So i accidentally bought builder gel because i liked the colors. I had no idea how to use it. I've learned a foolproof method and my nails are about the same length 😌 this is exactly what I wanted. Thanks so much!
I know this is an older video but I wanted to thank you so much! I am studying through Beauty Courses Online and this makes so much more sense to me, thank you for sharing
Love this video. I'm really struggling with builder gel technique and your video is showing a brilliant alternative. I'm going to try this out this weekend x
Hi I'm still learning doing nails I'm now busy with hard building gel can you please do a video of short almond or short coffin with a tip and building gel please 🙌💐🤗🙌🙌
So nice to see that not everyone goes side to side. I have a fibre gel which is so hard to work with and doesn’t self level well. This builder looks effortless. If it’s anything like xgel it’ll be amazing
Yes, think of the first layer as the foundation of your enhancement. This is the layer that’s going to determine retention, as a result you want to ensure it’s thin, so that the gel can get into all the etches you have made. In addition its important to remember that gels can only cure to a certain thickness so it’s better to have multiple thinner layers rather than one super thick layer 😃
Which method is the best for long lasting builder gel, to first apply the builder gel then apply gel colour? or to apply the gel colour first ten seal with the builder gel ? please help i’m trying to get my overlays to last 3 to 4 weeks on my clients
Hey! Nope just straight on with gel, the builder essentially acts as the base coat. We would always buff off the shine with a 180 buffer to ensure max retention x
We tend not too if there is no refining needed. If you do need to refine then yes we would and buff over to give the gel polish something to stick too.
Can I ask why you cure the slip layer? I'm taking a course right now and after googling, they say not to cure after the slip layer but to continue and putting the builder gel
I see you didn’t use a dehydrator then a primer. 😮 first video I’ve seen that didn’t I say that because I’m wondering if after I have filed of the dehydrator is a waste per my gel peels even after correct prep. 😢
Is it possible to have in the description the list of the products, including the nail filers? My ear is bad for accents, so i am here listening for the fith time and I don’t understand what is you are saying about the first pink layer… after the primer. Great video otherwise… oh yeah also, what is the name of the rotation tool?
Hey! Of course. The first layer is our base layer, good application is needed her to start a good foundation. Then a slip layer that helps guide the next layer - then your builder (thicker) layer. We use the Lucy Pastorelli eFile for the prep, you can use code NAILORDER for some money off on her site. We use a variety of eFile bits in the prep, it really depends on how you have been trained. Then use a 240 grit file and 180 buffer to refine at the end. I hope this helps.
Hi, I am a beginner nail tech. I wanted to ask what builder gel is actually used for. I do gel overlay with tips but my tips always break in the middle. Can I build my apex with the builder gel and apply the gel on top for a better result?
Hi 👋 yes, builder gel can be used to create an apex which reinforces the strength of the nail. You would build an apex with builder gel then apply your gel polish over the top. We have another builder video coming this week 😉. Have you tried full cover soft gels? They are fantastic, much faster option to creating an overlay with tips?
@@nailorder I recently tried full cover gel tips and they started popping off after 2 days. I watched dozens of videos on how to keep them from coming off. Do you have any advice?
The natural nail hasn’t been prep’d properly. We recommend using a 150 or 180 file to “rough up” the natural nails then apply your tips. No other steps, like wiping with IPA etc as this can affect adhesion. Just a dust with a brush if you have one. Let us know how you get on xx
My builder gel will still sticky even after 3 minutes cure! I don’t know what is wrong 😢 I bought a uv/led lamp with strong watts (70!!) but i still not get hard gel that i can buffer then applied my nail polish 😢😢
This might be the inhibition layer. After they are cured and cooled (30secs after the lamp finishes) give it a wipe over with Isopropyl Alcohol. Let us know if this makes a difference x
I had my nails done a couple of days ago (I do SNS but am researching builder gel for the future), and the mail tech burnt my nail with the drill. I wasn’t paying attention and it gave me a fright so I jumped - natural reflex right? - she got so angry and me and stormed off and someone else came and finished my nails instead. I was so cranky afterwards! Getting my nails done is my me time
In this video we used... An eFile and bits from lpnails.com (use code NAILORDER for some money off) Everything else was from our website. Files and buffers and an unreleased Angel was used for this. Angel is our version of a builder gel. www.nailorderpro.com

Glad I could help!
i've watched soooo many builder gel videos to try and learn to do myself and this video makes the most sense to me. i love this.
Always take care when doing Builder on yourself x
Your client has beautiful hands and nails🙂And you are an amazing teacher
Thank you so much! I really appreciate your feedback 😍
Your method is the best way to apply builder gel 👍 I used your method and it turned out very neat & clean.
Awe amazing, so glad to here this xx
I need that soundtrack in the background while I am working on my nails ! great video
You and me both!
I know this is an older video but I wanted to thank you so much! I am studying through Beauty Courses Online and this makes so much more sense to me, thank you for sharing
You are so welcome! Glad we can help a little!!
This was so relaxing to watch! Great application
Glad you enjoyed it! 💕💕
This was an excellent tutorial! Liked the calming music too. Thank you!

I want to grow my nails and this video actually helped more than I expected. 😌
Amazing! Let us know how you get on xx
Def the best method I’ve seen so far. I literally hate the side to side method it ends up lumpy for me
Let us know how you get on x
Excellent tutorial. ❤ your process with the liner brush,
Thank you so much!
Hello do you buff the builder gel before you put topcoat ? Or if u wanna add another gel polish?
Hey@@hgw6527 Yes, we would buff the top of the builder, maybe even refine some parts before top coat or colour coat.
This is so helpful. I’m getting ready to try my new builder gel to see if I can grow my nails better. Thank you!!
Glad it was helpful!
Try Dazzle Dry 💯
Will it hold if you haven't used base gel to hold it
Hi I'm still learning doing nails I'm now busy with hard building gel can you please do a video of short almond or short coffin with a tip and building gel please 🙌💐🤗🙌🙌
Hey, thanks for the suggestion. We will get on it x
@@nailorder thank you 🤗💐your videos help me a lot
Thank you this has been really helpful. I will try this method today ❤️
Wonderful! Let us know how you get on.
How do you remove the builder gel? What about when you are using tips? Love the color!
Hey @tammyg2631 Builder is soaked off in acetone.
So nice to see that not everyone goes side to side. I have a fibre gel which is so hard to work with and doesn’t self level well. This builder looks effortless. If it’s anything like xgel it’ll be amazing
Thanks so much! Maybe even better than Xgel 👀🤨
@@nailorder omg if it’s even better I might have to treat myself to one 😂
is it necessary to cure the base/first thin layer of builder gel? What difference does it make? Great video btw!

Amazing. So glad it helped and we have a 2024 update coming this week!
Could you please send a list of the products you used for this video xx
Hi again, thank you for your reply but since you used an unreleased angel would i be able to buy it
Yes! This video is around a year old. You can find our Angel Builder Gel on our website.
Can the Xprep (2-in-1) be used as the primer prior to application or does it have to be the one used in the video?
Xprep is a wet primer, so personally I would prefer Xprime which drys almost instantly x
Which method is the best for long lasting builder gel, to first apply the builder gel then apply gel colour? or to apply the gel colour first ten seal with the builder gel ? please help i’m trying to get my overlays to last 3 to 4 weeks on my clients
Builder first then gel polish always 😇
Great video 🙂 can I ask what builder gel you used? Loved the colour. Many thanks
If i were to tell you, I'd have to kill you.... 🫢
Just watch this space 👀
Hi, wondering if I would then need to apply a base coat ontop of the biab layers before doing gel or if i can just go straight on with the gel colour
Hey! Nope just straight on with gel, the builder essentially acts as the base coat. We would always buff off the shine with a 180 buffer to ensure max retention x
Awesome way to explain
Thanks a lot Stephanie! We try to make it as easy as possible.
If you keep putting the nails under the lamp, will you run the risk of overbaking the ones you did first?
Hey! No, once they are cured, they are set. It’s not like putting pizza back in the oven, if you get what I mean?
Can this technique be done on bending nails that tend to be thin and bending more on one side of the nail, curling under as they grow?
Any gel like builder or hard gel will be beneficial to strengthen the nails. Just be sure to watch nail health underneath regularly x
Do you have to take the Tacker off before you go in with gel polish?
We tend not too if there is no refining needed. If you do need to refine then yes we would and buff over to give the gel polish something to stick too.
Can I ask why you cure the slip layer? I'm taking a course right now and after googling, they say not to cure after the slip layer but to continue and putting the builder gel
Hey, correct. So base layer and then cure, then slip layer and builder layer then cure. Hope this helps x
Beautiful ❤
Thank you! 😊
I see you didn’t use a dehydrator then a primer. 😮 first video I’ve seen that didn’t I say that because I’m wondering if after I have filed of the dehydrator is a waste per my gel peels even after correct prep. 😢
We never use dehydrator, it is terrible for prep. If the nail plate is dehydrated first, it will soak up moisture later and nails just pop off!
Thank you very much for this video
You are welcome 🥰🥰
Plus will this method work for any builder gel
It should be a great foundation for most builder gel application.
Is it possible to have in the description the list of the products, including the nail filers? What is the brand of builder gel you are using?
In this video we used Xgel, available on our website www.nailorderpro.com

When they pop off @@shansmith4242 is there adhesive gel left on the natural nail or on the tip itself?
@@nailorder The adhesive gel is on the tips when they pop off.

Can this technique be done on weak and bending nails?
Always asses the nail health before applying any products but for the most part yes, this can help to strengthen weak nails x
Hi guys has this colour builder gel been released yet? Ive had a look on website but unable to find it. Thank you xx
Not yet! But very soon xx
2/15/2024 ... How about now?? I'm still waiting to know the name of this color as well! 🥹
This was amazing. Anybody in San Francisco north bay who does this method?
Perfection
how do I remove the builder gel at home if I don't have a drill ? x
A nail file and some acetone and a bit of patience x
What was the primer u used plz, ty:)
We use our Xprime, available from nailorder.co.uk but if you have a non-acid primer already, that should work x

Wipe it with rubbing alcohol after you cure it
Could you please explain more on grit based on gel type??
Usually a hypoallergenic builder will require a lower grit file xx
Thank you
You're welcome
Can I use the builder gel polish to harden false nails
Hey! It can be used to add a strengthening layer, yeah x
What E file do you use
Right now, the Black eFile from Lucy Pastorelli. Best one I’ve ever tried 🖤🖤
I’ve yet to find a nail tech that doesn’t burn my nails using the dremal
Really? 😣 They might need to invest in some professional training.

I got a really bad infection when a tech ground through my nail. I wouldn't go near any salon now that uses the dremel
What speed do you use the cuticle bit and the sanding band at?
Cuticle bits are 10 and sanding band is 5. Thats using the Lucy Pastorelli eFile which goes up to 35,000rpm.
So why do some use rubber base? And you use the same color as a base 🤔 I don’t get it
Our Builder Gel doesn’t require a base coat, it has pretty good adhesive properties x
so the base coat is usually required then? @@nailorder
That there's a black handle on an xbase 👀👀
🙃👀
