Ticketmaster and Live Nation are facing numerous lawsuits ranging from angry Swifties to allegations of an improper Monopoly and SEC violations. During the course of these lawsuits, Ticketmaster made some massive retroactive changes to their Terms Of Use which is the heart of most litigation at the moment. Just an FYI, we got a Lomi last year and it broke after a few months. They refused to fix or replace it. After some research, my stepmother found that the company deletes negative reviews and threatens to sue people that complain about their broken machines. Buyer beware.
Emily, thank you SO MUCH for covering this. Between the Swifties and the BTS ARMY, Ticketmaster has no idea what they're up against. Neither group will go away quietly, or at all. TM's been screwing with customers for years and it''s way past time that something be done about it, otherwise we're all going to be looking at paying $600 or more for a single lousy concert ticket.
Have you heard of Britney's new memoir?
Oooooh I’m ready for this. I haven’t been able to get tickets for a concert like a normal person in YEARS. There’s no reason why it should be so hard and so expensive. Break them up!
Totally. I don't even try anymore.
Yep, it is super frustrating. I would prefer going back to actual Ticketmaster locations to physically buy tixs in person like I did over 25 yrs ago, now I'm showing my age, lol.
If the ticket sales for the movie theater concerts continue to do well, I'm hoping that will be enough competition to make a difference.
I can get tickets if I pre-order, but my favorite band isn't as popular as Swift. And the shows I go to are always sold out. I can't imagine how hard it must be for her fans.
I wanted to see Eric Clapton this year, decent seats were 500-3000 bucks
These companies are bottomless pits. No matter how rich these companies get, they are never satisfied and keep wanting more and more money.
That is the nature of stock markets. Endless increases in profits are needed to satisfy the pyramid scheme.
welcome to late stage capitalism.
kind of like lou taylor 🐀🐀
The Cure fought for low ticket prices. I got a refund on my tickets because Robert Smith of the Cure fought Ticketmaster and said your fees are excessive. For 3 tickets I paid $100 for good seats. It turns out it was the most profitable tour to date for The Cure. It can be done if the artist fight for the fans. Ticketmaster is at fault but the artists are also at fault for not putting their foot down.
❤
Exactly. Garth Brooks has put a price cap on his tickets before. Taylor could have done that but didn't . She knew there were issues with ticket sales and ppl being charged thousands of dollars but she still did nothing.
@@anna5169 Yeah exactly. And this is my only gripe with Taylor. She consistently demands artists get paid for their work to degrees they don't deserve or need and to the detriment of fans. She pulled all her songs off if Spotify for like three years bc she disliked that fans had free access to her music. I get being paid for your work but when you're the literal biggest musician in the planet, it feels greedy to not fight for your fans
The added fee was 100$? Because otherwise that seems cheap
@@chelsey8737 she's not on spotify? wow
This is why monopolies are bad. This is why we need to break them up and foster new innovation
in my country there's an institute for this, but we still have some monopols ... 🙄😤
Pearl jam tried suing them in the 90s. After trying to tour without using them and getting blackballed by venues
So true!
Yes I remember this. TM is like a mafia.
I was going to say the same thing
Yep. It was a disaster. At the time I thought it was stupid. But then there were additional ticketing platforms then. Now it is straight up mafioso.
I remember but unfortunately they failed
For Swift and the Swifties I wish all the best, and all the wins. For Ticketmaster I wish all the losses, all the attorney fees, and all the everything.
I try to avoid large venues but still have had to buy Ticketmaster/live nation shows. This summer The Cure fought back and realized discounts of $5/ticket they got Ticketmaster to refund. I, too, remember when Pearl Jam took them on. Good luck Swifties! You fight for all of us!
In 2019 I bought tickets from TicketMaster nearly a year in advance to see Willie Nelson. The tickets were $300 each (I bought 2). This is well above my normal entertainment budget, but Willie Nelson is on my husband's "Bucket List", and Willie's not getting any younger, so I purchased the tickets. The pandemic hit and the show was postponed to a TBD date. TicketMaster refused to return my money, citing the tickets were still good. WTF?!? A date for the show was set for the following year (2021). TicketMaster has now had my funds for 18 months. Again I requested a refund and was refused. As the new date rolled around I received an email saying it was to be postponed again. Again my refund request was denied. Twenty six months after the initial purchase, the event was canceled and my $600 was finally returned. I was so furious. I felt like they used my money the entire time! I'll never buy another ticket through TicketMaster and it makes me so mad because we love live music.
Happened to me with a Beach Bunny concert. I ended up getting nothing because the new concert ended up getting delayed, and at the time it was scheduled I didn't have enough money to drop on driving 5 hours, getting a hotel room, and buying food for the time I would be in a different city.
Happened to me as well during the pandemic but the artist said the money would be refunded. TM didn’t refund my money until I filed a dispute with my credit card company and then they refunded me
The same thing happened for those of us with tickets from lover fest.
Problem is if u never buy tickets from ticketmaster again u are never seeing a live concert ever again
I don't think a company thats made itself pretty much the _only_ way anyone can get tickets to shows, should get around jury trials. I get that theres pretty much no way to get an unbias jury, but that's kinda just the consequences of the thing _they_ did
Absolutely agree.
*unbiased
Ticketmaster is a terrible company. It is ridiculous how much they charge in fees. I was lucky to get 2 tickets for one show
Yes! ...and if the concert is cancelled you wont get fees back!
I have had to sell tickets that I couldn’t go to and they charge the fees again to the next person…along with all sorts of additional fees. Total monopoly!
We just got charged $800 a seat for U2’s added on dates. We were AT THE HARDROCK BOX OFFICE at the supposed opening time; they don’t even staff the box office anymore. Instead, we grabbed breakfast and had to buy the tickets through Ticketmaster on our phones. It’s a total scam.
Im so ready! They did this to BTS and despite their company trying to stop major ticket overprices from resellers, ticketmaster would just "add more seats" to price how they liked. It was insane! hope this lawsuit shuts down Ticketmaster's terrible practices.
They did it at the Agust D show as well, it was a nightmare!
I miss going and standing in line all night. Spending that time hanging with my friends, meeting other fans... I have memories that the last generation or two will never be able to experience, and that makes me sad.
I will never understand why there’s a “convenience” fee for getting an e-ticket. It probably costs that much to print and mail physical tickets and they don’t want to miss out on all that $$. Understandable if it’s like 2.95 or something. But anything more than $5 seems wholly unnecessary.
Not to mention that they work with so many venues that you can’t get around them? It’s like Disney buying all their competitors.
Or that same fee for as many tickets as you purchased. If you purchased together, it's ONE order, ONE fee. 😤
It's a fee for *their* convenience, so they can *conveniently* announce profits higher than any previous year.
The convenience fee I actually understand. Back in the day, people had to go to the stadium box offices or call the box office directly to purchase/hold tickets. The performer would pay the venue a set price (or scale price by tickets sold) for performing there. Thus that would pay box office staff.
When e-tickets became a thing a lot of box office staff were cut back or completely closed. The convenience fee should be going toward operations of the website which for a site of Ticketmaster’s size can be massive considering behind the scene staff, servers/equipment, office space etc etc
It’s all the other stacking fees and price gouging, getting out of hand that really aggravates me.
I personally will pay a convenience fee even of $5-10 a ticket to avoid having to call (if you were lucky you could pay over phone) or drive down to a venue to buy a ticket.
Scalpers were also a big problem at sold out shows having stood in line before everyone else and reselling for a egregious price at the venue night of performance.
I loathe Ticketmaster. However having been in the in between of old vs modern ticket sales methods I will deal with Ticketmaster any day 👀
@@Jesstabulous I'm sorry but that's a big HELL MF NO. Ticketmaster has PLENTY of cash to upkeep. That should be ON THEM, not the consumer or the artist 🤷
There's no longer a per-ticket cost to the company. There's no employee that has to manually give you the ticket. Everything is automated. Dev teams don't need to scale linearly with number of customers, it's highly sub-linear. Same with server costs, they're negligible on a per-ticket basis. There's no justification for a convenience fee. We don't have them in basically any other online industry.
Go Swifties!!! As a concert goer, this is HUGE!!! I remember i was going to purchase a Kendrick Lamar ticket for $140. By time taxes & fees hit, that ticket was $214 🤯. A big F U to ticketmaster
Thanks for keeping your viewers informed about these cases, Emily; excellent work! I am lead local counsel for the plaintiffs in the Barfuss case, and there should be a lot more for you to report after we appear before Judge Wu on Nov. 6. One small correction: we are not a class action. Rather, we represent 355 plaintiffs each asserting individual claims. Defendants removed us to federal court as a "mass" action under the Class Action Fairness Act (CAFA), and we are now trying to tie ourselves to the ruling in the Heckman case denying defendants' motion to compel arbitration. We think that makes the most sense, and could know whether it will happen as early as the next court hearing on Nov. 6.
I've been going to concerts since I was 11 and I'm 50 now. I've never been so disgusted with Ticket Master and TS tickets. It's wholely disgusting that her fans can't afford to see her show. I had to take my girls to the theater for the Era's movie with their friends and I felt so bad this is how they had to see it. But here we are, feeding into the machine. It's very frustrating. I've been looking for tickets to one of the shows in New Orleans next year and the prices are INSANE! 2-10K.
I loath Ticketmaster. A couple months ago I tried to buy concert tickets for one of my fav bands, the tickets were $30 and unfortunately sold out quickly during presale. Resales were anywhere from $300-$1100..
Robert Smith of The Cure MADE TM refund customers a percentage on their service fees. TM charged a service fee of $27 for Lawn Seats that cost $25. Robert Smith really put TM in place. No BOTS/Scalpers... you had to be verified fan to get a CODE #. All us '80s Peeps praise Robert Smith for looking out for his fans AND for having cheap tickets.
YES!! He came through for their fans. Taylor and other artists need to do the same.
they tried to do Verified Fan w Taylor Swift. we crashed their system,. Ticketmaster was told and they said they could "handle the traffic" they lied.
The “verified fan” thing is a total scam anyway!
may artists do verified fan sales now but Ticketmaster still finds a way to screw people over. Tons of resellers still get the tickets by signing up and tm supports them because they benefit from the reselling.
Replay crew here: I'm so grateful for a major artist like Taylor Swift and fans for taking on Ticketmaster. We follow smaller bands & venues that are gutted financially by Ticketmaster. We buy merch/VIP meet & greet whenever we can because it goes to the band directly. Tickmaster can kiss our collective a$$$$$$!
would love to see someone like U2, but the most affordable ticket I could find was the nosebleed seats in a football stadium and that was over $200. If I wanted halfway decent seats, well over $500. I used to go to at least a couple of big name concerts a year, but I just can't do that any more. I didn't know Ticketmaster was making money off the secondary market, but now it makes sense if they get fees from the initial sale, fees from both buyer and seller on the secondary sales. I didn't know I was battling bots to try to get a ticket, but I get it now, Ticketmaster has no interest in selling to me the first round at all.
We called them ticketbast@rd. And in the early 2000s they were sued over fees and they gave us all credits for concerts, but you could rarely use them. It was stupid.
My #1 thing is make it illegal to resell tickets over original price. Any artist, any platform.
Bunch of countries have done just this.
You do need an official resale platform, but you need it so it can detect which tickets are being sold and cap it to their face value.
+ just a reminder, even in a perfect system, most people will fail getting Taylor Swift tickets.
Let's say her US leg's shows seat 3 million people, and 13 million want them... it's tough luck.
It's called scalping. Should illegal.
Ticketmaster is the problem in itself for reselling for face value. I accidentally bought a ticket for the wrong weekend of a festival. To resell it so that I would get face value, the buyer would have paid around $ 70 more. I didn’t want to do that so tried FB marketplace. They technically don’t allow sale of concert tickets. I wouldn’t be surprised if that is because of Ticketmaster. Luckily I was able to find someone through another platform and was just able to sell at face value (exchanging in person rather than online). It’s a ridiculous system.
Right? In the old days you would dump your last minute tickets below face value if you couldn't attend, just to make some money back.
The larger stars need to form a cooperative, get Dolly Parton to run it, start building their own venues and then tell Ticketmaster to pound sand. It would take awhile but think of all that money going to everyone else other than Ticketmaster.
Seriously. Dolly Parton got a vaccine for a global pandemic developed and released so insanely fast. Imagine Dolly Parton and Taylor Swift doing anything together...The Power.
Oh hell, Dolly and her power could RUIN TM!!
yes! but I also wonder why nobody did yet these days
it’s been a legal scam for soooo long; it’s about time to say “stop it!”
I so hope something positive comes from all this! I'll never forget when I was trying to get chili pepper tickets and all tickets were completely sold out in just the presale weeks before even being on regular sale, mostly by scalper bots. My mom ended up getting tickets and paying a small fortune and when we went over a quarter of the seats were empty, mostly the good seats. I guess the scalpers were not able to sell them all
I don't have personal beef with Ticketmaster because I don't leave my house, but their business practices are disgusting, and I am glad to watch this go down from the sidelines.
Same. I don’t think I’ve ever used them? But this just makes me plan to never use them.
The more I think about Ticketmaster and all the crap they have beem pulling over the years and this new "arbitration", the madder I get!
I wanted to go to a show, but between Ticketmaster and scalpers they were out of range. It really sucks
($80 face value, $215 day after released)
Questions I have 1. Doesn’t New Era arbitration sound like it was designed to anticipate ERAS complaints. 2. Who owns New Era and how are they related to ticketmasters owners? 3. Can you form a company to prevent class action lawsuits but then treat complainants as a class action for settling without the penalties? 4. Is there Fuckery afoot?
I paid over $400 on the ticket master fee to see George Strait. Go Swifties.
Edit: That was just one ticket for one show. IDK how much for all the times I've seen him.
I know I paid about that for a VIP ticket for Lindsey Stirling’s Christmas tour a couple years back, and I always choke on the $159 in fees they slap on to the ticket. A $350 ticket should not have that much in fees slapped on top.
I had the swift presale code, the capital one presale code, AND the special sale code because two of the concerts was in the county i work and part of our taxes go to the stadium. I tried all 3 days. i got to the seat selection in my cart screen several times - which we are supposed to have 15 mins to check out and as soon as i hit purchase, i got an error that the tickets had already been purchased. multiple times.
This is the most frustrating part! It's like playing whack-a-mole in the worst way possible.
I'm just waiting for Emily to say that Ticketmaster owns the arbitration company too. 36:43
That's the question I have asked my self. WHO created this new arbitration company? Who controls it?
Betcha it’s someone they control.
The fact they named it "New Era" is so crass.
It is also really important to remember that Taylor Swift and Beyoncé are a very small portion of the tickets being sold through Ticketmaster. Small artist that are playing midsize to small venues are getting literally no profit from playing shows. They have to rely entirely on merchandise sales and venues take a cut of that as well. Ticketmaster needs to be brought under control not just a benefit the consumer, but to benefit the proliferation of art in general.
My 14 yr old son is an excellent guitarist who loves the same bands I grew up with, Van Halen, Alice In Chains, ZZ Top, GNR. I have tried to get tickets to ZZ and GNR but since they start at 199 for nose bleed seats , before any of the ridiculous fees etc, I can’t afford it like many Americans. It’s sad they have made going to see your favorite bands unattainable for the majority of people without taking out a loan!
This is a small scale example of what happens when you abuse peoples’ rights to access goods and services by charging or attempting to charge exorbitant and extortionately high prices. I wish the “swifties” every success and I hope this encourages us all to fight for the things are important to us! Stay free and safe.
My brother was part of the lawsuit that broke up what live nation used to be. They should know better since his company was awarded a huge amount by the jury.
I wonder how many kids of congress are involved 😂 they can make it move 😂
I know everybody always says that Ticketmaster has a monopoly, and it completely looks like that, but there are venues that refuse to use them. The stadium in Cleveland won't use them. They use Seat Geek. While everyone was on Ticketmaster for Aerosmith having problems, I breezed right through Seat Geek getting ours. Then the next day when people were still complaining about Ticketmaster, I went on Seat Geek and could just about get any ticket I wanted at any venue for Aerosmith. Small venues have turned from Ticketmaster too.
That's what it's gonna take to end this monopoly. I wish more venues would stand up. Without those venues there will be no TicketMaster.
@@warriorqueen8235 What really needs to happen is the artists turn from Ticketmaster and only use none Ticketmaster venues. Would that cause a problem yeah for like maybe a year. I understand why it's easier for one entity to be used for all tickets, but it would be great if the venues sold their own. Also having multiple sites sell tickets it could possibly result in double booked seats. What's the answer for that? Who knows.
I bought tickets to 3 shows in Chicago for the final tour of Skinny Puppy and they bypassed Ticketbastard for the VIP/ticket combo for a limited amount of tickets. Save me a ton on fees. Paid more for VIP, but felt satisfied not giving them my money. Other shows on the other hand.. taking my nephew to see Static-X in February and 2 Ticketbastard ticket fees were half of the total of the tickets. That is just insane.
I remember waiting in line for hours for tickets. The tickets were $15 then. I love live music and as I am getting older and the bands I love are getting older I have spent some money the past several years to see them. I don’t like what Ticketmaster is doing with the outrageous fees but the scalpers are
out of control. It sickens
me when I go to “sold out shows” that I had to pay double + for and see all the empty seats.
Yeah we could get them at Buy For Less, a grocery store.
I have just become an honorary "Swiftie"! Ticketmaster owes me $4500 after 2 cancelled Aerosmith shows!
Jeez!!! It's a small fortune.
If this isn't insane and disgustingly unfair, I don't know what is...
Hope you'll get your refund. Somehow, someday... 😅
I could not ever imagine spending almost 5k to see someone sing! Talk about first world problems.
Pearl Jam did it first. They tried suing TM in the 90s. Even met with Congress.
If I've learned one thing in life, it's don't fuck with Swifties cause you will lose 😂
Why you can’t even go to the theater anymore, it’s not just that they tell you there are certain price tickets (which are more often gone when you check), but then the fees they tack on make it insane. Mortgage and utilities come before fun these days 😢
I love Taylor Swift. I have been a huge fan since her very first single oh so many years ago. I am finally old enough that I can afford things like going to concerts…but didn’t even *try* to get Eras tickets because I knew how little chance I had at actually securing a *reasonably priced* ticket. It makes me really sad that I’m missing the tour and having to make due with the movie. 😢 I really hope Ticketmaster is ruined and concert tickets go back to being more reasonable and more accessible to all.
Emily, I'm personally in for the anger, I feel it too. This lawsuit is so long overdue, and we've been ripped off for such a long time. I also agree wholeheartedly that live music is incredibly powerful at recharging our batteries among other things. Also a huge DMB fan and a huge fan of you. Love the content and the sass.❤
I’m old, 68 and haven’t gone to a concert in many years, about 15, after having a brain aneurysm and find it impossible to deal with movement of people and loud unexpected sounds as well. I do remember lining up for tickets for hours but venues limited purchase of tickets per person which made it fairer for everyone. If a ticket was $20, it was $20…period! No additional fees. Were there scalpers, you bet, was it the problem it is now? Nope. Local promoters were the majority, not like now. Live Nation was if I remember correctly, a Canadian Promoter run by Arthur Fogle who put an end to that. Last concert I saw live was John Fogerty and that was about 15 years ago. We had good seats and I think we paid about $60. I bought merch at the event and thought the prices were reasonable, but I can’t remember the price now.
Ughhh, Ticketmaster is the reason why I've never been able to see Taylor live. 😥 I hope something changes.
Swifties literally broke Google with the vault puzzles and Google was prepared. Ticketmaster better take notice. Also our side quest thanks to Travis is getting all NFL stadiums to swap from artificial turf to natural because it reduces head injuries.
I very rarely go to large shows, which has thankfully kept me away from most of Ticketmaster's shenanigans. Every now and then my mom loves to tell me about her amazing experiences at Madison Square Garden and it does make me sad because the way things run right now I'll never be able to afford the same thing.
It seems we need to find out why our law makers have not set better laws to protect consumers againt this. Who has dropped the ball and why?
republicans protect businesses and rich people, they want less rules and regulations. The same group who cant elect a speaker are the ones who dropped the ball.
probably legislators get gifted best seats to keep the status quo.
Swiftie here! I swear I had the hardest time with verified fan getting tickets it was a nightmare
I really hope these lawsuits cause Ticketmaster to change. They have been the bane of my existence since forever
Highly unlikely. This isn't the first time someone has tried to take them on. Pearl Jam tried it in the 90s after they tried to do a tour without using Ticketmaster. Tour failed because TM has a monopoly on venues and pearl jam got blackballed from venues because TM threatened to pull out of contracts or something like that. So they tried to sue and even met with Congress about passing a bill and the bill eventually got dropped.
@@anna5169 but now they have the Swifties AND the BTS ARMY to contend with. I can't speak for the Swifties, but ARMY doesn't back down, and I suspect the Swifties don't either. We're in this for the long haul.
Word of the day comparison:
Concurrent: Happening at the same time. Example sentence: There are three concurrent art fairs in this city.
Concomitant: Naturally accompanying or following something. Example sentence: She loved travel with all its concomitant worries.
English MA commentary: Basically, the art fairs don't have to have any relation to each other. They just all happen to occur at the same time. They are concurrent. The use of Concomitant indicates an inherent and obvious link between the items, saying that the one thing causes the second thing. So the judge is taking a position on the cause and effect going on here.
Tried to get Colplay tickets in many venues and couldn't get 1 ticket. Queued many days on their site for different venues. Doesn't make sense unless you buy the most expensive tickets.
I wanted to take my girls to Olivia Rodrigo… same thing happened. We got codes and I still didn’t stand a chance. When I finally got thru only thing left was $300 floors tickets. Was going to be over $1100 for three of us!
Yet TONS of nosebleed seats are on resale sites for $200 each. They were $60 regularly.
Same here! I wanted to see her in Montreal and STARTING price was 250$!! I didn’t even get a code anyway lol 🥲😂
@@jaderobitaille5810 I got the last round of codes, then was number 2000 in the queue 😆
I went to look at ticket prices when she announced she was coming to Canada and the cheapest seat was almost 400$...the most was Over 100k for 1 seat!
Why is re-selling at a higher price even allowed? No ticket seller In my country offers the option to help you re-sell your ticket, in fact you have a fine print saying you are not allowed to sell them. The most they do is give you the option to buy insurance and return your ticket to get back your money via the insurer and that's only if it's something sold like six or more months in advance.
I can’t believe they were allowed to get this much power to begin with?
Go Swifties!!! We gave $700 of moving services for 2 Bruno Mars tickets. This was years ago. I can only imagine what Swifties are having to do and pay for tickets 😢
You’ll have my support 🎉
Don’t forget the head of the company deciding that is little people should no longer be able to look forward to seeing a concert as a weekend event. Instead he decided it should be more of a once a year vacation type experience and decided ticket pricing should reflect that as such. I wish I was joking 😡
Honestly I haven’t been to a concert in years because of rona first but then the sheer prices of tickets 😢
Why can't the artists, every band and solo artis get together and refuse to play any live shows and demand new rules regarding the sale of tickets ?
I love live music! Last night after work my daughter and I drove 3 hours to see a band from Nashville playing in Reno
Whoa! Not just double dipping, they're TRIPLE dipping!
I went to see The Church, an Australian band that had the hit Under The Milky Way, two weeks ago. I remember sitting at my watch station with their album The Blurred Crusade playing on a CD player. They didn't play my favorite song, You Took, and I was sad. Then they did an encore and they played a 15 minute version of You Took. I almost cried! There was a girl at the front of the stage dancing and pogoing for the whole three hour set. There was a lady to mu right and I looked over at here and she was smiling almost the entire time. It was so good.
???
I have a large yard as well. Let’s “band” together and have lawn concerts. Port-a-potties here we come. My dad also left me a concession trailer. We got this! 😂 Seriously, I’ve seen Taylor Swift every tour until the Eras tour. I couldn’t afford 2K per ticket. I’ve seen Bonjovi 5 times, Keith Urban 7 times. I had to stop seeing my fav bands due to ticket master and scalpers. It’s now a rich man’s game. Breaks my heart. It was a family thing. 3 generations going to concerts together. No more. 😢
My experience has NOT improved since they took over. Ticketmaster even get part of merch sales, there hand is in EVERY aspect of money from bands
Which is insane because merch sales are where bands get paid the most and even then its not enough
@@Petersauntmay they even get the beer sales. It's ridiculous how the bands get raked over the coals
It was so stressful getting fan verified tickets for the Renaissance tour. I’d love to see stan Twitter come together to organize against TicketMaster.
I remember watching a commentary from a US TV station reagarding Hamilton musical ticket prices. Everyone in the studio praised how the UK sold tickets: only official website, owner of the credit card used to buy tickets had to be there while entering, resale through official website. Result? Ticket prices were much cheaper than in the US, because in the US people could buy tickets and then resell them for whatever price they wanted, including ten- or more fold, so some people becase professional ticket resellers practically banning the everyman from watching Hamilton.
One of New Era's advisors, Dan Abel, worked for CAA (Creative Artists Agency) for over 2 years. So of course he has a ton of contacts in the music industry. One could assume he knows lots of people at Live Nation. I would love to read into the backgrounds of everyone else who advises this company... I see 24 advisors on their site, and only 13 employees!
I have purchased concert tickets exactly twice in the last 15 years, and it was ONLY because I really wanted my kid to experience it. $800 for 2 tickets in lame seating area. That can FRO.
You pronounced concomitant PERFECTLY. A term used often in pharmaceutical sales, as well as medical settings. Regarding medication intake. Have never seen it used in legal. Love your use NAy Nay! ! Also my word for bananas’ “NayNays”! Yes I also have ADHAD
Tiicket Mistress TAYLOR NEEDS TO SHUT THEM DOWN and take over TICKETMASTER
The issue with Ticketmaster was the No ticket issue that we sat online for in presale for 12 hours when in reality Ticketmaster had accidentally sold every ticket the day before!!! Plus the whole no bots …. Right
They need a separate section for BTS. Our ticket sales are called the Hunger Games andcthat is no joke.
They make GOBs of money on kpop acts. I get that demand adds value, but they are so damn shady. I've seen comments on reddit that have called out resellers getting early access codes from TM...because TM gets to pocket so much of it.
Pearl Jam got into a legal squabble with ticketmaster back in the early 90s. Pearl Jam felt more than a total amount of $35 was too much for their young fans. This went on for awhile.
Finally I think Pearl Jam caved because fans didn't know where to go to get tickets. So, ticketmaster has been a problem for artists for decades.
Ticketmaster tickets are so ridiculously expensive that i now exclusively see live music from local artists (I'm in Idaho, so its just a get what you get scenario). I would have loved to go to Era's tour or to see Willie Nelson, but paying $300+ and having to commute 4-6 hours to the venues just makes it impossible for me to afford it.
They should have known All to Well this is not a Love Story between
the Swifties and TicketMaster. In their Wildest Dreams did they think
they could get away with it. My friend told me 'You need to calm calm down' but it's a Cruel Summer
having to pay these outragous services fees.
I knew you were trouble. There was a blank space in the comments section but not in my wildest dreams did I think of anything this clever. It just reminds me that Ticketmaster is why we can't have nice things. But these lawsuits? I'm ready for it......
I’ve had it out for Ticketmaster since the Hannah Montana and Jonas brother’s concerts
I remember back in the 1990s PEARL JAM & OTHER BANDS wanted to take down Ticket Master.... These Artists DON'T WANT TO USE TICKET MASTER....Kid Rock just said something about how much it costs to go to a concert. He agreed to take a pay cut, just so people could afford tickets. TICKETMASTER FEES CAN DOUBLE A TICKET PRICE...
I'm both a swiftie and an army and buying tickets is an absolute nightmare. Especially those sound check tickets for bts where you lose the sound check option on resale.
So i am 100% invested in all the TM lawsuits!!
I don't go to many live shows and the ones I do go to are usually pretty small. But I wanted to get my dad and his wife tickets to see a comedian a few years ago at Christmas. So irritating. I didn't fully figure it out until I already purchased the tickets but I ended up having to download the Ticket Master app on my dad's phone and log in with my info so they could use the tickets I bought for them as a gift. There was no option to get physical tickets like I had hoped and there was no way to transfer as a gift or send the digital tickets to anyone else.
I didnt have beef with ticket master, I dont work for them. Ive never bought a ticket through them before. But I have beef with them now after hearing about how they treat their customers and acts!
Remember when tickets were $15-$25? The last concert I saw was Garth Brooks because his tickets were capped at $50. It was an amazing show!! I wanted to go see Taylor Swift and P!NK with my daughter but it was about $800 for tickets for seats that were just below the nose bleed section… before fees. I don’t have that kind of money! It’s heartbreaking. that my kids don’t get the same concert going experiences that I had in my teens and 20’s. I’m a Gen X mom and spent every week going to at least 1-2 concerts a week.
I agree.. The scalpers get all the tickets and we get stuck paying outrage prices. I tried buying Lana Del Rey tickets and it said I was a bot LOL!! But the bots bought out all the tickets.... LOL!
This battle with Ticketmaster has been going on for 30 years. When Pearl Jam was at their height they stopped playing Ticketmaster venues.
i recently bought 2 tickets for my daughter for some JPOP virtual artist. they were in the $70 range (less than $80 each), the total came to $300. how on earth does that make sense? its not even a real (read: human) artist!
Thank you for covering this because I haven’t been able to afford tickets lately. I went to see Bon Iver earlier this year and was shocked that after fees, the cost of our tickets was DOUBLE.
I am legitimately so confused how ticketmaster US is allowed to do this??? I got my tickets for the UK shows - i literally paid no more than £2 per ticket for "service charge". So it seems like it is also an issue with the actual country-specific regulations
There ya go!! Have a music festival in your backyard!! For the past few years I have been volunteering at a local live music festival held at a campground, it holds 2500-3000 people, and they get some good older bands. I got faith that you could set something similar up!!
Pure greed will be their downfall! Will enjoy following this case
When you pay more I’m fees for than for your actual ticket ..f all that
As a disabled Canadian I cannot buy tickets because online it gives no option to buy "accessible seats".
I HATE Ticketmaster. Phoning them to get tickets, is impossible because they don't answer their fucking phone, or on hold forever....
Across Canada too 😢
I just got back from a 2 day high school marching band competition, two 2 day tickets $59, the ticketmaster fees on those tickets $30.
"I have a large backyard"😂😂 made me laugh out loud
It’s really hard to get a refund from them as well!!!!
Well I didn’t have an issue against Ticketmaster, but now I do. Godspeed, Swifties.
The arena here in Salt Lake just said goodbye to Ticketmaster and switched to Seatgeek
