Great reaction guys. Enjoyed this one a lot. Thank you so much for adding your insight to this conversation
Guys I am a 62 yo man who discovered TS through bonnie and emily of chats and reacts on youtube during covid.. Its the lyrics at the core and killer melodies. the hits are pop masterpieces and that cant be denied. its the non-hits that will grab you and take you on a great journey. she understands the human condition as good as anyone ever. i worship at the altar of mccartney/thebeatles stevie wonder joni mitchell carol king paul simon motown etc. she is i think the artist of her generation. as george martin once said of the beatles, they were of their time and so is taylor. SHOUT OUT TO BONNIE AND EMILY OF CHATS AND REACTS. THEY TEACH COLLEGE LEVEL COURSES ON TAYLOR AND THEY ARE JUST SO ENGAGING.
Welp. We are just us. Hope you’ll stick around
i sure will. I enjoy reactors who are honest about what they listen to or watch. It all began for me, the deep dive, starting with Folklore and Evermore which blew me away and then there was Red. fng wow. Reputation is fantastic. Enjoy them I have no doubt you will.
Yes! I love Bonnie and Emily… and of course TAYLOR 😊
@Celina Sharp they are so cool cause they are 100% themselves in their videos and I love watching their videos cause I personally don't have friends that are swifties (or at least not as much as I am) and so I watch them be just as feral as me about taylor's music and it feels AMAZING! They freak out and I'm talking to my screen like "I KNOW RIGHT??!?!!!"
@@djenae2852 i love reading positive comments about people who are passionate about harmless things😍
Seeing her LIVE is a game changer for me! Miss Americana documentary lets you see her “as a person” and artist. Taylor took her fans through her highs and lows - loves and love lost and the heartbreak. This is something that humanized her to her fan base! IMO
Nice video. You have to understand this is 16 yrs of music.
To answer your question:
I’m much older, I’m almost 53. I never understood the appeal. I had heard her radio hits over the years, but never thought her hits equated to the amount of commercial and critical success she has. So, during pandemic, some of her content ended up on my UA-cam feed and I was slightly annoyed. Then I realized in order to understand, I needed to do a journey. She put out a surprise pandemic album called folklore. So I listened to folklore & it was unlike anything I had heard or that I expected. So I was intrigued and my journey began. It’s not one song that someone can request for you to understand, what I realized is that she is an album artist spanning multiple genres. You have to listen to an entire album to get it. I would say folklore. Then maybe you will be intrigued as I was & want to hear the evolution. In careers, their evolution as an artist should be noticeable, the songwriting, the experimentation, etc. you can see her evolution.
You may enjoy this Graham Norton episode where they talk about these “secret sessions”, it has John Cleese on the episode, it’s hilarious. She was still young, maybe 24-25.
And the song Ronan. She re-recorded it to put on her re-recorded album Red (Taylor’s Version) so Ronan will forever be protected & have a home with Taylor.
Best version to really get that song was the live one. And you are still young, friend.
There is this trend in the US which is quite stupid. Guys who like Taylor Swift or are swifties are looked down upon by alpha male. In my country India its cool to listen to Taylor. We have massive fan base here. And guys here are unapologetic about loving Swift. I am proud Indian swiftie.
Taylor Swift is popular because she is very talented. She is that kind of artist who write their own lyrics and who are involved in the production. She does write really good lyrics, as you said it's like poems. She is also very good at changing genres of her music. She also have a very good stage presence. Creatively, she is involved in everything she does: the music, music videos, tour... Since 2019 (her Lover album), she is directing her own music videos, and also made a short film for a song titled All too well (10 minutes version) which is on her re-recording album Red. All too well is a song that is 5 minutes, but originally it was 10 minutes, but she said she had to cut the song for it to be 5 minutes because her label didn't want a 10 minutes song on the album. But with the re-recording thing she released All too well 10 minutes version as a vault track (I suggest you to listen to the 5 minutes version before listening to the 10 minutes version, and also to watch a live for the song at the Ama's).
Now Taylor has wrote a script for a movie that she'll be directing. She is talented, and nice with her fans, that's why she is popular :)
I hope you're going to do some other reaction videos of Taylor on UA-cam! Thanks for taking the time to dive into her music!
Did all of Midnights
My professor actually used taylor swift as example how a musician will become a successful in the music industry. You will learn a lot by studying taylor swift life and career. I really loves her.
I think at some school (sorry to be so vague) they study her music as poetry. Universities create classes on pop culture all the time, but I was happy to see her appreciated in that way.
I don't get some guys. I am a 51 year old white guy and I am an OG fan from the beginning. Not only teens like her.
Taylor is very engaged online. She started out promoting herself on myspace.
Taylor is finally getting the respect she has deserved! To this day it amazes us her fans that people are surprise by her success. They just do not get it. Taylor writes about what we are feeling, but we cannot put it into words. That what she does the best! Whether someone likes her or not, they will give her respect. Swifties will not stand for it anymore. Rappers held back their albums because no one can compete with taylor. It is her world and we are living in it! Her tour will gross next year 1.2 billion dollars. That does not even include international dates! She put out 2 albums during the pandemic. Those were some dark times, and music is healing.
Folklore is the Album that defines her the best and All Too Well is the Song That Defines her Best
Absolutely. Both are masterpieces. Folklore is her best album but the 10 min version of "All Too Well" is still her finest song. In fact I think it's the greatest song of at least the last 25 years....
@@ZATennisFan completely agree.
@@ZATennisFan one of the best modern songs and it’s amazing how it’s still possible to make musical masterpieces of music that belong with old classics. All Too Well 10 min is getting there.
@@noitsbecky.4291 I thought the original version of All Too Well was sheer song writing perfection and then she dropped the 10 min version???
Taylor switched genres quite a lot in her career and each album has its special color, so it's hard to say what could be someone's big "swiftie" moment. But Love Story (she wrote in 15min) made her a worldwide success, then there is Blank Space. Swifties often favor the deep cuts, not singles.
To be honest, I became a fan of her character first. Kinda like "she is a good person sure, but why is she big? let's listen to this freaking album" and the rest is history.
You should google Taylor swifts letter to Apple, she wrote them to explain why she was holding back her album from there streaming service and pulling her albums off of Spotify,, basically she was being a voice for the new artists that would not be paid royalties from there music during apples 3 month free trial of Apple Music, she ends the note saying we don’t ask you for free iPhones please don’t ask us to give you music at no cost, this letter was brilliant
Really cool reaction, guys) I am a big fan of 1D and Taylor, and it would be fantastic if you'd want to react to her more. The thing with Taylor is that no matter what production she puts in the song, the lyrics are always killing! Her songs often coinside with her life, so it would be really cool if you react to her documentary Miss Americana or a fan-made video "The carefully crafted narrative of Taylor Swift" - it's really good, and gives an inside of her music, life and career( sorry for possible mistakes, english is not my first language)
This was a cool video but I don't think it answered your question fully... TS is an incredibly savvy businesswoman and has really pulled numbers based on how she plays the game. Her re releases of albums always come with 5+ new songs so you get fresh content. She sells high because she makes the merch a game and customized. She puts tons of Easter eggs in her music: she is always referring to old or upcoming content, so her old music ALWAYS feels relevant - fans feel connected on a much larger scale (rather than "oh this is a good song", its "whoa did she just refer to this thing from this song eight years ago ?!", etc). I'm a Swiftie since high school (I'm now in my late 30s) & Red was the album that hooked me hard(I highly recommend you check it out). I'm ride or die at this points lmao. Great reaction guys, I'm gonna go check out your album reaction right now!! 👍
Don't forget her giving back through charities, she donated large amounts of money to local food banks in every city her eras tour played at, this on top of her other charitable contributions and work...she also tipped the truck drivers, (50 of them), of her eras tour one hundred thousand dollar bonuses (each), and over 55 million dollars to the rest of the people who worked with her on the eras tour...she actually cares about others
I think what also helped push the album sales was the fact that the album got leaked and fans were trying to cover up the leaks. And they shows love towards her by listening to the album legally. It also was her first pop album ever since her “alternative” era and she gained lots of fans during that time
Well, I can say what made me a Swiftie (besides she’s being an amazing person): her talent in storytelling. She can change the musical genre, but her lyricism is out of this world. What she achieved with folklore/evermore is 🤯. Btw, that’s another reason for her success: her writing her own songs (very rare in the pop field).
Agree, she’s a wonderful storyteller bc her lyrics are fantastic, it’s like you’re right there in the song, so relatable
Fan since 2010, shes pretty versatile in terms of music. She started off as country(debut, fearless, speak now, red) then ventured into pop(1989, reputation ,lover and midnights) then into indie/folk ish(folklore and evermore)
Whats more impressive is that she has song writing credits on every single song since the start(She wrote the entire speak now album alone) . Shes argubly the best songwriter this generation(at least for mainstream). Speak now, Red(Taylors version) folklore evermore and midnights contains most of her best songwriting imo. Some of my absolute favs that you guys can check out is..
All too well 10mins from RED TV
Exile/my tears ricochet/cardigan from folklore
Last kiss/ Dear John from Speak Now
Happiness/Champagne problem from evermore
Though I would highly recommend checking out all albums tracks as well because all her albums are solid work of art
i think you should listen to her song “all too well (10 minute version)”
Folklore and reputation are probably the most fave albums amongst fans! Such great bodies of work
You can listen to her albums
- fearless (Taylor's version)
- speak now
- red (Taylor's version)
- reputation
- lover
- folklore
- evermore
she wrote many catchy songs.
I'd say 80% of her songs are catchy and smart.
I listen to hers over and over again without anyone forcing me.
Immediately caught my attention when I hear her music, I was listening to Red, then I thought " wow, all of the songs are catchy and good from first to end ", then I listen more and more of her music. 😍😇
Just Listen to her song ALL TOO WELL!!! That's The Song That Defines Taylor Swift To Every Single Person Who Has Never Heard Her
I'm glad you didn't title this video as someone's fan reacting to Taylor's music. I hate clickbaits. To your remaining question, her staying power comes from writing her own songs. Even when she has co-writers, she always wrote the entire song before she brings in other people. Some people thought she didn't write her songs so on her 3rd album "Speak Now", she decided to write all the songs by herself just to prove the naysayers wrong. But I highly recommend listening to the 10-minute version of All Too Well from her 4th album Red. The first version (5-minutes) came in 2012. She has a co-writer on that but even that person admitted she was only brought in to help shorten the song, lol. Well fellas, I just subscribed & liked. Looking forward to your next videos.
Yeah I think the overall song that we recommend to get into Taylor will always be All Too Well (10 minute version) it recently broke the record for longest song to hit #1 dethroning a 50 year streak by American Pie by Don McLean.
It’s only fair to tell you “All Too Well” (10 min or 15 min short film) is a heavy song, but an emotional masterpiece. I don’t suggest the SNL performance. “I bet you think about me” is definitely part of Red (TV) that is still country. It’s an upbeat option with a funny video. The song shows a lighter side of Taylor & her lyrics are pretty witty.
As far as Taylor’s overall success, I think it’s due to her beginning in country music. Storytelling is deeply rooted in the history of country music & is still a part of traditional country music. A song should have a beginning & an end, with telling you everything that happened in between. Taylor was such a strong writer from the beginning with her attention to detail & creative style. Taking that method of songwriting to a completely different genre really made her talent stand out from the rest of mainstream pop. She’s so descriptive, you can see it, feel it. Funnily enough, I don’t even really like country music so this is just random info only good for a pub quiz Ig.😂
But wait there’s more (no way are you reading this thesis):
1. I found your channel bc of Louis
2. I subbed bc I’d love to see more Louis that I can’t afford to ask for
(Written All Over Your Face, live performance in NY, _hint, hint_)
3. I’m watching a bunch of your reactions now bc you’re both so funny & I love the banter. Your honest opinions are thoughtful, too. Not every song is great.
4. I’m going to be that person who writes essays in your comments. It doesn’t stop. Sorry. 😬 I have no expectation for you to bother reading all that.
You will amaze more on her songwriting if youll react to her folklore album that won album of the year too at the grammys
We started folklore. Join our twitch for future reactions
Yeah she is really wholesome, just to add something she is one of the only artists who doesnt make the fans pay for the meet and greets. Its just her mother Andrea who goes around the concerts picking out people who she sees are really giving it their all, or have original costumes, etc and she tells them to go after the concert to meet taylor and that's it. BTW folklore and evermore are my favourite lyrically and speak now and red are really good pop/rock/country records
I wasnt really a fan of taylor I mean I listen to her songs I liker her and adore her but folklore and evermore man those 2 albums changed my life and I am now a hardcore swiftie and one of the reason why she is that big is that she wrote all of her songs which is very rare nowadays for popular mainstream artist.
What to listen to: start w her 3 AOTY, each is a different genre. Fearless, 1989, folklore. That covers country, pop, indie/alternative.
Hello guys, thank you so much for giving Taylor your time to know her. I kindly recommend to also watch the Carefully Crafted Narrative of Taylor Swift that tells her journey as an artist and how she tells her story in each album.. or what we call ERA.. her transition from country to pop, how the public see her as an artist/human....Here's the link: ua-cam.com/video/w2XtejIt4p8/v-deo.html.. there's also a part 2 of this video (ua-cam.com/video/sWXeMQk4bCI/v-deo.html) if you are interested as well. It is about her retelling her stories (rerecording her old albums). Again, thank you so much 🥰
Agreed! hope they're gonna do a reaction video to these too
Thanks for warning us not to offer here on YT a recommendation of her works. Saved me lots of time and effort. Didn't say anything about me being a sarcastic smart ass though, did it? So there's that, and here's that. 🤔😀
Braun used equity capital to buy Big Machine Label Group; it was Scott Borchetta of Big Machine that didn't sell her the masters (bc, it was the biggest asset his company owned). Taylor left Big Machine in 2018 in part because they wouldn't negotiate with her for her music, and went to Republic Records. Then, when Braun bought Big Machine in 2019, her masters -- along with real estate, employees, studios, and a LOT of other music -- became part of Braun's little empire. It got even stupider -- Big Machine management tried to stop Taylor from performing her own songs during the AMA;s (She was the Artist of the Decade), and to block her documentary (Miss Americana) because it used a lot of music and behind the scenes footage from when she worked for them. More Joy: Braun had became a promoter for Kanye West in 2015. West has made an industry out of attempting to embarrass or humiliate her in public.
Watch Journey to Fearless it's a Documentary concert, that really tells you who Taylor is, and it's a good introduction to her music.
All too well (10 minutes version) is one of her greatest songs
Agreed. We loved it
Listen to Folklore and Evermore, that's one of the reason she's winning. *Even if people don't like her music, I wish they start appreciating her talent.
*Edited
We don’t like her music ? When did we say that ?
They like her music! They said that in several reactions. But I second the suggestion. They'd be so interested in reacting to Folklore and Evermore. It's hard to imagine anyong who wouldn't find those albums intriguing.
they like her music..
We’ve done 2 songs from Folklore. Currently on our patreon
@@WelpHereWeAreOnUA-cam will you upload them on youtube?
27:27 that's a meme lolllll
Her 1st 3 albums are Taylor Swift Self Titled is her 1st album, 2nd is Fearless (this one won her 1st album of the year) her 3rd is Speak Now and I think the 4th is Red. She has won album of the year 4 times which is a phenomenal accomplishment, surpassing the Beatles and now holds the record. I just watched a documentary of all the Grammys she won, and all the other awards, so damn many it’s eye popping. I’ll find it again to tell what it is. 🇨🇦🇨🇦 Found it .. Taylor Swift SUPERSTAR-- Full Documentary, some overlap of what we’ve seen before, but very little. Enjoy!!
folklore is considered the magnum opus of her career.. so maybe try that one? its the first time where everyone seems to be in the same room for her music. as for the fans, it could be red with the all too well 10 mins version because it was never a single but her fans love that song so much
Listen to All too well 10 minutes version ! pls thats the one.
you guys should watch her documentary on netflix with us in your next video 😌
If you want amazing lyrics, FOLKLORE and EVERMORE are the ones to listen to… I also recommend RED (Taylor’s version)… it’s more of a pop/country album with hints of rock in certain songs… if you want pure pop I recommend 1989 or REPUTATION 😊
Red (Taylor's version) will give you a more comprehensive of Taylor Swift's rise, and then any songs you can from Folklore. A true artistic arc.
She also sent $3000 to about 20 of her most in dire need fans during covid. Now lots of artists could easily have afforded that, however how many did?? We will definitely cut many bitches for T Swizzle🤘🏻
31:50 most people avoid saying SA in full in courtesy for the viewers not to trigger any potential trauma.
Btw another one I remember that the video didn't include was the donation to a single mother of 5 kids who just lost their breadwinner dad to Covid. The mother made a gofundme and when she went through the record of donation, she saw a huge amount was donated under the name Andrea & Taylor (Andrea Swift is her mom) and shared it to social media.
You guys check out her speech at Billboard woman of the decade award. She has talked about her career there.
This is great
As a 64 year old male I am not necessarily port of her demographic but that is okay. I have been a fan for quite a few years. My introduction was seeing the youtube video of her performance of "Ronan" for a Stand Up to Cancer fundraiser. It had me in tears and of course I became curious about her. I like her creativity, intelligence, immense talent, kindness and her integrity.
I think that part of her early success besides her savvy use of Myspace and her blogs was that she was writing songs from a teenage girl's experience. It is a niche that is mostly ignored in a society that is dismissive of teenage girls. And her audience could relate to what she was singing about.
For me, I appreciate that she is a concept album artist. She doesn't just write a single and a bunch of throw-away songs. I, personally, really enjoy her live acoustic performances like the Grammy Museum performances. Another video that is low quality but, in my mind, shows her talent is "Taylor Swift honors Alan Jackson w/acoustic version of "Where Were You?"" on youtube. Anyway, enjoy the rabbit hole if you decide to jump in.
All Too Well (10 Minutes Version) is the Song That Defines Taylor Swift. You'll get the idea who she was the artist back than
Just pick an album and start. I love them all!
Folcklore/Evermore, Speak now, Red (Taylor's version) - so many amazing songs!
I would go listen to Taylor at the Grammy Museum (2015) Inteviews Part 1-3 , Taylor Swift "Making of a Song" Series (2018) or Taylor Swift Storytellers concert (at Harvey Mudd College 2012) where she explains how/why she wrote the songs she performs at that concert
To start with All too well 10min version. She did a short film.
I feel like the reason why Taylor swift is winning is because she connects to her fans in ways other artists do not! She writes lyrics that connect to so many peoples lives, and even though she is one of the biggest stars on this planet she is just like the average person. She is so down to earth, cares about others, she’s insecure like every one else and struggles in her real life in certain areas of her life, she shares this vulnerability with all of us just like she opens up a personal journal into her life to us! She also stands up for serious issues she feels strong about like voting, eating disorders, sexual abuse, gay rights, how men are treated vs how women are treated in society, women’s rights, etc. she donates millions of dollars to charities around the world and treats her staff and crew with so much respect giving them huge bonuses for their hard work. These are the things that show true character. These things make her fans love her and her fans will back her no matter what especially because for as much love she gets she has had the media and certain individuals like Kim & Kayne, her own managers Scott and scooter Braun take her down in ways that nobody should experience. So Swifties have her back and support her because she is one of the hardest working individuals, she has humongous talent, is brilliant as a writer, business woman and a shining example of what a role model should be! More than the awards she has won and the money she makes, these thing make her a winner, and he can list grow as people like you two share these reactions with others and really how can you not like Taylor or at least have respect for her once you give her and her music a fair chance! Thanks for your reaction!❤
thank you for watching
Taylor's contribution to the music industry was one of the topics that was not covered in this topic. Previously, artists were not paid adequately for their songs on music platforms. You know how there are free trials for new users on music platforms? Those actually affect artist payments until Taylor intervened. I believe there are people who despise Taylor because they like other artists. It's as if they're pulling Taylor down so their idols can be alone at the top. It's amusing because they were most likely unaware of Taylor's letter to Apple and Spotify. Basically, those letters and battles she had with those massive music platforms are something that every artist can benefit from. She did it for smaller artists so they can get every penny they deserve from their songs on Spotify and iTunes, but it is also the reason why big artists earn more from their songs on every platform. There are literally no reasons to dislike her.
Also, I believe her fans (including myself) are protective of her because she has been the target of hatred for the most inane reasons. It's as if we're already sick of unnecessary hatred directed at her. (However, there are some fans who does go overboard lol)
Plz react to her 5 most Universally Acclaimed Albums such as Folklore & Evermore (these two r indie folk genre and r considered sister albums, Folklore won Album of the Year at the 2021 Grammys which made her the 4th artist & the only female artist to win AOTY thrice), Red (Taylor's Version) (this is a mix of Country/Pop-Rock genre which 8ncludes the iconic song All Too Well (10 Minutes Version) This is the longest song to hit #1 on the BB hot 100 chart history), 1989 (Deluxe Edition) (The genre is Synth pop....This is her best selling album of all time, it's also the most awarded Pop Album of all time including Album of The Year at 2016 Grammy awards) & Speak Now (This is mainly Country genre but with a mix of Rock elements... She's the sole writer of this album there r no other co writers she wrote the whole album by her self at the age of 19 and Sold over 1M copies in a week & got 2 Grammies for it).
Folklore
Evermore
1989
Red (Taylor's Version)
Speak Now
things get blocked to try and keep me trapped in this damn vault, to bring me down
Don’t forget Ryan and Nathan, Taylor has 300 million followers on Instagram. I don’t know her followers numbers on twitter. But 300M is crazy.

To answer your question about the ultimate Taylor song, its All Too Well. Easily her Magnum Opus without debate, any time there's a list ranking Taylor's songs All Too Well is always at the top of the list. It was originally released as part of her Red album back in 2012, after the release of the album she mentioned that the song originally started out being 10 minutes long but she had to cut it down to make it a normal length song and the fans begged for almost ten years for her to release the full version. After her masters were sold out from under her, she remastered the Red album and included the full 10 minute version of All Too Well as a thank you for the fans, she also made a Short Film music video for the song and it's gone on to win VMAs, AMAs, it's nominated for several Grammys this coming year and there's potential for the Short Film to be nominated for an Oscar as she did a limited theatre release and has been showing it at film festivals. All Too Well is a jewel in the crown of Taylor's career
Theres a new 2022 documentary about how she started her career, its on amazon video
Thanks for the info!!

I think Red (Taylor's Version) is the definitive Taylor Swift album. If you want to know what makes her great, that album will give you the answer.
listen to all too well
Listen to Ronan, Blacky mentioned it
TAYLOR SWIFT FANBASE ARE VERY DEDICATED!
Where can i find the reaction to midnights?
On patreon
I'm an older TS fan who "used to" really like her, but I kinda lost touch when she went full pop. What a mistake! What turned me back on to Taylor is "Folklore". I would recommend you start there...the lyrics are incredible (as usual)...and it will give you a sense of her lyrical , storytelling style that resonates with so many.
I like Folklore so much, I couldn't help but go back and check out the pop albums and, though pop may not necessarily be for everyone, her lyrics are nothing short of incredible on 1989 and Reputation.
I'm commenting for you guys, specifically, because you're just a wee bit younger than me and I know, once you hear Folklore and Evermore, you'll be full-on Swifties :)
Also, I wholeheartedly recommend you WATCH Folklore: The Longpond Studio Sessions (on Apple TV) rather than just listen to the album. She talks about each track and then performs it with her co-creators in a really laid-back vibey way. Also, make sure you turn on the closed captions :)
You actually have 754 subs.
We are grateful to them all :) Thank you for watching:)
What the heck??? So here I am watching Taylor Swift content and I see a black shadow figure run behind Nathan @ 15:39 - 15:50 and @ 16:17 - 16:19 at the bottom of where the mic is.
Haunted house
22 is only a classic song if you had/have yet to turn 22 years old lol.
