'Esmerelda' Animatic 1st Part (The Hunchback of Notre Dame Musical)

- This animatic was made well before the tragic fire that broke out on Notre Dame. I do not mean to be insensitive to such a sad event that shook the lives of millions of people, by posting it by the same month only one year after it occurred. I kindly ask that nobody make tasteless jokes in my comments section.
For the record, I'm still cautiously open-minded to see what Disney has in store for their upcoming remake of Hunchback (which, from what I heard, was originally predicted to be released by the end of next year). But since the musical is so great with incredibly epic and glorious songs added to the already-existing ones from the film, and because Disney said the upcoming remake says that the remake is probably not going to incorporate content from the musical, I imagine this is as close as we're going to get to seeing a filmed version of this song, apart from online recordings of various stage performances.
This video is not sponsored. This video was made for non-profit purposes, as I do not own the rights to the music or character designs. This was all a fan project made out of love for the animated film and the musical.

Holy hell this is amazing
Thank-you! Say, what was that recent video you just posted trying to recruit animations/animatics/images for this new 'Esmerelda' project you've got going?
@@jacobbelow yeah! It’s a Multi Animator Project! The script is in the description of the video
@@jacobbelow would you be interested in joining?
@@calxic_kelpie It certainly does pique my interest! Hopefully I can fit it into my schedule! Feel free to incorporate my animatic(s), or use it as inspiration as much as you please!
I enjoy watching the unfinished deleted songs on Disney DVDs, and your videos remind me of those. I've been spacing out watching your Hunchback videos to have something new to watch. I thought Frollo and Phoebus' relationship was interesting in the musical, when they are singing, so I liked seeing them in this one. Also their singing parts in "Rest and Recreation" and their lyrics when watching Esmeralda dance. The back-drop with Notre Dame in the background really makes this more epic.
Thanks! As it so happens, 'In a Place of Miracles' and 'Someday' are both deleted Disney songs (which you may or may not have already been aware of).
@@jacobbelow Yes, I was happy that the stage musical brought them back to life. I prefer the new lyrics to "Someday", and having it near the end instead of as a replacement for "God Help the Outcasts".
@@lowerstreetI agree, and while the American rendition of the song is beautiful, I personally like the first stage rendition from the 1999-2002 Berlin stage adaptation "Der Glöckner" that serves as the 11 o'clock number right before the climax. Here is what that version of the song sounds like: ua-cam.com/video/qLwb76AYgJE/v-deo.html
Parts like the one where Frollo goes around lighting everyone’s torches gives me some vibes of “Mob Song” and “Savages”, two of my favorite Disney Renaissance villain songs. Even when I was initially outlining my equivalent to this scene, the two songs came to my mind, and I included Frollo calling the Romani savages, in reference to the fictionalized Ratcliffe-made-villain in Pocahontas.
Also, I am not sure if the character saying those lines at 0:12 is meant to be a stand-in for Prosecutor Jacques Charmolue from the book or any random spokesman for the king, in the newer stage plays. But whoever he is, I think the sketch design fits well with the Disney aesthetic and I could see him being in the animated film. Speaking of the animated character designs, whenever I saw the guards wearing those particular helmets at 0:49 in the animated film, they always reminded me of Syndrome’s visor-wearing henchmen in The Incredibles.
Those are indeed some fantastic villain songs, and it's very easy to see the parallel between them and this song. And yeah, those soldier's helmets do give off a vibe similar to that of Syndrome's henchmen, don't they? Kind of gives them a menacing look, I think.
As for the man making the proclamation, when I drew it, I meant for it to be the king himself (and in hindsight, I feel it wasn't exactly my strongest decision). The I first watched the recording of the LaJolla Playhouse production, I took note of the part where Frollo consoles King Louis "the Prudent" for access to milital power to purge the city. When I started listening to the cast recording, the thought of it being Charmoule or another spokesman hadn't exactly crossed my mind. (And heck, the first couple of times I listened to it, I thought that was Patrick Page's voice doing the proclamation! XD)

The La Jolla edition of the musical has some grim reprise of Top Of The World from Quasimodo. I think I can place my idea here...
“Trapped from up here at the top of the world
Unable to go forth and save Esmeralda
(Turns over to the balcony as if he is calling to esmeralda) Do you know there is danger out there?
Danger has come to your world!”
This is amazing the artwork is amazing and it really makes a terrifying scene. Please don't tell Frollo or his guards you saw me.
I won't
@thescreamingelfwillcry Great
@thescreamingelfwillcry Unfortunately yes
@thescreamingelfwillcry Yes unfortunately he did
@thescreamingelfwillcry Frollo killed him 😥😢
Dang, you did THIS song too? Im a bit late to the party, but it still going strong.
There's nothing wrong with you discovering my content late in the game! I'm just happy to provide content that people will be happy to have discovered!
this needs more appreciation
I forgot the song Esmeralda isn't in the film because it's so good so thank you for bringing it to life!
Frollo's soliders remind of Stormtroopers for some reason.
Agreed
OMG THIS IS SOOO GOOD!!!!
My third favorite song from the musical 🔥🖤💜❤️😍🔥
