Both in my opinion were smooth, but still some good old struggles here and there sometimes (although way less than before). Not perfect but definitely better and a step in the right direction in my opinion! Thanks for commenting!
Eye AF was quicker to focus on the eyes, as far as I could tell. There were moments when it was slower, and that was when putting an object in front of the face and expecting the AF to focus on the object (instead of the now-hidden eyes). In that case it was slow moving from the now-hidden eyes to the object, and fast moving from the object back to the eyes. I think this reflects the setting's priorities well. The algorithm seems to introduce a delay of around one second after it loses the eyes in the frame before it tries to refocus on something else, to avoid losing eye focus just because some random shape passed in front of the face. It's kind of an example of "you get what you asked". Ideally there would be a "product presentation" mode that decides between eye AF and focusing on an object in the center, prioritizing what is closer to the camera and more centered in the frame. Dunno if this firmware has such a mode. But if that mode was the default for AF-C, it would create a lot of bad results for people who are not doing talking head UA-cam videos (e.g. if you’re shooting a portrait session or a wedding, you probably don't want product priority by default, you want people & eye priority).

LMAO who ever sold their Fuji equipment will regret it now
If they did so because of the autofocus, I think they will probably be a bit disappointed now, yeah 😄
Watch latest video of camera conspiracies he did better than firmware .
I have seen some of his videos on this topic. I think he customized his settings to where he was getting better results. Nonetheless I think this update is a win. Thank you for your comment!
To me, the eyes look soft and the first without eye detect was sharper?
@@IanButterworthyyc That could very well be the case. I didn't pick that up initially.
hint: nope, check the bokeh its lol
The 35mm f2 is an horrible lens for video. It hunt so much
Yeah I was pretty surprised, actually.
I lost all trust…every month fujis af gets fixed or needs fixing..its a disgrace…
I understand where you're coming from. Hard to swallow that such a big brand is still struggling that mightily with just developing a reliable AF system. Thank you for your comment!
@ i really hope the finally get it right so the constent problems can stop, but selling APS-C Cameras that ALSO dont have reliable af for the same proce as many Full frame offerings wont be a good strat long term…
It’s brilliant. Take that fuji haters.
It certainly feels a lot better right out of the gate.
Better but still bad compared to Sony. I see still pusling, hesitation .... i am ex Fuji user and i leave that system long time ago. Just buy a Sony a6700...i dont get Fuji system anymore there is nothing in it.I buy a7 iv before 3 years and the AF is much better despite the senosr is not stacked etc.
I have an FX30 which I use regularly for corporate video work and the AF is definitely much better. Although, in my opinion, it's not perfect either. Thanks for your comment!
@@AntonJDCreatives its not your opinion is a fact thats is much better.
FUJI - Focusing, Ugly, Jumping, Irritable. It's a shame that Fuji can't do anything. But it's not realistic to sell the equipment. Nobody wants it.
Definitely not Sony level AF, although I think this is pretty smooth and accurate. Especially in Fuji world 😄 You're not a fan, I can tell! Thank you for your comment.
@@AntonJDCreatives I have an xt3 xs10 and as a fuji lover it's just a shame I put my trust in this system.
@@Maikl_Puzov I have a Sony FX30 for my corporate work to be quick and efficient and as a work tool, it certainly is way more reliable. But the XH2-s is a phenomenal camera when you look around on UA-cam and see who uses it and what is being made with that camera. Even with the X-T3 take a look at this video ua-cam.com/video/i4jyK7hgUg8/v-deo.htmlsi=sQviUz93ymf8jXZw That's the most insane quality I have ever seen, shot with the XT-3. He even thinks the AF on that camera is pretty good...
Lmao nobody wants it while resell values is up 100%
Completely disagree
