As someone with ADHD, I appreciate this comment. While it doesn’t define who we are, ADHD is the opposite of focus so fulfilling one’s vision often seems impossible. How to make progress in life:
    1 - Develop a vision (imagine/visualize where you want to be);
    2 - Weaponize your attention (focus on what you want and like to do);
3 - Surrender/submission (don't fight to do what you have to do, just relax and try it step by step).

Success depends on the actions or steps you take to achieve it. Building wealth involves developing good habits like regularly putting money away in intervals for solid investments. Financial management is a crucial topic that most tend to shy away from, and ends up haunting them in the near future.., I pray that anyone who reads this will be successful in life!!

Your emphasis on the importance of having a vision resonated with me deeply. It's a gentle reminder that without a compass, it's easy to get lost. And yes, attention is truly our most precious currency in this age of distraction. Your point about surrender, allowing ourselves to truly feel and not be burdened by external circumstances, is a perspective that I hadn't considered deeply before. It was refreshing. 🐺

I actually managed to get out of the rud lately in my late 20s after nearly 10 years of procrastination. Turns out I just needed accomplishments to kickstart my mood, motivation and hope, to fuel my self confidence and my will to move forward. I accomplished more in the last year than in the 10 years before that. Surround yourself with good people, put yourself in a good mood and keep going. I'm just at the beginning of my journey but its great to feel that amount of power running through my body.

I never comment on UA-cam videos, but I had to for this one.
I've been watching your content for years and seeing how much your channel has grown in that time is so great to see. The quality of your content is so captivating, engages me right to the very end (which is rare!) and avoids all the waffle that so many videos have. There's no BS, you get straight to the point but you still manage to film cinematic, well scripted (and often comedic) videos that also feels very much like you + your personal work, not copying what everyone else is doing. You make self-improvement sound less daunting and much more like a journey to get excited about, not one that exhausts me before I even start. Your ideas are simple but effective, and watching your videos makes me feel like I can achieve my goals without feeling like I have to join the toxic productivity cult to do so.
Create your vision, focus your attention on that vision, and learn to surrender to the task at hand.
May your channel continue to shine, Joey! Keep doing what you're doing. You're helping a lot of people :)

Your part about creating a vision was so good that I had to do it before even continuing the video.
Specifically for me, a short-term vision. I often get lost chasing my long-term goals. I'm a very ambitious person, I pretty much know what I want in life, and I know I'm more than capable of achieving it.
The only thing holding me back it trying to chase the end goal too soon. It becomes overwhelming and ultimately stops me from making any progress at all because the thought of starting, knowing that I've got so much to do, is a daunting prospect.

The snippet that you edited in, explaining what submission is, is an absolute gold nugget. I struggle to do what I know I need to do on a daily basis at my job. I have this intense physical reaction of clenching my feet and my stomach tightens. I feel like I want to do anything but what I have to do. It's really reassuring to hear that other people also feel a resistance and having faith in the process will actually help.

I recently created a new channel (this one) on my UA-cam account in order to get a different feed of videos - reserved only to productivity content. It’s hard not to feel motivated when I open it and pick something to watch. Works especially well when I have a dip in motivation and reading my productivity journal isn’t enough. Hearing a positive message from someone else gets the gears turning a lot better for me.
I also applied this to instantly see content in languages that I’m learning so that there’s nothing in my way - except for switching channels. The path of least resistance is my favorite path.
And I still have my other channel where I watch all the entertaining stuff when I want to relax. But it doesn’t distract me when I don’t want it.
I don’t know if anyone will see this comment but maybe someone else would like to try it 😆

Its not too late for you at all! Start with the small daily routines. It sounds easier than it is somedays. Get them down. Try again every day. Eventually you will develop a sense of order for yourself and your surroundings. Clean up your space, make room for yourself instead of your baggage. And as time goes, try and pick up another thing to include in your daily life. Then another one and so on. But take your time. Consistency is more important than the amount of stuff you are doing. One day at a time. It is stupid what you can do in a year, let a lone in two, three or five. Start small, keep at it and you will get there. I know you will. Now is not the time to give up, I believe in you.

Hi, Alex. I'm 45 and I could have written exactly what you wrote. I could also add that this is not just another phase of mine... this have been my whole life. At 40 is where I saw and felt all the possibilities that I could have after following some testimonies of adults ADHDers. I guess I just started to know who I am and who I have been, connecting all the dots ever since. More 5 f-years have passed and, you know, things are only getting worse by the minute. Everything will get worse if you keep doing the same things! (an obvious lesson that it is hard for us to understand). I guess everything comes to what Joey is saying: action is the key. Everybody is talking about it. Even sports people are wearing it! It's the most dumbly obvious thing to follow... and yet we struggle to do that. And with hardships we start to focus on the worst things, we derail from the things we should be doing, like Joey said we start dreading it (we choose "flight" instead of "fight" because it is easier) and we all crumble. Everything is so heavy to "lift" now. But this is it. Not only action is the key but it is also the way to lighten the burden of ages. I believe in what he said: then things start to be more enjoyable to engage after we submit ourselves to our things. I heard someone say something similar: dare to dream, embrace your dreams, put them on paper, and turn them into reality. If you don't put your dreams into action... be sure that's why dreams will never come true. Obvious again. So simple yet so hard. Let's do that, my friend. And please don't let yourself sink deep into the ages like I am in, you know? Don't let yourself be 45 the way I am. Wish you the best 🫂 Stay strong 💪

i am 22 now and running late in life than my friends and other people of my age in general, this is taking a toll on my confidence. It's not that i am not doing things to change my life for good but i feel like i am not doing enough, i struggle to study for few hours and i feel entitled to my goals just because i have written them. I feel really left behind today and everyone is going ahead of me. I have left social media long time ago but it doesn't mean that now i will surely reach my goals. I was having good routine for a week from which i got side-tracked today, i hope i get back on right track today quickly. This video again re-emphasized the idea of having a vision in life. I am gonna do that hopefullly.
And there's a girl that wants to meet me ( i also wants too ) but i am not really confident in my life in general coz of those things i wrote above and i strongly believe that this is not the right time for me to meet girls or make gf and i should just disappear for a year to change my life for good and to build a strong identity that resonates with me and makes me feel like *YEAH, THIS IS THE REAL ME*

There’s a good analogy for this. Anybody that has ever done a rail grind on a skateboard/bike/snowboard/skis/etc, heck, even just walking on a balance beam, knows that you need to look at the end of the rail to stay on it. If you look at your feet you will fall off. So when you have a vision (what’s at the end of the rail), and you keep your attention on the vision, you are less likely to fall of the rail. Inevitably you will fall regardless about where you look, but the more you get back up and try again and keep your eyes on the end of the rail, the quicker you will grind that rail all the way to the end.

Almost every video I have seen of urs has been something I already kinda had an idea about, but you've articulated everything in such a simple and effective way that I understand everything, and I can get everything in my system at the time I see the video, and then I don't see another video for a few weeks.
Then I see one again and the same thing happens. I know it has something to do with where I am in my journey in life, and the commonalities we might share, but watching your videos have been very helpful in me being able to articulate my thoughts and applying those thoughts effectively in life.

Excellent video. To add, something that really helped me not procrastinate and worry was to not be outcome dependent. I got it from the Stoic principles that I only have control over my mindset and my actions. Even if I work hard and dedicate myself, my goal still might not be reached, and that’s ok! It’s about the journey, not the destination.
Tldr, let go of ALL outcomes. Be mindful. 🧘🏽‍♂️

I always love watching your videos, it is so inspirational.
I wish I could just follow your better ideas. I mean, I COULD do it.
But sadly the motivation usually falls off pretty fast, and I m back to despair.
In a video game, we see our progress so clearly. It's obvious. But in life, i can barely see if i m going towards my goals or just straight backwards. So obviously my mind tells me that I m just making one step forward two step back. And then here I am, back to my self destructive routine, hating myself and my whole life.
I think this time I will track my progress a lot more. I don't know how, yet.
I know its just another random comment on a UA-cam video, but it feels good to vent out somehow.
Anyway, great video as always. Thank you

You never see the things you do not measure get a chart from the dollar store create one write a big goal right the performance indicators that will lead you there adding a piece of motivation and look at it every morning write down your progress every morning track it every morning and see if you improve if you improve a little go back to your kpis and increase them if you approve a lot keep going at the end of the month take it down start a new chart at the end of 3 months look at your charts you will see Improvement it will take discipline but make it big make it hokey make it the first thing you see in the morning and the last thing you see at night that is your focus and watch your world expand. Good luck!

Thank you. I’ve been stuck for days, weeks, months and today felt right for the right reasons. Today felt good even. It’s not like I was I completely in the dark or that I have been forced to stay at unproductive and overwhelmingly sad pattern but for whatever reason it all dislodged for the better. One step for the better at a time.

I really struggle with the last point. Ive nailed the first two suprisingly intuitively but i have depression pretty bad mixed in with plenty of other mental challenge making it really hard to surrender to the process.
Lately before even watching this video ive been stuck in this cycle. I'll be relaxed, happy and taking things step by step at my own pace. My mom calls, lays on expectations and deadlines even though im an adult, i try to explain why this isnt productive, get gaslit and then the next week is completely unproductive. Im unable to even relax or play games, i just sit all day staring at a wall or at my computer screen trying not to beat myself up for failing to do anything. Even relax.
Its to the point where i consider cutting her off, but for fear that she might hurt herself, i cant do it.
To be clear im not holding onto a victim mentality or anything, i just felt like venting because obviously it just happened again. Ive pushed myself through worse things that have happened to me and the long term damage to my mental and phsyical health taught me to no longer just "robot" my way through it. So im just really frustrated that ive reached such a point in my personal development and the people who are supposed to be my biggest supporters and caretakers are the ones dragging me down.
Thank you for this video. It reassures me that im on the right path. Therapy hasnt really helped me, but hopefully this is the last time i need to vent this week before turning things around. Maybe this weeks a bust. Guess ill see

Just a random person on the internet here, but don’t dismiss therapy too soon. If you can afford it and you find a therapist you click with, it will work. In your case, since it’s related to people who’ve been so close to you for so long, it might take a few years to become your own independent person, but you will get there.
Also a therapist is not a miracle worker, they’re more your support buddy, someone who you can check in with while you do the work. Obviously you can also do it on your own.

Maybe if you can't cut her off, try to distance yourself emotionally and stop telling her about your most important goals? Maybe it will help to manage it

You may think i have no right to tell you anything about you and your mom because we don't know each other, but, don't say she is dragging you down. She is your mom, she took care of you and i'm sure she always want you to be well and happy. She will not be here in this world forever, and when she goes, you will miss her a lot. So take good care of her, as it will be good to you too.

@@diego04no. Some parents are harmful. Just as you say she is your mom and you should feel this way about her you should also realize that he is her son and she should feel this way about him. And that is to encourage not gas light. I think there are some people when their parents died There They Mourn they absolutely mourn and there are other people that when their parents die they go and they salt the grave and nail the coffin shut. You never know who's doing what I think a good therapist might be a better solution

That surrendering feeling you describe at the 8:00 mark makes me think of the feeling I use to get during the last day/Friday before Christmas, and summer breaks during school. Also, to a lesser extent, that feeling on Friday when you’re walking towards your car in the parking lot to leave for the weekend. Another thing that gives me that type of feeling is when I use to occasionally buy a lottery ticket, and discuss with friends what it would be like to win. It’s hard to actually describe, but it’s that at ease feeling where it seems like everything is working out perfectly and flowing smoothly, and you can put everything stressing your mind(obligations) in the back of your head for a bit. Unfortunately this feeling rarely lasts longer than a couple of days in my experience. I’ve been told that some drugs, specifically cocaine, and meth can simulate these feelings for some. Shoot, I’ve experienced where caffeine taken at the right time can give you a mild sense of this phenomenon. It’s very interesting.

    Here are bullet-points:
    Crafting an Inspiring Vision
    - Develop a specific, detailed vision for your ideal future life 1 year from now
    - Focus on how you want to feel and who you want to become more than material success
    - Ensure your vision is emotionally compelling and exciting to you
    - Write down the specifics to clarify your vision and keep you motivated
Harnessing the Power of Your Attention
    - Direct your attention purposefully towards your vision to turn goals into reality
    - Be aware of where your focus goes and guard against distractions
    - Treat your attention as precious by being selective about where it goes
    - Align your thoughts and energy with your core vision for maximum traction
    Surrendering to the Process
    - Access desired emotional states like calm and empowerment in the present moment
    - Take action with faith before you feel ready and disregard limiting beliefs
    - Allow yourself to relax into inspired action instead of forcing it
    - Progress comes from surrendering to the journey rather than controlling the process

The thing for me is: when someone spends so much time of his life not feeling this feeling you describe, it can also feel quite terrifying to feel this feeling for a longer period of time. When I feel like that it feels like my heart is pounding and I am sort of overwhelmed by a mix of joy and anxiety. It feels like I am on a moving train that goes in the right direction, but at a speed that I don't feel comfortable with. A speed that makes me feel like I could lose control over the train and derail at any moment. So it isn't always easy to relax into it, but I try. Thank you for the video!
