Now this is what makes watching reactions worthwhile. Making me happy for five years, this band. Just wait until you hear how their lead singer is just as f'ing awesome!! They have ten years of material - and they are incredible composers, musicians and people. They worth their asses off and they are incredibly good. And a live show? You haven't lived until you've seen them live - seriously.

It's so rare for a first reaction to Band-Maid to be one of their instrumental songs. But they are amazing whether it's instrumental or they're singing. Their lead singer is amazing.
When people try to compare them with others or figure out what genre it is, the answer is Band-Maid. They are their own genre. But to be fair, there's a lot of 80s and 90s rock in their sound.
You cannot not love Band-Maid! One song and you are hooked, they are a world class rock band, write amazing songs and play as well as anybody. Supertight, flawless, amazing.

Another Instrumental of theirs is "Onset". There's an official LIVE. There's also "Don't Be Long" but only a fancam. Good quality though. Something with their lead vocalist, maybe "Shambles" or "Sense". Thank you! You will absolutely enjoy listening to them I believe. They are very technical.

Welcome to Band-Maid! The best hard rock band I have heard in my 58 years on this planet. They don't stick to any one genre and often mix genres in songs. They are extremely diverse and have an extensive back catalogue featuring Punk, Pop-Punk, Hard-Rock, Classic Rock, Metal, Prog, Blues, Jazz, Groove, Rap etc. From face melting 220 bpm punk-prog to ballads, instrumentals to acoustics they do it all. They can make you headbang, they can make you pogo, they can make you cry like a baby. They are also five of the nicest people in music, without a shred of ego. They are funny and fun and world class musicians to boot. They are currently into their 11th year with the original line up.
Btw, Miku the rhythm guitarist (red rose) formed the band. She had the idea of Band-Maid after working as a maid in Japanese maid cafe's. Her idea is a concept called "The Gap" - that is what you see (cute maids) is NOT what you get (Hard Rock/Punk/Metal). They take the maid café concept literally. They call their concerts "servings" and their fans "Masters and Princesses". Oh, and Miku is an 810 year old small pigeon. Welcome to the pigeon hole Po!

Kanami, the songwriter, has a classical piano background, and you can tell she uses that experience in her songwriting. She really understands how to use music to tell a story and evoke emotions.
Regarding the "uniforms," they've taken to calling the costumes their "battle gear." They all take on a different mindset and personality when they're on stage. Like, Kanami and (lead singer) Saiki are very shy in their personal life, but are decided NOT shy on stage.

I'm 75s years old and have seen a lot of rock bands from the iconic to the not so well known.They are one of the best rock band to come along in decades. These five young Japanese females are incredibly talented, versatile, and professional. You mentioned a battle, so I suggest your react to "Hate?", the official live video. When you listen to the song (that does have lyrics) make sure you turn on the closedc-aptioned lyrics. There is a battle during the song (between the bass and the lead guitar). You will LOVE IT!!!!! Band-Maid defies genres in their music. We Maidiacs (that's what Band-Maid fans call ourselves) simply call the sound Band-Maid music.

Pretty much anything on their official channel is going to be good. They only have one other instrumental on there, a live performance of "Onset".
There are several songs that are slower and more mellow, including "Bestie" (MV) co-written with Mike Einziger of Incubus, "Memorable" (MV) a love letter to their fans, "About Us" (online live show), also a love letter to the fans, and "Endless Story", which has a lovely MV shot on a volcanic island but there is also a great live version which was the grand finale of their 10th Anniversary Tour - watch with the CC on. Also there are two videos from the online acoustic show they put out on Christmas day 2021, very stripped down and relaxed version of "Catharsis" and "Sayonakidori". That last one features a lead vocal from Band Founder/2nd guitar/2nd vocals Miku Kobato. Bestie, Catharsis and Sayonakidori all feature the band members NOT wearing their standard maid outfits (shock horror!)
They have two other instrumentals on their official channel besides "Onset" and "From Now On", but they are audio only. Click where it says Releases and on the YOLO single there is the instrumental version of "YOLO" (plus the B-sides "Unfair Game" and "Matchless Gum"), and the Different single has "Don't Be Long".

The band was founded in 2013 by Miku, rhythm guitar and vocals. She worked in a maid café and came up with the idea of playing hard rock music while wearing maid clothes. “An impossibly hard rock rocking maid band.”

They perform instrumentals during their 2 hour shows to give Saiki, the lead singer, a well deserved break. I'm 63 and Band Maid has brought the enjoyment of music back.
If i can suggest you for the first song with thw singer i suggest the song "hate?" live from Yokohama center, release in november for their last show of their 10 th anniversary tour.

The Pigeonhole is deep and full of great music, I hope you continue the journey. As many have said, "Hate?" is a great next step, their singer is there. They do sing mostly in Japanese, but they throw in a lot of English lyrics from song to song, and have a few songs that are entirely in English.
These very talented ladies are, at their core, the very best hard rock band on the planet today (imo of course) but they do have some range and will go from very groovy, to very chaotic punk, to very complex prog, to mellow ballads and everything in between and I'm sure I've forgotten a bunch. They also have an unbelievable ability to write catchy choruses that get stuck in your brain. An impressive feat for doing it in a language I can't understand. They've been at it for more than a decade, have a catalogue that beggar's belief and have more music on the way this year.

You have opened the floodgates. They may be the best rock group in the world today (I think they are). They are certainly the most creative band since the Beatles, and they are top-tier musicians.
I saw many of the classic rock bands - Purple, Zeppelin, Queen, Santana, many more, all in their heyday. I’ve seen Band-maid three times and their performances stand up to any of those legendary bands.
You are going to get a lot of suggestions. First, a little background on the band:
Saiki Atsumi - Lead vocals Born Feb 8, 1994
MISA - Bass Born Oct 15, 1992
Kanami Tono - Lead guitar, Main composer and arranger Born Sept 28, 1991
Miku Kobato - Rhythm guitar, backing vocal Born Oct 21, 1991
Akane Hirose - Drums Born Dec 14, 1990
Miku was working in a Maid Café after being in an idol group that didn’t break through. She envisoned the idea of a maid-band that plays hard rock and metal. She recruited Kanami, after finding a Kanami guitar cover on line; Kanami then recruited Akane, who recruited MISA. Akane and MISA had been students together at the Tokyo Music Academy. The group decided they needed more vocal “oomph”, and collectively recruited Saiki. Miku didn't know how to play guitar when they started, so Kanami has been teaching her. She's become good so fast that she is really adding to the music mix, and Maidiacs are daring to dream of a dual shred.
The band was struggling early on, and in 2014, even as the label was considering dropping them, they posted the music video for “Thrill” which went viral globally. When they realized what was going on, it gave them the momentum to forge ahead, and they have now done multiple tours of Europe and the U.S. and are building a global fanbase who call themselves the Maidiacs.
They have released seven full albums, as well as several EPs, singles and music videos. They have put out around 170 songs, covering a wide variety of styles and sounds, without any duds. They combine a punk vibe with instrumental virtuosity (two things that are often seen as being incompatible), and have done some amazing progressive-rock songs and ballads with a metal edge to them.
They toured the U.S. in 2022 and sold out 14 cities in less than 48 hours. They followed it up with a 2023 tour which had to be expanded from their original plans. Their fan base skews heavily to actual practicing musicians. Some of those followed the band to multiple dates and documented everything on youtube-some of the footage is hilarious.
I’ve seen them in 2019, 2022 and 2023. Their shows are truly life-reaffirming. So far no announcements of another European tour but it seems likely in 2024.
Band-Maid are that rare band that sound perfect live, even better than in the studio. Sugoi! I'm 67 years old and have seen almost every pop, punk, rock, and metal band worth a damn in the last 55 years. I've seen BAND-MAID twice, and they are not to be missed LIVE. They are the most entertaining, hardest rocking, audience interactive and just plain FUN band I've witnessed - and that's with a language barrier! Imho, they're currently the best rock band on the planet regardless of gender. More please! Btw, other mostly all-female Japanese bands you should check out; BABYMETAL, GACHARIC SPIN, LOVEBITES, TRIDENT, NEMOPHILA, MAXIMUM THE HORMONE, HANABIE, etc.

Band maid is mainly hard rock as this song is, though do have groove and even into metal for some songs. They have well over 100 songs, about 7 or 8 of them are instrumentals all like this, they use these during concerts to give their lead singer a break in the middle of their typical 22 song concerts. The lead singer was not in the video, there are 5 members with her. Everything they do is like this, extreme musical talent, the lead guitarist write all of the music, the rhythm guitarist is the band founder and writes the lyrics. The awesome thing with this band is they play as well as you saw, live I have seen it myself a couple of times when they have toured the USA. That base player Misa is unreal, this song didnt really showcase her skill with tucking that pick to instant switch between picking and slapping. Suggest Domination live, the live double video of Manners and Black hole, Blooming, Influencer but really any song you choose will be great but Live is always the best option because it is rare to have a band that can play live likethey do.

Band- Maid is like no other band on this planet.. they are a genre po!
They have instrumentals as well but mainly songs. The lead singer has the powerful voice with amazing sense of rhythm, even though the lyrics are mainly in Japanese, consider it as another instrument.
Welcome to Band-Maid. Check out Shambles, Influencer,...ect. Just pick anything and you'll be good. Live is usually the best way to go with them.

It NEVER ENDs with these bands out of Japan. Band-Maid is IMO the best. But do not be afraid to click on YT recommendations as you watch Band-Maid videos.
They've got a few instrumentals. This one is the tightest, but you should also check out Onset.
Well, you have started the Japanese journey with the best band in the world. You can pick any song of theirs, and eventually you will hear their amazing vocalist. I am 55 and 90% of what I listen to are Japanese bands. Bands like Bridear, Nemophila,TRiDENT,Asterism, WagakkiBand, Divibe and Glim Spanky all very unique sounds, and some use a bit of English. This is a very short list. Would also recommend checking out Rolling Quartz from Korea and The Warning from Mexico.

The Maids have in excess of 100 songs which are all great. If you can find the live version of Without Holding Back (another of their instrumentals) it’s worth a listen.

Hi all! Great to see you checking out Band Maid. You put your fingers on a number of key points. The gap between appearance and music is the idea of their founder and rhythm guitarist, Miku. They have four or five anime songs, including "Shambles" and "Sense." They also have other instrumentals, "Onset" and "Without Holding Back." I've been listening to them for three years and I put them in the same class as Led Zeppelin, Motorhead, and Jethro Tull. And even better, they sound just like this in their live shows (I've only seen them four times but getting my passport renewed.) Japan has a ton of metal and rock bands, many all-female, so there's a lot to keep you busy. Cheers.
03:13 ; What she says is exactly right. Miku (rhythm guitar this time) worked in maid cafe but dreamed of the spotlights. She convinced the entertainment agency she had signed with to let her put a band together. With frilly maid outfits and killer rock music.
