I'm here for the long haul, your storytelling is great, your art is super cool, your editing is on point, and your just FUN. I love CDDA but I'm going to keep a close eye on anything you decide to do!
I'm loving this, really appreciate all the extra art and stuff you edit in. Also: "This first SD drive has 9 songs and instructions to make an improvised grenade launcher round" I love these little comedic absurdities in games with procedurally generated content.
Using a mall as an opener like this is something I've always wanted to do, I just lacked the skill to pull it off. Which is odd because I'm the guy who rebalanced the spawn tables in malls to be less ridiculous.
I wasn't able to capture it on video but I'm pretty sure that zombies have been raining down from the skylight. It must have been really out of control before.
@@mutantwormgirl If you think that's bad, try a school start. I actually had to bias spawns to the ground floor of schools because zombies would keep raining and dying. EDIT: If you previously saw another version of this comment alongside this one, my bad. I forgot I had left it and didn't bother to check. Sorry.
Hey have you heard of Kruggsmash? Your series really does an awesome job with storytelling, and it reminds me of how he does storytelling too. Also I love your use of extra sound effects and music! I think it really adds to the vibe and quality of the video
Love that you included the fanart you got of the aftermath. You sound a bit more confident in your narration of the character's inner dialogue this time, and the editing looks even cleaner this time. You're improving well!
Been looking forward to this since last episode and continue to do so. Your narrative woven with the game mechanics explanation feeds my fascination. ^ ^
When I saw the stabbing practice in the menus I was fully expecting a Futurama reference, "Now stand back I gotta practice my stabbin'!" *unhinged noises*
So many little touches, like good lighting, a comfortable seat, a heater/cooler etc can go a long way toward making your guy's life better, and they all have useful mechanical effects.
I don't know if it's intentional or not, but the long pause on black at the end of the video made me realise what a journey this has been already and felt like I had been stuck underwater, drowning. Incredible work WG!
As someone that has at least 1000+ theoretical (watched videos) hours in this game, I did not even know your limbs had those hidden stats. It's kinda insane to me that even after all this time, I can still learn things about this game I didn't know yesterday. Thank you very much for teaching me something new. :D
One of my favorite parts of this game is the point where you establish a comfortable base with plenty of supplies to last for a year. Have an mp3 player on at all times, and strategically dip into a stockpile of hard drugs while crafting a fleet of tactical vehicles
Did one of those zombies have a vibrator on them? That's some attention to detail, lol. Really loving this series so far; the rp narration totally brings this otherwise incidental sounding game to life.
Wish I had this kind of information with this presentation when I started out a couple years ago. I really appreciate the storytelling, as well. Thank you very much!
Loving this series immensely, it's really good tutorial content, an exciting let's play, and already am. Interesting narrative is emerging. I just hope you're enjoying making it as much as I am watching it
this game looks so interesting, there's so many small touches and modifications that can happen in a playthrough. Your commentary is amazing, and the sound + art you put in is so fitting.

I like that songs are now tracked individually, instead of the old generic music in ipod. 12:10 Pain subsides, mind snaps back into place 20:49 Survival, Whistle, Glowstick... Cool finds 21:34 My sister would love one of these. I don't think they sell them in my country. 26:10 A sealed-off haven with plenty of material. Cool 26:54 I wonder if unequipping the knife would make it faster 32:54 "Not an urge, more than that. It was my destiny to be here, in the box." - Naked Snake, starting the family tradition.
Nice vids + commentary, always neat to learn little tips even in your playthroughs, such as the rack display volume in advanced inventory... I knew shelves held more than the floor since it overflowed at certain points when I decided to dump everything in one spot, but not the specific limit. Thanks for the vid!
You're braver than I. Never tried a mall start, and for that matter rarely tried to clear one from the outside. Usually too many zombies in the parking lot to do more than get fuel from the cars at the edges. I'm really enjoying this playthrough!
Keep it coming! Loving this series, I like your narrative style while playing. It helps understand what's going on as well as keep it interesting. Can't wait for the next episode!
...i can't believe i didn't know about distraction management all this time. Definitely going to use it from now on. No more being interrupted 50 times in a row while trying to read.

I really like this. I believe I randomly happened to see someone recommend your channel when I was looking something up on reddit and I'm glad I checked it out. Looking forward to the next episode
Awesome video, good madam! You can wear the clothes from zombies only if you wash it first. Just use washboard+cleaning agent and water from any source. But hauling the items can be a chore though. Also you can counter the guilt from killing zombie child with psychopath. If you spot a device with full battery (especially small battery) don't forget to Unload it. The battery will serve your mp3 player better.
Love how Mellifera is able to organize all the loot and think clearly while in "unmanageable pain" for several minutes 😂. I don't know what kinda life she had before, but it must have mentally prepared her for this kind of unbearable situation.
@@mutantwormgirl 😂 Or as Jordan the Stallion likes to say, McDonald's employees are built McDifferently. Must be cathartic for her then, to kill all these ex-customer zombies in the mall. Btw, your work on UA-cam is inspirational and phenomenal! ♥️ Plus, just imagining the amount of time, effort, and thought put into recording and editing all these videos, makes me go 💀
Great series so far! Please keep it up! I'm still a noob to the point I can't figure out how to move a grabbed object around without moving my character lol. Seeing this makes me wonder how many things you can do that just aren't apparent.
It's been a while since I watched a CDDA playthrough I was invested in Last one was by Rycon... I can't remember the name though... it started the albino mutant girl I can't remember her name though. But yeah this is fun, I love your RPing! Imma watch your tutorials after this but I definally can't wait for more of this!
Came for the tutorial, staying for the gameplay. This is better than a lot of podcasts I listen to. And a lot more tense. I know this might be out of scope of your playthrough but have you touched the bionics or mutant abilities in this game at all?
Thanks! Mutations are my favorite thing in Cataclysm and I love bionics too. We will eventually get to both in this playthrough, assuming Mel lives that long. If not, her successors will.
From what little I know about vending machines I feel like the vending machine(s) still being operational when the power is out is already nonsense. Even more nonsense, it seems either the vending machine is trusting the user not to lie to it, hilariously bad business sense, or the internet is also still functional, and the vending machine is still connected to it despite the lack of power to the building that would enable something like a wireless access point to function. Even if it was connected via Ethernet, it would still need to be connected to a router with power. Not to mention all the rest of the (power dependent) internet infrastructure. That said, one should just be able to violence it open without legal concern. Mechanically I can see why it still works because it is cool to have the cash cards still have use, despite societal collapse.
@@mutantwormgirl If I saw things right non-electronic money exists, and they could get away with claiming an efficient low power mode functioning off a battery, (citing history divergence) while only accepting physical money. Cause physical money identification and fake rejection has a *history* Hell *keeping* things cold with (really) good insulation isn't that power expensive with input output being a big loss point, but a vending machine could have an airlock system or something to keep those losses low. Really it is just the cash card aspect that that throws it way over the edge of believability for me.
Not with wandering Hordes on, the gunfire will draw more Zed to the mall, there not infinite but if your using a gun for combat you will need to have enough bullets to kill the whole neighborhood. This is at the same time a nice tutorial, an entertaining series and a PSA on why smoking's bad.
Smoking is cool and good actually.

Also, smoke masks your scent. So it is situationally useful to disrupt zombies and aggressive animals from tracking you by smell.

Food, fun, and fashion: the mall has it all.
When I saw the stabbing practice in the menus I was fully expecting a Futurama reference, "Now stand back I gotta practice my stabbin'!" *unhinged noises*
This is such a great tutorial. I now see how my guy lives in a rat-hole compared to what he could have. (Art imitates life.)

Yep! Ideally you want a chair or bed you can sit in while you do all your crafts. Car seats work too, even better if they're the reclining kind.
