I definitely agree with your techniques on how to punch hard with maximum power, great breakdown.
Well who the hell am I to argue with an Olympian LOL. I certainly can't think of any way to get more torque out of a punch.
I mean yeah... first off... you are the guru... but secondly.... yeah.... that's it.
I agree with you, because you’re really accomplished and would likely whoop me; however wouldn’t the unforeseen punch be harder??? 😎😎😎
@@simpdown1404 one would have to be able to tell the future to see an unforeseen punch.... just saying.
I agree it . Pure physics
Try this next time mate

I've actually taken a hit from someone who does this. I thought he was just doing fancy footwork (Because he would come forward then change angles like Lomachenko) but everybody and then he would just push forward with it and even when I was guarded up. Definitely felt that hit! Looking back he definitely went easy on me because he didn't punch hard unless I was straight up guarding
Is that a sparring mate?
@@Tony_Jeffries yes it was sparring. Every now and then he would shoot it. Think he called it skipping. Very very soft hits then one hard one. If I was full Guarding from taking a few fast jabs to the nose then he would do that skip ste
Is it as hard as the falling step with lead left jolt or falling step with right cross?
@@darrenbetts2987 for sure stronger than the jolt/ power jab. I dunno about the demsey cross tho. We should do a study on it

I played baseball all the way up to getting cut from AAA walk-ons and one thing Ive found in creating power in sport is that there are some fundamental mechanics that carry over regardless of the sport, THIS being one of them. This footwork is actually called a "crow hop" and he described the force physics perfectly, multiplying the force of the blow by adding the inertia of your directional momentum to the rotational force of hips, shoulder and elbow. The same technique as throwing a ball as hard as you can. LOVE this dudes vids!
Wow didn't know about that - thanks for sharing ma man
played baseball my entire life and recently got into boxing/mma. Amazing how much the footwork and the use of hips in baseball carries over to striking.
Indeed! And did you know that the way our body is shaped compared to apes, makes us deadlier, even though our arms are nothing compared to a Gorilla. However, the way our body is designed and able to transfer weight without falling, and releasing either a projectile or a fist, is one of the reasons we are the Apex Predators on this planet. Our communication and our 20-year-long brain development (allowing parents to teach what they know and more) is also a major factor, but would mean nothing if we couldn't throw a rock at a foe with big teeth.

best of luck Tommy ma man 👊
I totally agree because it's also a punch in karate known as front/forward moving punch.
There are punches in Karate and Tae Kwon do which are basically straight rights or left where you step forward fast from the back foot.
I feel Like in karate kata punches are the most powerful, with the underarm mid going toward head one of the strongest.
@@chrisgould101 yes I think they are. However unless someone more or less is looking the other way, extremely difficult to land. They are designed to knock out in one blow, you would spent hours and hours practicing that one punch doing thousands of knuckle press ups to harden your knuckles. The reality of the situation is that the boxing jab is the fastest punch, boxers are fitter and have the ability to read the moves of their opponent and have more punches to call on. You can become a competent boxer in 3 months, while in karate it takes 3 years.
@@henrysevern I was watching kumite matches and notice that during kicks most have a tendency to open the target area up. I haven't mastered the punch, though my upper body is probably my biggest asset in karate so it makes sense to work on it. I can do it straight or coming upwards sort of like , a body uppercut and it connects on an angle drivin my knuckles in. I don't know if I've explained the technique properly but have been practicing! I imagine the best way to do it is WITH an upper diagonal forearm block,, them unleash it , it can conceal the whole punch. It obscures what they can see quite a bit. It's one movement the punch domes from underneath the block. Chubby Surprise!! Ouchy. I think it may work as a counter to a kick
@@chrisgould101 true, but when karate full contact bouts took place in California in the late 70’s the boxers were winning the bouts, this is where modern day kick boxing came about. Tony Jefferies boxing video site is top notch and I wish I had access to his videos years ago when I was young.
I totally agree with you Tony. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience
Absolutely agree. A shuffle step and the weight transfer that come with it makes it the hardest.
Tony, I love this channel!
Don't have money/time for a gym right now, but you're helping me work my heavy bag until I can get back into a gym.
I went for about a year but then Corona and personal stuff got in the way.
This makes me remember Bruce Lee's side kick! His foot work is this way!
He threw the hardest kick in the world with his technique. He called it pendulum stepping. The legs do swing in a pendulum like motion and allows for the most force to go through the target. Same way Newtons cradle, those balls that swing side to side by transferring force through the balls in the middle first. The force penetrates similarly. I onlu noticed now because of this Video. Fucking amazing video
Bruce lee was bullshit. Nowadays in the UFC they would hurt him so bad
@@waywillfind1709 give it a rest. Bruce Lee was garbage, was an actor not a fighter
@Erik Yeah modern day mma fighters would beat him. You wouldn't though lol

I like how Tony’s videos are short but yet give way more information than a 15 minute video about boxing great work
Ok, i tried this footwork and it works pretty well : the punches feel more powerful and more comfortable than the "classic" way. So, thanks for the tips, and for all your videos in general
Bruce Lee was trying to tell us the same thing, but Tony tells it better. Brilliant

Tyson used this form of footwork if that's not proof enough I don't know what is.
Thanks for yet another great video Tony love the way you get the information across and demonstrate the move perfectly great work mate 👍
That is the best demostration and explanation on how to throw the Jack Dempsey's "Drop Punch." Thank you, Tony!
Cheers for the tip
Using this kind of gazelle step gives the jab additional flavor as well.
I Love this, Now I can stomp my weight & throw it right through them! Thanks! I'll practice like I'm springing off a diving board.

I love this technique. Ramon Dekkers uses this in his combos and teaches it in his seminars.
This makes a lot of sense. This footwork is actually something used in Olympic Tae Kwon Do to close distance but I can see how effective it could be with in adding power to a straight right. Thanks for sharing
Thanks mate for leaving a comment - this helps the channel

Great video my brother
Tony, thanks for the great content on your channel. I have a question. After working on a heavy bag the next day when I do my sparring I feel like I'm very stiff. My muscles are very tight and sore. After shadow boxing, sparring and pads, there is no such thing. Maybe you can do an episode with tips on how to stay loose after working on a heavy bag. Also, our coach makes us stop working out with a heavy bag a week before a fight and I heard that many coaches practice this. Is it really effective before a fight in order to relax your muscles ?
I wish never disagree with a guy teaching that hardest punch in the world.

Your bodyweight coming forward along with proper leverage generated by the hips and torso are why this punch maximizes your power potential. This is literally the hardest you can possibly punch.

My hardest punch is the overhand because of my build. If I were to step forward with the same footwork I think it would generate more power. I could use a jab while coming in and then deliver a pretty hard and unexpected shot.
You could try this mate
It is the most expected jab combo punch.
Jack Dempsey would call that drop stepping and he said that in his book Championship Fighting,I never quite understood it though.
Me too. Tony does a nice job in showing what Jack describes in his book.

No, any technical trainer will tell you his arm movement is reminiscent of a girly slap. His arms flail and his feet dont know where they're supposed to be. He has the potential to punch though. He's knocked enough people over with his girly handbag right hand. Incredible to think what damage he could do if he could actually box.
The hardest punch and the one that does the most damage or different things though
