Dr. Berg, you might be interested to know that I recently saw a video which warned diabetics that taking synthetic vitamin C can be very dangerous, even life-threatening, because it can cause your glucose meter to mis-read your glucose level, showing your glucose level to be much higher than it actually is and prompting action that would cause you to become hypoglycemic. Perhaps this is something you could research and report on? Thank you.

I worked for a Salk researcher 20 years ago who was analyzing by HPLC the antioxidants in people’s blood. First he instructed his group to take no vitamins for a month and we got a baseline. Then they took the specific brand of commercial multivitamin for a month and we retested them. The results were rather shocking. Less the 5% increase was average but was worse is a significant percentage of people actually LOST antioxidants, they were worse off. We tested food based vitamins and the results were much better and no one had a decrease in antioxidant potential. However I will say, liquid vitamins did better than pills. All our studies involved about 50 people so this wasn’t a huge sample size. Older people has less absorption than younger. We took a dietary survey of all participants and those with better diets had far more benefits from good quality vitamins than those who had poor diets. I learned that you can’t have vitamins as a stop gap for a crappy diet, more as an enhancement of a good one.
This research changed my perspective and I tossed out all my grocery store vitamins. I only use concentrated superfoods and key targets like minerals and D3K2.

@@MOAB-UT I have posted on a few blogs with this name so it lets others know who it is.
I was a clinical microbiologist for 35 years. I became disenchanted with mainstream medicine which culminated when I was asked to validate the Covid PCR test at my hospital. I have done molecular diagnostics for 20 years and saw immediately this was an invalid assay. I complained bitterly to the higher ups and was fired.
Perhaps I should change my name to the Former Microbiologist Who Sleeps Well. Now I’m following a path more aligned with sharing my herbal knowledge to help others find their own health. I’m contemplating exploring a certification in Functional Medicine and have been accepted at a school though I am not a chiropractor or naturopath. I think Covid just gave me a much needed push to follow my dreams.
I will put me email in my profile in case anyone is interested. A journey to health is very personal and I respect that. Dr Berg gives knowledge but each individual must decide if it’s useful for them or not. And even if it’s not personally useful you can pass it on to another.
Oh an just FYI, the cortisol in patients who had Covid were the highest I ever saw! I’m theorizing that had a direct connection to their outcomes but my experience is anecdotal.

@@MOAB-UT - thanks for the recommendation..much appreciated. I have been eating a predominantly plant based diet for around 10 years already but use a MV supplement on the occasional days that my time is consumed by work commitments etc (or the odd days that I treat myself to some crappy, nutrient devoid comfort food). I’ve been following Mark Hyman for years & even took the liberty of splashing out a bit of hard earned cash, on a few of his books. I’ve studied human physiology/health/diet/nutrition for over 20 years & thought I had gained an excellent knowledge but Hyman opened my eyes to much of the stuff that we just done see in textbooks or hear from western medicine practitioners. My knowledge has 1-2 gaps & I know very little about the differences between synthetic & natural compound or their names & despite my searching, I’ve found very little information that shows us how to determine between the less expensive & potentially harmful synthetic compounds & the more beneficial natural ones. Many of these compounds come in multiple forms & I’d love to know which is good & what to avoid..a simple table with compounds down the LHS & GOOD/BAD, SYNTHETIC/NATURAL headers at the top is all I need but I can’t seem to find anything like this..any links would be hugely appreciated

@@woodstockxx Not sure I can be much help other than to say read The Plant Paradox. It is a really nice compliment to FOOD- what the heck... by Dr. Hyman.
Be wary of labels claiming health and even claims of organic this or that cannot be trusted- it's mostly just marketing speak.
In general, as you know, get your nutrients from high quality foods. Also, check out Dr. Gundry's YES/NO list. In brief, he highly recommends little to no fruit (Fructose) sans some un-ripened bananas, mangos and papayas- in season. He says to eliminate all Whole Grains and to limit or remove Lectins to avoid leaky gut. Gut health is where it's at. His book takes a different approach than most. His focus is more on what to AVOID eating vs. just what superfoods to eat...though he covers both in great detail. He is an MD out of Yale so he is quite credible. He is not big on taking supplements. He has reversed and healed many diseases in his thousands of patients.

So fat soluble vitamins are very very bad as said in the video that includes vitamin D3 as well, but also many videos where "its impossible to get vitamin D from the food so if we going to take from supplements, to take them with the food". So what to listen, who to listen for right information? Random info all over the channel and youtube as well.

The "natural" form of "vitamin D" (known scientifically as cholecalciferol or "vitamin D3") is technically not a vitamin at all, since it is a prehormone that is synthesized *cutaneously* under "natural" circumstances. Moreover, while the synthetic "vitamin D3" added to milk and other products may be chemically identical to "natural" vitamin D, the "vitamin D2" (AKA ergocalciferol) that is added to milk "replacements" such as almond milk and soy milk is a cholecalciferol analog derived from plant sources (synthetic cholecalciferol itself is commonly derived from substances found on the wool of sheep) that has been seen in studies of the effect of "vitamin D" on lung infections in children to have somewhat different properties from cholecalciferol.

Ear plugs can help; also getting in great shape and reduce stress...and learn to just deal with it. Learn to like it. I consider it a built in stress detector. When it gets bad and effects my sleep, that is a different annoying story, but day to day, you can learn to associate it to your own personal superpower! Ever notice that you can hear things differently- like your ear is tuned in to another frequency? The multivitamin you mention contains spinach, broccoli and beet. These contain high levels of oxalate and must be cooked to reduce this anti-nutrient. Is oxalate extracted before using these foods in your vitamin supplement?
I've read that the amounts of oxalate in spinach and beet are so high that even cooking still leaves them with significant amounts. So I decided to permanently exclude them from my diet. The more I learn, the more I want to just eat my own combination of whole, nutritious foods (and dehydrate some to make my own convenient vitamin-rich powders).

@@MOAB-UT I have to confess that, right now, my list is still in progress. The foods I'm presently eating that are most likely to stay in my "top 10" list are bone broth, wild stinging nettles, dried seaweed, wild salmon, and milk kefir (made with grass fed milk - I wish it was raw, but that's illegal here).
Liver and other wild edibles will be next. I ate some liver a few years ago. I get so grossed out with handling it when it's raw, and spending hours trying to cut out all the tough ducts (or whatever they are), which maybe isn't necessary. I'm going to buy a food processor so I can just dump it in there instead. I hide it in recipes to get past the taste.
I recently discovered Dr Berg's videos - there are so many I still want to watch. They (as well as the comment sections) are really helpful and inspirational for me.

Aside from the factors he's talking about like additives and solubility, synthetic vitamins are fine. They work on a molecular level and at that level the origin doesn't matter.

Addendum: The few angry replies to my original comment are indicate they didn't read it carefully, though it's fairly simple to comprehend. I agree that many of the additives in vitamins are unhealthful. I never said they weren't. My point was that they are molecularly identical. You can get a vitamin C molecule that was derived from rose hips grown organically by gentle, fair-trade practicing vegan farmers and put it next to a vitamin C molecule manufactured by a greedy corporation and they will be indistinguishable.

First, I do not debate with pharmaceutical propaganda-fed bots.
But, most importantly, I'll keep enjoying my fabulously optimal health (because the PROOF is in the adherence to organic, non-synthetic derived products).
      G'day, mate.😎

If you’re worried about the price of organic food then get the regular stuff. Its better to get the vegetables in you than not.

You really need to soak them first and then rinse to get all the pesticides off of the. The soil is probably depleted so there goes many of the vitamins needed.
