Fun fact about this. I saw Hadestown on March 8th 2020, and when Hades sang the line "Lover when you feel that fire, think of it as my desire" in the song Chant 1 I immediately thought of Frollo's main song Hellfire, as well as during the song Hey little songbird.

The HBoND is one of my favorite Disney animated movies and one of my favorite animated movies with the Prince of Egypt. I think it is underrated, so it makes me happy to know there still are projects about this masterpiece.
Now that Hamilton has been such a success for Disney+ and they’re apparently releasing a similar proshot of the West End production of Aladdin, I really hope they get the original cast of HOND together and do a proshot for Disney+. Even if it never went to Broadway, having a professionally filmed version would still be something
Josh Sauer Unfortunately its under the Disney name and Disney has a reputation for "family fun" than it does for "epic tear jerking opera", Disney doesn't know how to sell it as such, the Disney brand gets in the way of that (its why in the 80s they had to create Touchstone for a time, because they couldn't market mature films under the Disney name). If this weren't Disney, it would easily be the next Les Miserables
+Julianne Hannes ugh i hope it doesn't become the next les miz. No offense to Les Miz but that show is way too melodramaticand is plot-driven. The Hunchback musical on the other hand has too many undertones and the songs relies on character developments and motifs that couldn't be pulled off if it got Les Miz treatment. Seriously the only bad reviews Hunchback received is because it closely resembled Les Miz which is duh, it's written by Victor Hugo as well but anyway...
+Hezekiah Pabico perhaps what they meant was that it would be recognized for the great work that it is...like les mis is. Your opinion is your opinion, but I definately believe that hunchback deserves a place beside great works like les mis. Any work said to be in the same caliber should feel honored!
i love disney for making such a dark and serious film. They show it's not all about palaces and princesses and I loved it as a kid as much as i love it now. And everyone loves so much what they're doing in this video! Favourite disney movie ever, it's just gorgeous 💖
Katalyst but hey Notre Dame de Paris stuck even closer to the book! So if you liked this check out another really great musical because Garou is a fantastic Quasimodo.
@@keykiyoshi7443 Even though Notre Dame de Paris is much more faithful to the book, I prefer this one over that one, the soundtrack of this one is better, I mean Esmeralda beats Belle by a fuck ton
Any musical fan would. I mean, it's Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz. That's like meeting your favorite director and getting to talk shop with them while acting in their next film at the same time.
I pick this soundtrack any day over Frozen. Understandably Frozen's songs appeal to both kids and adults alike, but HOND's score and composition and choral arrangements raises goosebumps and the lyrics to Out There, Someday and God save the Outcasts written in 1996 are so relevant today that its not even funny.....
@@moonymonster Someday is actually on the original Disney film soundtrack, it's just sung during the credits by some R&B or Pop artist (depending on the language you're watching it).
Frozen is my favorite Disney movie second only to Beauty and the Beast.......but Hunchback is my favorite musical hands down. It's a masterpiece and you're right
I feel like HOND has a score that seems most ‘musical-like’, if that makes sense, which is why so many people were disappointed that this never made it to broadway. ‘Musical’ isn’t one genre, but I think that such a featured use of a choir and orchestra in HOND sets it apart from other Disney movies. It makes me think of its songs as both focusing on narrative and musical value instead of just using numbers as a mechanism to further the story and character development. Other Disney films have beautiful score, don’t get me wrong, but I feel like HOND really knocked it out of the park in terms of showcasing the characters as well as the accompaniment and orchestra.
I just love the voice of Frollo. It's such a deep voice, in the zone AND emotion. He's just conveying everything so well and it's kind of soothing while the lyrics of his songs and the character overall is so evil that it is scary that the voice is so calming
I'm so salty about this not being on Broadway-- yes, Disney has a less gritty reputation, and YES, it would cost so much to hire the entire choir, and equity stuff, and blah blah blah-- but this version is so unique-- it mixes the Disney movie with the book, it has humor, it has wit, it has loss and heartache, it has dark and sinister themes, but it also has that spirit of love and hope, and everything. Pair that with these actors, and you've got an amazing, beautiful piece of theatre. It deserves to be seen by everyone around the world. That finale gives me chills EVERY TIME. Add the Disney chorus with the traditional Latin singing-- it's life-changing. I have hope that it'll be back, though. Someday soon. :)
Oh yes... the finale!! The first time I heard it I got chills!! I wanted to let everyone know that this thing existed, which I only found out a couple of months ago, but then I found that it never got to Broadway and it's simply sad. The finale is so Les Mis!!
I need a 10 hour documentary about the music recording of this movie. I could watch and listen to this all day. My fav song is the bells of notre dame. The soundtrack is life ”because it is after all Allan Menken and Stephen Schwartz”
Just from hearing the cast album the show had the potential to be one of the greatest musicals of all time. It's a goddamn shame they're not doing it anymore.
+Hannah Harrelson At the time this would have transferred, Michael Arden was going to direct the Spring Awakening revival, Samantha Massell is now in the Fiddler revival, Andrew Samonsky is (was?) on the Nat'l Tour of Bridges of Madison County, Patrick Page was in the Spring Awakening revival, and there are probably more. Most of those contracts were probably signed before a decision to transfer would have been made, so even if Disney wanted to send it, they'd lose half their cast. There was also a lot of criticism that it strayed too far from the movie, which is disappointing because either Menken or Schwartz stated in a different interview that they purposely were trying to work more from the source material (the original novel), and that it had a distinctly darker tone than the animated movie...but people get stuck in a rut with old Disney movies and refuse to see anything other than a 1 for 1 copy.
"Someday" is definitely a song that tugs your heartstring. It conveys the laments of human's longing for the world to be better. The moment you hear the first note it instantly ticks you right at your heart.
The only thing he would dislike is how the musicals are popular in English rather than French, Because Hugo disliked the English and that he would never speak English claiming that England should learn French first, then he'll speak English
God it's just so beautiful! I mean, HOW did THIS not make Broadway??? This is the question I ask myself. Hopefully, it does one day because I missed the show while it was still around. Definitely getting the album though because once it does come back, I want to have learned all the new songs by heart! Love Hunchback of Notre Dame!
+N Rahman I thought so too, :( but even so, broadway or not, I bought the album, and it was beautiful! We can have our own broadway versions in our heads ^_~
its an absolute travesty that hunchback never went to broadway. this show is one of the most powerful ive ever seen, and the music really touches your soul both live and in the soundtrack.
I had the absolute privilege to have heard the full album. It has been one of the most emotional recording I've ever herd. It's haunting, dark, captivating, and let me tell that I've cried in more of one song (and Olim is the waterfall). Let me tell you this disney: you won't never regret to invest on this project and put it on a stage for the public. It's a masterpiece. It has the potential to be your best musical, it will really outshine Aladdin, the lion king and whatever other stuff you will do instead of this. Trust the fans and do the right thing
I love seeing voice actors doing their job. They move their hands and do many gestures, not because they are being filmed, but because they want to, or, maybe, helps them get in character.
I hope we get a live action musical that keeps the dark themes of the novel. Depressing as the ending was, I think parents and kids alike will benefit from positive, empowering messages of acceptance and tolerance.
As short as Heavens Light is, I feel like it deserves attention and admiration as well for how it portrays the dichotomy between his blossoming love for Esmeralda, which directly contrasts Frollo’s vengeful lust. Heavens Light is also a beautiful song about a man who had believed that he was too deformed to ever find true love, up until Esmeralda comes around and shows him kindness.
I can't even IMAGINE watching The Hunchback Of Notre Dame in theatres. Just imaging Hellfire playing on a gigantic screen, with surround sound booming the choir and Frollo`s voice ... god, it sends shivers down my spine.
You and me both :) it absolutely kills me that this isn't going to a Broadway, because without a doubt Michael would have gotten a Tony nomination for playing Quasimodo
Wow. This made me weep. I watched this in the movie format many times when I was a little girl. “The Bells of Notre Dame” is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. The lyrics haunt me and mean so much more as I have grown older. Thank you so much for this beautiful piece.
Nope. Ciara Renee's voice and vulnerability in Someday makes my eyes well up every single time I listen to it. The Finale leaves you emotionally numb and almost hopeless, but the message that it states makes you really really think about the world and the need to stand up for love and justice.
the high note that arden sing in esmerelda just breaks my heart and ive fallen in love with this musical thankyou michal arden The musical brings out the closet human emotions I relate to quasimodo and Esmeralda Michael Arden and Renee just pull my heartstrings it's utterly beautiful

I find myself always coming back to this video. This just feels like such a special musical. Everyone cared so deeply about their role in this production.
I was lucky enough to be cast in a production of this wonderful show, and I have never been so close to a cast, I have never been so attached to a show, and I have never been so moved by a show. It is truly one of the best shows out there, and I just can't believe how incredible the composers, lyricists, and writers are. Every single person that I talked to after a show was just in awe of how insanely breathtaking this show is. Moments during the show moved the audiences to cheer, scream, cry, and laugh, it touched everyone that viewed it. And I give full credit to the score and the script. (Side note; this is really hard to perform well. I mean wow, who saw that coming)
Its so sad to see such dedication, such beauty, and such passion just to have been forgotten for so long. Im glad that this is now a sort of cult classic because it needs this recognition
The fact that this isn't going to be on Broadway. The fact that I will not be able to see it in my city on tour. Royally PISSES me off. The has the potential the be THE greatest Disney Broadway show ever and they choose to go with Frozen... I love Frozen. But not for Broadway. This soundtrack is pure art and nothing can beat it. It's right up there with Beauty And The Beast for me. Maybe if I actually saw it it would surpass it? Hmm? But nooooooo
Problem is having a choir onstage every show would prove to be too costly for producers and for Equity. Frozen doesn't require a choir and say what you want about it, it was a musical original written and performed by Broadway vets. It's not a perfect show and not the best Disney movie by any means, but it's a huge success for Disney and it is going to do very well on Broadway.
It all depends on how greedy people are. If they expect at least as much pay as usual for a different show rather than modify their pay to account for the extra cost of putting on Hunchback, they could have done it. Also, the ticket prices can be increased especially with a press release on the reason why. There was no insoluble problem, just one that wasn't solved because of a minority of avaricious fools. In this day and age a visual recording of a single show could be sold repeatedly, globally, for another way to make it pay. Another variable that they had to work with was the length of the Broadway run.
Keldor D'Antrell no the union straight up wouldn’t let them take the full choir. It wasn’t a “oh the tickets will be X amount more” it was “oh we need to rework the score to compensate for lower numbers and we have to cut some of our beloved cast and friends”
I MAINTAIN that The Hunchback of Notre Dame is the BEST Disney movie of all time. The score is absolutely breathtaking and moving, the animation and gloriously detailed backgrounds are unparalleled, the villain is positively LOATHSOME, and the final message about true justice and triumph over hate and bigotry are even more important now than when the movie first came out. Thank you for coming to my run-on sentence of a TEDtalk.
When Disney inevitably does the live-action remake for Hunchback, here are the things we better see: 1. The original ending (I know it might be scarring for kids, but doing it in the stage production had a much more profound impact. I couldn't see it ending any other way.) 2. The added songs (Made of stone, in particular, has to be in the movie.) 3. Seeing the spirits of the gargoyles, religious statues, bells, etc. as Quasimodos imagination and hallucination (It would show how truly alone he feels and make Made of Stone even more impactful.) 4. Frollo's backstory and connection to Quasimodo (I feel the stage production added so much more dimension to the character by giving him a sympathetic background and making his internal struggle more complex than the original movie. I would also love it if they had Patrick Page reprise the role. He did such an excellent job on stage, and I would love to see it on film.) If Disney does not tick at least one of these boxes, I will not see the movie.
The soprano part at 5:33 is so beautifully written and amazingly sung... Everything so perfect: the melody, the choice of latin language, the voice, the articulation, and THAT emotional body rhythm and facial expression of the singer... Music at its best.
Anyone else bitter as hell they never did a professional stage recording of a show with the original cast? It sucks that I’ll never get to actually watch them perform this.
I found this version of the music through a stage production at La Jolla Playhouse, I’m pretty sure it’s the same cast. Sat through the entire play and was mystified throughout. If you haven’t already, do a UA-cam search for Hunchback Of Notre Dame La Jolla Playhouse. It’s two hours long but is amazing.
Had crazy chills 18 seconds in and by the end I was crying. Is there no chance at all of this going to Broadway at some point? And if there's a chance, can we keep this same cast? They were perfect.
I was a state too, in those first few seconds I thought "must buy this..." Then bought it.... Originally wanted the fave tracks but bought the whole album. Even the new tracks which I sometimes feel are "written because they had to be..." Are perfection and deserve their place among the originals! I see and understand Disneys argument against the cost of the cast but If this was "Out There" Box Office History would be rewritten!
I remember that I used to not like the Hunchback of Notre Dame but after hearing the cast recording for the musical, I am in love. Hellfire and Out There are my new favorites
+chompet123 It is playing at the Tuacahn outdoor theater in southern Utah this summer/fall. :) Tuacahn does an excellent job with its shows; I am going.
Okay but around 6:27 when the editing is cut with the brass hits and ends with the one dude opening his eyes, it didn't have to go as hard as it did and I love it

I'm so proud to see another great story from Victor Hugo live on stage with such talented people. I'm already a big fan of Les Misérables so this will be a must see for me. I wish we had this show in Paris someday. And Merci Alan Menken for putting into this wonderful music our most famous french novels.

My favorite soundtrack of all time. Makes it even more devastating after the burning of the cathedral. I was on the verge of tears for hours watching live footage of it burn
I'm an organist, and I was driving to a town 2 hours away to practice for a mini-recital a couple of weeks out, when I found out about the fire. Listened to CNN on the radio the rest of the way there and the whole way back, just numb to everything. I was able to change one piece on the program to pay homage (Boellmann's Priere a Notre Dame, beautiful piece). The next time I drove to the town again, I discovered I had some tracks from this cast recording with me and started tearing up as I sang along.
This soundtrack is amazing. I've always loved the movie soundtrack but this one they made for the one time run musical is just chefs kiss and gives me literal chills.

+Julianne Hannes exactly!! I mean why don't they just take out Les Mis and replace it with Hunchback??? It has the same feel and everything!
The song Esmeralda briefly reminds me of Lily's Eyes
i'm not saying corona happened because this never went to broadway, but the dots have connected themselves
Can't argue with that logic
🙏 amen
Sounds right
The only conspiracy I would believe
Makes sense
i love disney for making such a dark and serious film. They show it's not all about palaces and princesses and I loved it as a kid as much as i love it now. And everyone loves so much what they're doing in this video! Favourite disney movie ever, it's just gorgeous 💖
MaryKay they watered it down though. This version is way better than the Disney version. They stuck to the book more
Katalyst but hey Notre Dame de Paris stuck even closer to the book!
"It is Alan Menkien and Stephen Schwartz."
Patrick page totally fan girling
Any musical fan would. I mean, it's Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz. That's like meeting your favorite director and getting to talk shop with them while acting in their next film at the same time.
I pick this soundtrack any day over Frozen. Understandably Frozen's songs appeal to both kids and adults alike, but HOND's score and composition and choral arrangements raises goosebumps and the lyrics to Out There, Someday and God save the Outcasts written in 1996 are so relevant today that its not even funny.....
As a self-declared choir nerd, this score is a dream come true. The soundtrack is absolutely breathtaking; gives me goosebumps every time.
Someday was written for the musical, but yes
Ohanna Rose why the ohana guy always look evil 😓😓😓😓😓😓😓😂😱😂😭😭
I 100% agree. If im sad i listen to hunchback. Made in stone i play it every day.
Oh yes... the finale!!
WHAT ?! THEY'RE NOT DOING IT ANYMORE !??
I can absolutely listen to the soloist at 5:36 forever her voice is angelic
literally - for the rest of my life.
It always makes me think of the "voice from heaven" during the Autodafe in Verdi's Don Carlos.
THIS NEEDS TO OPEN ON BROADWAY!! WHY ISN'T IT?!?
+Hannah Harrelson Because Disney decided to go with Frozen as their next Broadway show.
+Big G Man The wicked shall not go unpunished...
it's to expensive to go to Broadway
+Hannah Harrelson I think it will hit Broadway some day, but Disney decided to take to Denmark first as they did with Aladdin
I did not know that Michael Arden had a voice like that. Holy cow. He’s been directing for so many years that I didn’t know he could sing like that.
He's amazing!
He is INCREDIBLE but he was unfortunately cursed with not fitting the typical leading man mold/look.
Oh my god the casts are crying.. They are the same as me
:)
tunmiki923 Same!
"Someday" is definitely a song that tugs your heartstring. It conveys the laments of human's longing for the world to be better. The moment you hear the first note it instantly ticks you right at your heart.
@@TheGirlInSneakers yes and the Spanish version by Luis Miguel is just as good.
ua-cam.com/video/OwbkIzrcZIE/v-deo.html
“Wake up the city and sound the alarm!” That note that Michael holds just...kills me. His voice is so crisp, and clear and SOLID. 🥰
Victor Hugo would be so proud to see Les Miserables and Hunchback of Notre Dame in live theater.
And to see their works have left such and impact that are both still adored and relevant classics, *centuries* later!
The only thing he would dislike is how the musicals are popular in English rather than French, Because Hugo disliked the English and that he would never speak English claiming that England should learn French first, then he'll speak English
@@TheKnowledgeMan101 Very true
I dunno about that. Have you read his books? I think he'd look at them and see a lack of cynicism that grounded his works
@@achanwahn yeah I’ve read all his books.
Patrick Page on stage: complete asshole, stinky old man, bad and evil
Patrick Page irl: precious cinnamon roll, must protect
Michael Arden is the most adorable human being ever. I love him and happy to have this cast recording.
Michael Arden ... that note on "Made of Stone" IM SPEECHLESS!!!! That technique!! OMG!!!
+Sasha S. If it went to Broadway, then Michael Arden wouldn't have been a part of Spring Awakening. And THAT probably wouldn't have gone to Broadway.
+Jordan Nickel-Dubin wait a minute is this not on broadway?!!! i thought the whole point of these clips is that it is on broadway? what!?
N Rahman It never came to Broadway.
+Sasha S. I wonder why it never made it past the preBroadway-run. I hope they fix it and give it a second chance.
Alicia Ballesteros-Mitchell gah just everything about the play touches my soul so much.
Trust the fans and do the right thing
ladyearin anyone with Spotify UA-cam or Apple Music can listen to the album. It’s not a privilege lmao
I love seeing voice actors doing their job. They move their hands and do many gestures, not because they are being filmed, but because they want to, or, maybe, helps them get in character.
this should be a live action movie by now
yeah! but I would like to see this entire cast playing in it!
Agreed!
I hope we get a live action musical that keeps the dark themes of the novel. Depressing as the ending was, I think parents and kids alike will benefit from positive, empowering messages of acceptance and tolerance.
I'd love to see a director take it up with the dark, pessimistic attitude Victor Hugo laced within the novel. Done right, it could be a masterpiece.
I think there is going to be one
This is Disney's prince of egypt. Their best period.
Both had Stephen Schwartz in it.
@@jandreidrnwe need him again
I'd say this is Disney's Les Miserables
Out There,Hellfire and God Help The Outcasts are three powerful songs
don't forget the finale act of act one; Esmeralda is beautiful and powerful as well !
I first saw it as a little girl when it came out but it was in the drive in. Huge imax screen would blow me away.
Made of Stone without a doubt is one of my favorite songs if not my favorite song in the score
You and me both :) it absolutely kills me that this isn't going to a Broadway, because without a doubt Michael would have gotten a Tony nomination for playing Quasimodo
Oh for sure! his voice is wonderful
The lyrics too. It's beautiful.
It adds a whole lot of dimension into Quasimodo and gives a significance to the gargoyles
zeldaglitchgamer same, the lyrics are breath taking.
Wow. This made me weep. I watched this in the movie format many times when I was a little girl. “The Bells of Notre Dame” is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. The lyrics haunt me and mean so much more as I have grown older. Thank you so much for this beautiful piece.
Cami Pritchard me too
Is it shameful that this version of 'Someday' and the Finale piece made me tear up? I'm still sobbing...
nope! Samantha, the soloist, is one of the reasons that the finale breaks my heart and the way everyone sings multi vocal is great!
Nope. Ciara Renee's voice and vulnerability in Someday makes my eyes well up every single time I listen to it. The Finale leaves you emotionally numb and almost hopeless, but the message that it states makes you really really think about the world and the need to stand up for love and justice.
I remember the first time I watched this, I became blubbering mess when Michael says "chose love over fear".
No shame at all. This whole musical is a work of beauty, and has the power to move us to our very core!
the high note that arden sing in esmerelda just breaks my heart and ive fallen in love with this musical thankyou michal arden
The musical brings out the closet human emotions I relate to quasimodo and Esmeralda Michael Arden and Renee just pull my heartstrings it's utterly beautiful
am I the only one who got chills at 3:21 ?
shweet sis I DID TOO AT THE EXACT SAME MOMENT
Arguably Disney’s masterpiece across their entire musical catalog
No I got chills too
Oh My God Yes!!
Perfect! I would've loved to watch the whole performance
I love Frollo’s voice actor. The effort they all put in it is so epic. I just wish we had Paul Kandel singing The Bells of Notre Dame with the last note
It can’t be helped, that’s a hard note to hit.
1:20 - 1:35 SLAYEDDDD MY ENTIRE EXSISTENCE!!!!! OMGGGGGGGGGGGG I NEED THIS SOUNDTRACK AND I NEED TO SEE THE SHOW!!!!
IT'S SO FUCKING BEAUTIFUL!!
I find myself always coming back to this video. This just feels like such a special musical. Everyone cared so deeply about their role in this production.
You can't imagine how much I love the "Esmerlada" song
A true Masterpiece. 💜
Its so sad to see such dedication, such beauty, and such passion just to have been forgotten for so long. Im glad that this is now a sort of cult classic because it needs this recognition
I still get CHILLS listening to the bells of notre dame
Kayla Dahl I agree!!!
When Disney inevitably does the live-action remake for Hunchback, here are the things we better see:
1. The original ending (I know it might be scarring for kids, but doing it in the stage production had a much more profound impact. I couldn't see it ending any other way.)
2. The added songs (Made of stone, in particular, has to be in the movie.)
3. Seeing the spirits of the gargoyles, religious statues, bells, etc. as Quasimodos imagination and hallucination (It would show how truly alone he feels and make Made of Stone even more impactful.)
4. Frollo's backstory and connection to Quasimodo (I feel the stage production added so much more dimension to the character by giving him a sympathetic background and making his internal struggle more complex than the original movie. I would also love it if they had Patrick Page reprise the role. He did such an excellent job on stage, and I would love to see it on film.)
If Disney does not tick at least one of these boxes, I will not see the movie.
Well, I heard that they are planning to have at least SOME of the elements from the book in the live-action remake, so ig we'll see what happens!
Made of Stone HAS to be in film
And Esmerelda and Someday ABSOLUTELY need to be in it. They're such breathtaking songs.
and rip out 'a guy like you' please
They're not so smart, they always fail in something.
The frollo voice's make me crazyyyyyy i love it
The soprano part at 5:33 is so beautifully written and amazingly sung... Everything so perfect: the melody, the choice of latin language, the voice, the articulation, and THAT emotional body rhythm and facial expression of the singer... Music at its best.
This seven minutes blasted my hair clean off. Can’t imagine what a live broadway performance would do, crush me to powder I guess. 👏🏼
Okay but how are they amazing singers AND attractive??? Like it's not fair
I agree with "Esmeralda"!! My heart opens every time I hear the music from this beautiful movie!! 😊❤
I remember that I used to not like the Hunchback of Notre Dame but after hearing the cast recording for the musical, I am in love. Hellfire and Out There are my new favorites
I keep rewinding to when “Phoebus” and “Quasi” are singing that one part in Esmerelda...you know which one I’m speaking of-and my heart! 😍😭
Dear Lord, please let me see this show. But I'm on the freaking other side of the globe.
***** What? What do u mean? Full details pls
+chompet123 It is playing at the Tuacahn outdoor theater in southern Utah this summer/fall. :) Tuacahn does an excellent job with its shows; I am going.
+chompet123 same ._.
it's here on youtube :)
I was twenty minutes away, when it was at Papermill. I didn't see it. Kicking myself.
Okay but around 6:27 when the editing is cut with the brass hits and ends with the one dude opening his eyes, it didn't have to go as hard as it did and I love it
I just got chills. I've viewed this numerous times. I still get chills!
Phoebus's long voice! Amazing!
(In Esmeralda)
I'm crying, this is perfection. Oh my god. We need this in broadway, WE NEED A LIVE ACTION MOVIE FOR THIS
When I was a little kid this movie scared me, when I grew up I fell in love with it, when I found this new broadway rendition I fell in love all over again. Honestly, one of my most favourite Disney films and soundtracks! This is amazing. I can listen to it over and over on my commute.
I'm so proud to see another great story from Victor Hugo live on stage with such talented people. I'm already a big fan of Les Misérables so this will be a must see for me. I wish we had this show in Paris someday. And Merci Alan Menken for putting into this wonderful music our most famous french novels.
wow the singers in this video, amazing
"Wake up the city and sound the alarm" gives me chills every time what is that note goddamn
Oh my gosh that gives me chills, it immediately reminds me of the fire, like spreading the word and the city turning to see it as alarms go up and the firefighters come...
It's like a more powerful, modern One Day More!
God, I am covered in goosebumps from head to toe after hearing that final note. This is absolutely spectacular. I MUST see this live if I get the chance.
Alan Menken's best score for a Disney film. Period.
Michael's note at 1:28 literally had me almost falling off my chair - I had to pause the video and gather my wits because it was too fucking incredible.
Ah, 2016, when Patrick Page was best known for being the best part of Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark. Glad that he’s finally getting the recognition that he deserves for both Hadestown and this, now that it’s building a pretty sizable cult folowing
Forget Broadway...let's put this on film!
Rusty McNeal Disney says they’ll make a live action film out of it soon like they did with Aladdin and beauty and the beast just now.
Agreed hubby wants a live action movie.
Does disney really have to butcher another one of their movies instead of creating something creative and new?
i know exactly who you are I would be excited except all the live-action adaptations have been trash this far 😂
Gilad Kay I understand where you are coming from but putting this version of Hunchback on film would be amazing! I would love to see this on the big screen. The original is great sure, but this is just beautiful!!
Hellfire is one of the most amazing pieces of art ever made
1:20 - 3:42 - Damn! I want to marry Michael Arden's powerful singing voice!
I've grown up with Hunchback and I must say a lot of people out there don't understand how much of a musical triumph it is. The story is so beautiful and the music is always there in my head that it's a part of my life and I thank the Disney company for their take on it and it's a show I will always treasure.
All their voices...are SO beautiful
Samantha Massell has one of the most beautiful voices I've ever heard
if i were a billionaire the first thing i would do is pay for this to be on broadway
I had this exact thought today
Omigosh, YESSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is Alan’s best score , no doubt !!
With the money available, this could be the next lion king on Broadway for Disney
there was already a musical stage adaptation of this film
Jack the critic I know.. I was talking about them bringing this to broadway.
Jack the critic That ruined Court of Miracles song.
Luis Flores its too niche for broadway
Or the next Les Miserables
One of the best musicals I've ever seen
This soundtrack has given me chills over and over again. It’s pure genius and an absolute masterpiece. It’s so grand and emotional and witty and I truly fall in love every time I press play.
Jesus! Every lead has the most clear tone I’ve ever heard in my life. Magnifique!
My favorite soundtrack of all time. Makes it even more devastating after the burning of the cathedral. I was on the verge of tears for hours watching live footage of it burn
Me too, I was crying just watching the videos and the response 😭
7 mins and 53 seconds of the pure perfection and tears.
Anytime the hellfire but gets added at the end of the songs, it gives me chills
Michael and Ciara have voices of silk
Hunchback is such a diverse dark and powerful score it’s such a underrated production
This show is my entire life and I want it on Broadway SO BADLY.
thank you alan and stephen for creating 'out there' for us. i can say there are many disabled people who have identified with quasimodo and 'out there' really embodies a lot of things we struggle to say sometimes. it embodies our desire to be seen as equal and as human as everyone else is. one day, someday, we'll all get to be out there.
My absolute fave song from this movie is when Esmeralda is stuck in the church and she sings “god save the outcasts” one of the greatest songs 💕
