Lyrics:
Last time I talked to you
you were lonely and out of place
you were looking down on me
lost out in space
we laid underneath the stars
strung out and feeling brave
watched the red orange glow
watched you float away
Down here in the atmosphere
garbage and city lights
you've gone to save your tired soul
you've gone to save our lives
I turned on the radio
to find you on satellite
I’m waiting for this sky to fall
I’m waiting for a sign
all we are
is all so far
you're falling back to me
the star that I can see
I know you're out there
somewhere out there
you're falling out of reach
defying gravity
I know you're out there
somewhere out there
Hope you remember me
when you're home sick and need a change
I miss your purple hair
I miss the way you taste
I know you'll come back someday
on a bed of nails, I’ll wait
I’m praying that you don’t burn out
or fade away
and all we are
is all so far
you're falling back to me
the star that I can see
I know you're out there
somewhere out there
you're falling out of reach
defying gravity
I know you're out there
somewhere out there
You're falling back to me
the star that I can see
I know you're out there
you're falling out of reach
defying gravity
I know you're out there
somewhere out there
you're falling back to me
the star that I can see
I know you're out there
somewhere out there
you're falling out of reach
defying gravity
I know you're out there
somewhere out there
you're falling back to me
I know(x2)
you're falling out of reach
I know
I was homeless in grade 11 when this came out. I would sit down at the beach at night crying, praying, listening to this. I made it.
I'm glad you made it too. Wish I had been there to keep you company
Glad you made it man!
IM GLAD YOU ARE DOING WELL; INFINITE BLESSINGS TO YOU ,YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY FOREVER .
Thank God. Keep fighting
♥️
To everyone who grew up listening to this music as kids/teenagers; keep your heads up, stay positive, & continue to rock on 🤘🏻.
Thank U. I'm 34 in this year 2020.
@@tylerzwong3107 me too. Why is rock underground? Our 90s/00s generations mainstream music had so much more earnestness and honesty.

For a second I was transported back to 2002. My then girlfriend gave me a huge hug, I was 22 again for just a moment, and lots of memories came rushing back. Thanks Our Lady Peace.
Your very own time machine
Unfortunately for me I had just got dumped by my first girlfriend at age 12 when this song was released in June 2002 LOL, but it helped me get through it.👍
Same ... I was 25 ... she made me a mixcd after our second date ... I sat on a wall .. listening to it ... smoking a cigarette ... knowing I had fallen so in love. ...
20 years later ... I am blessed with a family and loving wife who I adore ... but funny how a song can take you back to a special place in time ...
💯❤️🎩
I sang this for the last time with my mom before I lost her. I’ll forever cherish her soul and the memories. I know she’s somewhere out there ❤️
HUGGING You
How are you doing now ?
Keep singing
Your MOTHER will hear you and sing with you
I'm so fucking sorry, sweetheart 😔 I lost my mom too, little over 3 years ago. Still seems like a today. Top it off, I lost my sister in June. She was only 36. Then the love of my life, my daughters dad, killed himself in August. I haven't even had time to breathe or grieve. Baby doll, I wish I could tell you it gets easier but it doesn't. We just learn to make room in our hearts and just learn to live with it. I send you nothing but good vibes. We have to keep going for them. God bless you angel and I'm here if you ever want to talk. ♡

True story.❤️
This is one of those songs that for a few minutes you can be transported back to better times. When you still could feel and still had a shred of hope in your heart and your entire future ahead of you. If only we knew then what we know now. So much I wish I could hold on to just to appreciate it more. Not take things for granted.
Couldn’t agree more . Miss the 90s when the world wasn’t what it is now . But like we were told as kids don’t be in such a rush to grow up because it’s not all that good
The key is to give our children that same feeling and hope. That’s one of my missions in life. To make sure my daughter has my early 90s childhood.
There's still, always hope"
There's Christ and he loves You.
God bless you much. 🙂❤️
Couldn't have said it any better. Man those were the days

Oooh... Our Lady Peace, high school memories, 90's best generation!
Man I miss this kind of music. Late 90's to early 2000's music was where it was at.
agree
YES
Early and mid 90s were great too, they grunge seen was awesome
not only that all the good movies came out
The 90's just kicked ass !!!! Just about everything was perfect. Someone please build a time machine !!!!!#
15 years trying to find this song!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe it
This song is doing something weird to me. It's more than nostaligia. It's reminding me of who I was and what ideals I used to have. Right now, I feel like the world has broken me into a mold and I'm lashing out (not violently, just not myself anymore). But this song makes me want to fight back and be who I am.
This comment hit me hard♡♡♡
I feel the same way.
Bruh. We forgot everything. Who we are. So much that I can’t even describe it in this stupid comment.
took the words right out of my mouth
Nox Arbor, mad empathy here. I get it and feel the same way. Hopefully you fought back and won!
Cant lie and say i didnt shed some tears with the intense nostalgia and its super cool to see so many 90s kids feel the same way. Makes it apparent that generation's are actually special and share some sort of connection. Sentimental to say the least. I wish we started a wave of music like this again that hits your soul and has that depth we havent had in a while. Its a larger than life kinda thing.
I totally get it! Amen!
Myself as well! Miss all us 90s kids. We were the best gen. I miss our simple happy times! So so much
Couldn’t agree more . Miss every minute of it especially having those family members still around . The freedom everything about it is gone
Completely agree graduate in 97. Damn we had the best decade. I don't think it will be topped before the next great reset. We are the last who are familiar with things today's society knows nothing about. Land lines, party lines, 3 channels, no cell phone, no computers. List goes on and on...we are truly blessed to be the most amazing generation! Gen x!

I miss the gold old days. The fashion, the music, movies tv shows and all the happenings in my life in the early 2000s are all fun!
The early 2000s, to me, was a reimagining of the 80s.
My mom told me about this band today, she was telling me about her favourite bands and told be she had a cassette tape of their songs so I decided to listen to them and I’m glad I did
Probably some of the best music your mom introduced you to kid! Shared this with my kids and there's something about it that resonates in the youth. 👌
Cassettes died before these guys hit puberty. Either way, glad you found them. :)
@@willbracken2367 Cassettes died before who hit puberty? The members of Our Lady Peace? Confused by your statement.
Welcome.
@@deanschulz5212 This was one of the first CDs I ever bought. I was in early high school. By then, nobody owned cassettes anymore and the “new” technology was mini discs and very early MP3s on ipods.
Much love and light to everyone reading this! I pray your day is full of blessings and you know how very special you are! 🌻
The reason this song matters now more than ever, is because it represents the opposite of our narcissism and inward focus, an unselfish cry to reclaim us from the abyss by someone else. Someone that cares that much about you. That's a comfort that I personally have not felt from another person in a very long time.
I love everything you said
LOL, this sond did help me embrace my inner self instead of the ones I was falling into.
GAAAAY
I’ve listened to this song at night since middle school, hoping and praying for a better life. I worked hard over the years and made an awesome life with my family. You all got this! Go live the life you imagined
Anyone else find this music video- the appearance of the band, the lyrics, the band’s sound, the song structure, the lead singer’s voice- to be one of the best representations of the late 90s/early 2000s??
This song is a true gem. So stoked that I grew up in the 90's. Best decade of music ever!
Was in foster care my mom was doing 5 in Victorville my dad did 20 in Atwater fed . I’m now 27 with 2 kids I’m doing fucken great in life I love this music it shows how much I’ve came along in life for everyone listening god bless you all
Seriously beat the odds! You should be proud of yourself; music is way more powerful than most of us give it credit for; happy to hear life is "fucken" great for you! :)
You go dude!! Wishing you and your family the very best in life!! Love and light to you always! ❤❤❤😊
Songs like this still have the ability to pull me back to when I first heard them-driving through many midnight hours and endless miles, trying to work, keep life together, pushing for light to come in the morning... It's almost the end of 2022, I have an amazing family, solid career and along the way, I found the best version of what life was supposed to be. "somewhere out there".
The chills from this song are no joke. Will forever be one of my favorites.
My mom showed me this song when I was pretty young. Around seven years old or so..
Coming back to this track now just fucking kills me. Miss you, mum.
This tune makes me think long and hard of all I know I’ll never see again. People who have passed away and those I met in passing to never see again. I know they’re out there……… makes me sad though… life passes us so quickly.
I hear ya. Makes me think bout the ones I should of never met. They say it teaches you something as every person is a lesson or blessin. It taught me nothing except that there are alot of BAD people in the world. Maybe they dont rise to level of Ghengis Khan orso but evil comes in all sorts of degrees
What you said is exactly how I feel
100% Well said
In tears tonight listening to this magical song from my younger years... OLP is a band that everyone must discover... I know you're out there... somewhere out there
Life was so simple..my heart breaks for that time.. I need that time now

How was life so simple then? I got blown up by a terrorist torpedo in Yemen, I am not looking back at 2003 with nostalgia. 10 years from now, people gonna be like "omg I miss 2019 it was so simple and awesome"

I had to Google somewhere out there but they came back with three other songs and weren't even close,so I googled the purple hair and taste part? Boom, voila' it pulled right up then. This song is like transcendental meditation to me. And I'm 64,and just an old hippie from the 70s. Wonderful insight and truths within this song though.
This song got me through many dark nights 🙏🏾

I grew up listening to this, but didn't know how deep the lyrics were. As a supposed adult, I go back to this song for peace and reason in this crazy world.
Yeah I loved this song and now I played it again and realized it was about drug addiction, never made that connection before

Every few years I revisit Our Lady Peace's entire discography. Here I am in 2023 to say - this is still one of my favorite songs of all time.
Simpler times in my life but I wouldn't change who I am today and the family I have with my husband and daughters. These songs take me right back to high school and that girl is still inside me and it is such a good feeling.

This song is such a hopeful epiphany!! It just takes whatever you’re going through and just lifts you up and restores hope inside you again!! So moving and bursts with energy and positivity!!
I’m 28 now. I remember watching this debut on MTV. I loved this music video, and it still brings back all of the feels.
I heard this song for the first time when I was 21. A hospital volunteer gave the Gravity album to me . I was there waiting for an organ transplant. On Monday I celebrated my 16 anniversary, I guess that was my 16th OPP anniversary.

For me it was another OLP song called Life. I cannot begin to tell you how many nights I stayed up listening to that song on repeat, crying and letting that song wash my pain away and fill me with hope.
I look back at this time in my life and remember what being truly happy. Before life kept beating me down. Before my addiction took control and I ruined my life beyond repair. 2 years clean and still getting no where. It's these songs that keep me going. The memories of happiness

It’ll never be this great again
I was born in 86 so I was like 3-13 during the 90s and even though I am having a hard time getting older I wouldn't trade that for anything because being a child in the 90s and that decade was magical, especially in Canada.
We are all marching with you my friend. Be well.
This song got me through a lot back in the day. So meaningful for me...
man the early 2000/s growing up in alberta was such a blast glad i had those memories, not to mention the rock talent we had back in those days, our lady peace, theory of a deaman, billy talent just to name a few.
This song just takes you to that place that felt so great.
I was 14 when this came out, now I’m 36.
I was 21 and in the middle of a messy divorce. I'm just old AF now.
First song I translated English to my own language because I wanted to sing it so bad and I wanted to know what it said. Today, I'm an English teacher. 23 years! Damn...😢 😃
Deep this has always been one of my favorite
I used to listen to this in Iraq in 2003, here it is 2020. It reminded of my girl back home, kept me going.
So many memories from this song. It was released in 2003 which was the exact year when these rock ballads died off. Music finally left the 90s behind to head into the indie music phase of the 2000s. Beginning of the end of an era.

still one of my all time favorites. take me back to yesterdays
I saw them live in Winnipeg and he sang this song about his dad but I can't remember the name... I cried my eyes out
This may be the perfect example of what a music video should be; people actually preforming music, an attractive girl who isn't absurdly proportioned and isn't gyrating like an idiot, everyone's dressed normally, no stupid "plot" or forced message... this music just speaks for itself.
1998 to 2004 were some of the best years for music. Period!
To this day this is still one of the most memorable music videos I have ever seen. 20 years later, I still remember this and the nostalgia hits me hard. I also remember the "NOW That's what I Call Music" CDS commercials and I'd see a small segment of this music video too. I was only 13, now that 2022 is around the corner I can't believe I am going to be 33 already, never thought I'd already look back and say "20 years ago, I was a 13 year old kid, and I remember so many good songs like this back then"
Man millennials I’m so jealous that y’all got to live as teens and up with this music as mainstream stuff. Us Z’s got nothing but tedious SoundCloud rappers and TikTok fuckboys 😭 This song isn’t even the greatest thing ever but I like it and it reminds me of stuff I heard as a young kid in the early 2000s (am 20 now). RIP rock & pop rock, hope it revives someday.
None of it was really objectively ‘amazing’ but none of us were chasing fame or clout so we enjoyed the ever living fuck out of as much as we could

It was 2003 the first time I heard this song. I was a karaoke DJ, and somebody requested and put this song up and his name was Derek. He sang the song with such a powerful voice I've never heard anybody sing this song again he was the only one I ever heard sing this song. I didn't even know it was a real song.
This song makes me think of him and I don't know whatever happened to him even if he's still alive or what I don't know. I had such a crush on him. But I was 15 years older than him and involved with someone else at the time.
