'Top of the World' Animatic (The Hunchback of Notre Dame Musical)

- Of all the 'Hunchback' animatics I've made, this one is admittedly my weakest. I had several technical problems with my computer while making this (as well as maybe a few drawings), which meant I had to take a few technical shortcuts here and there to save storage space, and it does unfortunately show in the final product. But I was still strongly motivated to make it because this song is one of my favorites in the musical, and I just feel at total peace whenever I listen to it. I hope that whoever sees this can appreciate it for what it does well (maybe even love it more than I do).
This video is not sponsored. This video is for non-profit purposes, as I do not own the rights to the music or the character designs. This was all a fan project made out of love for the animated film and the musical.

That was really good. It helped me to imagine what this song might have been like, if it had been in the animated movie!
lowerstreet it was suppose to be in the Disney movie but they had to cut it because of time, same with "Rhythm of the Tamborine, Made of Stone and Someday"
This is amazing! I would pay actual money to see the rest of the musical in this style! I'm not kidding!
When Disney does Hunchback of Notre Dame in live action I want the extended Bells of Notre Dame, Top of the World, and Made of Stone although I’ll also be more critical on it since it’s my favorite Disney movie of all time
Side note, I created all my animatics (including this one) three years ago, so the absence of the steeple and buttresses at 0:50 was just an oversight on my part amongst other backrounds I exhausted the details towards, and really had nothing to do with the fire dessimated that section of Notre Dame just last year.
I'm glad the gargoyles were part of this musical. I also saw Hugo, Victor, and Laverne.

As others have noted, you did quite well with the lighting. However, I believe more emphasis should have been given to the statues and gargoyles.

Part of me secretly wishes that some team of animators (or at least one individual on UA-cam with a lot of ambition and a lot of time on his hands) might see one of my animatics and be inspired to make it a fully-fledged animation, like that video of the "Be Prepared Reprise" from the Lion King Broadway.
That or else maybe Disney, should the animated movie eventually get like a signature edition, have an added animated segment set to one of the songs from the musical, like the case was with Beauty and the Beast's "Human Again".

@@jacobbelow No need to wait for a short animation to be made, as there was an announcement in January of 2019 that Disney was going to remake Hunchback into live action. I'm really hoping they use the new musical as their reference point.
@@joshsauer4725 I am aware of the announcement of the live-action remake, and I've been an adamant defender of the concept of it ever since, because I do think that HoND has had the most potential for a good one. They did say it was most likely going to draw reference from both the animated film and the novel but NOT the musical version, but I was hoping that they wouldn't entirely rule out the possibility of including some of the musical's strongest points-maybe some of the songs. I was still open to seeing what they might have to offer.
However, with the recent release of Mulan 2020 and how that movie was in hot water up to its eyeballs (from the terrible reviews of it, to the fact that it was sent straight-to-streaming, to all the controversies that had to do with the making of the film)...it has deterred my hope for the future of Disney remakes. I don't want to say that a remake of Hunchback is completely impossible at this point (especially because I know that Menken and Schwarz returning, and the involvement of Broadway legends like Josh Gad and David Henry Hwang), but given how the company has apparently just been green lighting them too often for the wrong reasons and there's just become too much controversy behind them to justify making *most of them, it just makes me question whether or not a remake of Hunchback will end up being worth it, if it still happens.
Like I said, I can think of several reasons why HoND has potential in the right hands (and that was largely what inspired me to make these animatics), but at this point, I don't know how much of a chance that has of happening.
