As a new player to CDDA, I have found your content incredibly helpful, and your storytelling helps keep things interesting. Keep it up, I look forward to seeing what you make next!
I am blown away every episode. This is all I ever wanted from Let's Plays about this game (except for the mutations/bionics stuff, but ONE SERIES AT A TIME!!!). SO cool. I could watch this for 2 years. Thank you for the production! 11:12 This whole segment is a great example. After trying out and properly explaining a new experimental feature, and promising to roleplay a key character trait, we get chill, exemplified and hilarious explanations of it, while some great gootage plays over it. I love your talking style, not only in how you say, but also _what_ you say. The tone does help tho. Just what I like. Keep it up 25:06 Wait really? Well, they got buffed in combat so I guess that's fine. It was a legacy feature tho
Thanks! And yeah. The feature made more sense when houses were mostly empty, but spawn density got changed so that 90% of zombies weren't outside, which made sneaking really difficult. All the zombie hunter/predator/snappers etc. still have scent, as well as anything that had it when it was alive, so I think night raiders will have an interesting time trying to deal with those enemies without making too much noise and luring the non-smellers in.
To your comment that "no one would be able to quit addiction that quickly," I would just say that I quit smoking irl in about two months (your in-game time shows day 65 at that comment). The physical withdrawals are cleared from the body in the first two weeks, and from that point onwards, it's all mental. I quit by weening off just like your character is technically doing. Also great job on narration. I love this kind of story telling in sandbox games.
love how much sharper these videos have gotten, esp. w/tightening up the speed of the fast-forwarding & the lil inserts. i'm honestly amazed you've made such an in-your-head, slow-thinking game engaging to watch in one, unbroken take. real good shit!
You've completely onboarded me to this game, and also changed the way I approach these sort of games. I paused after my first fight, spent a few periods analysing the situation, running it all in my head, smoked a cigarette (too bad game doesn't let you cut it short unless interrupted) and crouched in the corner for half an hour. Then got up and got shit done. Most fun I've had in a long time playing, reminded me of the good old DnD days where we'd do things just because they felt right, and we had the freedom. Incredible game, and incredible work on your narration!
I missed this comment in the shuffle but this is exactly what I was hoping to hear. This is a game where it's so easy to optimize yourself out of having fun, but if you really lean into the roleplay, it opens way up.
Re: “no way someone would be over smoking in that amount of time.” It’s amazing how strongly trauma can affect someone. For example, a heart attack. Or the end of the world as we know it. I love these episodes. Your voice is very pretty. This game is so damn incredible. I just rolled a random character out in the forest with a farm milking cows! Raising chickens! This game never ceases to amaze me. You can also start in Prison, One of the hardest places to get out of because it's like an island full of zombie dogs and Hulking prisoners.
There are so many weird and cool ways to start the game. The first two weeks are usually my favorite. Overrun is a lot of fun - they put you on a military base locked in a warehouse with all the food and weapons you could want, but there are hundreds of zombies outside and escape is very difficult. It's a great way to flip the game on its head.
@@mutantwormgirl I have a trick for this. Use the forklift in the warehouse to bust through the front gate. It usually has enough charge to get you out of the base.
These new changes seem pretty good so far, especially the grapples. ^_^ Also, the glass corridor seems like a perfect place to put some traps right outside of it, if you could safely sneak out at night.
Somehow I didn't think of that. Amazing what slips your mind. The next episode's already recorded, but I'll try to remember to give it a go in the one after that.

As a new watcher, all i can say is. Welcome back, this series is something i greatly enjoy. Like a tv series, not quite TWD but i do enjoy the more serious and dramatic feeling of it.
Great episode as usual! Thanks again for all the work you put into these and your recent F&H videos too! I love how you explain mechanics too, just enough to keep us in the loop. I've played *far too much* of this game, and I still learn new tidbits from you. Any plans to review other games too? Ever tried Cataclysm: Bright Nights? DO YOU LIKE BEING ASKED QUESTIONS????
Love this series. Just got back into CDDA after trying and failing to really get anything started. This series really helped me get over the learning curve.

Hey worm girl! I really enjoy your narration and storytelling, and cdda is such a cool game! This channel is peak comf, I'm eagerly awaiting the next chapter of Mel's misadventures!
Hey Worm Girl, I just wanted to say your CDDA content has been great. Your original something awful LP inspired me to finally figure out the game and start playing, and this one got me to play the Mall start, which has now led me to also figure out coding, just to get Soap into the bathrooms! So thanks for the truly inspiring content.
I saw your PR, thanks for contributing! The review process can be brutal, but it's a badly needed merge so hopefully we get there in one form or another.
I must say, I've bounced off of Cataclysm a few times now - but now that I've watched your tutorial series as well as this one... Suffice it to say, it has finally gotten its rotten, necrotic claws in deep. Eagerly waiting for work to end so I can watch this!
Took me roughly 4 years to get over smoking. And it was literally a case of having a significant other tell me she didn't appreciate me smoking. So it was a case where I only quit looking at another person's cigarette with envy by having a ruthless physical exercise regimen (replace nicotine withdrawal with running highs and lactic acid burn), spending nights congratulating myself (with her company) with a bottle of wine to further satiate other impulses, and *the love of my life* telling me I should quit and providing an emotional bulwark against cravings. Four years, that's how long it took to the point where I didn't think of having a smoke every time I saw someone light up theirs. Now naturally, not every person is the same. People have different psyches, different neuropsychological processes going on, different tolerances for stress.... But still, nicotine is ridiculously addictive. Smokers get way too much scorn. I've been there, and I'll never be one of those 'holier-than-thou' ex-smokers. Because it is literally the hardest thing you can do once nicotine addiction sets in. I'd rather go through seven years of UG and post-grad studies all over again than try to give up smoking. So those friends of mine that still smoke, I understand why they either have trouble quitting or simply are disillusioned and take it back up. It's *rough* ... And frankly, people lumping scorn on smokers, most of them have never had a drug addiction in their life--And they pretend like it's merely a condition of ethics or willpower. Screw those people. It's one of those things where you'll try, you'll fail, you'll try a new strategy, possibly fail that, and it requires building up a body of strategies that work for you. Personalized for you. And every smoker who tries to quit, even if they fail, deserve a shot of empathy and congratulations they tried. Nicotine dependency is a hell of a hard thing to give up. Easily harder than even opioids after a bad and persistent injury event I suffered. If I had to deal with the stress of the world ending around me, just scraping by to survive in an ultra-violent world--One replete with unsmoked tobacco in every convenience store, in every service station I plundered, in every supermarket I dig through for cans of food, in every mall I raided. Like, no. Sorry. Lung cancer is the least of my problems.
I really love your video series. They're a great mix of informative and entertaining and it's been fun to see your survivor struggle along and slowly improve. It's super fun how you roleplay most effects and justify your character actions in realistic ways, I have difficulty when it comes to not playing super optimally.
I haven't done much with traps before aside digging some pits around my bases, may have to look into using spike traps in areas where I can set up choke points! Seem to work well against lingering stumblers.
As a person who played this game for a lot of years I'm impressed by your determination and desire to continue these series even despite small number of views. Open world roguelikes are pretty cool, but goal oriented roguelikes are the pinnacle of the genre. As a person who managed to finish 15 runes run in Stone Soup I can tell you no other game gave me the same thrill and terror
This is a positive message for the algo (and hopefully you too WG). I wandered over after a friend dropped a link to Gray's story, gotta echo a few folks here in that I could listen to you all day, just a nice relaxing voice. Thanks for the vid and keep on keeping on!
I do so love the way you "flavor" the various non-descriptive food, like gummy candy, can't all be the same thing. Swedish Fish and Sour Patch Kids, it's simple, and not necessary, but man does it go a long way for some that enjoys roleplaying, like I do. Also, nail boards, big, dually noted. >:D
I’m new to your channel and I’ve been absolutely loving this series. Your storytelling approach is so engaging, it’s been inspiring me to start playing CDDA again!
2:23 As someone that does occasionally get a hankering for a smoke, I usually forget about it once I start doing anything at all. I never quit, but at the rate of a cigarette every 2-3 months it’s definitely like that for some people. I honestly just stopped smoking as often and all the negative effects(headache, crankiness, etc.) I just sorta ignored or drank something warm.
You are so much better at this game than I am - it's not even funny. That's purely down to patience. I don't have nearly enough. I would have Leroy Jenkins'd myself long ago. I know this for a fact because when I tried to recreate this playthrough, that is EXACTLY what I did. Many times.
11:03 I never waded through a crowd of zeds irl, but I have fought my way through a crowd of pissed off teens back in high school. With a living, pain feeling grabber that's of similar strength it's actually pretty easy to break free. Then again, I used to and still do weight training on a regular basis which left me strong enough to carry a grabber to use as a shield and plow through some of the weaker looking guys. For typical movie undead that might still work, but just one CDDA zeds is strong enough to smash boulders with their bare hands so I'm not sure.
They currently feel a little like Romero zombies, which are like, rigor mortis strong and can pull people apart with their bare hands. 😅 They definitely need to calm them down a bit. On the other hand, Mel is like 5'3" so she's not wrasslin' in her own weight class against most of these guys.

@@mutantwormgirl oh cool! that says a lot- i know almost nothing about them. I really want to learn more about it, so this will be good for me. Great! (I dont like reading through guides, these vids are way better transmission of knowledge IMO). Thanks!
I never played in a Mall but I think being in Prison with limited items you can hands on is harder than it seems. The characters that have strong Strength fare better in Prison than a Smarter one, hopefully clearing the courtyard once you get hands on cudgel and get level 3 in melee and get hold on pipe mace. The only problem in prison is how long can you lockpick doors and it took at least 2-4 days lockpicking even with improvised lockpick. I am only thankful for the tables in the canteen serving as obstacles to hinder the zombies, and it is great if you have parkour expert, allowing you to move normally.
How do you wait one turn? I always get hit trying to let the zeds come to me by moving around, and the wait command only does it for 20 seconds or more. How do you wait just one turn?
I know I'm commenting this way too late to make a difference, but as a strategic gamer myself I'd have started to mass produce those traps and cordon off the area between the hunting shop and the under garments shop so as to create a safe throughfare and slowly pushed it to the west on a as needed basis.
i am loving this show so much atm, also how is everyone enjoying G.0 update the calories killed my freakishly large character by making me emaciated. and considering i had to eat about a whole cow a day, which has not changed much i starved from malnutrision.
Don't know 'em, I am just over here doing gameplay and narration for my own channel and not much else. And thank you! I am happy that so many people are vibing with this series. It's a lot of fun to slow the action down and roleplay a bit more than I would on my own.
You are quick at going through loot and crafting. Alot of streamers spend too much time starring at the crafting menu. I personally like seeing what's around the next corner and viewing the randomly generated maps.
@@mutantwormgirl do you have a guide of where you download your game and how you configure it? I mean, an updated one, or you use the same config that you explain in the 101 series?

The characters that have strong Strength fare better in Prison than a Smarter one, hopefully clearing the courtyard once you get hands on cudgel and get level 3 in melee and get hold on pipe mace. The only problem in prison is how long can you lockpick doors and it took at least 2-4 days lockpicking even with improvised lockpick.
I am only thankful for the tables in the canteen serving as obstacles to hinder the zombies, and it is great if you have parkour expert, allowing you to move normally.
-We want that cake- I laughed out loud.
love your videos, now you have to disassemble the chairs after deconstructing them!!, takes up a lot of time though idk if i like the change
getting high and sorting zombie loot in the service corridors of a mall would fix me
So, Fort Mall is a success so far.... just wonder if there are any Hulks wandering about.
New episode LET'S GO
Spam: Smells and tastes like wet catfood.
SPAM is delicious!
Even uncooked? It probably tastes fine fried but I cannot handle it raw.
How do you wait one turn?
I always get hit trying to let the zeds come to me by moving around, and the wait command only does it for 20 seconds or more.
How do you wait just one turn?
Press . or the middle numpad button (5).
Been waiting for this!
I know I'm commenting this way too late to make a difference, but as a strategic gamer myself I'd have started to mass produce those traps and cordon off the area between the hunting shop and the under garments shop so as to create a safe throughfare and slowly pushed it to the west on a as needed basis.
Just to add; this in no way should affect your gameplay and I quite enjoyed it. Would love to see more of this type of content.
i am loving this show so much atm, also how is everyone enjoying G.0 update the calories killed my freakishly large character by making me emaciated. and considering i had to eat about a whole cow a day, which has not changed much i starved from malnutrision.
Hell yea a new worm Video.
What tileset are you using?
MSXOtto+, it comes with the game.
Oh damn, you are making CDDA videos again?! I guess I will have to subscribe to not miss anything.
I thought the channel gone offline
why dont you put some spike traps on the other side of the glass, so while you craft the bodies hit the floor on the other side
Let The Bodies Hit The Floor
Let The Bodies Hit The Floor
Let The Bodies Hit The Floor
Let The Bodies Hit The Floor
Lets's GOOOOOO
I am entertained!
I don't play with the sounds so I had no idea they were so useful. 🤔
Babe! Wake up! New Worm Girl C:DDA vid just dropped!

Oh, wait, I'm alone. Ah, well! Still got a new vid to watch!
21:12 Zombie LootCrate™
LET’S GOOOO
Your the best CDDA streamer by far. Do you narrate for someone else???
Aetherstronghold??
Don't know 'em, I am just over here doing gameplay and narration for my own channel and not much else.
And thank you! I am happy that so many people are vibing with this series. It's a lot of fun to slow the action down and roleplay a bit more than I would on my own.
You are quick at going through loot and crafting. Alot of streamers spend too much time starring at the crafting menu. I personally like seeing what's around the next corner and viewing the randomly generated maps.
You're such a Worm Girl. In the best way.
Wonderful! I leave this comment as sacrifice to Algoritmos.
Your comment is nothing more than a ode to the pain and suffering of everything good in this entire planet!
👍
worm waifu posted another bombshell of a vid.
The sounds of your game are the default ones or do i have to download a pack or something?
CC-Sounds comes with the game and has all the music. @'s soundpack is the SFX. I usually swap between them or go into the files and combine them.
@@mutantwormgirl do you have a guide of where you download your game and how you configure it? I mean, an updated one, or you use the same config that you explain in the 101 series?
I just go to cataclysmdda.org/experimental/
@@mutantwormgirl there is so many links lol. My INT stat must be like 4
@@Naethplays github.com/qrrk/Catapult/releases/tag/23.12a This page has only four links. If you have windows, click the one that says catapult-win.
