Yes! Finally! There's been no other Cataclysm youtuber that can scratch the same itch as Rycon -- none of them take the game seriously from the character's perspective, which I think is the most interesting part of CDDA. Please continue this!
I agree! Went through all of Rycon's videos and was surprised because I usually don't watch that much. But I listen to/watch these while working and it's great.
Oh my gosh, welcome! You're actually the one who got me back into Cataclysm. I played a long time ago when Whales was coding it in the 00s, but then I forgot about it for years and years until I stumbled across your Elliot playthrough. I've been a big fan of both your videos and CDDA ever since!
Most of the comments seem to be from people who are already big fans of Cataclysm and other youtubers of the game. I just want to say, I had never heard of this game until stumbling upon your channel, but the way you play it makes it feel very approachable and your style of storytelling and commitment to it makes the video very appealing even for someone with no experience with this game. Great job!
a journey has brought me here. I saw a super eyepatch wolf video about fear and hunger. which I had never heard of, never played and never will but the lore got me curious. So I did a search and watched both your videos on it. And said to myself, "she has a nice narrator's voice, what else is here" and here you are playing something else I've never heard or and won't ever play, but your style of story narration was amazing and I'm definitely going to watch some more. Awesome work~
Same here,I watched his video of his experience of Fear and Hunger, then got recommended her video of the story of FaH, and now im curious about what this game is about.
As a very experienced cdda player, I love the addition of shotgun model pictures etc. I am sure that can help people visualize their character, their weaponry and all. This super helps with immersion. I remember googling these shotguns to see how they look, because you know.. Fashion is more important than stats, even during the apocalypse. Dress the part, act the part. My mink fur coat is a far superior winter apparel to the winter army jacket with an esapi vest. It's just more.. dignified. Yes.. I have the "stylish" trait, how did you know?
Really enjoyed this, you hit the sweet spot of just enough Narration without it being too much or too little. The fight in the Gun Store felt very tense.
And she did it all in a CORSET. While holding like 5 1911’s 😂 1:00:25 “We’ll grab that, grab this, very useful stuff.” *takes a vibrator with half its battery left* LMAO
Got in for the fear and hunger lore dissection, subscribed for the best cataclysm I’ve ever seen. What made me subscribe is the way your making the most vanilla parts of cataclysm super interesting and explains why the actions you are taking are smart. The most tense part for me wasn’t the zombie shootout, it was the realization that you locked yourself in a store with a zombie mob outside. But it was the smart way you prepared for the showdown. Loving the way you make a seemingly unoptimized starting character feel incredibly strong, by playing very smart, not unwilling to take risks, but systemically stacking the odds in your favor. Great editing too.
INCREDIBLE! A lot more close calls than I would have been comfortable with - I for sure would have panicked and backed myself into a corner. When you were pinned in behind one of the store counters I thought you were done for... but you recovered and made it look easy.
I sound calm in the narration but I was gritting my teeth for sure. I've never been so spoiled for guns and starved for everything else before, you never know what this game is going to throw at you!
I've been looking for an LP of Cata dda with a good presenter like you, for a very long time. I used to play it way back but has since then developed schizophrenia and can't, for now, play for myself. This is exactly what I need while institutionalized, long quality videos from a unique person. I love that you sometimes go in on the details of items as that was always my favorite. When I saw just now that they even show the millimeters of thickness of leather the item is made from I swooned a little. If you ever read this, Thank you for doing this. It means a lot.
You know what the gun store fight made me think of at first? that scene in Zombieland where the guy has weapons and clips set all around him on the counters. Instead of reloading half the time he just picked up new guns.
Having watched the video now can say you have a great flair for making things exciting. Having played this game a lot I would never have tried what you did and would have taken the 9mm pistol and run only to risk everything on being able to squeeze past the hordes to the exit. Not only did you do what I thought was a death sentence, you made it look easy too.
I am in awe at your skill and patience with this game. If it were me playing this character, I would sprint out of the mall and probably die a dozen times before I actually got started.
I have yet to run into someone that portrays a storyteller type of game as a storyteller other than ambiguous amphibian, but even his own stories have a few too many degrees of separation. This, I feel, is what it must be like when a person scratches the itch on a critter that it can’t reach. Fantastic work!
Probably one of my favorite Cataclysm youtubers up there w/ Vorm, Drid & Rycon. You got a great voice for this kind of description heavy game. Good shit 👌
Came here after watching your termina video for the rherth time. I'm enjoying this so far and realizing that your voice and delivery are really what draw me to rewatch your content, which is not to disparage your well researched and written "scripts". Thank you for your videos.
Wicked appreciated. I learned watching vormithrax a few years back, but it’s been a while so I’m brushing up. It’s good to have another voice and perspective that’s knowledgeable.
Like many others, i found you via your fear and hunger videos, but i was hooked on your style after that. I love the way you mix narration of the game mechanics with point-of-view narration of the story from the character's perspective. Plus, you expose me to games that I wouldn't necessarily choose to play, but that i can recommend to people i know who are more interested in this style of game. Hope you make many more videos!
That was amazing crowd control, I'm gonna have to study that a few times. Glad to see you're diving into some let's play content, looking forward to the next episode 👍
Great video! I loved the combination of the role-playing elements and knowledgeable background on items like firearms in your commentary! You're really good at being able to play at a high level while also explaining the things that you're doing like making loot zones
Recently discovered your stuff, and figured I'd go back and listen to this series from the start. Mostly just writing to say the bit at 16:50, where you took a break from the action to go off on a tangent into a gun nerd powerpoint presentation, was unexpected and very cute. A+
Meticulous, patient, adaptive, environmental awareness, as expected from a scene model. Not going to lie, this is a war of attrition low key got me crushing.

I was initially somewhat hesitant to watch someone play CDDA that wasn't Rycon, but I'm really glad I did. This has been very enjoyable, I very much appreciate your willingness and attention to detail when showing off the various firearms that this game has lovingly reproduced to the best of their ability. The pictures of each gun and weapon go a very long way to show how different a weapon is vs just "some other handgun or shotgun". Look forward to seeing more. :D
Came here from your impeccably narrated fear and hunger vids. Wondered if I would miss some of that talent during a let's play video. Guess that concern was unfounded ;) Great stuff
Got started with the popular fear and hunger vids, now you've got a lot of people wanting to watch through the Cataclysm vids which has introduced me to a new series :D Great explanation and think lots of people will get into this kind of usually hour long video format, seems late night is the best time to watch your content

Oh, how do I miss this series! :) Watching this again after a year has passed. A lot of things have changed: pain is ultra-deadly now, some guns from this episode have been removed, changes to batteries, basic zombies do not have scent, shockers are not that shocking, cash cards are useless… I wonder, how this would pan out if it was current experimental build…
I adore the random details such as the zombie with the MP40. We all know who that was and how he likely thought it was his chance to live his fantasy to then fail immediatly.
I wasnt aware you could hit an armoured enemies weakspot, cool feature. In fairness i did play on frank 3 and not experimental, hopefully version G will have this feature. Honestly, CDDA content on this website is mostly subpar, but i think youve produced a shining exception to that rule. Keep it up.
I hope this isn’t rude, but I watch your cataclysm videos before bed as I fall asleep. Your voice is so calming and I can’t comprehend the gameplay beyond the basics so it’s just all pretty visuals to me, amazingly relaxing! Keep up the great work ^__^!!
WOO!!! It's finally happening. YEAH!!! More please when you can. Also thank you for the history lesson with the firearms I don't think anyone does that with CDDA. 42:48 HOLY COW!!! Is that 167 loose ammunition of .357 I've never seen so much ammo found at once. Even in a gun store I've never seen that much ammo before in a single stack.
This was incredible to watch! Been playing Zomboid for a while and I'm surprised I hadn't taken notice of CDDA until now! I played for a while yesterday, played the tutorial and a lot of the keybindings weren't accurate and it took a lot of fidling. I then ran a randomly generated character and tried to run with that but I quickly learned that there's a lot in the game I don't know how to figure out myself. This was SUPER helpful, will be tuning in some more when I got time. Thank you 😁
Loving this, this is great. Been waiting for Rycon to start a new roleplay series, but this is filling the same need. Good episode, looking forward to the next one.
Awsome in going to bingewatch this every new episode you release 😎 Been really waiting for a other veteran to pick up the storytelling side of this game. Ty so much for doing this wormgirl.
This was great. Really enjoyed the tactics and slow methodical nature (also the time skipping for boring part). Also the explanation of the weapons was nice. Subbed.
I've been looking for a different CDDA series and this is amazing. Great quaility and kept me interested whole way through. Really engaging. Looking forward to binge watching everything then waiting on tenterhooks for the next ones
This is amazing! I do a CDDA RP video series as well, and am very excited to watch your take on the genre. Author-to-author, isn't it incredible how invested we become in our characters? Imagining their thoughts and feelings so intensely, it makes the game so immersive. You're very good at pacing and voice-over! I wish you a very good series! And I wish Mellifera a long life!
This was fantastic. I'm not too into RP narratives, but this had a great balance of role play, and informative content. I learned quite a bit about some of the firearms in the game, and you showcased how when played properly they can save you in a bind. I was glued to the screen waiting to see how the 1v68 played out! Your channel is amazing, and your voice is well suited to the tutorial and narrative style videos. Really love everything I've watched so far. I am definitely going to watch through the rest of this as you make them. +1 sub. Some of the best CDDA content around!
This is exactly the sort of content I'd want to make, and seeing you do it shows me the kind of effort needed to do that. I am strongly motivated to do... _everything_ until I'm in a place where I can produce content like this. I certainly have the talent.
Narrative/roleplay LPs are an extremely untapped market IMO. If you are interested in making them, I would check out Kruggsmash's Dwarf Fortress videos and Rycon's CDDA stuff. They are both amazing and show different ways you can create this kind of content.
Thanks! I don't know how it happened. I was terrible for a very long time and then one day I survived to year 2 and realized that the game had opened up for me at some point.
Yes! Finally! There's been no other Cataclysm youtuber that can scratch the same itch as Rycon -- none of them take the game seriously from the character's perspective, which I think is the most interesting part of CDDA. Please continue this!

I've been looking for a different CDDA series and this is amazing. Great quaility and kept me interested whole way through. Really engaging. Looking forward to binge watching everything then waiting on tenterhooks for the next ones
Really fun and engaging video! The in-character roleplay was especially fun. Really hope to see more!
You make it feel like watching a movie. Thank you for your videos
My word the look of that backroom when Mellifera was done with it...
Damn. This is an awesome quality let'sa play. Absolutely loving it.
Never seen this game til now, really cool! And I love the touch of storytelling ontop of the cool ass gameplay
I found your channel through my recent adventure into Fear & Hunger, sticking around for CDDA roleplay
Girl, your voice is wonderful and I love listening to it! keep up the good work!
I only watched your video for 4 minutes and I'm hooked. Cool idea for a let's play.
Amazing content. The attention to detail is surprising and impressive 😊
Yessss... a youtuber who actually seems to know firearms. 🙌🙌 So many speak expertly w/ only "COD" and "movies" experience -__-
Its truly incredible to watch someone whos way better then me playing this game. Its like watching hitman speedruns.
Thanks! I don't know how it happened. I was terrible for a very long time and then one day I survived to year 2 and realized that the game had opened up for me at some point.
I do love the effort put into the narration
