@don o Focus on the abundance, not on the lack. What you focus on, you will see in your world. Since you can’t take in everything around you, your reticular activation system - your focus system in the mind - will bring into focus what you focus your thoughts on. This will allow you to see the abundance in your world that you may be missing right now. If you, for instance, have a lack of money, then don’t focus on your lack. Focus and think about the abundance of possibilities in the world to make money. Soon ideas and opportunities to make that happen will start to “pop up” in your world. It’s almost a bit freaky how things that hold solutions for you - perhaps books or acquaintances - that have been there in the background for quite a while just one day suddenly jump out at you. P.s. if you really want to learn about all this you just need to study and apply and repeat.

@@spcaboss Because the ad was IN the video. An entire minute 30 of it. and then another minute to talk about his channel. 25% of the entire video, was ad. Not to mention, the youtube ads themselves. So yeah, stretching it past 10 minutes would have been insulting.

Great video. Comfort and fear of failure kept me from switching careers and trying something new. ( for years ) But one day I just did a 180 and just did it. Which is crazy. I went from running a martial arts school and teaching Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to getting in to programming late in my thirties. I get haters daily that it’s to late and I won’t succeed because I am older. Or something stupid like that. But like you said shoot first ask questions later. People wonder why I quit being a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu instructor. Which is a pretty good job especially if you are successful. 1. It hurts 2. Can’t do it remotely 3. I love coding and making stuff Find your own path and don’t let haters hold you down.

I see that we have to find the balance between planning and taking actions, cause sometime taking action without giving it a thought gonna take your life away
My parents have always steered me away from this and always emphasized the importance of planning to me. For some reason, it never resonated with me, maybe since our house is the one covered in unfinished projects and hoarded items. Constantly thinking about things has fed my anxiety disorders and overall started turning me into my parents, however, I know that taking action is a much better mindset-- the issue I have with getting on my feet is having lived through a childhood where I couldn't experiment on anything for myself without my parents steering me away from that thing. As a result, I lost many opportunities and overall just missed out on childhood. Only when I moved away to attend university did I get happy and walk out of my first semester with a 3.65, deciding to double major in music tech and CS. I only backpacked in the blue ridge mountains for 4 days because I said, "fuck it," and went ahead and did it. I'm generally much happier without my parents telling me all the downsides of everything I discuss, and try to avoid talking about my plans. TL;DR: The mindset in this video is 100% true. It is empowering and makes you feel so much happier with yourself in the long run, regardless of the outcome of the impulsive decision made. Thanks for this video, I needed a reminder since I've been stuck with my parents for a month on the winter holiday!
I have the same problem... I legit can’t do anything I want and figure out if I’m capable because my parents decide what happens and when it happens... I can’t even get a job or go to a friends house without them butting in and making the decisions for me
"you'll learn faster by doing rather than by reading about it, watching a video abou-" *crashing noises as I make my way out of the house ignoring the rest of youtube forever*

I totally agree with this I always say to people school is great but once you begin experiencing your career you learn more than you could ever learn from a book.
"If Edison had a needle to find in a haystack, he would proceed at once with the diligence of the bee to examine straw after straw until he found the object of his search... I was a sorry witness of such doings, knowing that a little theory and calculation would have saved him ninety per cent of his labor." - Nikola Tesla What I mean by this quote is that the shoot-first mentality is like Edison searching for that needle. The reason Better Ideas uses this method is to seed out ideas that contradict each other and find which is the truth. The reason shoot-first succeeds in this is that it reality-checks the idea. A different approach would be to test out the conflicting ideas and this way come to understand which is real or if either aren't. Knowing this, one doesn't need to always use trial and error as it uses too much time.
so another way to put it, in edison case, if just he use shoot-first mentality in a proper way, after counting the 1000th straw, he should assess that his diligence and labor isn't effective and efficient as it uses too much time, and should've come into realization and right ideas of how to strategize his next action, rather than keep going blindly doing trial and error till the 100,000th straw. As if he didn't even inspect any of the straw and being too busy with planning and theorizing without experiencing the "action" (the field of work, the reality) he would also theorize blindly, doing trial and error in his mind making 100,000 ideas and end up wasting time also. Is that what you mean? then the idea is the "balance", because sometimes people think too much, but there's exist people that act too much too, and see an act of thinking as blatantly useless and waste of time, similar to those people who when they still in school dislike studying , got a bad grades then justify it with "i'm more a practitioner" things, which nikola tesla said "knowing that a little theory and calculation would have saved him ninety per cent of his labor". so the vibe of this video is like a wisdom that suitable for this generation, but not an everlasting principle that can be applied across time, since the phenomenon of over thinking, over planning, people lacking action isn't happening in the 19th century where there's lack of knowledge and people can only "shoot first" because there's no available information, and for those people "think first mentality" would be more suitable
Alan watts view on life : dont take it to seriously Jordan petersons views on life: life is suffering Both are rather impressive. They just managed to figure out what worked best for them at there time of life. Knowing how to jump head first and knowing how think about the situation is amazing Knowing how to analyze those who jump head first and knowing how to analyze those who thing is great Having the abilities to do these things is wonderful, the issue comes with figuring out how to apply the information irl and when to switch to the "correct"/valued option Would either of you know anyone/any videos that might explain how to know the right moment for the right scenario?
@@steampunkhulk5559 Search for OODA loop. It means Observe, Orient, Decide, Act. It speaks for itself but basically, first you observe what's happening in the situation you're in. You didn't stretch the video past 10mins even though it was already 9:55. That speaks.
Pankaj Kumar yeah. Because 1.5 minutes was an ad and then stretched it another minute to talk about his channel. You’re right. That speaks
@@egeniojaramillo9048 nah one ad at the start for me. If he made it to 10mins he would have gotten more than that
@@spcaboss Because the ad was IN the video. An entire minute 30 of it. and then another minute to talk about his channel. 25% of the entire video, was ad. Not to mention, the youtube ads themselves. So yeah, stretching it past 10 minutes would have been insulting.
Heelcather stretching it past 10 minutes, with ads (useless fluff that brings no value to the video) , so that you can make even more money? Yeah, it’s god damn insulting. It’s insulting all his viewers. Why do you think there are always comments like this when a UA-camr doesn’t fill his video with useless shit, just to get above the 10 minute mark?
Heelcather bahaha. It’s insulting to the majority of UA-cam viewers that have a brain. Stretching out a video for no actual reason or added value, just so you can capitalize even more on it, is insulting on its face. Especially with 1/4 of the video is already an ad, AND the video has 2 ads before it even begins. You’re such a maroon
I talked about starting a UA-cam channel... no one cared or believed in me.
Now that I've finally hit 1,000 subscribers after 6 months of uploading, people are congratulating me and suddenly care! Actions are louder than words.
Great video. Comfort and fear of failure kept me from switching careers and trying something new. ( for years )
But one day I just did a 180 and just did it.
1. It hurts
2. Can’t do it remotely
3. I love coding and making stuff
Find your own path and don’t let haters hold you down.

Every time I watch some of your older videos it blows me away w how much wisdom and your ACTION videos. Love your personal practical shares of experience like the "gossip story" .. things like this make you superior in what you do and sharing your fails as well as your successes make one realize what an AMAZING PERSON YOU REALLY ARE! THANK YOU JOEY for getting the world moving again... and helping us fighting thru the depression without falling into that ruminating rut. Blessings and may the universe give you all you wish for for helping others!

Your channel has to be one of the best for 'self-help'. It's no-nonsense and comes across as genuine rather than a channel feeding you a little info as a means to promote a bunch of bullshit. Love it.
I can’t even get a job or go to a friends house without them butting in and making the decisions for me
This sounds so much like my dad.
This is like the only selfimprovement channel on UA-cam that actually gives me useful information. Keep up the great work !
Dude honestly you are the BEST self improvement channel
Dude thanks for helping me out in the worst of my depressive slumps.
Rather than obsessively deliberating over what path to take, just start to walk one.
🔥🔥🔥
This is awesome !

I will watch and listen this video again and again. For a long time i am suffering from this - Cannot take Action.

What you said is just what I needed to do in almost 2 years of just reading and thinking which way to take...
Ahhh, it's so damn breaking feeling, but I recently just hopped into a way, and this is the best decision I did, and I'm waiting for what doors this would open to me later.
Thank you a lot! 🌺
I love you
Your one of the few inspirational UA-camrs that is actually down to earth
And by using examples that the average Joe can relate to, you easily connect and get their attention
Plus you never talk about ways to make money or start a business instead you focus on giving people the mindset to be better and improve themselves
Love you man, keep up the great work

Thank you, this was very helpful. I developed the bad habit of overthinking everything
Motivational channels always have highly convincing video titles. But after watching it u feel even more confused. But ur videos have quality that matches ur titles. I can take away atleast one precious thing from each video of urs. Hats off.
I'd like to thank you for all the wise advice you've put on UA-cam, its very obvious you put time and effort into these.

at 7:35 you really got me. Really got me. That's EXACTLY what I've been doing for the past 5 or 6 years. I just realised how afraid I am of taking action. Thank you for bringing this into my consciousness! I appreciate your voice and the pace you speak.
I totally agree with this I always say to people school is great but once you begin experiencing your career you learn more than you could ever learn from a book.

username 156 RIP brother!
"If Edison had a needle to find in a haystack, he would proceed at once with the diligence of the bee to examine straw after straw until he found the object of his search... I was a sorry witness of such doings, knowing that a little theory and calculation would have saved him ninety per cent of his labor." - Nikola Tesla
What I mean by this quote is that the shoot-first mentality is like Edison searching for that needle.
@@KudosForYou You make some solid points. It's exactly like that.

Knowing how to jump head first and knowing how think about the situation is amazing
Knowing how to analyze those who jump head first and knowing how to analyze those who thing is great
Having the abilities to do these things is wonderful, the issue comes with figuring out how to apply the information irl and when to switch to the "correct"/valued option
Would either of you know anyone/any videos that might explain how to know the right moment for the right scenario?
@@steampunkhulk5559 Search for OODA loop. It means Observe, Orient, Decide, Act.
It speaks for itself but basically, first you observe what's happening in the situation you're in. Then orient yourself where you stand in the scene. Afterwards there typically are multiple choices. You decide on one of the cases. Then you act on your decision.
@@GeorgiDimitrovX alright thanks for the help
