The Leah Remini v Scientology case was in court last week. The judge added a hearing on the Anti-SLAPP for further argument. The fight over service continues with Scientology Leader David Miscavige. His lawyers have filed two motions to Quash, and Remini’s lawyers are now seeking substitute service of process or service by publication. Remini details that her process server made 32 separate visits to 9 different addresses on 16 separate dates from August 2023 to December 2023, costing her thousands of dollars. They will be in court on Valentine's Day to rule on the motion to quash.
Lizzo's Anti-SLAPP motion is granted in part and denied in part. I break down the court's ruling and which portions of the case are moving forward.

The Scientology v Remini court actions are fascinating. I haven’t been as interested in a trial since the Depp v. Heard trial. It’s about time David Miscavage was held accountable for his fraudulent “religion” which has cost untold harm to people. I wish this lawsuit would go forward and be televised. It would change and improve the world IMAO. Thanks Emily! Btw: where is Shelly -Mrs. Miscavage??

The whole situation with Miscavage's wife is something of a mystery from what I understand, with many theories attached.

Sounds like the judge has had it with Miscavidge and his lawyers! So happy!! Although even once he is served, he is going to fight tooth and nail being deposed.
Long term I can see Miscavage hiding out on a ship in International Waters which is exactly what the founder of Scientology - L. Ron Hubbard - did back in the day.
That does feel like the most likely scenario. You'd think there'd be some kind of workaround for that though. Feels like an oversight in the law.

I may be wrong, but I think he has to authorize them to accept service on his behalf.
The attorneys will get in trouble if they do that. Which may include violence.

Legal team could easily refuse the service stating they aren’t authorized to accept it on his behalf.

Can we? Probably. Miscavige has gotten away with making his wife disappear so unlikely he’ll ever be held accountable for anything in this country. Same for most ppl with the right amount of money.

This is pretty ridiculous I don't know why a judge would deal with it because you're showing up you know somebody's trying to serve you so one way or another you're going to be sued
The world of Scientology protesting and Vanderpump rules kind of collided in LA resently. One of the protesters that was livestreaming was attacked by a female Scientologist. That female was married to a restaurant owner that was in buissness with two other males on the Vanderpump show. A PPA was made.
This!! Been watching it every night glad I’m not the only one. The issue with the audience in the court was probably the protestors who attended the hearing

To be fair, the location and health status of a lot of members is being keept from family members and friends outside of Scientology. Just like they told Liz Ferris that her father Bob was dead even though he was not.

Why can’t they do an alternative method of service if personal service cannot be affected? Publish, mail etc. after proven attempts documented.

Yes, that trial was a disaster with an ill-informed judge who made terrible judicial decisions while avoiding making any actual rulings.
▪︎ If we're now "guilty by association," we're all going to be locked up in no time for _other people's crimes!_
▪︎ It would be proper to add the appropriate charges to the penal code & charge ppl w/ what they _actually did,_ rather than crimes of their friends or family members which they can be made to sound guilty of with enough cherry-picking of evidence & some good, old-fashioned mud-slinging.
▪︎ Instead of the current practice of charging a getaway driver w/ homicide, charge with "Accessory after the fact" until "Transportation of an individual fleeing a crime scene" is actually adopted as part of the code. Slapping a homicide charge on someone for giving a ride to a criminal is unhinged!
▪︎ This also applies to the charges against Jennifer Crumbley. She's responsible for _some_ aspects of her child's behavior, though he didn't verifiably ever explicitly share his troubles or ask for help. Perhaps she was negligent in this case, though we don't know that she was _grossly negligent_ since the earliest we know she became aware of her son's mental health concerns or fixation on violence was that day of the meeting @ school. Everything listed as ignored "warning signs" by opponents were things that could be taken more than one way (like, as a joke), that haven't been proven to have occurred, or things that only appear significant in hindsight.
Ah, I too disfavor when my child lodges objections at bedtime. I disfavor it so much, and therefore it is overruled. Goodnight.
