On several occasions, I've had drunk passengers ask me to help them tip me on the app. With them clearly watching me do it, I complete the transaction. Out of the 3 times I've done this, once came in fine, a second only $3 of $5 was paid out, and another, I got $0.
I've said it all along... they're ripping us off, which is why I haven't driven now since Feb. No incentive with the high gas prices.
I used to average $35 to $45/hr. Last time I drove, I was lucky to get $25.
Exactly. If its not a drunk person, it's the elderly. I helped an elderly woman tip through the app, she chose $5. Uber gave me $3.
But there is no legislation in place where it would be handled in an expedient fashion. They have more money than the average driver to tie things up in court.
The Judicial system doesn't work for those without.
Up front tipping is a scam. The only reason they even provided us with that is so that they can see what the customer was going to tip us first so they know how to screw us
The title should have been "Of Course über Is Stealing Tips From Drivers."
I caught them twice! Both passengers showed me that they put $20. Both times nothing showed up. I emailed them once an hour asking where is my $20! They said nothing showed up. Then after 8 hours, they finally paid me. They should be ashamed of themselves!
Yup! Same! They transferred me 12x through chat. I told them to move it through email because the chat ping was disruptive while taking rides. They finally paid me because I requested a supervisor in the payments department, to speak by phone, over and over. Everytime they sent me something, I replied back with the copy and paste. Everytime they re-responded, I would check the earnings app to see if the amount was there, if it wasn't, I replied back again.
The only way to see if they are taking our tips is to file a class action lawsuit and randomly pick driver accounts to audit Uber‘s records. Subpoenas will be required because you know Uber will not willingly give up that information.
All somebody has to do is order a bunch of Uber rides and verify with the driver if the tip was received, and if it’s not received, then wait the amount of time that Uber says the tip will come through and then verify it at that point.. nobody wants to do the legwork to see if that’s the case. They just want to sit there and say that they’re getting ripped off with no proof to back the claim up.

Exactly! I was talking about this awhile ago. They need a class action, check the driver's account against Uber's and all of the missing funds through the audit reimbursed to drivers plus interest
I quit Uber due to being ripped off $10 per trip on TWO TRIPS in the Denver market 8 months ago. They came back at me with " unless you screenshot of the up front trip, we will not reimburse you" I cannot screenshot each trip I take! It's dangerous! I was so upset that I QUIT Uber!🤬
Uber ripped me off, too, and I copy and pasted a request to speak with a payments supervisor multiple times through chat. Each time they gave the run around, I told them to move the chat to email since I was working and the chat box was interrupting as I was accepting trips. Once the chat moved to email, I requested the supervisor. 3-days later they reimbursed the funds. They tried to shaft me $3 on a surged delivery. Now I screenshot all rides. If I'm driving, I find somewhere to pull over quickly if I can. You can also get a screen recording app that records your entire daily trip, then you match them to your earnings.
Dara is a Criminal
Not only do I believe they steal tips but I've absolutely noticed the more the tip the lower the base pay per mile.
This increased drastically as soon as they were had to pay minimums in NY. Ever since Uber had forced changes in NY and California the rest of the drivers across the country are paying for it.
I had a passenger who claimed I helped make their birthday amazing with a ride I gave them. They asked how big a tip I wanted and I said I’ll take whatever you give me. They gave me a $35 tip and I watched them put it in. Lyft gave me $8 tip.
The customer could’ve changed the tip amount… and if that happened right then when the customer gave you the tip and you noticed it, you could’ve just gave the customer a quick message or phone call asking him for a screenshot of what he gave you as proof… sounds like there’s more to the story
@@UberDriverChat I don’t think so, it was on Halloween. The customer showed me her screen while she was typing it in. The tip showed up quickly after she exited car and it said $8.

@@UberDriverChat this happens far too often to be a coincidence. I’ve had it happen to me. I entered the tip amount per the customer’s instructions because she wasn’t savvy with tech. $30. Never ever got it. She didn’t change her mind…she was extremely grateful because I was the only driver who would pick her up on a stormy late night at DFW airport.

Although YES Uber is stealing tips, but, tips are never received instantly. Sometimes they come a month later. Not a great example but cudos for bringing more of this criminal organization into the light.

How do you know tips are being stolen
As a driver we set up a sting here in my market. A driver gave his passenger a $10 bill to tip him. After 3 hours the tip came through at $7.35.
@@frank.5985 that should’ve been very easy to document/video to post as proof… But just taking somebody’s word that they did a $10 tip. Who knows if they went back and changed it later… These kind of things are too easy to prove it would’ve been all over UA-cam as evidence… I don’t see any of this posted anywhere… I just see a bunch of people saying this and saying that
Yes, it happen so often, Uber eats, the restaurant put the receipt on the bag it shows $5 tips, the app gave me $2
That is different. The restraunt is stealing the tip. The tip goes to the restraunt and they are allowed the freedom to distribute it to their workers or to their uber eats driver in any ratio they please. But this is only the case if the order is placed on the restraunt web store. Not the uber eats app.
Yes they are & stealing earnings. Offer a ride with a good price but after the ride they pay less than they originally offered. Crooks

How so? If that’s the case, it should be easy to submit your claim to Uber support and get the difference back… I was always taught the numbers don’t lie.

Uber made its first profit ever by stealing drivers tips. However, Uber had a billionaire call them out on it and Dara started to backtrack and make excuses as to why the drivers tips weren’t showing up in their account. 😂😂😂
Of course they take tips. I made about 5 percent of my rides were tipped when I drove over 6 years. I refuse to believe that 5 percent of rides tip.

At the very least Uber and Lyft are egregiously overcharging their customers to the point the customer does not believe they should leave a tip because they are under the impression the majority of what they pay ends up with the driver anyway.
Regardless of what people think about Uber prices they’re still a lot less than what taxi cabs charge
Actually to correct you on that it's the opposite over 90% of the time the passengers are undercharged which Uber has brainwashed them into believing that cheap rides are what are normal when they are actually costing the driver money while riding in the backseat and they want us to support the community and ride for free and work off tips like going to the casino we break even or lose money sometimes we win a small jackpot Passengers feel entitled to cheap rides most the time they don't tip or they take forever two tip and the tip that they do give is just an autocorrect of money that they should have already paid up front to begin with if the tip is even enough...... Then they hit them with a surge to get the money back and the passenger thinks that the driver is getting all of it when they don't realize that Uber is stealing the majority

The max tip in our market (Nashville) is $99. I have watched 2 passengers in the past tip $99 and another for $69 and none came in. There is absolutely nothing I can do unless I get a screenshot of the pax phone and be able to send a time stamp photo of the ride from my screen
I’ve always heard about the tip stilling mystery! I never really felt like it was stolen from me in other words I just trusted the system ,
But strangely three days ago I give a ride to this very lovely person and she said ‘’you’ve been above and beyond I’m adding $20 to the fair ‘’I thanked her and when the ride was over five minute later I received $18.02. To be honest, I didn’t check if she really put $20 but why would she lie over 2 dollars difference? By the way this was Lyft
Uber and Lyft always leave a few options for the customer to tip the amount of… The one you’re talking about the passenger probably just hit the $18 and assume that was closer to the 20 she was gonna do and made it easy for her that way, I don’t think they actually stole the difference

I personally experienced this - the elderly rider asked me to assist her. She chose $5, it didn't process right away. 30mins later $3 pops on my screen. Uber is definitely taking money.

Uber should pay minimum wage, petrol ,car costs, insurance.
Ive been saying for awhile now that due to there being no way for us to know what are customers are tipping, there is no way to know for sure and i think they are holding are tips.
I am a Georgia driver & they have just stolen from me. My fare was a 34 dollar fare before the tip. The client tipped me 17 dollars. Now the tip does not reflect in the payment. It just shows a total fair of $42. If you are in Georgia or anywhere else we need to get together & stop this. Eight dollars here three dollars there four dollars here if they are stealing this from hundreds of drivers think about the profit they are making.
My friend has not received a tip now for the last 20 rides despite her 5-star rating. She now suspects theft.
Yes it happened to me 99% of my tips stolen and friends too until we quit is a scam no more stories about Uber

I watched the customer pressed the submit button on a $20 tip and I never received it. I took them back to their hotel to find their wallet and then back to the airport for free then. This happened 2 days ago also

I would never know unless a rider showed me in real time and I never received. I always try to tip cash and I always tip 90% the other ten is horrible drivers.

Hahaha. BS. 100000% customer service sees everything and is trained to say everything is perfect. I had a client that I been driving ever since the first time I took her in the app and she tipped. I never got it. And I took her out of the app every day she works since the last six months and I never got her tip,… BS.
Uber is doing that For sure Uber stole 2 dollar 79 cents from me, A customer tipped me but when i see earning for that trip the tip was not there.
I caught them several times, it's really ridiculous.
Gryft is far worse. At least I still get tips when I stop working. Not the case with Gryft. We need to audit these companies. They are stealing millions from drivers per year. They steal at least $4000 a year per driver. . Far more than we think. We need it back
they use the ai now to dp the calculation and make sure you are not figuring it out
Some times they delete my serge when I get a good tip. They are indeed stealing tips, in an accounting and sleezy way.
They are because I had a few riders telling me they were going to send a tip for my service n I never end up receiving anything.
Uber has also been making reservation trips disappear after you’ve showed up and once reaching out to Uber support they claim it may take up to 48hrs or 15 days to show up and the driver gets paid
It's true and also not putting the amount of the trip. I ask most of my customers and telling me the exact amount how much then after the trip its way off. Most of the time they will take $5 to $20. Let say $100 service fee is $30 plus other stuff. Then uber will put only $98 $95 on that trip. So $5 already been taken out without you knowing.

Do you have any videos on being hacked? My husband also does Uber and he got hacked before and couldn't go online for 3 weeks! Now I got hacked and it's been 4 days since I could go online and they claim it's being expedited!!
The issue of getting tips after the fact is for sure Hocus Pocus, I get many tips on the same day, but also daily get tips from either previous days or sometimes even weeks late. I know some passengers tip after the fact, but somehow I assume that should a minority, and now that I have been using Uber Pro and download my earnings daily I realize that the earnings graph doesn’t reflect the late tips.
The earnings for the late tips will be shown on the day that the ride was actually taken not on the same day you received the late tip… If that’s what you’re referring to… I am a stickler at numbers and I’ve never had one discrepancy when adding up anything with my Uber earnings

I never get tips and some riders tell me I'm gonna tip you or a Rider will tell me make a stop and I'll tip you and I never get tipped. I'm from Michigan
Yes they do here is the reason if you bought Trip insurance from Uber when you got tip they will take % from your tips that need to fix

I drive and deliver for Uber eats my vehicle isn’t a ride sharing service vehicle it’s a truck that’s seen better days but it does great for delivery and I would definitely participate in a class action lawsuit
Is uber stealing tips? We have to assume the answer is yes. Why? Because the can. It is EXTREMELY difficult for a driver to audit if they're paid correctly for the basics. Base fare, routine bonuses, toll reimbursements, etc. It is completely IMPOSSIBLE for a driver to audit if they were paid all their tips correctly.
The only way to find out is an independent forensic audit. The only way that's going to happen is a class action lawsuit that forces that audit and doesn't cave in when uber waves a settlement check at the lead law firm. Good luck at finding a law firm that doesn't cave in right there.
Understand in these large class action lawsuits, the interests of the law firm(s) and the plaintiffs aren't exactly aligned. When a settlement offer is on the table, the law firm(s) stand to take their 30%-40% (plus expenses) right then and there. If that only leave $4.82 for each driver in the class, do you think the attorney's care about that?
Assume? Uber and Lyft lost the lawsuit in NY and that was the largest wage theft the court ever had. You can see the news in ABC7.... just put the keyword see it yourself. Keyword: "abc7 uber wage theft"

(B) How much was the total settlement?
(C) Of that, how much did the lawyers take?
(D) It "settled" before getting far enough into discovery to force a proper audit, didn't it? So the true numbers are still unknown.
Regardless, when a class action suit "settles" the lawyers ALWAYS get paid first. Off the top. 30%-40% plus re-imbursement of expenses.
The plaintiffs, sure, whatever is leftover, divide among them (less a "small" administrative processing fee).
It always in the lawyer's interest to "settle" a big class action case. Which may or may not also be in the plaintiff's interest.
ubers system is slow to tip. its not always instant as you described. as a driver, i have seen tips come in quickly, and sometimes not but i also do not know if someone is tipping immediately or not.
fast forward to last thursday, and i took an uber to the airport. i sat with the driver for just over 5 min and tipped 7.50 to the driver, waited....waited...waited...never showed up on his end....unfortunately he did have another ride and he couldnt sit much longer, but i sure hope he got it.
not only are they stealing tips, Uber is short change California drivers on their Prop 22 times/distance. This is not an issue with Lyft, but Uber is misreporting (shaving) time/distance on the driver. Any California can keep tract by taking screen shot of when you accept trip and when you're finished with the trip for 2 weeks, you'll see a huge discrepancies between what Uber record and your records. If the oblivious California drivers did not opt out to the ridiculous arbitration letter years ago and continue to send email back to opt out notice with every update since then we're out of luck with any class action lawsuits and Uber had successfully scammed millions of us and using the law to make it almost impossible to held them accountable!
Remember any mileage or time that’s done from the time you accept the ride to pick them up does not count towards anything… The only thing that is counted is once you pick them up from that location to the destination this works the same same with the $.67 tax deduction on the mileage

what they've done to me is show me an offer at a certain amount....I'll accept it....then they actually pay me less when I get a $5 tip.
I’ve lost… You accept a ride that pays a certain amount of money you either get that amount of money or not.. It’s very easy to screenshot every offer you except so you always have that amount for your records to show in case there’s a discrepancy.

@@rebecca5303 i’m not sure what kind of phone you have but I have an iPhone and I have it set up or I can have the little logo on my screen and I hit it one time and it takes a screenshot so I don’t have to hit the two buttons on the side at the same time …that really helps a lot
Yes, there are times that I get offers while I’m driving… but very few to where it doesn’t really make a big difference
But unless I have somebody in the car, I’m not driving around. I’m usually parked somewhere so the majority of my offers I would say nine out of 10 of my offers that I look at come through while I’m sitting not driving.

We have to wonder why it takes time. Sometimes pax tip later, but I see many of my pax tipping me in their apps, but the tip lags. Why? Everything is pretty instant in the app. What makes a tip lag??

When Sergio is leaning soooo far as to just stopping shirt of claiming theft and you can't even make a statement saying yeah sometimes it is a very good chance it could have just been delayed in timing with data and transaction but I would more often than not all of these platforms inevitably end up at and that's the pit of unethical and Shady business practicing what else do you possibly need to make this type of or take this type of stance I'm just bewildered by how much more proof you need other than the Shaving the skimming the already proven and had to be paid back from court ordered mandates I don't know what else you need I don't know how you can't say even if this one did turn up to be just crossed in banking timing the message is clear and steady and backed up with many many many many many many many many many many many many many instances of proven theft and shity unethical business practices. This is exactly what happened to me last week. I saw the notification drop down but the tip was no where. it was right as i drove off from dropping at the airport. I went rounds with support and no help!! I searched my past rides all the way back 1 month and nothing. Thieves!!!
Everyone doing the Uber or lyft at 😢this points is clown including me. Again Uber and Lyft will never ever change. They’ll all in for profit making under our head. Put them out of business by quitting that’s the only way they’ll know drivers are serious. $3 per ride can’t even take the bus with it.
