Lyrics:
[Verse 1]
Do you worry that you're not liked
How long till you break
You're happy cause you smile
But how much can you fake
An ordinary boy, an ordinary name
But ordinary's just not good enough today
No, a woo oo
Ow, a woo oo
Ow, a woo oo
[Pre-Chorus]
Alone x7
I'm thinking
[Chorus]
Why-eieieie yeah, is Superman dead
Eieieie, yeah, is it in my head?
Eieieie, yeah, we'll just laugh instead
You worry about the weather
Whether not you should hate hate hate
[Verse 2]
Are you worried about your faith
Kneel down and obey
You're happy you're in love
You need someone to hate
An ordinary girl, an ordinary waist
But ordinary's just not good enough today
[Pre-Chorus]
[Chorus]
[Pre-Bridge]
No, a woo wo
Ow, a woo wo
Ow, a woo wo
Why-eieieie yeah x4
[Bridge]
Doesn't anybody ever know x3
That the world's a subway, subway
Doesn't any, any, any, any, any
That the world's a subway, subway, HIE
anyone from 2024?
Let’s go!!!!
I'm here. Let's get it. Incubus next?
Just found this song from another youtube video.
yah man were here!
Of course
Man this has the 90s written all over it. Miss that decade with a passion
It was a great time to grow up in
Nostalgia 🤍😊
The 90s wasn’t a decade. It was an emotion.
Without this song or alternative-rock/grunge music from the 90s how tf would I get through life
my son just turned 30 and this was his first favorite song as a kid. :)
I turn 30 in February and this is still one of my favorites 😂
That's how I got turned onto it lol
I turn 27 in about 3 weeks and it took me almost 20 years to find this song again. It was my favorite song as a very young kid when it was still on the radio :)
This is that type of song where you hear it and you never forget it.
I remember seeing these guys live at the Paradise in Boston back in 2000. What a great time…
2023, who's still jamming?
HOLY SHIT I FINALLY FOUND IT. IVE BEEN SEARCHING FOREVER FOR THE "ow wahooooo ow wahooo ow" SONG FOR HALF A DECADE AND I FOUND IT
STOP THIS IS SO FUNNY HAHAHHA GLAD YOU FOUND IT
Lmao great song
I hear ya. I've been trying to figure out the name of a band that had a yellow and blue album cover. I owned the album. I only remember the colors and I'm fairly certain the band was named a three letter acronym. It came out between 98-02.
@@theboynamedsuzi5925 p.o.d or r.e.m?
@@a.d.d.j8673 nope, good guess. REMs monster is a favorite of mine. Never owned a POD album, I actually made it a point to skip them the times they played at shows I was at.
Thank you for the response!
We were so incredibly spoiled with amazing music in the 90's that I remembered this song as a second-rate pop grunge clone. After decades of bullshit music I come back and listen to it again, this song is fucking awesome. The hubris of man.
Absolutely! The 90s had way too much to appreciate in only ten years.
You’re goddamn right- I agree
100%
70s and 80s where way better!!!
Definitely miss the 90's!
We used to joke about if Raine and Alanis Morissette had a kid, that the i-e-i-hi's that kid could belt out would be unrivaled in music history! Love this Canadian Gem of a band!!!
yes, that song is very much stuck in all our heads
This song meant so much to me as a depressed youngster. It means a lot to me now that I’m a depressed old person. I love Our Lady Peace!
Hey man, you're not alone. From another depressed person
your only depressed if you allow it
@@octane9110 that's exactly what got me out of it. I learned it was me the whole time.
Dude reflect on what makes you happy. As long as you aren't harming others then just do what makes you happy one day/week.
Forever!!!!@
2023 and I'm still listening to this song 26 years later ♡♡
this album was my childhood lol
Heard this on a hard rock station and was wracking my brain to remember the band.
May 2024
The 90s were so awesome. I wish I would have taken the time to appreciate it.
We had no idea what we had back then.
Besides being a completely awesome song that I can't stop listening to, does anyone realize what an insanely great job the drummer is doing. The guy has a small kit and most of the fills are being done on the snare. Plus the rhythm is not even a steady beat. It's like the main rhythm is a string of small fills. Really terrific job. I'm not sure who this guy is, but I'm sure he's underrated.
Puts one in the mindset of Stewart Copeland.
That would be Jeremy Taggart, sadly he is no longer in the band, he left in 2014 being replaced by Jason Pierce.
The bassist was moving as well. Just an incredible production by all.
If really want to see him go off, check out the song/video for Automatic Flowers
In June 2022 this song is still one of the best ways to kick off summer
I remember my Dad showing me the entirety of the Clumsy album when I was around 7. Sat in his car and just listened to the whole thing while hanging out in a parking lot, and I immediately became obsessed with this song. 17 years later Im still in love with it.
I AM THE ONLY PERSON IVE EVER KNOWN TO LIKE THIS SONG. I raise everybody’s eyebrows with this
This and Clumsy are fucking amazing
Still get chills hearing Raine's vocal. His style is nothing like anyone else on earth. I love that voice.
Smashing pumpkins
@@brandonrusso.2430 Was gonna say Mr Corgan
I thought these guys were the fuckin toadies. Same voice lol
I've always thought him and the dude from Three Days Grace sound very similar, and interestingly both from Ontario
@@ozymandias9549 love three days grace
This is the best song in my life.
I'd served S.Korean DMZ police for 2 hell_like years. And when i was so tired and so afraid of going out to the line for recon duty, i repeated this song in my mind like thousand times. Don't know why this song was it, but, i believed this song is my only friend back then.
Thx OLP.
From nowhere, subway like world.
Thank you for your service.
The 2/11 A.C.R. rides with you brother peace !!!✝️

Hey my dear it's a pleasure to meet you here, I think you've got a beautiful smile on your face. may i ask if those are your natural hair, maybe we could get to know each other better..... where are you from?
Now that’s an interesting internet comment.
That drummer is just firing up this brillant song like a champ
Jeremy Taggart who left the band in 2014.
His vocal arrangement made this song damn near uncoverable.❤️❤️❤️
Same for the drum part. So much stuff going on, uncoverable lol.
Ya know billy corgan tho?
@@dylanellis9138 yeah. His vocals aren’t easy either.
@@zippy0099 use to think the same about MJK then I heard ear shots get away. Only one i've ever felt "uncoverable" is layne stayley.
@@dylanellis9138 Corgan doesn't go crazy with the falsetto like this guy, but he has a weird voice indeed.
Why don’t we have music like this anymore!!!!
Well we should have imo.

Listening April 21, 2021. Also giggling over how much my friends have changed. Babies! Loving every minute of this... ❤️
I always have hope for music.. ironically many of a UA-cam video has taught me hope for humanity is a tough ask 🤣🤔
Jimmy's Chicken Shack is another great band
Of course
One of the Best last 30 years. I Really Mean That.
I'm still listening in 2023. So many memories attached to our Lady peace songs.
I followed them for a a summer and met them a couple times. They were incredibly gracious people and awesome live. That was nearly 20 years ago. I haven't listened to them in a very long time and I don't know why. Such a great band. I miss music like this.
Canadians are about the politest critters on the planet. They must be taught aboot it from early on.
Saw them a couple years ago with bush and live. They are still great
I met them in Daytona when they did a benefit for Florida fires in late 90's. I met them and system of a down....they were very down to earth....both bands...
Hey my dear it's a pleasure to meet you here, I think you've got a beautiful smile on your face. may i ask if those are your natural hair, maybe we could get to know each other better..... where are you from?
THIS is the only version I ever saw when I was a kid!!!
Still listening to this song 2023. 😊
Love this part ordinary boy in ordinary world was ordinary name, ordinary, just not good not today strong statement
Clumsy is such an incredible album!
Finally the Canadian version is uploaded. I remember looking for it in 2017 and couldn't find it anywhere.
That was when I found out America had a different music video.
Still listening in 2024! Great performance Raine and band!🤘
2023 brother. And its super easy to play
I have so memories from this song when it first came out. I miss the 90’s
Totally forgot about this song for years until a week ago. So damn good, makes me nostalgic for the 90s so bad. We were truly spoiled for choice back then.
Hey my dear it's a pleasure to meet you here, I think you've got a beautiful smile on your face. may i ask if those are your natural hair, maybe we could get to know each other better..... where are you from?
One of my favorite 90s band
There's still hope. I'm still loving this song!!!!! In the happy new year of 2024!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
This video actually scared me as a child but I kept watching. I couldn't stop. Just like the song
I first heard this song when I was in grade 9. A classmate used it for a project presented in front of the class. That was in 1996.
You are mistaken about the year. Superman's Dead was released as a single on January 16th 1997. The album Clumsy was released on January 23rd 1997.
2024 and still ❤this tune 😎🤘🎸🎵⚡️🔥
It's 2024 and we really need Superman now!!!
This is the version of the video that is best.

Raine is mesmerizing in this, can't look away
The kid in this video is also the lead singer of "Serial Joe" another awesome Canadian band.

A lost art
I was just thinking that then saw your comment
Sure it's just the video that's wierd
Thank god cuz 2020 isn't good lol
Cause they rocked man
His facial expression that he does from 2:03 to 2:07 is what I try to mimic every time I jam out to this 😅
2023 anyone?👋👋👋👋
When bands like (Our Lady Peace) are no longer active you truly know that Superman Really Is Dead. . 😕🤘
Dude that drummer really pops
I’m here 2024!!
Still kicks ass 2023
Clumsy the album still has a lot of meaning and memory for me
love your oasis photo
One of the best writers for filler in songs!
Example: the scat’ after: “Ordinary, just not good…not today” …. 0:34
And the chorus intro, Alone alone alone alone,,,why-eee-iii-eee
Their still doing it! I watched them open up for Live and Bush a few years ago. Great show, great band.
Best band of all time.
I love the drummer! He totally crushes it, and looks like he's be just as at home in Weezer.
And the guitarist from fun
@@due_consideration903 😆
Love Raine, he is so creepily handsome. Plus with that voice. Ouch ❤️
Right!!
does raine love you LOL
That's gay bro
He no longer uses that nasally voice
That is such an accurate description of Raine! 😻 Swoon!
The most underrated cat in this band is their drummer. Holy **** man!
my older brother instilling my music taste is what brought me here, he's the 🐐 obviously. 💪💪❤️
This song is very unique because the chorus has like 2-3 different parts including a build up in the middle. And then for chorus 2, 1 of the parts goes out of order. Very creative, I don't see many bands do that.
Thats why islts good. i hate cookie cutter music. break the mold
It’s a bit different, but it might be more of a switch-up than a punch-up, if you know what I mean. A similar, probably more common trick that works to punch up a song is to drop the prechorus from the final chorus. (The only example I can think of right now is “Oh” by Sleater Kinney.) Another good one with some switches is Flyer by Skating Polly.
it always fascinated me as a young aspiring musician that people not much older than me could write such cool shit. 20 years later I still wonder...
You cannot cover this song.. it’s so unique
Music reached its peak in the 90s.
The best songs are always the ones that take the longest to find
Most underrated song
Year 2023 ...
this song still KICKS ASSSSSS !
Im American but i only listen to the Canadian version of this song because Canada is amazing
should have 500mill views at least, probably their greatest song!
As I'm getting older I'm being able to relate to this song more, all of my childhood heroes are slowly dying in the past 10 years.
instant upvote. i already knew, this was my childhood
A good rock song to help me out with my blues
One of the very best rock songs ever made and you can see and hear why
It’s good, but relax.
Absolutely loved Our Lady Peace and this video, Ryan Dennis from Serial Joe, not ashamed to say at one point in time I considered if I had a baby boy naming him Raine 😂
2022 still rockin OLP, meet you all back here in another 25 years🤘💚✌
When music touched your soul!
I listen to speed metal, thrash, prog metal, super heavy stuff. But there is something about this song and there always was that puts it in my top 200 or so favorites of all time. I cannot describe what it is.
when i first heard this song as a kid on mtv i sang the chorus over and over to remember it to ask my older sister when i saw her so i knew who it was cause back in the day u didn’t have google lol

Already 21 Years passing, When I was in BC. This is the first Canadian 's song that I heard.
This song has aged like wine🥂
I love this song. I ain't herd it in years and the only rock station doesn't play it. I remember having one station when I was a teen that only played grunge x106.3 it was fn amazing... I miss the nineties
Quote from Raine Maida about the song Superman's Dead:
"It's just about how hard it is for kids to grow up today. They're inundated with the media and images and cliques they try to have to fit into. Two images that are really strong for me lyrically are ordinary's just not good enough today,' and when I think of kids today, I would never think of a group of eight year olds going out to a baseball park and throwing the ball around. It doesn't happen any more. I have a nine year old brother; he's either inside playing Nintendo or staying up late on a school night watching Beavis & Butt-Head. And you juxtapose that against the old Superman, on the black and white series. He was a real hero, good values, strong willed, a gentleman, but I think Beavis & Butt-Head wins today." (Talking about the song "Superman's Dead" from the album "Clumsy")
Things have only gotten worse 🥲
Loved this song as a teenager. Damn, I'm old.
Thanks Scott K for introducing me to this. 👍

Once you realize deep inside that our modern world truly is a never ending revolving door of insanity where people give up their every last sliver of life for the most meaningless, zombie-like "goals" or "aspirations" which no one ACTUALLY wants... You know that you must change no matter what it takes. You too can live your life, in a world that's constantly trying to take your chance at having one from you.
