Howdy Folks! I hope this finds you well! Today I'll be talking about why I think 2007 is one of the best years for gaming. I'd love to know your thoughts on this and which year you think should have this title. Wishing you all the best.
2004 is the best year in gaming. Halo 2. Half-Life 2. World of Warcraft. GTA San Andreas. Metal Gear Solid 3. Metroid Prime 2. Gran Turismo 4. Burnout 3 Takedown. NFS Underground 2. Unreal Tournament 2004. Doom 3. Fable. Star Wars Kotor 2. Far Cry. Counterstrike Source. That's just off the top of my head. Even sports games like Madden 2005 and ESPN 2K5 were peak of their series/genres.
Great choice! I have an affinity towards this year since I loved WoW and Half Life 2. What I didn’t love was having 6 discs to install the games ahahah. I can’t wait to review 2004, and again, great thought! Hope all is well
@@Dog.Dad.Studios Not if you had the DVD version ;) Loved the video and 2007 is also a fantastic year, it would probably be my number 2. 1998 is up there for me as well. Half-Life 1, Metal Gear Solid, Ocarina of Time came out within like a month of each other. There was also Resident Evil 2, Crash 3, Banjo-Kazooie, and Spyro 1. And 2001 might be the best year for one console in particular, the PS2 lineup that year was just filled with classic after classic.
@@nemesisny I love that there are so many lenses that we can view these years in. I truly appreciate you taking the time to write all this; it makes me so excited to start researching!
The year that forever changed the world is *1989* Here are only a few of the games released that year: Tetris, Indianapolis 500, SimCity, Super Mario Land, Prince of Persia, Dragon Ball 3, Mother, Castlevania III, DuckTales, Golden Axe, Batman, Minesweeper, Ninja Gaiden for Amiga, Flight Simulator 4, Final Fantasy Legend, Populous, Zelda, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Alleyway and BlockOut. And there are so many others across all platforms that it's impossible to list them all.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write all of this! So many games that I wouldn’t have thought of before 95! This is fantastic and you sharing this makes me extremely happy; I can feel how these games had a good effect. What were some of your favorites to play?
@@Dog.Dad.Studios I love nearly all of them but if I'd have to choose I'd say Super Mario Land (there's now a fan patch that adds color), Indianapolis 500 (even in 1989 on a 0.06 GHz 486 CPU the game ran at 70 FPS on a VGA without dropping a frame and gave a sense of true speed that's rare even in today's racing games), Populous and BlockOut that's an absolutely underrated gem IMHO. A bit of warning about BlockOut: if you run it on a real DOS PC (e.g. with FreeDOS), make sure to have UMBs disabled because the game is a bit buggy: it plays fine but DOS crashes when you exit.
The year 2007 was definitely a special year not only in gaming but in life for me. My son was 3 yo and I had just recently bought my first house and started a new job. I was fortunate enough to own the big three consoles and I played almost all the big games from that year. What I didn’t play, I would eventually play the following year or two later, but 2008 was also a great time for games. Bioshock is a standout for that year as it was really the first game, to me anyway, that made the setting as much a character as anything else. I loved Super Mario Galaxy, Uncharted, and Halo 3 of course. I think Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 came out that year as well, and I really enjoyed that too. I remember seeing Mass Effect at E3 that year being presented by Casey Hudson, and being blown away by it. I still remember sitting at my computer desk and preordering the limited edition 360 copy from GameStop. Fond memories indeed. Thanks for the great video man.
Thank you so much for sharing this. I truly appreciate the vivid picture I got reading this. Oh my god.. 2008. I just looked it up and had the reaction akin to opening up a box of Magic The Gathering Cards and getting nothing but insane legendary drops, it's beyond great. What was your favorite 2008 game? It might be the next year I cover in the series because honestly, its so much fun recalling all these amazing games and truly the fantastical growth of the industry. Remembering the significance with others and being able to talk about it, is truly a blessing. I hope this finds you and your son well, and again, I truly appreciate you taking the time to write all this and your kind words; they mean a lot. All the best, Dog Dad
@@Dog.Dad.Studios GTA 4, Bad Company 2, MGS 4, Gears 2, Fallout 3, Fable 2, Far Cry 2, Mirrors Edge. The list goes on. Lol. You should definitely do a video on 2008. Looking forward to it. 💯👊🏽
Oh yeah, Bad Company 2 was a time sink. Plus GTA 4 and Fallout 3.. jeez Fable 2 as well? You're right, the list goes on. Absolutely will be writing that script soon : ) All the best, Dog Dad
The wii was my family’s first real console outside of some plug-n-play games and an old game boy from my cousin. Gotta say, wii sports was particularly notable because it was one of the most responsive motion control games on the stock platform. You had to really wrestle with the controls at times for many other games whereas Wii sports kept it simple and clearly had much more time put into refining the control system since it was an in house product. Metroid Prime 3: Corruption was pretty sick on the Wii tho. You did feel like you were blasting space pirates with your very own arm cannon pointed at the screen.
Firstly, I appreciate you writing this. Thank you so much for taking the time! Wow, I felt your words come off the page (I tried to do the Samus pose in my chair and pretended to Charge Shot). What was your favorite sport to play? Hope all is well.
@@Dog.Dad.Studios I think there was always something so engaging with Wii tennis. That game had WAYYY too much time and effort put into its mechanics than was ever necessary. I’d imagine the creators of PONG would be proud👍
So when 2007 Christmas came I was 6 years old and my father and mom where seperated. But that year was the first year where I got 2 Christmas twice the amount of gift. My father gave me a xbox 360 and my mom a ps2. Has the year gone by I was invited to so many birthday party and everyone of them the family had the Wii. It felt so futuristic with the controller being control by your movements. I plead my mom for a wii so much I got one in 2010. There was a game that my mom wanted to try with my brother and me. Wii sport we got it once broke the cd, she bought it again. It is actually the only game my mom played with us. Funniest thing there is one game that my bro and I couldn’t beat her was the bowling. she just had a way with that wii remote. In fact that the only game my entire family played. My grandma and grandpa had never touch a damn video game in there entire life it was like everyone was playing a good game of card except we were swigging at the tv. I don’t they will ever be a game that will recapture that beauty of playing video game with my family.
This is beautiful. I cannot express my admiration not only for you sharing this with the community, but also for how vivid and detailed your writing is. I appreciate this so much, and I hope that this finds you and your family in good health. All the best, Dog Dad
StarCraft and Half Life 2? Both years are insane. I’m super excited to start writing the next script! There is no wrong opinion, or I haven’t found one yet. Gaming is truly a fascinating media! Hope all is well!
Halo 3 and CoD4 were awesome. Didn't Half Life 2 The Orange Box release in 2007 too? Miss great games like those now. 2001 is probably my favorite year. Halo CE, AVP2, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Red Faction, Operation Flashpoint Cold War Crisis, and Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon all released during that year. 1998 was great too. RE2, Tenchu Stealth Assassins, Thief The Dark Project, Metal Gear Solid, Half Life, etc.
Yeah! I talk about it briefly half way through. If I hadn’t played half life before I think I would’ve focused more on it, rather than it being a great deal for the time plus the games themselves. Ohh 2001 hits hard, and 98 I believe is StarCraft as well. I cannot wait to explore these years and do justice to them, or find out some years were atrocious ahaha. Hope all is well and wishing you the best. Dog Dad
@@Dog.Dad.Studios Reach, RDR, ME2, black ops, AC brotherhood, MGS peacewalker, Fallout NV, GoW 3. truly a great time to be gaming. 2007 is great too but IMO 2010 is king.
I dont know I associate this period in gaming with everything becoming like dumbed down Its also the beginning of video games getting real shiny for about 10 years

The wii sports game was awesome, at least as a kid that got a game or 2 per year since it felt you got a lot more games for the price of one and playing it with the family was fun as well (and yeah there where fights during and after matches lmao). Also i think Ace combat 6 came out in 07
Thank you so much for sharing Exe, I chuckled at the fights since I remember having to negotiate with Rock Band instruments that lead to those as well. I’ve heard of ace combat but never played them, did you like them?
