I have xh2 and xh2s I replaced em by zv e1 and a7c ii, with the new update for wide angle like 30 and less autofocus is good, 50+ i still don’t like it, any movement front or back it’s gonna lose the focus, i tried with sigma 56mm f1.4 and viltrox 75-27 f1.2, sometimes it work well sometimes it won’t so for professional work or even vlogging if I can’t take the shot again, hell no I won’t risk it 😆 and this update won’t let me consider using the cameras again, which is sad bcoz coloring Fuji videos is always superior to all other brands for me
Great comparison especially as you really levelled the conditions by using the same lenses from the same manufacturer I dont think Ive seen someone be that meticulous before 👍
Thanks alot. I bought the sigma Sony e to do these comparisons because everytime I see a comparison it's like with native lenses and we all know Fuji lenses are not Sony lenses, not the same optical quality, not the same motors so yeah. Glad you found it helpful and would love if you can share it around so that might reach more people
This a good but the main issue with the Fuji has been the false positives especially with stills. It confirms it has the face or subject tracked but once u start editing it clear has either front or back focused. Just wondering if u pixel peeped and checked if the focus was actually achieved and sharp?
Hey great video. I cant help but notice when i pay attention to the backgorund blurring, sony one seems smoother transitioning than the fuji. Fuji still seems slightly choppy to my eyes. Maybe im imagining. I have both sony and fuji and i find im getting more " keepers" with my sony when it comes to shooting hockey games for my son. Fuji might be showing the tracking box more sticky bow now but is the shot still in focus? Not sure. Maybe its my lens for fuji. Anyway its still a great firmware update
Fuji box is stickier than before on the eye and face. And the images are more in focus than before as well. Before it shows u a box on the eye then the focus is different.. now it's better. It's not as smooth as Sony that's for sure
That's also the first thing I noticed, it is still stepping. But this behavior can be seen on every Fujifilm camera regardless of the Firmware version. There is no smooth focusing since the X-T3 firmware 4 broke it.
Thank you so much for the side by side comparison. I keep hearing about how good Sony is but haven’t seen any footage of it. The Sony is scary good. The white box just stays planted on the eye. But Fuji is very good also. Good job. It would be nice to see a comparison against Canon and Nikon also.
I’m so happy you made this. People can finally relax. Despite the white box looking more confident, the end result is basically the same on both here. There were even times in that video where the Fuji did better than the Sony, 5:53 it was able to still identify your face with your hand there, whereas the Sony thought your chin and chest was a face through that whole section. And at 6:30 the Fuji was switching from Face to Eye way quicker than the Sony when you came back in the frame. It also re-acquired total focus quicker several times when you dipped out of frame. Great test 👍
This is very acceptable performance in my mind. I tested my xh2s with the 16-55mm f2.8 and it performed really well. It’s not smooth like Sony 100% but I will take all the benefits the xh2s has over the Sony line up.
Thank you for the test. Really interested to know your Photo experience on a rapidly moving subject moving towards the lens on your Viltrox 75mm @f/1.2 perhaps, af-c, mode 2. Thank you again.
@@photorabz Thanks for your answer, I think it could be interesting to know if boost improves on the new firmware, especially for potential new buyers like myself.
I never used a Sony and always hear about the af speeds. But holy crap it's like their box is running on a 240 hz display vs Fuji's 60 or something with how smoothly their af box tracks. Really wonder if the af performance for Fuji is more hardware limited vs software. Either way it is way better than before.
Yes same value but I mean base iso for Fuji is 160 Base iso for Sony is 100 But according to this test at same iso, Fuji is darker a bit (2/3 of a stop). Meaning that 160 iso Fuji = 100 iso Sony Iso is how much gain is applied to the sensor, and base iso means no gain applied Leading to same analysis
Despite the AF tests what I noticed is that at the same WB, Fuji is more true to life colors in skin tones and less saturated image. Sony skin tones is more green, Fuji is a bit magenta but it’s more natural and pleasing to me. That’s why for me is difficult to get rid of my Xh2s.
If Fujifilm can fix the "smoothness of the focus transitions" then it can be really interesting ... In your video you can clearly see how Sony is smooth and Fuji is E... E... E focused.
Thank you for what you’re doing question how’s the auto focus for photography? They need to get the firmware update for the Fujifilm XT5 out as soon as possible. I’ve just finished taking photos with two different food. You film XT5 and had major auto focus issues even focusing on buildings every once in a while, I would get an out of focus photograph Photos of my family just snapshots. I also had auto focus issues I used to own the Fujifilm XH2 and XH2S and many expensive lenses and I have already sold them. I’m trying to hang on to my Fujifilm XT5 and fixed focal length lenses, but I am frustrated and running out of patience.
The focus plane stepping on the fuji XH2s 7.10 is not smooth like on the sony / xt3 v1.0. Its like this ------...----..----....--.....---....- while sony is like this --..--..--..--..--..--..--..--
You’re kidding? Fuji broke the functionality in a bunch of cameras through poor development and testing and took more than six months to rectify the situation. Customers who earn a living from these cameras as well as folk who bought them for enjoyment have been significantly impacted. Expressing disappointment and frustration is not hate, it’s pretty legitimate.
I'm getting lots of hate now as well I got lots of hate few months ago when I said Im switching from Fuji because of the AF that ruined my videos... No matter what you do you will get hate from fanboys or hateboys hehe
I agree. Few months ago I started my switch to Sony...slowly as I said few months ago.. I got lots of hate in the comment... In the Paris photo fair I was about getting a Sony but then people from Fuji and from Sony convinced me to wait for the new firmware. Even Patrick from Fuji rumors used my video about it.. and it turned out to be correct

I had very few misses with the latest update
@photorabz I shoot sports with the XF200mm. So it would be great to know how it handles subjects which are sprinting towards the lens.😃
I dnt have that lens.....but I got an idea I hope I can work on it this weekend;)
I noticed that you set the right eye priority for Fuji and auto eyes for Sony. Is that your mistake or your purpose? Just curious, thanks.
It's a mistake.. but I dnt think that wld make a difference here .. what do u think?
I agree with your point. If the camera can't detect the eyes, it will detect the face instead. Just curious if it's your specific purposes.
I totally forgot about this hehe
Man, I have the xt30 and love it, but just bought the a6700 for some video work that needs good af and one week later Fuji releases this update. Damn.
Oh :(
The Fuji autofocus is still. It near as good as the Sony
I still think Sony is better in AF. But Fuji is getting better
Very informative, thanks for this test. Is boost mode activated on the xh2s during those tests ?
Hey thx for the comment. I will work on the boost mode soon. I make my tests based on my usage for the cameras mainly

at the same setting fuji are darker?
Base iso on Fuji 160 is equivalent to iso 100 on sony

Normal mode

In tutta sincerità come ti trovi con a6700? Hai avuto problemi di surriscaldamento con video in 4k?
A6700 is great. I don't like taking photos with it as for the viewfinder is on the side. I had once overheat in 4k25 and it was under direct sun
What ND filter you use with Fuji in daylight??
