Indian all day. Harley essentially took a Pan America, tweaked the design and slapped their name on the tank instead of Pan America. If Indian wanted to go the cheap route as well and EASILY compete with the new Sportster S with the power and torque, all they had to do is take the engine from the FTR and slap it into the Scout Bobber. The FTR has the exact same engine as the Scout Bobber with some minor internal tweaks to it such as the bore and stroke and a higher compression ratio piston to produce more horsepower and torque. With that being said, Indian already has an answer to Harley's Sportster S already in the works called the Indian Scout Rogue. They have been working on it for a while now. They haven't revealed any specifics about the bike other than the name and that they are putting it in the Scout lineup.
I’m a former Harley girl and was excited to see the sportster S when it came out, but was disappointed. Yes, it has the power and tech, but it’s not a sportster. IMO they would’ve been better off rolling this out as a new model. Even though the new sportster has more power off the floor, I still prefer my Scout Bobber. The bobber twenty has enough power for my needs and if I want more there are performance upgrades I can get for it. Thanks for another awesome video. ☺️
Yeah I really agree that they should’ve just called this bike something else! They released the Pan America and it was well received as a new style. This one could’ve been named something else and done well as it’s own thing. Thanks for watching!!!
I agree.... it's not really a Sportster when you look back on tradition. It's a new style for them and they should've marketed it that way with a whole new name.
Coming from owning a few Harley's I had hoped for more from the Sportster S. Once I actually heard the exhaust, that sealed it. I do not think even after market could help that, and would probably be a design nightmare. Glad I went with the Scout. My 2 cents Mike
I have an EVO Sportster and the Sportster S blows as far as the exhaust note goes. Sounds like a Euro bike. The Scout really jumps to life with exhaust it just sounds mean and aggressive. I watched a few videos on aftermarket exhaust for the Sportster S and it really just sounds like crap. At 15k it better sound American LOL
I bought the scout bobber because I think Indian is overall a better company. Polaris isn’t going out of business anytime soon, they’ve got government contracts, private contracts and lead in Powersport manufacturing so there’s going to be support for Indian. Harley put their eggs in one basket and refused to market to the younger generation, and now they’re playing catch up trying to gain the younger generation.
I could have purchased the Scout 6 months ago but instead ordered the Sportster S in July 17. I pick up my Sportster S on Tuesday. Which one would I go for? The one that I would wait 6 months for of course.
@@Lavatronn The base black. The bronze/copper highlights and the blacked out form of the rest of the bike kind of means that the white and crimson just don't make the tank stand out as much with that bronze/copper writing. It just looks great in black.
This video is a prime example of a channel with no motorcycle compairing two totally diff classes of bikes. These two bikes cannot and shoukd never be compared. The sportster s is a street beast that eats most street japanese bikes under 100mph (which most ride anyway) The scout bobster should only be compared to the 48

Yes yes and yes! can’t wait to see the Rogue!

Scout bobber all day. Better looking and more reliable.
Great choice!
Another great video!! Thanks Lavatronn keep up the great content
Thanks for the support!!
I own a scout bobber and they are a fun fast little bike. I think they look better. I haven't had a chance to test ride the Sporster S yet
👍🏼👏🏼

Can’t blame you! Thanks for your input 😀👍🏼

Solid points! You are absolutely right about both companies 👍🏼
Video accidentally posted at midnight 😭😂
I love the Sportster S look. That Indian looks pretty sweet too! Great video 👍 👌 Lots of tech now days on these bikes
😀👍🏼 Yeah I agree! These new bikes are all very tech now
Great video Lavatronn.
Thank you!! 😀👍🏼

Congrats on getting it! That’s really exciting. What color did you order?

The more I see that Harley the more I like it
😀👍🏼!! I hope I can test ride one soon!
This a tough comparison. Harley more expensive but offers more up front as far as tech and performance, lighter, etc.
Yeah you’re right on that!
"Harley more expensive but offers more up front..." - excellent logic. :~)
Harley all day👍🏿💯

I test drove so many Harley’s before I bought my scout bobber 👌🏻 just was a better overall fit with a better look in my opinion 🤷🏻♂️
Great choice!
The Harley is less reliable and has terrible repair costs
3K is a pretty big difference. I like the sportster design better though.
It really is!
