    You are the premed and medschool savior. Thanks for helping us every step of the way. YOU COVERED THE TOPIC I WANTED TO ASK YOU ABOUT IN THE VIDEO OMG. You are so thorough with your explanations and provide details from personal experience. I love that about you DocOssareh. I hope you know you will forever be one of the top 5 reasons I get in to Medical School (if that's the case)..

      same, but once I accidentally got up for a class an hour earlier, because it started at 9 which I had forgotten. and then I had time for breakfast, could pay more attention and looked better. so it does make sense

    Totally agree. Before attending university (I'm a late student...), I lived a pretty hectic life with fluctuant work schedual, worked evening, mornings, sometimes nights in the same week. It was hard to make a routine, to sleep and to eat, but for anything in general... and I had a lot of symptoms, like chronique fatigue, digestion problems, trouble concentrating, memory loss... it all went away when I was able to set up a routine, and I can be super efficient with my studies (studying to become a nutritionist).

    lol my body is ready to sleep 8+ hrs every day man, its weird because when i was young i'd wake up the earliest without an alarm but as I've grown up its nearly impossible to wake up early even with an alarm.

    I'm in medschool and I have no idea how to sleep 6 hours a night. Leave alone 7 hours. There just isn't time. I guess I'm horrible at managing my time. Sleep is a luxury in medschool.

      i thought the same friend, but if you sleep more you learn faster and that's how you get time, by improving not economizing

    hahahaha im in premed and i think im dying. My school is about 2 hours away from my house and my class starts at 7 am , so I leave by 5 am. Then it will end by 7pm, so i arrive at home by 9 pm. I dont know how to survive hahahah

      Malaykogago you are setting yourself up for failure, you need to be able to study, I would suggest living on campus or moving closer to campus.

    • @lightandnightEQUINOX
      @lightandnightEQUINOX 8 років тому +3

      Malaykogago had the same problem before. What i did was study after class in the library or a cafe nearby till 9pm then nap in the commute home. By 11pm you eat and prepare for sleep and wake up 4am , leave by 5 and again sleep/review during commute

      Absolutely avoid scheduling early morning class. Take classes only in the morning and be done by mid day for 1 day or take classes after mid day... Never morning to evening. This will give you the opportunity to prepare for class.

    Getting used to less sleep is an advantage. Most doctors today are so unused to less sleep and free time that they're so easily fatigued.
    Although residents in the US don't really need that because their workweek is only 80 hours.

    Its crazy how organized your undergrad was. As a junior in college I straight up don't need to do any studying unless I have tests. I just gotta do my assignments and that's good enough. And the prehealth is pretty rigorous at my school. Also its crazy how little u slept. I NEEEEED 8 hours. Like in dental school I won't Be able to run on 6-7 hours a night

    I love this. I am the type of person that needs 8-10 hours of sleep and society has put me in a place where if I sleep less, it would mean 'I was working hard.' So for two years I felt pressured to sleep for 4-5 hours like my peers and lo and behold I was diagnosed with depression. Depression was already in my family and I think sleep deprivation triggered it. Then got addicted to ambien because I was so use to the 5-6hours I didn't want to sleep and was unhappy everyday 365. So, sleep when you need it, and just kill the game when you are awake! Thanks doc

    @DocOssareh I just recently started watching your videos and they are of great help :) thankyou for taking your time out to do that. I was hoping if you could help me with this - I'm a med student from India. My college begins at 8am sharp and till 4pm in the evening. by the time I get back , I'm so exhausted that I just want to lie down but if I keep doing that , I get lagged behind with all my studies. And the other thing is I'm like super overweight which kind of makes me lazy so I took interest in gym but putting everything together , college - nap - gym - studying :( I can't seem wrap it in one in and continue :( I would very much appreciate if you could just tell me something that I could try to join all these in one without compromising my studies :)

      +Hoomes premed isn't a major. It really is just someone who plans on going to medical school. The requirements for admission into medical school are likely different in the US than outside. Premed in the US is usually 4 years of college and then applying to medical school.
