I used to feel the exact same way about Taylor . Watching her Reputation Tour on Netflix won me over . Love her or hate her there no denying she’s mad talented . “All Too Well” 10 minute version is fantastic and she directed the video herself . It’s certainly worth a watch …I feel like you guys will appreciate her as an artist .
I'm so glad you guys are doing this!! Her sound may not be your favourite, but her lyrics alone are genius! So be sure to have the lyrics up while listening, And it would be great if you do the 3a.m. version of the album!
Keep in mind she’s the only female artist ever to win AOTY 3 times, and the only artist to do it in 3 different genres. She’s a songwriter first, singer second, but her voice is so unique I’m drawn to it. Every song has a story, whether it’s serious or carefree, and if you’ve followed her for awhile, u understand her as a human not just an artist
her albums are all very diverse in sound (she's done many genres throughout her career) and her lyrics and storytelling is phenomenal couldn't be more excited that yall are checking her out like you guys did with harry!!
english isn’t my first language but i’m gonna try to express myself the best i can! i’m a huge taylor swift fan and obviously i love her job, i believe you guys would like her folk albums folklore and evermore and maybe some of her country stuff! her storytelling is out of this world and i know you guys would appreciate! I would like to explain more stuff but i’m not comfortable with the language 😂
I’m always happy to see people react to taylor for the first time with an open mind. She’s a brilliant lyricist. One thing I would recommend keeping in mind is context- with each album she explains in a blurb the context for the album and that’s really important and answers a lot of questions you may have. Lastly, I personally love midnights but it may be hard to understand a lot of references if you haven’t been a fan for a while! Overall I hope you really enjoy your tswift journey :)
It’s nearly impossible that any human on this planet has not heard a single TS song. They are everywhere and I bet you would be surprised if you went through her top hits. I personally love Midnights and think it’s smart and mature but every fan is going to tell you a better album to listen to. They are all good in their own ways. The key to appreciating her is to follow along with the lyrics because she is inarguably the greatest pop lyricist of her generation. Guess I’m going to join discord now 🕳🏃🏻♀️
Honestly, wish you started with Folklore (it won AOTY for a reason). It is her storytelling & lyricism at its best. Followed then by Evermore, the folklore sister album she dropped 6 mos after folklore which was nominated for AOTY.
Her last tour was the largest crossing tour in the U.S and it was 2018 so now there was 14 million ppl waiting in the pre sale for her tour she released 6 albums and been 4 years since she toured
I started to actually listening to her songs (actually, I mean, not just 22, Shake it off or another 1989 single on the radio. Yes, those were nice, but that was it) when by accident I stumbled on "All too Well", Red, and another 3 or 4 songs (never singles) on youtube. It was just prior to Reputation (I didn´t know anyting about her life, or the Kanye mess, nothing). It was just the lyrics, those songs. And then Reputation arrived. And the masters/SB mess. And here we are. I think she is a brilliant songwriter, a brilliant mind crafting her own personal musical universe, and brilliant with marketing too (that move owning the snakes as her own symbol for that album is a masterclass that could be on Mad Men). But above all, it´s the lyrics. And how ones (from one album) connect to other ones (from older ones).
I hope you’ll end up loving her as an artist and I’m so glad you are trying to go into this with an open mind. I’ve been a swiftie since I was 5 (when she released her debut album) so she’s been a massive part of my life and I absolutely adore her as a person/woman and as an artist. However, despite my love for her, I will say that at times some swifties give all of the fandom and Taylor a bad image. It’s mainly out of love for her and because of how fiercely protective we can be over her since she has received so much unnecessary hate simply for existing at times, but even I think there’s a level of absurdity that comes along with some of the fans and it can be extreme sometimes. So what I’m trying to say is just be warned that some people might not be the most respectful of your opinions if you don’t like a song or something lol, but try to keep in mind that they don’t represent the majority of us. Also, please try to pay as much attention to her lyricism as possible. That really is where the beauty of her work truly lies and she’s an incredible story teller. The last thing I’ll say is this: please keep in mind that even if it sounds like a relationship or breakup song, it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a real experience Taylor is writing about, And most of the time (especially now that she’s very much in love and has been for 7 years) its a story she’s either created herself or that she’s watched unfold in her friends lives, etc. I’m sorry for the long comment 😅 I look forward to seeing your reactions :)
Midnights is not my favourite album but I think it’s quite an accessible place to start. What makes Taylor special it’s her lyrics and her storytelling ability so I’d say always look out for that :)
We'll only be doing the standard edition for this reaction but if you'd like to request any of those songs feel free to check out our Patreon. The link is in the description.

Ok! 3 am tracks blow the other 13 out of the water IMO. She worked with Aaron Desner from the National on those as well as her Folklore/Evermore albums. If you don’t enjoy Midnights, I definitely think you should check those two albums out. Different feel. And song writing is out of this world.
This isn’t surprising atall. We have reached a day and age when there are dedicated fan bases for these artists, moreover billboard now has credits for streaming and radio airtime on top of sales. So yes who can purchase the records are purchasing them but the others are streaming and playing the hell out of these songs. My prediction is, every time a major artist releases a new song/LP/album from now on, we are going to have new records being broken. It happened with Harry’s House and As It Was and with Taylor’s midnights. And she won’t be the last one. Next time when Ariana Grande releases something it’s going to be record breaking as well. Secondly the management these artists have are extremely influential and financially gracious. They pay the radio stations a lot of money to air the songs. Some of the lesser artists may have better songs but due to these two factors their songs may not do as well. My 2cents thats all!
I agree with you up to a point, lots of fan bases put the artists straight in at number 1, but then they can drop right out of the top 100 the following week, especially here in the UK, one example is 5SOS5 straight to number 1 then disappeared the next week, which is sad because it is a brilliant album, Then you have Fine Line by Harry Styles that entered the charts at number 3 has never managed number 1 after 8 weeks went up to number 2, the album has not dropped out of the top 50 in 152 weeks, this week it climbed back to number 34, I assume that means lots of "older people" like me are getting into Harry and us older generation tend to buy hard copies not stream, sorry that was a bit of a mouthful 🤣 going back to Taylor I have give her albums a try, but she is not my cup of tea, she doesn't do as well in the UK as in America, her album went in at number 1 but then was knocked off by Drake, he will probably be knocked off today by Louis Tomlinson's new album.
Just an update of my prediction, yes Louis went in at number 1, Bruce Springsteen went in at number 2, pushing Taylor and Drake down to 3 & 4, it will all start to change now, the Dreaded Christmas albums and Singles will take over ☹☹
I've felt mostly ambivalent to Taylor Swift. I don't hate her. In her early career she had one or two ok songs. But I have attempted to listen a whole Swift album myself and I do not understand why she is so popular. Of her later, the songs I ended up liking I found were written by other people. I don't like her lyrics (also don't understand why she had some kind of lyric editor?? Maybe I heard that wrong) the melodies are OK... sometimes, when she doesn't stay on one note the whole time. I will say the production of her songs are usually pretty good. So. Looking forward to your journey with her as I'll be giving her work one final chance. 👍
uhmm.. She writes all her songs, she has 1 or 2 co-writers most of the time but mostly they are the producers, she gives them writing credit, they add some lyrics. But Taylor writes all her songs. Maybe just not your taste but its okay.
@michelle This is my opinion, and what I knew about her music at the time. Yes, many of her songs were co-written. I see that now. On the whole, what I've enjoyed has been the production of her songs. I don't understand why you are upset, as I thought I ended on a positive note.

Epic comment given four months ago she won it a fourth time, announcing TTPD which is a lyric powerhouse!
she’s such a good lyricist and almost every album sounds different, her music is great

Her lyrics are literally amazing. She’s an amazing lyricist and I’ve been a fan since day one. All her albums are amazing!! Keep an open mind 100%
Taylor is so good with her lyrics, her songs on folklore album are like poems. I think u'll enjoy that album.
the answer is yes
Her last tour was the largest crossing tour in the U.S and it was 2018 so now there was 14 million ppl waiting in the pre sale for her tour she released 6 albums and been 4 years since she toured

First time watcher. Immediate subscribe during the "Girl You Know It's True" intro.
Lololol. That’s awesome

Personally not a fan of the new album, but she is a fantastic writer, and I think it shows on a lot of her stuff.

Love her or hate her she is something else in the music industry her lyrics and performing is the best
Been a fan since 2008!! She’s the real deal!
Plz do react to her Midnights (3AM Edition) if you're gonna react to it... There r extra 7 songs that are not available in the standard edition.
We'll only be doing the standard edition for this reaction but if you'd like to request any of those songs feel free to check out our Patreon. The link is in the description.
I LOVE Taylor!! My next request was going to be her 🤣
Love this reaction!!! Please do 3 am songs and all too well 10 min version please!

I’m not a fan of her music but I’m a fan of her and all she’s fought through and Achieved.
It’s so weird to watch this after watching your more recent videos where you’re Swifties
Not too familiar with her or her work, but my husband band all her music from our house. Lol... Don't know why, but, oh well.

@@W0rdsandMus1c Perfectly written, I agree warmly👍
im expecting you to pls react to her most recent album MIDNIGHT
We did. It got blocked on UA-cam
It’s on our patreon
I love Taylor Swift but I was disappointed in this album. Out of her 10 albums, personally, I'd rank this one 8 or 9.
