Love this video. You have a beautiful soft voice and obviously are a great teacher. This is for myself. Exactly as you described I am switching from using extensions (soft gel) to short natural nails. I especially love the information about capping with the bade gel. I was doing every layer and would have to file to fix it. Thank you from a new subscriber. 😍

Thanks for this! If you're taking topic ideas, I would love to see a video on design considerations for smaller nails.
I have small nail beds and I can't go much longer than 1/4" past my fingertip. (Typing is a big part of my job, and the impact makes my nail beds hurt when I wear them longer.)
If you think it would be a good fit for your audience, I would love to hear more about how you approach designing nail art and proportioning French tips and free edge shapes when working on smaller and/or shorter nails, as well as any practical suggestions for working on smaller "canvases".

Thank you Paola, this is so helpful! I was wondering if you could make a video on how to even out nails that are very dented and ridged and bumpy and deformed due to cuticle picking? My next door neighbor started picking at her cuticles during COVID from stress, and now the bottom half of each nail grows in a way I’ve never even seen before. There are pretty extreme bumps and unevenness, and she’s asked me to do a gel overlay on her to even it out in order to help her stop her picking habit, but: 1) I don’t know how to prep the super bumpy nails bc if I buffer/file I would only reach the parts that are high up and miss the dips; and 2) her cuticles are sooooo raw and sensitive and thick, I don’t know how to prep that either. Nothing is bleeding or open, the skin is just clearly kind of traumatized.

Do not DIY gel nails w/o any training. There are so many factors that can be ignored which can lead to an allergy.
Brands matter, including their curing unit.
Also by the time you buy professional grade formulas and the designated curing unit, you should be somewhere at a $400 spend. On the very LOW end.
Anything cheaper than this and I would be weary.
If you’re interested, my application course MGN can help, and I make myself to students for further questions and support.
      paolaponcenails.com/mgn/
Otherwise, nail lacquer and reusable press-ons are the way to go for DIY.
