As soon as someone tells me. "I'm running late" I'll cancel and tell them. "Now your gonna be real late" I drive as the laws saids.
People too violent for that here. Good luck.
Basically telling drivers to be kissing passengers behind, most angry passengers don't engage in conversation with the drivers. it is mostly a silent ride.
One time, I made a right turn one intersection too early and I told my passengers “oh gosh. I made the one then too early” and they perfectly understood.
If Uber/Lyft can deactivate drivers under 4.8, they should do the same for riders.

A few weeks ago, I picked up a guy and asked him how his day was going. He said that his girlfriend had just tried to run him over with her car after an argument and that he broke up with her and needed to get somewhere else as soon as possible. I didn't engage him too much in conversation. I just said that I was sorry to hear what had happened, and I sympathized with him by saying that it's ridiculous how unpredictable people can be sometimes. I don't remember if I turned my radio off or just had some soft music playing in the background to help ease his tension. When I ended the right, he did say thank you.

A big help for me?
I did some research into situational awareness and conflict management.
Now I put the effort into:
Collaboration, accommodation, avoid, compromise and demand my own way.
Rarely do I have to do more than collaborate/accommodate.
Uber does pay to pick up just to transport. I've reduced to 1 person. Gas prices are up.
My Uber pays are way down.
Uber refuses to change passenger # from 4 down to 2 so I fired them, they didn't care.
Went to Lyft, changed my # , no were to update #, deleted app, reinstall ed app, then I was treated as new driver. 15 representatives could not understand updating #, told them they incompetent and fired them, they asked me what's is word (fired). They blocked me.
Back with fd up Uber, pissing people off because I'll only take 1 passenger. Looking for other work.
With a drink cup that big I may not have to stop to reload, but I’m gonna be making a ton of stops to unload 🤭
