    Most of the facts given in the video regarding the privatization are lies btw. It started in the late 80's under Gorbatsov as factory leaders started siphoning money as the collapsing central government lacked tools to oversee. This is where the first oligarchs started from. Under Yeltsin the voucher program distributed the industry of the Russian Federation (not the soviet industry), so that 51% of each factory was given to the workers. Not seeing a value in them or getting a less than livable wage workers usually sold them to the factory owner willing to buy. The individuals who knew how to take advantage of stock often had ties to black market and smuggling activity, which had given them both the means to understand the eventual market mechanisms and the mentality to get as much available resources they could. Later in the 1990's the government itself had to take out loans to function, and closed auctions were held to individuals where national companies were sold under market value. This was to A) fund the government, B) get the industry under market mechanisms and yes, C) make sure the key industry was to remain under persons directly trusted by the existing Yeltsin administration, who were called oligarchs because of their wealth and political ties now tied them directly to the ongoing system of governance. You really don't need a CIA plot for any of this.

      Wagner was explicitly not integrated into the Russian armed forces until after the coup attempt in which their leader was killed by Russian forces
      They worked alongside the AFRF, but they were regarded as expendable mercenaries by the military command, and in all honesty not being part of the armed forces but essentially just contract workers who were actively hindered by the actual Army Command was the reason the whole rebellion happened, after which Wagner was completely disbanded
      Meanwhile Neo-nazis in Ukraine kept disregarding orders and got... Integrated into the armed forces as a special operations unit?? That was fucking wack, one thing to hire shady people to fight for you, another to make them explicitly part of your national armed forces
      Both are human scum, but the fact remains that, much like everyone else, Russia pretended to not have nazis in their army by not integrating them, while Ukraine didn't

The British Empire in India, the autonomous government of which was called the British Raj, or translated into English, the British Empire, though the term India/British Raj referred to both directly ruled by the British government and the autonomous government...
      Like... This is the same as saying that Ohio is a seperate country from the USA because its not located inside of the direct jurisdiction of the US Federal government
      Russia and Ukraine were, for most of their existence, not seperate countries, but just two regions inhabited by pretty much the same peoples, ruled over by numerous other countries, where Russia was born out of the independent Muscovite duchy, and the lands known as Ukraine today were under foreign rule for most of their post Rus history
      The USSR, contrary to shit takes on the Internet, was a mixing pot of a lot of nations with Russia vaguely in charge of it all by the fact that the Kremlin was there.
      Josef Stalin, the guy who literally went around causing famines and shooting people left and right, was from a place that was not relevant in the USSR at all, but he was just a horrible person, not some true blooded pro russian hypernationalist who killed all those innocent Russians, Ukrainians, Tatars, Estonians and Siberians for the Motherland
      The USSR was a union of numerous nations, and Ukraine was part of it, so was russia, and every other Republic, sure, some of them got fucked less because the guys in charge related more to the average Moscow russian, but it was still a singular country encompassing the territories and peoples of Ukraine and Russia. Another thing on the Nuland phonecall: It actually shows them supporting Yanukovych. Ukraine has both a president and PM. Nuland and Pyatt are discussing a deal proposed earlier by Yanukovych, wherein he remains as president with Yatsenyuk as prime minister and Klitschko as deputy prime minister.

    There's no ethnic split in Ukraine. Never was.

    Only Crimea had 50%+ of ethnic Russians, Sevastopol had 70%+. Thats it.

    As somebody who's in one of those countries "the US expanded NATO onto", whoever falsely frames it like that is the enemy. They're not people who holds mistaken beliefs, they're just the enemy. Our agency isn't even something that pops into their minds (joining NATO was something we pushed for HARD, to make it happen), we're just the splotches on a map he feels like he can imperiously decide will be "buffer zones" that should just live in soft subjugation and constant worry of hard invasion should we decide to do something our not-imperial not-master neighbors don't fully like. They want us to suffer for their convenience, since they don't care.

    • @sasho_b.
      @sasho_b. 3 місяці тому

      And im also from one of theose countries, and you are wrong. You talk of agency but forget the fact that voting means little. At least where i am. This is reality, where money votes. You feel like you are deprived of agency because you are. Now think of how to do something about it. Something that isnt to just "vote harder". Because our last PM was elected by 10% of the nation.
      Just because you are made of atoms doesnt mean you understand physics, and just because you live in a nato base doesnt mean you understand nato. Sure, proximity helps, but Americans have lived with systemic racism for the last 200 years and they understand it about as well as you understand the politics of your proverbial back door.
      Experience alone isnt enough, reasoning must be applied as well.
