      I like your UA-cam channel very much and you give me sometimes new interesting ideas that I can implement in my own life/(day schedule). But others see your videos, listen to your message, think about it and probably forget them. Why, because proof of your ideas doesn't exist. You just talk. Try to track your accomplishments and share them, thus people don't listen to you like to a lifestyle "guru".

      Switch your mind from lack of to abundance. You already have what you need to do what you want to do. 🙏💫

    • @liamc1102
      @liamc1102 5 років тому +24

      @don o
      Focus on the abundance, not on the lack. What you focus on, you will see in your world. Since you can’t take in everything around you, your reticular activation system - your focus system in the mind - will bring into focus what you focus your thoughts on.
      This will allow you to see the abundance in your world that you may be missing right now. If you, for instance, have a lack of money, then don’t focus on your lack. Focus and think about the abundance of possibilities in the world to make money. Soon ideas and opportunities to make that happen will start to “pop up” in your world. It’s almost a bit freaky how things that hold solutions for you - perhaps books or acquaintances - that have been there in the background for quite a while just one day suddenly jump out at you. P.s. if you really want to learn about all this you just need to study and apply and repeat.

    Dude. Thank you. I'm 18 and have been in this 'paralysis by analysis' state for two years. I wanted to lose weight at one point, so I spent weeks finding the best weight loss program out there, but I ended up doing nothing. The same thing has happened with my passion, music. I haven't released any music because I'm trying to completely perfect it before I show it to the world, this has lead me to release nothing. It's time to do something, release this song I have, and go from there. Do the thing and you'll have the power - Ralph Waldo Emerson.

    I was born with this mindset. There is a downside to it. You will be wildly successful at a lot of things, but you also get severely burned. You mention an example of a social gaffe, but it's a bit different when it's a million dollar burn. There is a line you need to find on when you need to plan and when you take action. My most recent examples are taking on WAY TOO MANY research projects at once. I'm overworked and still accepting projects with authorship in return. I've found a fine line where I'm falling behind on projects with people depending on my expertise but unable to deliver on my promises. I may burn valuable bridges in this process.
    Overall I agree with your message but I believe it also deserves a bit further thought and should be taken as a general guideline, but factoring in your situation.

    It's a great mindset. I realised this years ago after dealing with choice anxiety, so I joined the army, then did a bachelor in psych, a masters in film, started a business whilst at the same time doing another masters in counselling. Better than still being stuck in that choice anxiety mode. Totally agree with you.

    Which is crazy.
    I went from running a martial arts school and teaching Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to getting in to programming late in my thirties.
    I get haters daily that it’s to late and I won’t succeed because I am older. Or something stupid like that.
    But like you said shoot first ask questions later.
    People wonder why I quit being a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu instructor. Which is a pretty good job especially if you are successful.

  • @falalala83

    My parents have always steered me away from this and always emphasized the importance of planning to me. For some reason, it never resonated with me, maybe since our house is the one covered in unfinished projects and hoarded items. Constantly thinking about things has fed my anxiety disorders and overall started turning me into my parents, however, I know that taking action is a much better mindset-- the issue I have with getting on my feet is having lived through a childhood where I couldn't experiment on anything for myself without my parents steering me away from that thing. As a result, I lost many opportunities and overall just missed out on childhood.
    Only when I moved away to attend university did I get happy and walk out of my first semester with a 3.65, deciding to double major in music tech and CS. I only backpacked in the blue ridge mountains for 4 days because I said, "fuck it," and went ahead and did it. I'm generally much happier without my parents telling me all the downsides of everything I discuss, and try to avoid talking about my plans.
    TL;DR: The mindset in this video is 100% true. It is empowering and makes you feel so much happier with yourself in the long run, regardless of the outcome of the impulsive decision made. Thanks for this video, I needed a reminder since I've been stuck with my parents for a month on the winter holiday!

    "If Edison had a needle to find in a haystack, he would proceed at once with the diligence of the bee to examine straw after straw until he found the object of his search... I was a sorry witness of such doings, knowing that a little theory and calculation would have saved him ninety per cent of his labor." - Nikola Tesla
    What I mean by this quote is that the shoot-first mentality is like Edison searching for that needle. The reason Better Ideas uses this method is to seed out ideas that contradict each other and find which is the truth.
    The reason shoot-first succeeds in this is that it reality-checks the idea. A different approach would be to test out the conflicting ideas and this way come to understand which is real or if either aren't. Knowing this, one doesn't need to always use trial and error as it uses too much time.

    • @KudosForYou
      @KudosForYou 5 років тому +9

      so another way to put it, in edison case, if just he use shoot-first mentality in a proper way, after counting the 1000th straw, he should assess that his diligence and labor isn't effective and efficient as it uses too much time, and should've come into realization and right ideas of how to strategize his next action, rather than keep going blindly doing trial and error till the 100,000th straw. As if he didn't even inspect any of the straw and being too busy with planning and theorizing without experiencing the "action" (the field of work, the reality) he would also theorize blindly, doing trial and error in his mind making 100,000 ideas and end up wasting time also.
      Is that what you mean?
      then the idea is the "balance", because sometimes people think too much, but there's exist people that act too much too, and see an act of thinking as blatantly useless and waste of time, similar to those people who when they still in school dislike studying , got a bad grades then justify it with "i'm more a practitioner" things, which nikola tesla said "knowing that a little theory and calculation would have saved him ninety per cent of his labor".
      so the vibe of this video is like a wisdom that suitable for this generation, but not an everlasting principle that can be applied across time, since the phenomenon of over thinking, over planning, people lacking action isn't happening in the 19th century where there's lack of knowledge and people can only "shoot first" because there's no available information, and for those people "think first mentality" would be more suitable
