For example, not making it clear that the Lannisters are siblings doesn't matter, as we all know that they're siblings. So you wouldn't pick that up as a criticism.
I wish they hadn’t changed Lady Stark’s attitude. I despised her in the books for how she treated Jon and for pushing Ned to accept the King’s offer. The show definitely made her more sympathetic, but it’s a lie. That’s not the real Catelyn.
It’s kinda annoying how significantly they altered the Tully’s, well except Lysa I guess, she’s equally a nutter. Edmure is a brave man and cares deeply about his people, not an incompetent fool they make him out to be. And obviously Cat’s just not a good person and is shockingly incompetent. I think the show even had a scene where she acts remorseful of her treatment of Jon, that’s not her. Book Cat stayed hating Jon and never tried to pretend otherwise, even contesting Robb’s wish to name him his heir after all his siblings aside from Sansa are believed dead. She even tried to imply one day Jon would kill all Robb’s kids and usurp their land smh.
They made her more sympathetic to make the red wedding a bigger shock, alongside other alterations like having Jeyne/Talisa in the wedding with a child, and they succeeded.
