man right outta the gate with GUNSTAR HEROES, easily my favorite Megadrive game ever, no contest! also love me some RAIDEN gotta be my favorite shmup series. I think those home ports lacked co-op, but otherwise a good conversion. and then TRUXTON, yeah you nailed the CGR impression there, haha! no shortage of good stuff on megadrive here that's for sure.
I also love Shadow Dancer but it was a shame that the arcade version wasn't also released for the Megadrive, personally i really like Revenge of Shinobi ,the gameplay and the levels and bosses are great and i love love love the Yuzo Koshiro's music. What would have been perfect was to have also released the first Shinobi for megadrive, but unfortunately Shadow dancer arcade and the first Shinobi here both release only for the Master System. As always great video Jim.
Unless you're a collector, Mega Drive Mini 1 and 2 has most of these covered, though even those are kinda expensive these days in online sites but still way cheaper than collecting the cartridges and CDs.
Tatsujin means Adept or Master. Expert. It is called that because this is the first game where they _intentionally_ designed the game based on memorization and intentionally preemptive routing (though the game also thwarts this in ways forcing you to fight for it "live" in places) In theory, you don't have to have the reflexes of a karate master or the precision and control of a surgeon, you can simply learn all the paterns of each screen through repetition and "master" the game. It's mostly true, but in my experience there are plenty of sticky spots you just have to tough it out through. I guess I'm not a true master yet or maybe they just decided they wanted more quarters by the time they were done with it. Only time will tell.
I love collecting Mega Drive today. Sure, they’re very expensive. But picking up a quality title a few times a year is very rewarding. Bonus is the box art are absolute 🔥.
I'm going to Tokyo next week and want to find Sensible Soccer 92-93 Cardridge for Sega Mega Drive. I had it before and my cousin sold it all, he took me for playing.
I have a megajet that I bought sometime during highschool and I'm wondering if the story about indonesian pirates is true since I live in SEA. Would love to get the Devil Hunter Yohko game, I have a bootleg of that which is what is commonly sold in my country.
@@MadPanicGamingI read some rumour that some indonesian pirates were able to hijack a ship and get some of these that's why some units were sold in and around southeast asia. The story sounds so ridiculous that you kinda feel it circles around to being believable
It's so frustating to see many games I struggle to find in very good condition even at twice those prices, since years sometimes... Give me that Fire Shark, and that Golden Axe, and that MERCS, even that Sonic 2, but not the ones with a faded spine :)
Perfect Mark impression 😜
Props to Sega for going with plastic cases back in the 16bit era. It’s a joy for collectors.
Tatsujin = master,expert
Thanks!
Nintendo waited until the GameCube.
OMG when I heard "TRUXTON!", I was just is this dude Mark from Classic Game Room? Haha...
I get that a lot lol
I love that you show game clips in these videos as you're talking about them.

If it's one thing the MD did well, it's shmups. So many classics.
Japanese mega drive has the best box art! My favorites are gunstar heroes, thunder force 4 and gley lancer
Like a mini art gallery.

True, these games really are just for collectors at this point. There are many cheaper digital options.
Nice hunt Jim, always good to see it during week days.
Spot on impression!

Don't feel bad. I'm no master myself.

knuckles chaotix ost....ure a man of culture indeed
One of my favorite Sonic games actually, despite not featuring Sonic. An underrated gem in my opinion.
Wow, I'm surprised at the prices of some of them. Still a good value, maybe time to collect 😆😆😆
Definitely!
That's how they call the console in Europe too?
Yes indeed.
What’s the music called/from at around 4 mins into the video?
King of the Spill from TMNT Shredder's Revenge.
