on money and wealth, and get back in touch with the natural world.
This is represented by "the Piper" who "is calling you to join him."
The "Piper" is the Greek god Pan, the lord of the forests and the wilderness -- the god of nature.
The other representation of nature is the "May Queen."
In British folklore, she represents the return of life in the springtime, after a long winter.
The song says that only by turning our minds back to nature can we find the path to a more spiritual existence, and achieve inner peace and calm.
That calm makes us cool and solid and stable -- "To be a rock, and not to roll."
The song was written in a time of considerable social upheaval and political division.
Thanks for the breakdown!
That was a very thoughtful reaction and you just gained a subscriber. A bad a** Zeppelin song is Dazed and Confused or anything they've done really. Keep up the great work!

Jimmy Page is playing a double-neck Gibson guitar. When you re-played the song, then you caught the lyrics. Just one singer, Robert Plant.
Yes They R Legends❤
Considered one of the anthems of rock n roll. Jimmy actually doesn't hold a note and it buzzes during the song. Probably because the cost of recording it stayed in the song. But it's cool it's there in a classic.

What's funny is that they did a lot of over the top performances, and they called their music publishing company "Superhype".
the guitar is a gibson sg 12 string on top 6 string on bottom.
Led Zeppelin comes from "Lead Balloon". A Member of the band "The Who", when seeing what the band was doing, said their idea would go down like a lead balloon. Originally, they called themselves the New Yardbirds.
Thanks for informing me!

@@KingGreatnessKG You are most welcome 🙂
That's a Double neck guitar. Six strings on one neck and 12 on the other. Creates a dynamic sound by playing different tones from each fretboard.
The flute sound is 2 recorders, like a flute but less complicated
Thanks!
It was a camera trick. There was no real true name, but it was very popular in disco videos and classic rock videos
