Been following you for about 1 1/2 years. I was happy to see Izzy join you. I was a Peace Corps volunteer many years ago and brought home a Latina as my wife. That was 49 years ago and we are still going strong! Also, I was born and raised in Wisconsin even longer ago.
We wish Izzy the best! Wish we could have met her. People gotta do what they gotta do. If you're not true to yourself, you're not going to be happy. But she'll be missed.

Not surprised. Izzy is one of those free spirits, like back when I was young in the days of the Hippies. They also traveled around, joined communes, and were searching for "something." Most never found it and returned to the corporate world. Izzy did add a new dimension to Jake's travels. Hopefully when they both get over this stage of their lives they will meet again. I can relate, rg. I, too, was a free-spirited hippie back in the 60's and 70's. That morphed into a drug addict, convict and, mercifully, finally, a Spirit filled man of God who came to know the author and finisher of faith and love. What a long, strange trip it's been. In the end and forever, I am thankful to Yeshua (Jesus) who proved He is indeed the way, truth and life.
Hopefully they never get over this stage of their lives. I feel bad for those that end up settling for a cubicle.
Basically, I agree, but at some point one has to start planning for financial support of raising a family and for old age, which in most cases means some time spent in the "rat race." Of course, a precious few of us are able to find that happy point where vocation melds with avocation so that all work is pleasure.
I hear ya r g. Interestingly, that's the very reasons I left the rat race. I got tired of bosses telling me when and if I can see my kids do this, go to an event, or be home for a holiday meal. That gave me the motivation I needed to leave the rat race and be a stay at home dad. That meant I could spend after school with the kids, and work in the middle of the night if I had to.
Nope, it's not easy. But the kids were what made me reach deep. Now that I'm an empty nester, it's even easier. :)

I didn't want to be negative so I never said this before but just watching Izzie's body language, I constantly got this impression of uncertainty and discomfort. On this final video none of that was present. Makes me think that she was rather ill suited for the lifestyle and was confused about it for most of the time we saw her onscreen. Then at the end she had her stuff figured out and you could see the happiness and confidence emanating from her. People do tell me I over analyze stuff so don't take me too seriously on this...
TheDamnSpot People tell me I over analyze too. However, I think that many people don't pay enough attention to the people and world around them. I didn't notice the body language you mentioned, but I always assume these videos tell an edited story so I probably analyze them less. In any way, the fact that you apply an above average level of attention to detail doesn't mean you're wrong.
I didn’t think it was a lifestyle suited for a girl. Its different for a guy. No bathrooms or regular showers and no space from each other.
Plus how can she make her own money if she can’t have regular job. Or see her friends and family. She is a trooper to do it for this long. The other girl had her own jeep and school plans etc going on which is very healthy.

I don't know about gender being a factor. Known a lot of girls who look cute and dainty but are tougher than rail road spikes. My ex is a thin wisp of a Russian girl but when we were living out of our car because of an earthquake, she did better than I. But I agree that there is a bad power dynamic going on. I doubt Jake ever made her feel like her voice didn't count but it's still hard to speak up when your partner makes all the money, owns all the gear, is the only one who knows how to get a lot of the necessities taken care of and has any idea about what to do and where to go next.

Issy handled herself much better than most ever could considering the amount of views and pressure on keeping those views IMO. Also kinda funny that she's doing peace corps as she does strike me as a save the world / pay it forward type. I hope to do that also as my co-worker just recommended I do that one my last day at a medical supply store and it seems like amazing experience. You go girl!

Two ways to look at this Jake. I do respect both of you for being true to your life's journey. And I am glad she was part of yours. On the other hand.. I'm positive you will find THE one along the way.
Man, that has to be tough. But, I admire that each of you were able to have enough love and respect for yourselves and for one another to make such a tough call. When you end up with each other again, you'll be more complete people for it!

Izzi I think your amazing! You both are. I have been watching from the start. I would have and still would disabled all comments on the videos. Just have a Q&A video every now and again where viewers can comment and ask questions so, people can ask real valuable questions and talk to you. You don't need anyone else's opinion, not even mine. Best wishes to Izzy. Life's journey brings many things and people into our lives. Rather than be sad over who goes in a new direction, be thankful for having had them for any duration of time. Those who are meant to be around, will be back. Onward and upward bro!
This was never going to last. Both come from different backgrounds and have different goals. They fell in love, YES, but they were living Jake's dream, not Izzy's dream. Izzy was slowly losing her identity, especially as she never said anything on-screen or she would have started gaining the love and admiration of some of the followers here and maybe even gotten about half or more of Jake's subscribers to also subscribe to her own channel, if she had an active one. She would have grown her own channel fast, if she had an active one and was talking on-screen.
Jake makes money while he is traveling. Izzy does not make money while she is traveling with Jake. So, it is costing Jake a lot more money to take care of both of them (oh, plus Annie), while Izzy probably finished all her small savings while on the road. So Izzy may at some point become dependent on Jake for money for a small thing like soda. Not a good feeling! She becomes a liability at that point. Izzy was just there for the ride and had to do whatever Jake wanted to do. And very little of what she wanted to do. She truly was losing her identity.
It is time to part ways. She has her own goals in life.
She is FREE now. Go out to the world, explore and write YOUR own story Izzy.

I am just getting back to coming here and visiting Jake and Annie from when Izzy first joined the trek. I had posted again and again asking if Izzy would be posting a video introducing herself and bringing herself into the fray, but nothing ever came. I lost interest quickly and... well here we are all this time after. I have more to catch up on, but with Izzy gone, maybe we can get back to banana pancakes and Jeep adventures.

I have a Georgian (country) daughter whose life was changed by a friendly American Peace Corps that without him I never would have met my daughter and still a mentor to her now.
