Kanami's brilliance at composing music makes me stand in awe. I would love to spend a few hours in her mind to see how she creates yet another masterpiece. And she says she throws away compositions that she doesn't deem good enough which most others could only dream of ever making. A real prodigy in my opinion.
Yep, that's how feel. It's like Kanami's compositions are so dense, with the instrumentalists often all soloing different things on top of each other, that you'd think the result would be a sonic mess. Instead, you get this uniquely Band-Maid sound of complexity sounding melodic and exciting. Kanami seems to like weird sounding notes, dissonance, and oddball riffs thrown into the mix, but done in a way that fits within the overall sound. Makes things sonically interesting and unique. I don't think copying Band-Maid's sound would be easy - without a Mincho.
@@drogonr9318 It's like Dixieland Jazz, everybody going in their own direction but all somehow unified. I totally agree about Kanami's writing. I know her weirdness puts some people off but I really *really* like it. Go listen to the pop charts if you want to hear normal, usual, bland, predictable music. Kanami has her own voice and it's extremely attractive to me. You won't find anyone else writing music that sounds like her. And it's not weirdness just for weirdness' sake. She _uses_ those odd notes and dissonance to build tension. When they return for the final chorus, they release all that tension and it is *so* gratifying!
Great! I witnessed this song at Zepp DiverCity Tokyo on Sept. 7 as 12th in the setlist. Band-Maid fans there had of course already known their skills and talents. When I heard that they played this instrumental piece as opening at Saitama Super Arena on Nov.9 as support to Guns N Roses (like they did at Aftershock), I felt very proud of them. Yeah! they showed off their skills and talents to the audience who did not know who the girls in maid outfit on the stage were. I felt as if I heard them screaming "Hey guys! Listen to us and open your eyes wide! We are not the persons that you think ! Salute us!" 😄 Thanks from B-M's homeland 有難う💛。
Mincho is one of rock's most brilliant composers. For us, it's a fact, she's a genius. I want to show you proof. A genius is a person whose upper brain is constantly thinking. Whatever his area of expertise. Today I read the latest Band Maid information written by Kanami. She says the experience of the US tour gave her ideas for riffs and compositions which she recorded on her voice recorder since she hadn't brought her computer. Back in Japan, when she had to take some rest before the opening of GNR at SSA, she couldn't help but work on her PC to finalize the songs she had memorized. She says she will do her best to deliver them quickly. What more can be said. Nothing. Otherwise that Mincho is a pure genius.
Only the world slows her down, there is no way it can keep up with her. You should check out my FROM NOW ON in PHOENIX on my channel. The mix is dominated by Miku.
I agree: even for someone who's always busier than anyone would ask her to be, Kanami is really working herself and that PRS hard in this tune! I don't know if everyone would agree, but I find this song is so rich and complex that it requires a lot of listens to appreciate everything these 4 do in this song, in composing it and performing it.
As many times as I've watched this MV, I can't help loving the intro when the guitars come in. Kanami keeping her hand by her side until the very last moment, and then grabbing the neck and just launching into that heavy af riff.
It feels like I have said it a million times, but, it is still not enough. Akane is an absolute Megs Beast of a drummer! This song is a master class in composing and arranging, let alone the playing. They continue to prove that they are indeed Special!
To think that she composes a song by humming a melody a riff first,I know everybody probably knows this who is in the club, but she said in her latest letter she got so much inspiration from this tour her phone was full ideas,an amazing writer, player and human, and she's home now working on those ideas, their 10th anniversary year is going to explode with new music, thanks Ryan great review.
When the people at Platinum End requested an orchestral intro for "Sense", little did they realize they were giving Rembrandt a palette full of new colours.
Artists are always finding new ways to use ways to use new technology. From Wikipedia: The paint tube was invented in 1841 by portrait painter John Goffe Rand, which changed the way some artists approached painting. The cap could be screwed back on and the paints preserved for future use, providing flexibility and efficiency to painting outdoors. The artist Pierre-Auguste Renoir said, “Without tubes of paint, there would have been no impressionism.”
I think you have said (as many of us) we wish Kanami did longer solos many times. Well.... here we go! haha Could really see you reliving the concerts. Very happy to see so many UA-cam Maidiacs get to see them live.
For a song that is so intense and such a wall of sound, it has such tasteful pauses. The drop in the beginning is goddamn amazing, and the little pause near the end where the piano shines through brings chills every time. Band-Maid compositions are just on another level.
This song is pure genius. Kanami is the preeminent songwriter of our time. The piano over the top cannot be understated. During the outro, the piano creaates a fill and becomes more intense along with the guitars. As they close the song, correct me if I'm wrong, but as Kanami is going up the scales, Misa and Miku are playing down the scale in opposition. It's pure brilliance. Miku deserves so much credit for being the glue in this song. She just keeps carrying the rhythm throughout while the other are shining and performing solos. I was right in front of Misa in Boston and watching her perform was mermerising. I have a vid of Kanami looking right at me and Miku waving at me. They interact so well with the fans. My god, I love this band!
Really decent sound and great visuals from Vlad's cam. Great reactions, Ryan, to this truly stellar song. Other bands would play instrumentals and I'd kind of groan inside. I actually get excited to hear Band-Maid instrumentals because they are not only epic, they are genuine songs - not just indulgent noodling. I'm seeing Band-Maid live for the first time ever in three week's time. I'm flying into Tokyo to catch the Zepp Tokyo (Haneda) shows. I live in Perth, Australia, so travelling anywhere is a major deal. But, after four and a half years a Maidiac, something inside me clicked and said, "It's time to see them live." So if the mountain can't come to you, you've got to go to the mountain.
How great is it that Kanami wrote a song where she's right up front? This one more than their other instrumentals she really went all out for her own part it seems. I love that first note that screams as they start the chorus. Also, Akane's fill right after the first chorus is so awesome. I wonder if this song took its toll on Kanami though, as they cut it out of their last few shows.
I just uploaded FROM NOW ON from PHOENIX, and intentionally focused my recording so you hear lots of Miku. You can hear her 5150, straight from the amp, it dominates the mix big time. Oh there is a good Kanami focus from San Diego I put up too. One of the best I got. 5:53 Ryan goes into the "This fucking band" look, as do I. I think Kanami has always been this genius, she has just been patiently waiting for the world to get up to speed... Look out Jimmy Buffet..
Ok, so I've heard this maybe a hundred times or so since it was released in September and I just don't get tired of it, gets better every time I hear it! What a band...
The Maids played it when they opened for Guns N' Roses. Watching the fancams of the Guns N' Roses concert I realize that they can play stadiums effectively.
well folks, maybe i'm the only one but after MISA's solo the shot of Mincho just standing there like a warrior with her axe just hanging there ready for battle. i got a little scared!! also thanks to the musicians (which im not) that point out things that i would never notice. Love the Maids , one and all!!!
Ryan mate! Greetings, you are brightening the day for me when outside the rain is threatening to pour! I had been waiting for this particular reaction of yours. Such a great idea to compare the official video with Vladimir Chupin's fancam! On the official video Kanami is apparently playing the piano on a pre-recorded track and she was behind the whole arrangement including some violins. That is where and when you realize she has always had a classically trained brain to serve her into composing rock. When you are teamed up with Akane and Misa who had both a classical and jazz education, no wonder they literally break the house! Now that Miku is getting closer and closer technically to her mates (Maids!) the other three can completely free themselves into their comfort zone/"satori" trance. Actually, I would like to discern what Miku does exactly. At some points her playing is reminiscent of that in Onset. She sounds sometimes like the engine of her three-headed train. She certainly exudes an increasing confidence. Kanami has just mentioned in her Newsletter that she was really busy putting her many ideas onto tape. I am pretty certain they will come up with a new album before the 1st of April before embarking onto new tours. One day they may even consider churning out a completely instrumental album. With Saiki writing more lyrics and Misa being encouraged to compose her own pieces you can only realize that they are starting realizing their potential. They are still very young as far as music is concerned. Your comments on Kanami's and her mates/maids' eye contact and facial recognition of their fans are other reasons why their fans are so fiercely loyal. A chemistry out of the ordinary as proven by Miku's and her friends' goofing around like teenagers to the immense fun and pleasure of their mainly middle-aged audience! October was nothing, next year is going to be a blast! Take good care of yourself (ves)! Best regards, Robert-Gilles
F_cking great song, f_cking great songwriting skills, f_cking great band. Kanami is reaching a really important level of inspiration and performance. When she's in the zone, and she is always there when she's got an ax in her hands, she's an absolute prodigy. The last coda of From Now On always brings a tear to my eyes every f_cking time I hear it. That is priceless. I will always be grateful to these five girls for reawakening my love for well written music. Long live Band Maid!, long live the Queens of Rock.
This song never gets old. I heard a Bonham-like fill early in the song and thought, how does Akane match up with other great rock drummers? Arguing who’s the “best” is a waste of time because each one fits in with their own band to make a unique sound. IMO if BM were as well known as LZ, Rush or The Who, Akane would be included in the same list. Although, throwing banana peels into the audience may put her over the top. Akane was really hustling to support Kanami’s speed run.
A masterpiece to my ears. Can't wait to hear what pops out next from the musical mind of one Kanami Tono. This was just so hard rockin beautiful, and I have so much fun re-listening to it with a focus on each instrument.
Ryan, thanks for leaving in the first few takes. The thing I like about your reactions is that you are straightforward with your thoughts, and it is easy to tell, by your actions, that your comments reflex what you're feeling. This instrumental leaves me floored no matter how many times I listen to it. With all that is going on in the world and the concerns they present, it is wonderful to escape with music takes me on a little journey that leaves me joyful and reenergized.
You know, one thing I've not heard ANY reactor mention in this song is Akane's tom fills from MISA's solo to the end. They are absolutely stellar. But, then again, it IS Akane!
I love the simple presentation that this video provides. What an absolute instrumental overload with such compact and well-done composing. Live this was one of my favorites. So cool to see Kanami's fleet fingers in close action, and I have to say Misa's section is as good as any bass part I've ever heard. There is no other band making music like this.
To say I love this song is such an understatement, seeing this live, I did the same thing I do every time I listen to this one, I closed my eyes and just get carried away. Kanami is next level genius and I am just happy I live in a world with her. Great react brother.
Everytime they never disappoint. The are by far one of the greatest bands of are generation. Thanks for the reaction. You are the best Band Maid reactor Sir.
I've never heard a band that plays almost everything in 4/4 but sounds like odd time signatures. That's because Achi and Mincho are so damn talented they can slip in and out of sync at JUST the right places to give that slippery feel that messes with your head. A drum fill goes a little long or a guitar riff that starts a little early. It's all sorcery to me but I love it.
@@surfingasongwave As a Led Zep fan, I appreciate your idea. For me and you too, Band Maid is the rock band that is, in a purely musical sense, closest to Led Zep, individually and collectively.
@18:49 It's okay Ryan we get you! When I saw them I was mostly focused on Misa and I'm sure the rest of us all have one member that dominated our attention! I like to say that I have five favorite members of BAND-MAID, which is true, but damn if Misa doesn't hold me captive every single time!
Thank you, Ryan. I just wish that during Akane's massive fill mid song, the camera didn't block her work with Kanami's Amp. Nonetheless, that's a me thing. The song is captivating in video format
While i'll always have a special place in my heart for Don't Be Long, From Now On is clearly Band-Maid's best instrumental composition. All the elements are masterfully placed, and work perfectly to give that feeling of epicness, creating something truly special. Kanami and MISA are the big stars in this song, but let's not forget about Akane and Miku doing a freakin herculean job while remaining "unnoticed"... unless you're a musician or listen to every bit of the song multiple times, just like you did on this video lol Edit: the music video is also fantastic btw, awesome job at capturing the atmosphere of the song just with the minimal elements
I've come to the conclusion that this song now goes into my list of Band-Maid masterpieces along with Secret My Lips and Puzzle. This is basically Kanami showing off her genius composition skills. And as a band, every single maid simply going hard. This arrangement is heavy. They do not hold back, they do not let up. They just keep coming like a freight train. They are unstoppable. Band-Maid are on another level. I'm so happy to be alive to witness true greatness, and to have seen them perform live. This song is a masterpiece and Kanami is a gift.
A sensational song. Practically one long guitar solo with such a great foundation behind our little rock star. In some of the shots of her face & some of the stances, I swear that she is not even in the room. She is somewhere else. And watching Akane in 'Animal' mode behind the kit is just a sight to behold.
What appears to be a perfectly arranged masterpiece of musical composition to us is probably just a jam session they decided to record in 4k. I bet they were thinking about lunch the whole damn time. That’s how good they are.
Thanks! I ripped that MV from the Blu-Ray and watched it many times. I would sometimes wake up in the morning and think, "I need to hear 'from now on'!" The best view of Kanami is probably in Boston. I just rewatched it, it's amazing. The best view of MISA is in Philadelphia. Also, very bass-heavy. But the sound is very nice, I like it. You know where to download the original files, right? The links are in the description of my channel, but all links did not fit, so, I gave a reference to a Telegram post.
Vald, you should see my Phoenix cam, I am sure i got the strongest Miku audio. I think you would find it interesting to hear. "BAND MAID FROM NOW ON Miku amp focus PHOENIX OCT 19, 2022" I got a good one uploaded from San Diego also, Kanami from second row
@@TwinTailSteve Yes, I watched it. Great video! I love such recordings which allow hearing Miku more. Her rhythm guitar part is actually very interesting. Also, her guitar tone is very nice.
It's true. We don't talk enough about Miku's important work. But in the live you can see her enthusiasm when she plays. In the fancams, located in front of her, we hear the powerful sound of her guitar. Seeing her smile and shaking her pigtails is enough to make me happy.
No one can convince me that they are simply not the best band for decades! So many aspects but recently just reinforced upon me how stagnant most band’s bass and drums are in comparison to our beloved Maids.
I love how amidst all the craziness of this song, MISA has chosen all throughout to simplify her parts, and it makes them stand out. Their musical instincts are so damned good.
While we were waiting in Dallas, I watched Mu-chan doing an instrument check. MISA's Black Smoker was her #2 and it was on a stand behind her amp and cabinet. Miku's #2 was another Flappy Pigeon (I think, it was dark) on a stand behind her amp and cabinet (to Akane's right). Mincho's #2 was on a stand offstage, next to Mu-chan's station. For MISA's Black Smoker, Coco Chanel would agree - basic black is *_always_* in style. MISA uses alternate picking, which isn't ground breaking by itself (although, how many bassists do much flat-picking), and she uses the upstroke to give a syncopated feel to her lines. It's really noticeable in her solo.
Public speaking 101. pulll the crowd in by not focusing on one person. Make every one a part of the conversation by looking around the audience. Thinking that by acknowledging the audience is what band maid does well. Saiki and Mike do that well during the speaking parts of the show and while singing
I feel like Miku is the baseline for Kanami's composition... As Miku improves and is able to play more advanced stuff, it frees up Kanami to compose more complex progressive stuff. Imagine what would happen when Miku starts to do picking solos?
Clearly Miku’s part in earlier instrumentals like Onset, for example, are much simpler than what she’s doing here, so definitely some level of truth to your thoughts. But I also think all of the other three have improved as well. Even if Miku could have held done these parts in 2018, for example, I don’t think they’d have written a song this high-level. My two cents. 🤷🏻♂️✌🏼🤘🏼
There is one song where Miku's given 2 notes to pluck and bend... It always gets me thinking what if Miku started to do a bit of plucking and tapping solos.... That could totally transform Kanami's options for composition... I'm sure Miku could do it now...
Great reaction Ryan You should have played the outro one more time to pay attention to Saiki 😁 My favorite part is the intro, before the strings and keys came in. I really would like to hear this song without them, a kind of raw version of it. "without holding back" is still my favorite instrumental but "from now on" is a close second. Thank you Ryan
A discussion somewhere mentioned an alternate ending for the video. After the last note Saiki appears in the shadows, regally walks out, picks up her microphone, inhales, and .
"I hope you don't mind, I'm going to listen to it again." Like the rest of us haven't been doing that for the past few days? Awesome piece. Chuffed when they finally put it officially on YT. Such a wonderful composition, so many layers, and the mix is fantastic. Mincho so much higher in the mix than usual, making it all feel so much clearer.
when I made the MIDI of this, I realized there were 7 occurrences of “descending chromatic progressions” in this song. These are very satisfying to the ear, they stimulate an emotional release. Very well done, from a songwriting standpoint.
@@RyanMear Well... every time I make a MIDI, I basically immerse myself in a song for 5-7 days. By the time I publish it, I'm sick of the song and need a break from it. That usually lasts a week and then I'm in love with the song again. HAHA.
I'm a simple man... I see Ryan reacting to Band-Maid... I hit like. I don't think I can add anything to how amazing this song is. I will say I've shown it to some not-yet-Band-Maid-fans and the thing that seems to stick out to those people is Akane. With one of my friends asking "How do her arms not fall off?" :D
Finally I can check out your video! Love the intro outtakes! ... So relatable :P So I have to say, seeing this song performed live was incredible! Live was my first experience with this song. The feeling of everything seeing/hearing/feeling it live is something I cannot really describe. I compared this song to a wave crashing down when everyone stops and Kanami keeps playing, that wave builds up and then it crashes down as all the instruments come back. Really the song is very impressive, there are so many intricate parts, essentially a lot of things to fck up while playing live lol... Idk how Kanami does it. Miku REALLY held the song down allowing Kanami to just go insane! Miku really is the glue of the band and this song. I wish this video showed a bit more of Miku, thats my only complaint with it ^^ I love watching your videos to get a "musicians" perspective on the songs. Its always fun to see what bits other people pick up on.
They are all good at seeing their fans. At one point Saiki was singing she look right at me and I gave just a small wave, she winked in response. They just know people will remember those things.
@@RyanMear I damn near did! It happened fast she was singing and I suddenly realized she was looking right at me. (when our eyes met). I just reflexively just gave a small wave., while at the same time thinking holy shit she's looking at me. I'm glad I wasn't an idiot and didn't notice.
Such an amazing song! It seems instrumentals have died out some over the decades - back 30yr ago they were quite common in metal bands but less now.. I wonder if a good instrumental is harder to write than a song with singing, or are they not as popular? BMs instrumentals are popular with fans tho.. and I seem to remember some amazing instrumentals we all liked back then.. so not sure why they got less common.
Cool long form song breakdown 👍 It's the most fan cam'D track I think. Consistency is whats evident. The aftershock rendition is the most special first time played in front of an audience correct if I'm wrong. First time american crowd hearing the band first time at a overseas festival ? ten years ten thousand hours of chasing a dream . A band in their optimus prime .
They played it in Japan on their warm up dates before going to the US. I think the first time was even before the EP was released and the Japanese fans were like "what the hell was that"!
I LOVED this.. even though I miss SAIKI .. just crazy beautiful. I loved your comment to Kanami about being sorry.. while you focus on the others 😁 loyalty ❤️
mincho-zilla's melody vocabulary is uncanny. she holds tight to her 'trigger the emotions' rule, making choice notes burn in the listener's head without ever reaching peak auditory satiety/saturation. i won't be surprised if at one point in time she paid attention to trevor rabin and john sykes.
I actually was kind of iffy about that "epic orchestra" keyboard sound at first because a lot of bands seem to have been using it lately, to the point where it was becoming sort of a trope. But the thing is, it's just appropriate for Band-Maid's epic composition, instead of merely being added to make a "regular" song sound more epic.

As many times as I've watched this MV, I can't help loving the intro when the guitars come in. Kanami keeping her hand by her side until the very last moment, and then grabbing the neck and just launching into that heavy af riff.
YES!!
Yeah, it reminds me of a master swordsman's iai-nuki (like a gunslinger's quick draw.)
Yes it was power stance
言葉を絞り出して感動を伝えようとする、それがライアンさんなのだ。
It feels like I have said it a million times, but, it is still not enough. Akane is an absolute Megs Beast of a drummer! This song is a master class in composing and arranging, let alone the playing. They continue to prove that they are indeed Special!
Yeah… I love it too.
Nice breakdown.
Thanks and yes, it is going to be fun
I just wrote almost the same thing, I had not read your comment. My apologies Larry.
Absolutely, Larry!
When the people at Platinum End requested an orchestral intro for "Sense", little did they realize they were giving Rembrandt a palette full of new colours.
Very true! Your comment make my day, thx.
Great comment Tiny Hat, so true!
Beautiful...
Having seen them do this song live on the US Tour, knowing how great it is live, is awesome!
They are turning into one of most important and greatest bands in rock history.
Yep I do enjoy a rewatch of Ryan and BAND -MAID 😃👍🍻
I think you have said (as many of us) we wish Kanami did longer solos many times. Well.... here we go! haha
Could really see you reliving the concerts. Very happy to see so many UA-cam Maidiacs get to see them live.
Quite possibly the best instrumental I have ever heard.
Band Maid are a beautiful machine. Great reaction 🤘
You were right, Kanami really speaking🎸
Ryan, I love it when a music video makes you smile like a fool. They are awesome! In your words "This Fuckin' band!!!".
We Never Mind Going Back In!!! 🤘😍🤘 This Groove is Beyond Amazing!
There are times when Kanami looks like she is in a trance and on another world. Man would I love to visit that world!
Great reaction video Ryan.
Close your eyes and surf on the song wave!
I love this comment because I feel you so much.
I agree.
You call it satori/悟り in Japanese!
Indeed, her mind is in orbit..
We all just recently saw the four Maids play “From Now On” live. OMNG! Kanami riffed her ass off. And the BPM’s matched the DB's! 😶🌫Thx, Ryan!
I'm 71 seeing BM May 15 in Austin and then then and only then can I die happy.
well folks, maybe i'm the only one but after MISA's solo the shot of Mincho just standing there like a warrior with her axe just hanging there ready for battle. i got a little scared!!
also thanks to the musicians (which im not) that point out things that i would never notice.
Best regards,
Robert-Gilles
Great comment, thanks 👍🍻🍻
Thank you, Robert-Gilles!! Nice to hear from you again🤘
@@brunobryant4846 Cheers, mate!
This song was such a beast live... it left "onset" in the dust, and I *love* onset!
Thanks, Joe!
I was blessed to watch them play this and onset back to back..unreal talent.
That was amazing and an eye opener to how they've come!
When I saw them in Seattle, I was very impressed with just how far Miku has come. The whole band is amazing.
Everytime they never disappoint. The are by far one of the greatest bands of are generation. Thanks for the reaction. You are the best Band Maid reactor Sir.
Thank you!
*Kanami (Mincho) Tono* is a Virtuosos 😊
I had really hoped they would play this one at Chicago, but given how amazing that show was I can't be disappointed.
They did that set in Philly, not sure if it was in that order but I remember hearing all 3 of those live and was so happy.
Yes, great point
I know they don't really do covers, but "Black Dog" would be fertile soil for them to play in.
@@surfingasongwave As a Led Zep fan, I appreciate your idea. For me and you too, Band Maid is the rock band that is, in a purely musical sense, closest to Led Zep, individually and collectively.
The pure power of passionate emotion.
I would lose sight of Kanami sometimes at the Dallas show. I figured out later was because she was in her rock stance.
80% of Band-Maid at 95% power!!
This is an absolute battering ram!!
This the music to an epic victory over insurmountable odds.
Kanami and MISA are the big stars in this song, but let's not forget about Akane and Miku doing a freakin herculean job while remaining "unnoticed"... unless you're a musician or listen to every bit of the song multiple times, just like you did on this video lol
Edit: the music video is also fantastic btw, awesome job at capturing the atmosphere of the song just with the minimal elements
This was quite unexpectedly my favorite song when I saw them live. It just freaking smoked!
If I made this song my ringtone, I would never answer my phone
Great review Ryan
Haha. So there'd be no point me phoning you then to ask if you had the new "From Now On" ringtone.🤔
@@GaryHolloway-810 Sorry I can't answer while Mincho's Talking
I made a ringtone out of the solo for Daydreaming and I haven’t talked to anyone in a year. MediaConvert app works well with UA-cam videos.
The start of this song (IMO) is one of the most powerful pieces of rock music I have ever heard 🤘
Kanami letting out her inner beast with this instrumental......."From Now On I will fucking shred all the way!"
Thanks!
I ripped that MV from the Blu-Ray and watched it many times. I would sometimes wake up in the morning and think, "I need to hear 'from now on'!"
The best view of Kanami is probably in Boston.
Yep, thank you!
Band Maid Archivist! Will never thank you enough!
@@ロベルさん菜園 My pleasure! 🙏 🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊
Vald, you should see my Phoenix cam, I am sure i got the strongest Miku audio. I think you would find it interesting to hear. "BAND MAID FROM NOW ON Miku amp focus PHOENIX OCT 19, 2022"
I got a good one uploaded from San Diego also, Kanami from second row
@@TwinTailSteve Yes, I watched it. Great video!
I love such recordings which allow hearing Miku more. Her rhythm guitar part is actually very interesting. Also, her guitar tone is very nice.
MISA MISA MISA!!!!! My only gripe with the MV is the Lack of Love for Miku in the Live version You could SEE how MUCH she does
It's true. We don't talk enough about Miku's important work. But in the live you can see her enthusiasm when she plays. In the fancams, located in front of her, we hear the powerful sound of her guitar. Seeing her smile and shaking her pigtails is enough to make me happy.
Composition, technicalities, execution it is quintessential band-maid....
Kanami/Mincyo has beautiful fingers. Hard rock sounds out from beautiful fingers.
Complex and symphonic. They seem quite proud of this. Commonly played and they opened all their festival shows with it.
She's been playing nearly a decade, I'm not surprised by Miku's abilities anymore....I just appreciate them!
@Eno L I’ve made this comment before, your concurring validates that I’m not actually crazy. Thanks so much for that.
We agree, do we not? LOL
There is one song where Miku's given 2 notes to pluck and bend... It always gets me thinking what if Miku started to do a bit of plucking and tapping solos.... That could totally transform Kanami's options for composition... I'm sure Miku could do it now...
This a Master Class in music composition.
Great reaction Ryan
You should have played the outro one more time to pay attention to Saiki 😁
My favorite part is the intro, before the strings and keys came in.
I love how this bookends with Dawn Winery. I know that sounds crazy but it works.
all band-maid is cool, and something to learn from!
Awesome review...please do more live reviews...tell us about it!!!
"I hope you don't mind, I'm going to listen to it again."
Like the rest of us haven't been doing that for the past few days?
Awesome piece. Chuffed when they finally put it officially on YT. Such a wonderful composition, so many layers, and the mix is fantastic. Mincho so much higher in the mix than usual, making it all feel so much clearer.
when I made the MIDI of this, I realized there were 7 occurrences of “descending chromatic progressions” in this song.
These are very satisfying to the ear, they stimulate an emotional release. Very well done, from a songwriting standpoint.
You know these songs better than a lot of people!
@@RyanMear Well... every time I make a MIDI, I basically immerse myself in a song for 5-7 days. By the time I publish it, I'm sick of the song and need a break from it. That usually lasts a week and then I'm in love with the song again. HAHA.
LOL
Respect the process. Lol.
LOL
Finally I can check out your video!
Love the intro outtakes! ... So relatable :P
So I have to say, seeing this song performed live was incredible!
I wish this video showed a bit more of Miku, thats my only complaint with it ^^
I love watching your videos to get a "musicians" perspective on the songs. Its always fun to see what bits other people pick up on.
Thanks Shreddawg!!
Mincho who composed this song is a genius!😝♪♪♪👍🎸
Thank you I like your reaction
I like how Kanami chokes it and shakes it again after undoing it
This is Band Maid's love letter to Akane Hirose. We tend to focus on Kanami, but she and Misa keep framing the rhythm. Quintessential Band Maid.
They are all good at seeing their fans. At one point Saiki was singing she look right at me and I gave just a small wave, she winked in response.
They just know people will remember those things.
Yep, she is really good at that. If you sing to her and she notices, she will sing right back to you. You'll get a wink or a thumbs up. Heart melting.
Did you die?
@@RyanMear I damn near did! It happened fast she was singing and I suddenly realized she was looking right at me. (when our eyes met). I just reflexively just gave a small wave., while at the same time thinking holy shit she's looking at me.
I'm glad I wasn't an idiot and didn't notice.
What's above "Goddess Tier"? Whatever it is, "from now on" is in it. GREAT review, Ryan! 🕊
Thanks Ryan!
Instrumentals do not appeal to common listener I think, so they are rarely featured by bands.... BAND-MAID gonna BAND-MAID though!!
Genius level: Set

Cool long form song breakdown 👍
It's the most fan cam'D track I think.

What ya think Ryan Music Video of the Year? Such a Phenomenal Instrumental. These Ladies just blow me away with their Amazing Musicianship.
This band is reawakening rock all by themselves
mincho-zilla's melody vocabulary is uncanny. she holds tight to her 'trigger the emotions' rule, making choice notes burn in the listener's head without ever reaching peak auditory satiety/saturation. i won't be surprised if at one point in time she paid attention to trevor rabin and john sykes.
ありがとうございます!
❤❤❤❤ Carlos Santana -riffs -her idols licks and riffs unmistakable-love you Kanami/Micho
I wouldn't mind if Band-Maid had a keyboardist. I know a lot of pure rock/metal fans hate the synth but it does sound really nice here.
It is used a LOT in their music.... Probably because that's Kanami's roots musically!! Many compositions start with her on piano!
