From previous comments advise I cleaned out the tracks first with water and white vinegar, wiped them down then sprayed silicone wd40 in the tracks, let it sit for 5 mins, wiped it off and now my passenger side goes up faster than the driver side😂gonna have to do the other one now to even them out! Thank you so much, I was ready to take the whole side door panel off😊
If you have access to high power air pressure, blow your tracks out a bit , loosen any surface loose dirt off before application of lubricant 👍😉
Cleaning the tracks first is an important step. 👍🏼
I am glad you are using a silicone based WD 40 rather than the Petroleum based WD 40! I am a retired Ryder mechanic and since 2000 WD 40 petroleum base sprays was BANED in all shops and I heard Penske shops as well. What you didn't add was to spray silicone spray on CV boots and the boots on rack & pinion steering ends as well. Silicone spray keeps rubber/neoprene components flexible.
not sure I understand why.............explain?
and Is this wd40 silicione spray special as opposed to other silicone sprays?
@@harryharry3193 petroleum based sprays deteriorate rubber/neoprene products and evaporates on wear surfaces many times in days! It was fine when there was nothing else in the 50’s when it came on the market but no more. Silicone spray with Teflon is the best in my book.
Omg, it worked 100%... I had previously spent $200 to try and fix my window. Sorry I didnt know about this, before I spent my money. Thank you so much for this video. Thumbs up.
I also spray this on the door hinges once a year before winter it helps lubricate very well👍👍
Silicone won't hurt your paint, fabric, etc. Also, a good idea to clean the rubber before applying silicone as it will adhere longer.
What about tinted on windows?
Spray on the vertical tracks only, not the top.
The upper part sometimes sticks to the window, risking to snap the regulator cable, so you can spray it also
@@adrianslk1 exactly! I had to buy one of the clips that hold the window attached to the regulator precisely because the driver window got stock on the upper part of the door since the driver side switch is automatic I just could not react to stop it and I just heard something cracked inside the door. A good answer of yours
And you can take the towel with the silicone on it and wipe down your door and trunk rubber seals with it. It will help keep them in good shape.
I think spraying on the upper horizontal track is not a good idea. It will add the lube to the glass edge when closing, and those lube will be transferred to the bottom edge when closing, and when re-opening its gonna spread over the entire glass. You will have a greasy glass which will take weeks to fully recover. It happened to me. So don't do it, it's gonna mess your shutters.
From what I understand, their spray is dries to a filmy layer as apposed to being traditional greasy/oily silicone. I guess this particular formulation is better for tracks, wheels.
Tip: After running window completely open / closed, 'bump" it slightly to take the pressure / binding off the mechanism, motor will last alot longer not being bound up. Or don't . . . ☆
Works great on windshield wipers blades
I see you watch Scotty kilmer videos too. 😁👍
This silicone spray and Teflon/dry lubricant spray contain petroleum distillates, which breakdown rubber. Only use a silicone grease after cleaning window guide channels.
If you clean the top of you window glass it would help as well
I cleaned the vertical runners first with hand sanitizer (70% alcohol) on a cloth before spraying WD40 silicone down those same runners. Works an absolute treat. Standard WD40 only last a week so not worth the effort.
I also use to do it but 1st I take a flat screwdriver with some small towel and clean this edge from dirty before I add silicone 👍
Thank you- be safe and God bless
That's good and it works, but is unnecessary to spraying on the top, just spraying on the sides is fine to roll up and down👍
My only gets stuck on the top
@juniortsf especially in winter.
Why did you spray the top?
Do you have to do it on all the windows? What about the trunk? Will the trunk open faster?
Planning On Getting Some My Electric Windows Are Going up and down Slowly!! Thanks for The Video!!
I do not use silicone i use Dry lube on my windows and i include the top of the door track as well and i give it 2-3 minutes to dry and if it snows then gets cold the windows do not freeze to the door track because Dry lube will repel the water, and because it is a dry product the windows do not get oily.
Great Video!! Daniel, Going to Do Try This Stuff On My Power Windows Window Tracks.👊
All I can see is mostly the ground and the towel or the car across the street 😕
this does work it helped some but i have one window that goes a little slower i think its the motor i used the same stuff as in video
Should clean the tracks with a long skinny brush first to clean the grime before spraying this may help
I use this on my girlfriend, she`s sooo smooooth now.......
Can we see a video?
I'll try this...
Meanwhile, may I recommend coconut oil?
That's funny I've used it on yr gf as well
She always was ………
Hahahaha. nice one
WD40s PTFE dry lube maybe better choice
Also, clean the tracts with a screw driver and shop towel 1st THEN use the WD40 PTFE dry lube.
I saw a detail guy actually clean the tracks first with rain x water replant. Then use the wd40 spray. You could really see the difference. It seems to me that it’s a bit slower with cleaning the track first?
Tried it and it worked perfectly
What's the point in spraying the top?
my thoughts exactly!
Silicone helps keep rubber flexible and to last longer, works good on wiper blades, makes them last longer and work a little better
The cost is only $8 for spray and rags and problem fixed. Thank you.
Don't use standard wd40 it'll disappear existing grease and attract grime
Nice video, easy and quickly. Thx u guys👍
I tried regular WD40,only worked for a couple of days I was surprised it didn't hold up longer, but I'll give the WD40 SILICONE a try, thanks for the info...
WD40 oil dries up, silicone oil coats surfaces with a water- & heat-resistant thin lubricating film that last for months/years.
@@marinduque-theheartoftheph Silicone is most definitely the way to go.
I hear regular WD40 is bad for seals and silicone is recommend.
Pete Puebla
Agreed 😎
Wd40 is a water displacement fluid. Not a lubricant. It is volatile and evaporates leaving a dry and clean surface, not lubed
This is advertising for silicon spray that only works for a couple of hours. The silicon will drain completely after that. The only product that works for this purpose is a dry lubricant that will last months. You will see the difference.
Is there specific brand you care to recommend. Is dry grease like jigaloo? Maybe rustcheck?
Spray some down the inside of the door track at front with window down.
Quick question: Since you made a concerted effort to protect everything with the towel (very good), why did you then wipe up the silicone and smear it over the interior AND exterior of the door?
Better idea is to just clean the vertical tracks using cleaner and a towel wrapped around a screw driver.
I just did this it helped a ton.
What about after market window tint? Any issues?
I did not do a proper clean beforehand, although it was pretty clean to begin with. It worked great on good working windows... After few days, started slowing, jaming up the rubber seals, squealing. I cleaned off, wiped with wd-40 original and wiped dry. Works good again. I do not recommend. These rubber seals I found out should have dry clean surface for optimal operation.
You are right, look into a rubber seal silicone grease to keep the door rubber soft and supple. For my car, Honda recommends Shin-Itsu (silicone grease). www.amazon.com/Honda-Genuine-Shin-Etsu-Grease/dp/B006Z9TZ9M
Use vaseline all around door seal rubbers.then with windows wound down.do the seals around them to
I have to get some of that!!!
I'm going to try this trick thanks
if you do not service these rubbers guilds the window motor will have a big load of current draw i would think and burn up i would think... great video...
What if you have frameless doors
Thanks!
Why do top of window?
Martin Jimenez you can probably get away with doing the sides.
Thanks so much daniel great tip
Does the 3 IN 1 silicone spray works as well?
yes
Hell sir, can i used this spray for my tire to make black??? Gracias
I just bought a can today. My windows are going down very slow, and getting hung up on the rubber mouldings. Hope it works..
@Brneyz619 Woods...let us know how it worked out.
No cleaning before adding silicone on all the dirt and grime?

It's effect the tinted on windows?
Thank you for the information. Very helpful.
The only concern is that silicone will collect dirt. Maybe better to use a dry lubricant?
Thank you. 👍
Will it affect window tint film?
Nope, I’ve done my windows a couple times since then and my tint is fine.
I use dry lubricant.. a powder.
I wouldn't bother doing the horizontal or slanted tracks. Just clean them out with compressed air. They're only inhibiting the window movement for the last inch or less going up or down. Waste of spray and can be messy doing the horizontal's.
Do you need to spray any cleaning sort of spray first to get rid of any dirt etc?
You mean cleaning the area with some windex? You can do that, nothing wrong with that.
Great! But what if your windows struggle to go up/down, and you have a convertible 2-door, that has no tracks, like you are showing?
If you have no tracks holding it down your motor could be going out.
The tracks are down inside the door.
@@gordbaker896 Yup, need to pop the door panels off.
Sell it
I have a corvette that was sitting for 3 years. when i went to put down either window they didn't go down. I heard something "clicking " in the door panel trying to operate but the window diddnt really budge downward at all. would this help or what could it be?
If it’s clicking and not moving you’re better off taking the door panel off and seeing what it could be. If it’s been sitting for three years it is possible something is keeping it from going down, especially if it’s clicking and acting like it wants to go down. Once you get that worked out spraying window seals won’t hurt it.
Thanks, works 100%🤗🙅♂️
I never see water resistant Silicone WD40, most WD40, new anyway thanks, doors inside panels damp by wet/wipe windows blade or I guess clean wet windows before down.
Yes,she is👍
謝謝,感謝分享!
What if the window doesnt go all the way down?
Sounds like a problem with the regulator or the motor clutch . I would just get a new motor assembly that comes with a new regulator and call it a day. Good luck.
Buy a new car
you didn't clean the track before applying new silicone lubricant. Nor did you clean and lubricate the windows regulator mechanism. to do this correctly you need to remove the door panel.
dang thats a lot
hey i went to college how come your teaching me things oh cause your smart to
Do you know if the oil will damage the tint?
Mine is still ok
Great video, but I think you used too much. A couple sprays worked for me and running the window up and down a couple times to run it through.
Warning: Using a towel to cover and protect your interior door panel and exterior paint: GREAT IDEA....Using THAT SAME TOWEL NOW SOAKED IN THE SILICONE to wipe down your door panel and exterior paint: DUMB DUMB DUMB....Use a clean towel!!!!!!!!
Wow
That window stills sounds like it is struggling to close
4:00, no it's not. 😂 still struggling.
huong dan chai tam vai
How many time you lube it up
Just one good spray should do it.
@@DanielsCarTalkChannel so that is it you don’t lube it every year
@@petermuniz9296 yah once a year before the rain/snow comes
Would lithium grease also work?
Use silicon grease on rubber. That's safe
It would attract dirt and make matters worse in the long run.
Silicone not demage plastic and paint.
you should clean the tracks first
It sounds like this window motor is weak and need to be replaced
Pwede malaman san nabibili ito dito sa pilipinas. Thank you sa reply po
Thess Cabana looks like it is available, hope this helps

In what interval should be it applied? For preventive maintenance.
Lyle Bacar once a year will be fine if you use water resistant spray.
@@DanielsCarTalkChannel thanks bro! I will buy that wd40 today hehe
Any WD 40 will do..normal type
it shorted mine out.
👍👍👍
Can i use dw 40?
WD 40 i mean
It might help temporarily but to make it stay on with the rain best way to go would be the water resistant spray.
Don't use it - petroleum based lubricants may destroy the rubber seals. It's best to use silicone as it's safe to use on rubber and plastic.
Are you asking because you've already got a can of WD40 laying around and you don't want to spend the money buying Silicone spray?
04 dw good 👍
'this particular project' LMAO
Who sprays the top?
I csnt see what you're spraying😢...I just see your hand, the can & outside the window.
I think because you are holding the camera AND doing the spraying.😢
how can u fuck up ur car doing this....
મોટાભાઈ ઉપર ની બાજુ ના સ્પ્રે ના લાગતો હોય ચાલતો યાર
I used wd 40 but it was not a silicone one..... I encountered the same problem after 3 or 4 days
Why do the fucking top
Haaa thanks for how to video, but (slowly not slow though ).
I try before Same shit
i wont do it bo bo
Your responsible?? What you did is so basic that a ten year old know that!
Hey, it’s not my fault some people could mess up a glass of water, also a 10 year old also knows how to write a sentence with proper spelling and grammar.
Pretender doing simple things look complicated. Your grammar is worse than your car knowledge. Newbies.
To much 👎👎👎
