I do not like driving for LYFT. LYFT advertises $8 bonus every ride everywhere. When you stop driving and notice your bonus has not been added. You contact LYFT to inquire about your bonus payment they act as though they cannot see the bonus on your account. They say you are outside the zone and bonus hour. No one would accept low balling rides with no bonus. I have been driving for over 6 hours and I haven't even made $100! This is poverty and I will be letting other drivers know about this!
No offense as this is not meant to be a negative response but the reason you feel that way is because you’re depending on Uber/Lyft too much When these companies started, they were never intended for people to use full-time and pay their bills/raise their family/buying houses … they were designed to use as extra work on the side to make some extra money or pick up a ride here and there when you were going to a certain location Start networking with your passengers and get involved and some other type of work that you can offer them while you were talking to them and also start asking if they take Uber frequently and try to see if those rides make sense to you to offer them private ride service Which pays 2 to 3 times more than what the Uber Ride will pay you Good luck out there
@@UberDriverChat Totally agree. Nobody is forcing anyone to do this work. If you feel like a slave, quit. I love driving for Lyft but note I am not depending on this for my full-time job. I do it to make extra money.
I drive for Lyft part-time for extra for extra money. I would never do this as strictly full-time employment. Customers can lie and literally get you deactivated. I've seen it happen on few occasions to drivers. The customer 's favorite lie is the driver was under the influence.
I quit uber about a year ago once I figured out that Uber was stealing my tips. Lyft ain't great either, I'm currently building a business that will get me out of this unprofitable driveshare scam permanently. I suggest you make a plan to actually have a life.
@@TheRealCalijokes01not in my city. I make $2,200 every week but drive for 12 hours 7 days a week. $8,800 monthly & I only spend 830-875 a month on gas. I think some cities are just over saturated because Lyft is great for me
I'm driving for both. Like you, I can't stand the constant trip radar requests, and the destination filter for going home is a joke. This morning, Uber said going 15 minutes in the wrong direction was on my way home! Lyft also has its issues. This morning, my rider was going from her hotel to a restaurant. It was a $5.75 trip. After we left the pickup spot, she added a second destination, the airport, which was in the opposite direction. So my ride distance and time DOUBLED, and Lyft did not adjust my fare at all. I complained multiple times via the app and kept getting the same responses. It was so infuriating. They finally got tired of me and gave me $5 as a "one time courtesy". lol... Bottom line, I've found Uber passengers tip more frequently, so that ends up being a bit more lucrative.
@@ricky4673 It depends o nthe area youdrive. Here, Lyft has about 80% of the business, and Uber doesn't even do upfront fees or show you the pax destination until after you pick the pax up.
Definitely! Uber riders tip and tip big on everyone of my rides and I've done over 4k rides in 6 months! Uber is a better program for what I am looking for.
I feel the pay is crap on both apps. I drive a luxury car and I used to count on getting maybe 1 or 2 Lux requests with Lyft. Those would boost my income for the day significantly. Then Lyft did away with the Lux option. Uber still offers Premier, which is similar to Lux. Now I'm always hoping for Premier requests, but they are few and far between. I am currently seeking another source of income. Driving rideshare is really not worth it. When you subtract your expenses out of your earnings it doesn't leave much. Factor in the wear and tear and depreciation on your car and you're probably in negative numbers. Now factor in the risks of an accident a breakdown, a traffic citation, it's just not a good way to make money.
I use Lyft more too. I like that most rides are closer to you than Uber trying to send you out for miles to the pick up. Uber’s trip radar is like a baby that won’t stop crying and I’m tired of being the baby sitter. I don’t know how they thought this was a good idea or how they get away with this feature legally
Worst part about lyft is that they force you to call in order to cancel AND that they block you from texting if you're going more than 5mph. I can't stand that feature.
I hate that too. You'd think by now they would have poked their heads out of the office to find out about speech to text features on smartphones, and do away with that annoyance. Also, the "LIMIT TAPS" warning is another pisser. Sometimes, I just need to unzoom the mapp so I can get a better idea of where the pax is going - because their mapping sux too - and the "Limit Taps" warning pops up repeatedly. It's more of a driving distraction than just letting me use the maps like I want to.
Yes Lyft pays per ride better than Uber, but. In my area at least one can't stay busy enough with just Lyft. It's one $10 lyft ride vs 3 or 4 $5 Uber rides
I agree I’m Lyft all day!! Huge improvements and a lot better money less nonsense still not perfect but they are definitely taking steps in the better direction.
I have an EV, and I usually start out the month doing exclusively Uber. At 200 rides, I get the $210 EV Bonus, then switch to Lyft for the rest of the month. If I will be taking a 1 or 2 week vacation or break during the month, I just exclusively do Lyft.
Thats my experience as well. Cheaper more problematic riders, no tips. Had 2 problem riders in one week, and I've not even done many Lyft rides. Over 2.5K rides with Uber and never had any problems. But I also drive daytime only.
@@btrcllballz No I noticed it on the pay breakdown. The ride request amount didn't match the actual pay for the ride. When I called them on it, they stopped doing it.
I also love how you can practically plan your mornings with all of the reservations offered to everyone. Uber is very secretive with their reservations & sometimes only offered to higher tier drivers
@@Dudeman4Jesus I've been wondering about that too. If a rider cancels on me while on Lyft, there is no notification or anything. I'll find out by looking at my GPS map and seeing that at some point they canceled without me ever being notified of it. Last time it happened I was on my way to pick up a reservation for a ride to the airport.
I drive for both and I hate that radar with a passion because I could sit there for a half an hour and 15 radar request come through and I hit them all and get none of them. That’s why I’ve started driving Uber lessand Lyft more.
That’s weird as I get the majority of the trip radar request that I accept… What is your acceptance rate/driver rating/cancellation rate by the way how to curiosity
@ is that right? So I am fully submitted and the problem here.😂 Actually, your way of thinking is your problem. As with most Uber drivers you feel that Uber is not treating you right and that you should be getting a lot more in return for what you were doing for them. You found a job that allows you log into an app and wait for a beep to see if you want the ride or not and to work whenever you want and whatever areas you want, wear whatever clothes you want pretty much, have all the flexibility that a normal job does not but you want all of the benefits like you work for the government😂 It’s pretty simple if you don’t like the job and you find no value in it then get out of your comfort zone and grab your balls and find something else and move on. I’ve been doing this for a few years and found a way to make it work for me as I suggest you should do as well. I am at the point now, where I do not care if Uber takes more money than they are taking already because I don’t use them as my main source of income. I use Uber as a way to connect with people so once I am talking to them I can let them know that I do private rides as well as offer other services and products that I get commissions on for referring people to. I only drive Uber 3 to 4 days a week for 12 to 14 hours each time and make a minimum of $1400 a week on the Uber app as well as another $700-$1000 a week in private rides from people I met through the Uber app as well as using my downtime in between rides cherry picking to run two other UA-cam channels that pay me at least $1000 a month and sometimes even $2000 a month extra. And you still will convince yourself that people like me are your problem. Good luck out there. I hope all those Uber strikes that people organize and lawsuits help you get what you feel you deserve.
@@richcherwalk6349 your perception is all wrong on this whole Uber gig. You are depending on it like it’s a real job and that is the wrong way to look at things. I use Uber as a tool to meet people so when I’m talking to them, I can let them know that I do private rides so they contact me in the future as well as other services and products I offer on the side that I commissions on. I make about $1200-$1400 a week on the Uber app, another $500-$700 a week in private rides as well as another $1500 a month I make on two other UA-cam channels I run. Think outside the box as you will only put yourself in the rat race thinking like everyone else . good luck out there.
Lyft offered me a 60% bonus from 7:00am - 8:00am today. It’s peak morning driving for me and I always get rides. Within that hour I got no requests because that 60% is passed onto the driver. No only is it bad but I lost money because no rides came in.
I always use Stay in Area. I stay in the suburbs but I set my radius at 10. Also, if my “Last Ride” is at the maximum miles (10) I change to “Head to Destination” with my home as the destination.
@@UberDriverChat As I’m retired and only drive weekdays, 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm and I try to make $20/hr. Most days I make it and some days it’s more like $15/hr.
I had a choice to choose some bonus money next week on Lyft. The general consensus with all my riders is eveyone prefers Lyft. Still just want to see the ratio change.
I’m on the beta tester and they’re now displaying approximate how much per mile is the trip. After you finish the ride, in the trip detail, it gives you both upfront and actual info of the cost per mile.
*Lyft is much more transparent. *Lyft is busier in my market(Tampa) *less instant cashout. *the $8 bonus hours per ride when they are offered. *longer offer time * Kick back when I don't get my 70%. The bad* *People are cheap on Lyft. Less tips. *Airport rides aren't as profitable, and the Lyft's version of trip radar at the airport pay is garbage and not as many as Uber. * I'll get more ride offers(trip radar) at the airport from Uber. I do give Lyft rides at rhe airport but not as much
Thanks Joe! I am also a Twin Cities driver like you and everything you said I concure 💯 But I don't multi platform. I have over 4,400 rides as a Lyft driver. And 5 for Uber 🤣
I agree. i drove for Uber For 3 years but I hardly ever use Uber anymore. I dont get upfront fares with Uber and when I do a trip the fare is very low. Also passengers are very unhappy with Uber so there are a lot more rides with Lyft. Where I'm at Uber trip may be once an hour.
geez, I drove through Dallas last night 6pm and Uber pinged me within 5 seconds of a decline trip....I declined them all so that meant my phone was blowing up with a new ping every 10 seconds along with the Trip Radar pings...I just turned it off till I was further into the suburbs...I really don't like my car smelling of drugs and alcohol with NO chance of tips.
Uber is better in my market in houston. Most riders use Uber than lyft. Uber riders tip big and more frequently and review their rides! Uber has more opportunity here in Houston especially since you can drive and still make 4k a month driving only at night! Lyft is stressful but once I figure out the platform maybe it won't be.
Must be a highly "depends on your market" thing. But lyft better than uber... uh, don't think so. They're both horrible. In my market (Tampa Bay, FL) lyft pay sucks donkey balls. As bad as uber is, lyft's pay offers run 20%-30% less than uber offers for similar time/miles. On those rare instances where you can stack several of lyft's bonuses... that just gets you back to about the same as uber's base pay. Yeah, sure, lyft's driver app has a couple quality of life features that are nicer for drivers. But you can't pay your rent or buy groceries with "nicer" app features.
Seriously I worked yesterday in Tampa made 43 bucks in 3 active hours the other two hours nothing totaled 5 external fees are just to high there base rate is as much or more it’s ridiculous I gave up they think it’s cool to screw drivers sooner or later theses companies are gonna crash and I can’t wait to see that.
I’ve noticed Lyft giving lots of, pretty much weekly, “ride challenges”. You’re given an option of three “tiers”, the more required rides the larger the monetary bonus. I pick one and then setup a “stay within area” filter. It allows me to complete the rides I need in a decent amount of time and even though the rides are relatively short I still make money and get a the bonus within the allotted amount of days. It adds up and I end the week always making my earnings goal.
I was using both in Tampa. I got too many entitled drivers from Uber and reported me to where my tier ranking plummeted so I quit in 2023 for lyft. Lyft has been horrible to where as of late, the payout and entitled drivers made my hob less fulfilling and as of this week, I quit Lyft for lack of rides and pay
Mostly not true… At least not here in N. Florida. Uber is horrific, but Lyft is even worse. When you set “stay in area,” the bonuses magically disappear. And I’m in one of the most popular and busiest tourist areas in the nation. Long trips routinely pay .40-.50 per mile. Those are undrivable. Short trips are just as bad. Turbo is useless unless it is >30%. And if it is high what do they do? THEY DON’T GIVE YOU ANY RIDES. This way it keeps you from doing Uber, which is their actual goal. When Turbo is high, (if you get a ping) the rides are long pickups and average out to about .70 per mile. Not even enough to cover the cost of ownership and operation of a vehicle. The “70% guarantee” is also bullshit… and you should know better. Yes, they have expenses… SO DO WE! So their expenses get paid first after deducting mystery fees, then we get 70% of what’s left? In what universe is that fair?? Please don’t shill for these monsters. I’ve been driving 9 years in various markets and both platforms suck. But Lyft is much worse than Uber in every way… making it just about undrivable.
REALLY GREAT VIDEO! I both agree and disagree with some points though. My experience multi-platforming is that UBER upfront fares can be better than Lyft. But the key is to accept only the rides that are worth it. UBER RESERVATIONS and airport rides can be significantly more. But at least in Los Angeles, the time to review an offer request on UBER is not 10 seconds… it is often 3 seconds and sometimes 2, meaning I go to accept and it disappear!!! (Providing no time to review an offer should be illegal… don’t they know that we’re often driving when a request comes in? Lyft is definitely better in that regard, but Lyft definitely changed the trip radar so now it brings up a confusing new screen with multiple rides and very fine print that’s hard to read. The old way was better because you could see the info on the main map for just the ride you were wanting to check out, etc. Also, without bonuses, my pay has gone from $35-$45/hr to $18 - $25 / hr… before expenses, meaning rideshare is no longer a profitable business for drivers. I keep trying to find ways to make up for the loss of bonuses, but only taking the higher paying rides often means I end up exhausted and hours away from home. The destination filters on UBER are completely useless. Both apps don’t care about driver fatigue. Lyft gives ZERO warnings about being kicked off the app nor any info of when you can start driving again. UBER is so much better in the regard. Also. both UBER & Lyft are no longer paying that much more, if anything, for comfort rides. It’s inexcusable that they don’t tell us about changes that affect our livelihood, treat us a slaves, etc. (They both say QUESTS and Ride Challenges are offered “periodically”, but that’s hard to fathom or believe… is my landlord going to allow me to pay the rent periodically?
This is so spot on and I am doing the exact same thing. Driving Lyft is much better than Uber now. Uber has no bonus or incentives for me to drive for them. Plus that having to wait that 7 minutes on Uber to cancel sucks.
I would have to agree with you on a lot of things you pointed out. I do in fact drive both Uber and Lyft. I don't drive Uber as much because the ride challenges that are sent to me are ridiculous. Like most of the challenges are for 30 rides for $5. And I notice there's barely any surge within my area. I tried to turn the app on for Uber;but the rides are priced far too low on Uber. So,I just keep the Uber app off completely. On Lyft,I noticed I'm getting paid a little more than what Uber is playing for the rides itself. I still see surge within my area and I'm also getting bonus and turbo to help earn a little more money. I do like the fact their trip radar on Lyft doesn't constantly beep at you how Uber does. I feel like Uber is becoming an app that's becoming very frustrating because of the annoying trip radar. And because they keep sending shitty pay rides at you.
I do both but, like you, I'm doing Lyft for all the reasons you stated PLUS Lyft still charges $0.85 to cash out and Uber started charging $1.25!!! Ummm, yeah, ok, whatever Uber! I'm strictly doing Lyft!!!
I agree with these reasons. More reasons I prefer lyft now is no acceptance rate or cancelation rate. My area is still busy enough that I usually will get another ride pretty quickly if I cancel. I have found that I can get 3 to 8 more rides in a day if I only wait for a rider for 2 to 3 minutes before I cancel the ride. Waiting the extra time for a low cancelation fee is not worth it to me, especially on a $4 to $5 ride. When I cancel after 2 to 3 minutes I almost always get a better paying ride within a minute or two. I make more by taking the loss on the time and distance I traveled to a rider that isn't ready then I would by losing the time waiting for them. Also it is in the worst sections in my area that the riders make me wait the longest. It is not safe for me to be park in these areas.
ahh - it all depends man. Some rich people are horrible but most are great. Some ghetto people are a problem but most of them are great. Same goes for kids. Some of the parents of rich kids clearly raised them correctly based on how they behave in a car. In fact, kids (high school and below - not college students) behave better than adults in my experience. lol I one time picked up these freshmen high school white girls and this one chick asked me "What"s my age?" I replied 26 at the time and she was shocked and said "You look like you are our age which is 14." - College students are the worst if they are drinking but not all of them.
In my area, Lyft has ruled for 7 years with about 80% of the business. Lyft now shows map layers (called Map Explorer) that show you wait times, recent ride demand, nearby drivers, and gas discounts. The nearby drivers layer shows up to 20 drivers, as opposed to seeing the maximum of 8 on the passenger app. Lyft does do the pop-up radar thing but it's only when there are very few rides out there, and usually only when you're using a destination filter. I have noticed that on rides with bonus features and/or percentage turbo 10%-40% by the hour, the ride base fees are adjusted so that the fees come out about the same as they would have on a normal ride. I think those are just gimmicks to get drivers to accept rides they would otherwise turn down. Uber in our area shows nothing but the driver pay per mile seems to be a bit higher. But I lave the Lyft app on while I'm heading to an Uber pickup, and if anything appealing comes through, I cancel the Uber fo the sure thing on the Lyft ride. I've sent this info to Uber but they really don't even want to do business here at all - so it falls upon deaf ears - go figure.
I get bombarded with trip radar, surprised it is legal. It usually goes off when I am on a 6 lane road going 75 and you have to fight just to change lanes. The pickups are like 10-20 miles away and then the ride is that much again but the offer is for less than one way of the trip. So I get like an $8 ride but I have to drive 12 miles to pick them up then another 10, for a 40 minute trip. No way I accept that stuff. Then I seem to get these blank offers with no information at all, it's like "here is a grab bag, we have no idea what is in there, go ahead and try, it's fun!"
Why can’t we just make a Rideshare Union? Or just pool a bunch of money together and start our own rideshare company for the American people that’s honest and fair with prices and payments.
That also depends on the market area. I am in the Kansas City area and I can honestly say that there is more traffic on Uber here than there is on Lyft
Yeah I only made $36k last year, 26k miles.. and still owed the IRS over $1,300.. avg american car avg's around 25mpg. (I have a hybrid that gets around 50mpg, but they cost more etc so lets just stick to the national avg for comparisons).. At 5$/gal, Thats about 5.2k a year on gas alone, add a set of tires and we're now up to around 6k in expenses, now you gotta factor in oil changes, fluids, car washes, all the extra dents and dings and scratches, depreciation.. (my corolla depreciated over 7K in one year, it was a new car and thats bound to happen the newer your car is).. but yeah, if your car cost more than $20-30k, you'll most likely be working for that car and nothing else. .. So on $36k a year, ur lucky to walk away with $25k of that.. avg rent is $1,900mth here, so thats 25k-$22.8k. I'd have walked away with $2,200 last year. (Obviously I couldnt afford an avg place here, so i rent a room for a pretty 'sweet deal'.. but I understand not every one has an awesome 'sweet deal'), so it seems like unless you're in a major major city, you're just going to be working for your car.
@@rogerwilco1777and you didnt get wc insurance, regular insurance, or car insurance or time off. Infact adding those real costs means your in the hole. They are duping people.
@@rogerwilco1777 You're playing the victim here but this doesn't add up. You averaged over $1.38 per mile for an entire work year? That suggests that you were highly selective with your rides, meaning your low wages are actually partially your own fault. 26000 miles also seems like a pretty low amount for a full time driver. Also how did you end up owing so much in taxes? Your mileage is equal to an $18000 tax deduction all on its own (assuming the current standard mileage rate). There is no way in hell you owed over $19000 in taxes on your Uber income.
@@nikidelvalle I agree with you… Most people don’t treat this as a business and anyone who owes money in taxes at the end of the year didn’t understand the first rule of thumb which is put $100-$200 a week away for any type of future expenses/repairs/taxes, etc…. even less in his situation as he was only driving part time I’ve been driving four days a week for the past two years and it makes perfect sense to me and I’m profiting $65,000 a year after grossing $80,000 and still have money in the bank that I put away every week
Wridz & Yride are the future of rideshare. They are both subscription models & you keep 100% of the fare. Uber/Lyft are dying, and it's only a matter of time
Here in the Chicago Land area Wridz want the drivers to recruit riders to their platform. Im thinking why do I need to pay for a monthly subscription when I can recruit the rider for myself and cut out the middle guy. Wridz do not advertise riders to join their platform. Its a pass for me.
I tried to use the stay in area but Corpus Christi Texas isn't that big so half the bubble 6:20 is in the water plus the 5 mile past bubble will still take you to dangerous areas. I also found that when using the destination area I don't get trips. Oh well.
Like how Lyft provides more information and seems to provide better bonuses in Atlanta than Uber. Will drive for who has best offers. Uber Quest starts at 60 rides for weekend. Lyft starts at like 30. Much easier for weekend driver.
My question is I’m sitting at the airport. I am down to , 1 - 5. In Q. But yet I’m getting a trip radar request inside the airport. How does that make sense to sit in queue but get a trip radar. The ride was $45…. John Wayne airport to State College Boulevard literally two minutes off the five freeway. Why would this while in queue show up as trip radar? How does this make sense?
Your experience, your opinion.. Neither service is exceptional in any way. With Lyft, there's virtually no customer service. And with Uber, customer service has been coached to handle situations in a way that will be of benefit to the organization alone.
@@michaelanderson8421 I’m with you on that as my numbers are very similar if not better at times here in the southern California area… Most drivers don’t have a strategy and end up just taking the crappy rides that come along and then complaining about them in the end Also, I believe that acceptance rate/driver rating/cancellation rate have a lot to do with the rides that come through as it only makes sense or why would they even have those statistics?
@@UberDriverChat If acceptance rate plays into your offers then how are you suppose to maximize profits by not accepting crappy rides? It would turn into a vicious circle...not accepting shitty rides turns into not getting hardly any good rides cause I decline the crappy rides giving you a low acceptance rate and therefore low acceptance leads to less good pings
@@Jason-mp6yj I understand where you’re coming from… I seem to do pretty well and my acceptance rate is 35%… Whereas some people have a 5% to 10% acceptance rate … what is yours by the way as well as your cancellation rate and driver rating if you don’t mind me asking
@@UberDriverChatI drive for Lyft and almost always use destination mode without really needing it so unless a ride is heading in the set direction, I get to see most of the available rides in my area which is where I cherry pick the most lucrative ones!
I am more relaxed with lyft because of the stay in area filter. Just wish lyft had more rides. Uber wants to pull me all over the place which builds the mileage up on your car. They slowly pull you away from your preferred area.
I just started mult-platforming again after Lyft kicked me off 4 years ago. I must admit that the Trip Radar and Reservation Requests on Uber are SUPER annoying. It's definitely good to have a backup just in case either one has issues.
I do Uber more because I can do rides, Eats, Shop+Pay, alcohol delivery. With Lyft and DD, it's only either rides or deliveries. It's nice to break it up. But I agree, Lyft gives you more bonuses. If I'm offline for two weeks, I'll have $300 for 10 rides. I haven't seen that with Uber at all. It surges a lot in our area, too, and the most odd times. I'm still sticking with Uber, its how I'm able to keep my rental
My experience is the same. I prefer Lyft for exactly the same reasons. Pretty much done with Uber though there is more work. I love the destination filters on Lyft. Uber’s destination filters are worse than useless.
To whom it may concern you can always turn down your volume on your phone, if Uber overrides that which happens because I've proven that Uber overrides that while you're manually holding down the volume button it will it will technologically override your physical control of the of the button and still increase the volume to maximum a for trip radar, turn off all sound notifications, and then when that gets override the next work around is to turn on do not disturb, everything will technologically work unless you authorize it, the only problem I find with that is if you're using the voice navigation that will no longer be able to be heard so once you have a ride going turn back on your do not disturb so you can hear the voice navigation and then you know turn it back and off accordingly, also use two phones
Better pay from Lyft must be entirely dependent upon market. In my market (OC, CA) I usually get a never-ending string of minimum paying, $2.40 rides on Friday and Saturday nights. I've been waking up at Oh Dark Thirty the past few days to compare morning prices since my school job will be ending in a couple weeks and Lyft *does* offer me way more airport runs to ONT/SNA/LAX/LGB. I think Uber is holding a grudge because my acceptance rate is so low (10%). I haven't even been offered an LAX run in over a year and it's been since October or so since I've been offered a reserved ride aside from any that are missed by whomever *DID* accept it.
Same in my area (McAllen, Texas). Uber doesn't even want to do business here. In 7 years, I've never even seen a streak bonus or received one of those elusive "pickup premiums" they try to entice us with by saying "likely". And because I can't see what Uber is offering, on long pickups, I leave the Lyft app on while I'm heading toward the Uber pax. If anything decent comes through on Lyft, I'll cancel the Uber and take the sure thing on Lyft. In this sense, Uber is making a big mistake by NOT listening to drivers.
I do Uber during the week Monday through Thursday. It’s more busy during the week. Lyft on the weekends Friday through Sunday better fares and more longer rides.
What do you do when a rider is being disrespectful and you ask the rider to exit your vehicle, then the rider make a report with a bunch of lies. I pay my bills with the platform. I’ve been driving for over 9yrs. I’m very polite I give rider a bottle of water. But sometimes you get riders that lie on their ride experience to have Uber give them refunds or vouchers for a future free ride. I thought about putting a camera in my car but decided against it bc I thought it would be too intrusive. Out of 10 rides I normally get tips from 6 ppl so that tells me I’m doing something right. But that (1) person can cost you your livelihood. Smh
Great video. I would push back a little bit. Whether Uber or Lyft is better with pay is market specific. Yes some of the Lyft tools are better. But in my market Lyft pay is straight trash. And don't accept their 70% after fees framing. Why? Because their "fees" trip to trip vary so much that it is meaningless.
I'm pretty new to all of this, about four months, but from what I've seen so far Lyft is definitely the superior platform. I really like their destination platform, and I also seem to get more riders tipping me. The 70% guarantee is terrific and I got my first one a week or two ago. However, unless I misunderstand it, tips are included in the computation of whether you reached 70% or not. If I'm reading it correctly I don't think that is fair, because tips are not a part of Lyft's fare but rather a gift to us from our passengers. That said, the guarantee is still superior to what the competition offers. I'll still use both because Uber has provided me with excellent reservation opportunities, and quite often with a follow up reservation that is close to the destination of the first reservation.
Question: Insurance.. If you can show proof that you have full coverage plus ride share coverage insurance are they going to still take out money -> Est.external Fees Est Commercial auto insurance & other expenses..
I use the area filter to completely avoid Southside of Chicago. Terrible passengers coming from there, and worst of all, completely unsafe. Completely avoid it
I hate that Uber is the dominant app in my market. I'm so fucking tired of fighting their app while driving, with the app constantly pulling up the bottom third when I haven't arrived yet. Uber also pretends pickups don't exist when pulling up your trip activity, making it impossible to track your active times. Their destination filter is also terrible, "toward my destination" can literally end with you only 0.1 miles closer to your destination. Uber keeps trying to screw over third party apps like Maxymo and Mystro. Uber forces me to wait 7 minutes before I can get my cancelation fee. I could go on and on, I hate Uber. I do both but my resentment for Uber continues to grow, but I have no choice because that's where the money is (especially from tips, Lyft passenger tips are downright mythological in my market).
I feel you on the Lyft tips... Why do I get tips on 80-90% of rides thru Uber, but l get tips less than 50% of the time thru Lyft. Coincidence? I can't prove that they are or aren't stealing tips, so I'm going to go with them stealing considering my tips thru Uber.
Brother, respectfully, I have to disagree with you. I don't know what city and state you are driving, but here in Texas, Lyft is horrible. Uber is much more lucrative than Lyft... Lyft’ charges the riders so much, and 80% of the time, we only get " drivers " 30%, and they'll keep 70%... This has been going for some time now.
I've done most of my driving for Uber but I like Lyft's platform better. The only thing that I don't like about Lyft is that it's not as busy as Uber. Maybe I'm starting my day too early. I'm in the car and ready to rock at 3am Monday- Friday. On weekends, I start around 5am
Our bonus with Lyft is only to increase our earnings so they don’t have to pay us the 70%. Our bonus is included in our earnings so we are not getting 70% of what the customer pays
Lyft driver could find my house and by the time he did the driver cancelled my trip and Lyft changed me 25 for the ride and 4.50 for the cancellation , my first time and last time with Lyft
Exactly. Picked someone up yesterday during rush hour and he was like, "Wow, the price jumped." I told him that the drivers don't get a piece of it, it's Uber taking advantage of the rush hour. Your being charged $20 but I'm getting $8. Pax was a former Uber driver, he wanted to get back into it, so I told him to rent a car from a local rental company that is connected to Uber. The trip to the rental is free, but he has to first book the rental through the app. If anything, he gets a car to get around, just work Uber to cover the rental
It’s simple… It’s called supplying demand… They will price the ride as the most possible that a passenger will pay and price the ride to the driver as to the lowest price he will take it for Pretty soon, people are going to be complaining that McDonald’s only pays a dollar to make the big Mac that they sell for six dollars😂
Couple of years ago a young lady falsely accused me of being racism because I refused to give her ride, she had a little baby with her and she didn’t have a car seat and refused to give her the ride. Unfortunately I didn’t have a dashcam to prove that she was lying. Is there any way that I can reactivate my Lyft account?
I remember a long time ago this idiot used to work for Lyft. I believe they have paid advertisers and influencers on all of these channels. A couple of these guys have been spouting off things that don’t match up with reality. Like the other guy that says you can make a fortune on these platforms and he’s jet setting around the world on two and three week vacations…
7:00am in Lasvegas for the third time in 3 weeks Lyft advertises %60 bonus time for rides and again like before I drove around the Lasvegas strip with put getting not one ride. And as soon as the bonus time ends I start getting rides . Is this happening to any one else. Think it's scrap just like their ads about us receiving %70 of passengers payments . I talk to my passengers and their is times Lyft charges $30 and I only get $9. The only time we get half is if they are only able to charge passengers $15 or less . If they charge more then that were lucky to get %30 .
I agree with you, Lyft gives me pick up location most likely not over 5 miles away. Lyft knows how to give us who is the closest and I feel like they give the trip for every driver equally. Uber give me over 10 miles all the time
I agree with all this. What annoys me most about Lyft though is viewing the rider profile. The fact that it alternates between be able to view the profile and only being able to cancel the ride after accepting the ride is infuriating. Am I missing something? It seems randomly timed too.
You have to be stopped. Once you start driving you can only cancel. Once you stop, like at a red light for more than 5 seconds it will then allow you to view the driver destination.
I like your rationale and will start trying to drive more exclusively with lyft. The thing is in my area uber has much more business it seems. They also offer more options to make money like Uber Teen, Uber Eats, Uber Priority, and in my case Uber Green, as well as they are bringing back Quests again. But overall I do like the features of the lyft app better. The app is more intuitive and I do like the radius filter. I also like the little pink Glow light they give you!!
The only problems are when one person uses the their Lyft app then 4 people jump in the vehicle. Each person over the age of 12 should be an additional fee of at least $1. Trunk usage: $1. Lyft has a lot of work to do on their driver app and there is no doubt about it.
Why doesn't lyft allow you to filter by ride type like Uber does?? (XL, Comfort, Premium etc). This is awful that lyft doesn't allow this but Uber does. Very useful
What do you think is better? Uber or Lyft in 2024?

I do not like driving for LYFT. LYFT advertises $8 bonus every ride everywhere. When you stop driving and notice your bonus has not been added. You contact LYFT to inquire about your bonus payment they act as though they cannot see the bonus on your account. They say you are outside the zone and bonus hour. No one would accept low balling rides with no bonus. I have been driving for over 6 hours and I haven't even made $100!
This is poverty and I will be letting other drivers know about this!
Uber is better
Lyft
???
Crazy I see no good rides on Lyft take one every now and then when it's really slow with Uber.
Shouldn't we all agree that, these days, NO RIDE should pay a driver less than $5.00?
Exactly
@@jamesdeberry3274 yes
$7 but that's just my opinion 😂😂😂
@@jamesdeberry3274 I say $10.

I totally agree with your assessment. But I am just pissed with both. Rideshare has turned into modern day slave work.
I would rather compare it to being a modern day serf
No offense as this is not meant to be a negative response but the reason you feel that way is because you’re depending on Uber/Lyft too much
When these companies started, they were never intended for people to use full-time and pay their bills/raise their family/buying houses … they were designed to use as extra work on the side to make some extra money or pick up a ride here and there when you were going to a certain location
Start networking with your passengers and get involved and some other type of work that you can offer them while you were talking to them and also start asking if they take Uber frequently and try to see if those rides make sense to you to offer them private ride service Which pays 2 to 3 times more than what the Uber Ride will pay you
Good luck out there
Absolutely 💯
Lyft steal tips as well

You are gorgeous 😏🌹
@@edwindennis6335Same. But question…how long have you been driving with Lyft making that kind of money?
People use lyft after they were kicked. Thats why Uber has more tips.
Done 7300 rides in 1.5 years on Uber. Now switching to Lyft.
Literally put a piece of tape over your speaker preferably duct tape It will muffet over 90%
Worst part about lyft is that they force you to call in order to cancel AND that they block you from texting if you're going more than 5mph.

I agree with your assessments. I much prefer Lyft but they are just not as busy as Uber so I continue to multi-platform
I tried your link for solo, but the link didn’t work. Lmk if there is a referral code I should use
Yes Lyft pays per ride better than Uber, but. In my area at least one can't stay busy enough with just Lyft. It's one $10 lyft ride vs 3 or 4 $5 Uber rides
Spot on! I have to work 4 to 5 gig apps to keep busy. Lyft still goes by a Rate Card in Upstate NY
In Denver, Uber usually pays better than Lyft. Tips are also much higher with Uber customers. Lyft destination filter works much better than Uber.
Thats my experience as well. Cheaper more problematic riders, no tips. Had 2 problem riders in one week, and I've not even done many Lyft rides. Over 2.5K rides with Uber and never had any problems. But I also drive daytime only.
Working in Denver currently and can confirm
Neither are good, both are a scam
@@DivineMindsetConnections you probably drive at dumb times.
My biggest problem with Lyft is the way rides drop off after you accept them when you are completing a ride.
yeah, I hate that... :(
@@Dudeman4Jesus I've been wondering about that too. If a rider cancels on me while on Lyft, there is no notification or anything. @@UberDriverChatyou’ve fully submitted, you’re the reason why it keeps getting worse
@ is that right? So I am fully submitted and the problem here.😂
Actually, your way of thinking is your problem.
As with most Uber drivers you feel that Uber is not treating you right and that you should be getting a lot more in return for what you were doing for them.
You found a job that allows you log into an app and wait for a beep to see if you want the ride or not and to work whenever you want and whatever areas you want, wear whatever clothes you want pretty much, have all the flexibility that a normal job does not but you want all of the benefits like you work for the government😂
It’s pretty simple if you don’t like the job and you find no value in it then get out of your comfort zone and grab your balls and find something else and move on.
That seems like a good idea… By the way how much are you averaging per hour that you actually are in the car…

I ❤️ LYFT!!!! THEY ALLOW YOU TO CONTINUE TO SEE PICK UP DROP OFF Information... I Love the 15 Seconds to choose the ride!!❤❤
I agree. i drove for Uber For 3 years but I hardly ever use Uber anymore.
I am not in Florida, but it seems every driver there is saying that it sucks!
@@Leco070what I'd your weekly earnings goal?
Thanks brother ! I’m a new Lyft driver , was wanting info on using filters .. thanks man
Oh I hope it is because only Lyft allows Cybertruck and I don't want to drive my wife's model 3 anymore lol
Great video thanks for the information
I also like that Lyft gives you the passengers history. How many trips they’ve taken etc
This is so spot on and I am doing the exact same thing. Driving Lyft is much better than Uber now. Uber has no bonus or incentives for me to drive for them. Plus that having to wait that 7 minutes on Uber to cancel sucks.
Thank you, Sir. This information was very informative & helpful. Have a beautiful day.
GREAT VIDEO!!!! I agree with everything you said.
I’m almost exclusively Lyft now
I do both but, like you, I'm doing Lyft for all the reasons you stated PLUS Lyft still charges $0.85 to cash out and Uber started charging $1.25!!! Ummm, yeah, ok, whatever Uber! I'm strictly doing Lyft!!!
Uber stopped paying the long distance pickup about 2 years ago. Uber used to have a long distance pickup fee for over 10 minutes.
When it's busy, I never wait for the cancellation fee. It makes more sense to cancel after 2-3 minutes. Especially when you're in a bonus zone.
ahh - it all depends man.
❤👍🏿🫶🏿good video and information 👌🏿 thank you bro!!
Lyft shows what the passenger paid after completing the ride. That's a big plus!
Where
How can you see this information? I do not see it on the app.
That’s everywhere as Lyft hardly has the market share that Uber has
Driving for both of them does not make sense when you look at maintenance, gas , etc... im glad i quit driving 2 years ago, and counting...😂
@@nikidelvalle I agree with you… Most people don’t treat this as a business and anyone who owes money in taxes at the end of the year didn’t understand the first rule of thumb which is put $100-$200 a week away for any type of future expenses/repairs/taxes, etc…. even less in his situation as he was only driving part time
I’ve been driving four days a week for the past two years and it makes perfect sense to me and I’m profiting $65,000 a year after grossing $80,000 and still have money in the bank that I put away every week
Congrats , you did the right choice. I'm doing the same looking a new job quick as possible
I started with lyft 3 years ago and they always show where I'm going Uber unless your gold will not show you any type of info on where your going
I like lyft they tell you where you going uber you have to be gold
Wridz & Yride are the future of rideshare. They are both subscription models & you keep 100% of the fare. Uber/Lyft are dying, and it's only a matter of time
Wridz is now in Houston.
Here in SF they have two huge automated rideshare companies. I’m sure it’s only a matter of time ..
Here in the Chicago Land area Wridz want the drivers to recruit riders to their platform. Im thinking why do I need to pay for a monthly subscription when I can recruit the rider for myself and cut out the middle guy. Wridz do not advertise riders to join their platform. Its a pass for me.
What is the solo app?
I couldn’t disagree with you more about driving for Lyft … I will never drive for Uber 🤦♂️
Happened to me. They know that people get tired of waiting for an airport trip. Over saturated
Your experience, your opinion.. Neither service is exceptional in any way. With Lyft, there's virtually no customer service. And with Uber, customer service has been coached to handle situations in a way that will be of benefit to the organization alone.
None is better. both companies pay Slavish to drivers. its 2024 not 2004.
I make $25 to $42 an hour every day, averaging $30. Today I drove for 4 hours and made $142.80. And that was before peak hours.
@@michaelanderson8421 I’m with you on that as my numbers are very similar if not better at times here in the southern California area… Most drivers don’t have a strategy and end up just taking the crappy rides that come along and then complaining about them in the end
Also, I believe that acceptance rate/driver rating/cancellation rate have a lot to do with the rides that come through as it only makes sense or why would they even have those statistics?
Uber- McDonalds Lyft - Chik-Fila
I’m starting to notice the exact same thing and driving more on Lyft more than ever.
Hi.. how much per km in your country?
Thanks 🎉
What is your market area?
My experience is the same. I prefer Lyft for exactly the same reasons. Pretty much done with Uber though there is more work. I love the destination filters on Lyft. Uber’s destination filters are worse than useless.
Can you stay in certain areas with Lyft?uber doesn’t have area preferences in my state ( Maryland)
@@djallen16yes Yu can do Miles / area Yu want to drive on Lyft

I keep cash just for tipping 😉 extra tip per passenger /pick up time& area/distance to destination 🤑 4.95 rating/500 rides
I use Lyft only since Uber in my market doesn't show how much ill get paid for the ride and Lyft shows me all the information upfront.
Tips are not included in the calculation.
The fine print gotcha is that it isn't a true or reliable 70%.
My experience is the estimates is 27-38%
Question: Insurance.. If you can show proof that you have full coverage plus ride share coverage insurance are they going to still take out money -> Est.external Fees
Est Commercial auto insurance & other expenses..
That is a GREAT question. Too bad no one answered lol
The answer is yes. They will still take that money out.
Same, Uber is the dominant app in my market, Plus, I can do more on Uber. Eats, Shops & Rides
Uber is the dominant app in all markets
@UberDriverChat No it isn't. There are many Lyft dominated markets, such as Portland.
@@nikidelvalle Lyft does not dominate the Portland rideshare market. Uber does more rides in that area than Lyft

I prefer Lyft, but I get more offers through Uber. I also try to hit $1/ mile.
That’s the way to do it
I've done most of my driving for Uber but I like Lyft's platform better. The only thing that I don't like about Lyft is that it's not as busy as Uber. Maybe I'm starting my day too early. I'm in the car and ready to rock at 3am Monday- Friday. On weekends, I start around 5am
I noticed when Lyft came out with the 70 to 30 my pays been smaller
Our bonus with Lyft is only to increase our earnings so they don’t have to pay us the 70%. Our bonus is included in our earnings so we are not getting 70% of what the customer pays
I agree I prefer lyft over uber
THANK YOU FOR SHARING I ENJOYED YOUR VIDEO ❤ 👍
Lyft driver could find my house and by the time he did the driver cancelled my trip and Lyft changed me 25 for the ride and 4.50 for the cancellation , my first time and last time with Lyft
Uber charges surge price, but suppresses the surge on our maps.
It’s simple… It’s called supplying demand… They will price the ride as the most possible that a passenger will pay and price the ride to the driver as to the lowest price he will take it for
Pretty soon, people are going to be complaining that McDonald’s only pays a dollar to make the big Mac that they sell for six dollars😂
NO. IT IS FINAL. Go flip hamburger, you'll make more money
Thank you!🙏🏻
I agree with you, Lyft gives me pick up location most likely not over 5 miles away. Lyft knows how to give us who is the closest and I feel like they give the trip for every driver equally. Uber give me over 10 miles all the time
Thank you ❤❤
I agree with all this.
@@BoondockE.V. that's what I thought but I feel like I can view it sometimes while driving too

Very useful
