Man 90s alt rock is undefeated.
You are definitely right
It is defeated by the 80s New wave
You can say that again!
It's great, but honestly, you should pull some early ''70's up. It is unbelievable.
I dunno man, IDKHow is as good as this
The bass lines in this song, phenomenal.
The bass is my favorite part of the song. Very tight rhythm section
Damn straight.
If you like this bassline, you might like Rush (the band) too :)
edit: okay i see you're subscribed to Rick Beato, Davie and Dream Theater so you probably already know about Rush hahah
ikr,my first thought when i heard the song for the 1st time
The bass is insanely good. As good as rhcp and faith no more.
This song was like a time machine. Time flies kids, you better pay attention and hold on tight.
The double 00s should've been an extension of the 90's,..instead, the new millennium was the beginning of Clown World.
Hold. On. Tight. Here we go!
We're just like...Just like...just like...YOU!
It certainly takes me back to another time, a place where I was happy, a forgotten era of well-crafted songs with ripper bass lines :D
Back when the one computer in the house was in the living room or kitchen. Back when getting online was "a thing to do".
I'm 72 next month. Still one of the greatest tracks of the 90s. Timeless

This song has been buried deep in my memory. I have brain cancer but one thing that keeps me going is celebrating great music like this.
Such a beautifully crafted song. His vocal control is on par with David Bowie.
Sorry to hear that brother, rock on!

So right about this song! Love and healing!!!
I always thought that too about David Bowie!
Kinda looks like David Bowie.

We love the all, the all of you
Where lands are green and skies are blue
When all in all, we're just like you
We love the all of you
And when I cry for me, I cry for you
With tears of holy joy
For all the days, you've still to come
And did I ever say I'd never play
Or fly toward the sun
Maybe in the meantime something's gone
We love the all, the all of you
Where lands are green and skies are blue
When all in all, we're just like you
We love the all of you
That sounds fine, so I'll see ya sometime
Give my love to the future of the humankind
Okay, okay, it's not okay
While it's on my mind, there's a girl who fits the crime
For a future love dream that I'm still to find

They really were. There will never be another rock revival like this again. 🥺
It was ok, but not no near as good as the 70,s and 80,s.
Born in the 70's, 80's decade was my childhood, and the 90's were my teenage years. Definitely a fun time that I didn't fully appreciate enough at the time I was living it. Too rushed to become grown thinking of the next century is going to be so cool not knowing the Now was the most important time

Have had this song stuck in my head for years but could never remember the name. Today marks the day that I can now die a happy man. I'm not sure if anyone has ever had that weight lifted off their shoulders before when you finally hear that song after trying to remember it for so long but let me tell you...its glorious.
For some reason, yes, that has happened to me more than once with this song.
It is. Welcome back. We are leaving soon, come with us. The sun has reached its minimum, the next cycle will be the last of the era. Be True, that’s all you need to do. And in the meantime..
Nope, nobody else ever has, you are the only person to have ever had that feeling in the entire history of humanity. Thank you for letting us all know how it feels.
Ha, that's hysterical. I usually had that happen in the time before smartphones and smart radios though, because now if you hear a great tune on the radio at the gym or supermarket, you can just use a SoundHound to figure it out, where as in the olden days, you were hosed!
Same! Heard it twice years ago and the only thing I remembered was the sample at the beginning from a one-2-one advert years ago and tried googling it every now and then over past ten years to no avail. I actually thought it was a Turin Brake's song. For some reason I also thought I remembered that the song had "my spidey sense are tingling" in it but I was very wrong, but had another search today and found it after looking at "who sampled who" website.
It’s crazy how songs make you feel.

In 1996, my dad and I got season tickets to The Columbus Crew soccer team. I was 9 and we lived about an hour and a half away. Unexpected? So, you think the GOTG3 trailer using this song was done without the band's knowledge? They're seeing it at the same time as us? They didn't work out contracts and royalties when/before the trailer was being edited? Really?
I don't think they expected contracts, royalties, or even contact to use the song. So I could see that as unexpected...until it's not.
@@ghostofyourmom that isn't nearly as far fetched as you think. Alot of corporations own the publishing rights to songs and can use songs for media without permission from the song writers. Disney being the large media company that it is owns the rights to Alot of songs. I highly doubt every song featured in the guardian of the galaxy trilogy was used with approval from the writers. Publishing rights and writing credits are not the same thing.
you guys are thinking too much into Tony's comment. He is sayin Spacehog is going to make a windfall
@Lin Zhaolong I'm not overthinking anything. Some people don't understand how the music business works which is OK. Now I don't know about this case in particular, but it's not crazy to think the band didn't expect this to happen. Many media companies own the publishing rights to songs while the band or individual song writer doesn't. It's extremely common, although it is becoming less common since bands aren't as reliant on record companies anymore. It's completely possible this song was put into guardians of the galaxy 3 without the band having any knowledge of it. That being said, they may have known about it too. All I know is that songs get used for media purposes all the time without the original song writers not giving permission. The rights to songs are split into a few different categories, and publishing is one of them, and a lot of times a company owns the publishing rights.
I was 12 years old when I first heard this song. I'm now 38. I have loved many songs over the years - most of them get old. But this... this is one of the most timeless rock songs I've ever loved.

How are they doing with it?
Yeah how's it going?
lol
I play in a 90s alternative/ rock tribute band and we play this along with all the other great stuff from mostly the mid to late 90s..
Would love to listen to your playlist ngl
This song couldn't be more 90s if it tried. And that's what makes it so brilliant.
Most of my favorite songs are from the 90s. This is one of them.
This is the song you play for people when they ask “what did the 90s sound like?”
Well said!
That and flag polesitta
Nah, "You Get What You Give," maybe some Spice Girls, Pearl Jam, or Coolio
I would play Cause I'm Your Girl by S.E.S
That's definitely one of them.
It’s rare to hear and see a bassist that sings and plays that well :)
What can I say, a comment from the Toadies' Possum Kingdom brought me here, and I'm glad I did, it's 2024 and more than twenty years have passed since I last heard this masterpiece.
We had our own vibe in the 90s, such a good vibe too. I miss it. 43 yrs old next month 😔
I imagine the DJ played it at your prom though?
Joe B happy belated birthday...turning 43 in 7 days...man what a life we have lived so far
WORD
I also miss it. We were so care-free and optimistic at the time.
Happy belated. I also turned 43 this year, September 4, 2021.
James Gunn sure is a expert at bringing attention back to these absolute BANGER tunes from the 80s and 90s
He's a good bloke
I think this is the first 90s music in GOTG because Quill always using his mom's playlist from the 60s-70s, but now he got Zune since 2014 which can just play any songs.
Nah he mostly perfer from the 60s and 70s
He’s used songs from 60-80s this is the first 90s song
The Spinners - Rubber Band Man
Listen I'm an older Rocker..but this Song Kicks Ass!!!...Very Cool 🎶🎵🤟
1994, I had a crush on the hottest girl in school. She was captain of the dance team and I was a metalhead skateboarder...way out of my league. Long story short, I found out she liked me. Went to her house after our first hangout and she played this song on her cassette tape boom box. Now it's in the memory vault. That was a good day.
One of the greatest songs of the modern rock era. Spacehog was criminally underrated and under promoted.
Finally
The correct usage of underrated.
@@Golfstar17, YES! Exactly. Thank you.
This song is about to become mainstream
Just like they did with our beloved comics 😢
Again lol
It already was
Lmao these kids thinking classic songs are only relevant when they appear in a Marvel movie 😄
You can tell the band leader is the bassist. Unreal baseline 🥹
Me and the boys when we’re floating through space
Reading through the comments it’s clear this song has so much meaning to a certain place and time to people. This song is an unearthed time capsule.
This song rocked the new Guardians trailer, i cant be the only one that had to look it up
That Bass is LEGENDARY!
if you like this you might like my brother music. his name is Stu Morris and 'she has a car' is a good song by him,
One of the greatest songs in my 52 years
A bunch of people will now learn about one of the best 90's songs. Welcome!
i graduated high school in June of 95 and that summer I took a job working at a Taco Bell overnight. This sound would always play at 3am and Id sit and watch out the window at the sleeping town I lived in
Sounds like the Sucked Out video by Superdrag, in night mode 😂
Awesome memory what town??,
That sounds terrible. Probably still better than these days for most of us though. Nostalgia is weird.
That town sounds like fun
95 was my graduation year, too. Loved this song then and now.
Me and one of many buds ,left Odessa TX driving to Las Vegas and Heard this song many times on the radio and it reminds me of him and way we would sing sing it to top of our lungs,he has passed away but i never forget the time we had love you BigReedo
Brings me back, I was a rookie cop on midnights. i would crank this on the way to calls. Life moves fast.
As a DJ at WKPK FM in the 90's, I would make this song a staple of my show. What a time to be alive.
Agreed
"We'll all fly away together. One last time.... into the forever and beautiful sky." - Rocket Raccoon
The singing is great, but that outro piano always gets me. What a beautiful song!
Ahhhh…..The 90’s! ❤
I really hope guardians of the galaxy 3 finally gets this song the recognition it deserves!
Oh believe me it was big back then too
Already there
Back in 94, this song was an absolute hit. The recognition was there, but it's cool that it is being brought back. :)
@@rairai5114 96. End of junior year
What are you talking about? It got a ton of recognition on its initial release. Great song then and a great song now.
That bassline!!! Wow
Silky Wellman agreed. Magic!
Reminds me of geddy....
@@machmslf Well Geddy used Rickenbacker basses back in the day. He also sings and plays these groovy bass lines!
With the fact he is singing
Yes!! ....and with the voice of Ziggy Stardust.
🗣️ WE ARE BECOMING THE GUARDIAN OF THE GALAXY WITH THIS ONE 🔥🔥
We'll all fly away together, one last time, into the forever and beautiful sky.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever - Lift Me Up by Rihanna
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road by Elton John
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 - In the Meantime by Spacehog
Marvel always rocks with awesome music in their movies and teaser trailers.
