I think that was probably Kanami playing the keyboard on the backing track, she is the main piano/keyboard player, although Akane and Misa both can play the piano. They have 4 instrumentals so far, "From Now On" of course, then "Without Holding Back", "Onset" and "Don't Be Long." There are some videos out there with the band doing instrumentals to their other songs as well. They played "Shambles" live for the first time in Sacramento last night. I'm guessing they will also play it at Anaheim tonight. I hope both of you are having a great night!

Onset, Without Holding Back, Don't Be Long are available that are instrumentals. The White Room performance is total instrumental performance of Unseen World

Another instrumental song is "Hard Wash" a short PSA in which Miku shows people how to wash their hands! Thanks..Peace & Respect from Canada

I often think of the serendipity of how the group all came together. How such diverse personalities came together and helped create Miku's dream of a kickass hard rock band. How they all just melded into an almost hive mind where each one knows exactly what to do and when to do it. I'm 76 and a die-hard rocker from way back and Band Maid has brought back the classic hard rock that had pretty much died out in the US. Kanami has proven herself to be a true savant in composition and songwriting in an almost Mozart-like comparison. The odyssey of how they all came together is like something out of an old Hollywood musical like Singing In The Rain. Their musicianship is stellar and there is no real weakness in the group. They all work together in a way not seen in a long time. I've seen them three times in the last year, twice on the 2022 US Tour and once this past May, and they played From Now On at each show and it was epic each time. The sound is more raw and not so polished as the video and that makes it even better. I'm a big fan of instrumentals going back to Don Wilson and The Ventures, The Rip Chords, The Shadows from England, The Tornados and The Surfaris. In a side note, The Ventures were very popular in Japan after their first trip in 1961, I believe, and there are still Ventures Tribute bands there. You did a really nice reaction and I look forward to more of them. Keep up the good work.

We have a similar heritage. I'm 70 and grew up learning Ventures and Shadows tunes on the guitar. My first live show was the Rolling Stones in 1964. In the US there is only so much 1970-80s blues/rock that we can take these days. This is the first band, probably in the last 30 years, to be truely original in their interpretation of past genre's, creating a genre of their own. For some reason Japan and particularly Tokyo seems to be the epicentre of this. My favourite US rock band early on was Grand Funk Railroad and for progressive blues- Johnny Winter.

@@grahamreed8774 I don't know if you have listened to them, but Glim Spanky is a classic Blues rock group from Japan that evokes memories of B, S, & T pre-David Clayton-Thomas when Al Kooper was still a part of the group. They consist of vocalist/guitarist Remi Matsuo and guitarist Hiroki Kamemoto. They've been around since 2007 but I just started listening to them about a month or so ago, and they are FIRE ! Remi has a voice that is like a combination of Janis Joplin, Grace Slick and Bonnie Raitt and rocks a classic Rickenbacker and Hiroki is a throwback to guitarists like Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck and shreds with a vintage Les Paul. Band Maid has really led a Renaissance in rock for Western audiences starved for it and Glim Spanky does the same for a progressive-ish blues rock. Check out their live video of Circle of Time from their 2020 UA-cam Live Concert. It is just amazing.

@@grahamreed8774 I don't know if you are into it at all, but Japan has amazing Jazz/Funk scene that is the equal of anything here now. There are quite few US expats living and playing there.

I'm Japanese. I listen to a lot of Japanese female metal bands.
What I feel is a sense of respect for our ancestors.
They wish to be as close to them as possible.
That's why I think the old style is the basis.

Many of us recently saw Band-Maid play “From Now On” live. OMNG! Kanami riffed her ass off. And the DB’s matched the BPM’s! So FROM NOW ON, Band-Maid will grow in popularity even faster as their 2023 BAND-MAID 10TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR wraps up in the US (and Mexico!):
    DATE CITY VENUE
Aug 3 Chicago Lollapalooza After Show @ Park West
    Aug 4 Chicago, IL Lollapalooza
Aug 6 Minneapolis, MN Varsity Theater
    Aug 8 Denver, CO Summit
Aug 9 Salt Lake City, UT THE Depot
Aug 11 Portland, OR Crystal Ballroom
Aug 12 Spokane, WA Bing Crosby Theater
Aug 14 Sacramento, CA Ace of Spades
Aug 15 Anaheim, CA House of Blues Anaheim
Aug 18 Mexico City, MX PABELLÓN OESTE
In addition their recent Japan tour just concluded with 17 concerts, AND they’re writing and recording for their new album. Their 10th Anniversary Tour concludes at Japan’s 17,000 seat Yokohama Arena on Nov. 26, 2023!
The Maids are one of the hardest working super groups in the business! Their music, their sound, each of the Maids... and the love that permeates their live events is an experience not to be missed. Hope you can catch them LIVE! Thx, sandz!

WOW!!! I can't believe this is the first instrumental you've done from BAND-MAID, the group that has more incredible instrumentals than just about any band in existence! (That doesn't do just instrumentals!)
Onset (Live) is a legendary performance, right up there with Domination and Freedom!
Giovanni and Without Holding Back are both "White Room" instrumentals, with the 4 musicians doing their amazing things in all white surroundings. Both are very up tempo and, to me, are equally AWESOME. There are times during Giovanni that Mincho is going so fast, you'd swear that they sped up the vid. (Of course, they didn't)
Trust me (and I'm sure a few more down below) you will not be disappointed, er, wait, BM NEVER disappoints! Okay, any one of these will knock your socks off!! (That's better!)
Thanks again for the great reaction! 🤘🤩🤘

Saiki has been learning both piano and guitar for around 2 years I think. She has done several self covers of their songs accompanying herself either on piano or guitar which are on Band Maid Prime. Sadly it means she no longer has elaborate nails lol

Nice reaction, guys! From the interviews I've read, the writing process goes something like this: Kanami creates a rough draft for MISA & Akane to fill out and develop on their own. Of course, there's back and forth involved in that. Miku -- and increasingly Saiki -- write the lyrics. Saiki is often looked to as final arbiter when needed. I also like the new and different directions Band-Maid has been taking with UW and the Unleash EP. However, what I like is not necessarily the metal leanings, as much as some of the prog-ish explorations, which they have also delivered in many lower decibel and mid-tempo works (songs like Wonderland, Catharsis, etc.).

Other Band-Maid instrumentals are "Onset", "Without Holding Back", "Dawn Winery Theme" for starters.

I was at the Sac show and they were just on fire--as they are in pretty much every show they do. This was a highlight. The guitar/bass duel in "Hate?" was another. So was the finale, "Shambles". Actually, the whole thing was a bunch of highlights.

They have many instrument only songs . Actually you can sometimes find at least 1 on each of their albums. Their first and probably best known one is “Onset”. Also “Giovani” and maybe “Without Holding Back” to name a few. All of these songs are great as expected from these ladies. I enjoyed the reaction! Hope this was helpful and you get to enjoy more of their instrumental catalog. Keep up the good work and content 👍😃

There's an entire channel of BAND-MAID instrumentals called Instrumental Maid. I don't know if I like this or 'Without Holding Back' more. I go back and forth. Chicago was the last city on the last tour and this was supposed to be the last song, but Kanami didn't have the energy to play it. So when they played Lollypalooza there this time they opened with it. Kanami writes the songs. Then she hands the demo off to Akane & MISA for them to do their thing. Akane will often complain, "This drum part cannot be played by a human." But some how she always comes up with something great. If it's not going to be an instrumental Miku adds lyrics to it with some input from Saiki.

Kanami is the Queen of transitions...MISA is the Queen of the slides...Miku is the Queen of scrapes....Akane is the Queen of triplets...and Saiki is just a Queen. Sandz, your wife is adorable, please keep her on the show.

But "From now On" is not the only instrumental song.
They played instrumental songs such as 'On set' and 'Without Holding Back', which are very good performances.
    By the way
