Day 1 of Game Dev: What Game Engine Do I Pick? Unreal or Godot?

- This is now day one of my game dev journey. I'm now stuck at the crossroads of figuring out what game engine I want to use. Originally, my plan was to use Unreal Engine. I did take some courses in the past on Unreal Engine. I made some prototypes before and Unreal Engine, but that was two years ago. Looking back at my code and my blueprints that I made, I have absolutely zero clue what I did. We explore Godot in this video and talk about future plans.

I am hoping to make something absolutely nutty. Thank you very much for the subscriberino broder.
Good Luck with your investigation of G-o'doT
Blackened my old friend. How are you doing buddy. If you understand the pronunciation of how to say that game engine let me know. Asking my community and I got three different answers so it looks like nobody knows.
@@NuttyDavid I personally pronounce it as "Guh-Dough". The name comes from a French play that is pronounced "Go-Dough" in French
Yeah i think going forward I am going to call it Guh-dough. What a trip it was trying to establish an acceptable pronunciation haha
I started godot 4 mouths ago with 0 knowledge of programing. I jsut watched the cs50 and jump right into it. I am loving it, very intuitive big cummunity and its free. Never played around with the other engines soo i dont know.
Oh nice it sounds easy to pick up. I know C/C++, Java and Python so I'm hoping it will be easy to get use to the syntax and concepts. Also you had me at big cum-munity LOL
@@NuttyDavid If you want to get big, don't make inappropriate jokes like this one :)
@@NuttyDavid ahahha i was on phone so i didnt speel it right. But funny joke!
Making what BIG??? >;p
According to my quick AI search, Godot seems like the better option, unless you want to prioritize advanced graphics
Godot seems to be a much simpler engine to both use and seems to be recommended for smaller 2D games. Unreal Engine seems to be a bit overkill for want to accomplish.
Ia is not search, please don't do that.
i always thought it was gah dow but i like go dot
I think its guh dow from multiple sources who have told me the pronounciation since releasing this vid. Go Dot seems to be easier to google upon hearing the word haha.

You are now subscribed to the automatic DLC updates that cost $40 a week which offer you one half finished cosmetic and no actual changes to gameplay.
I personally grade game engines based on how they handle jiggle physics
I see you are a man of culture as well.
Balls, of course. Big smooth jiggly femboy balls
I see you are a man of... culture?... as well.
Godot
Maybe Godot will show up in the next video!
You have short term memory? how you can forget things which is just 2 years old?
Don't use it you lose it. Its the problem of having to remember too many things.
