    I have the 7.3. I dont tow much and this engine is plenty capable, $10K + less, no DEF, less fuel, oil, filter cost. And the 7.3 is actually quicker off the line until you reach 55 or so.

    I Just purchased the 2023 6.8L Gasser. First gas truck I have owned in over 6 years. So far I love everything about it. Smooth ride for a Super Duty truck. Don't need to tow super heavy loads and the Diesel in California is more expensive than regular gas. I cannot wait to take it for a long road trip. I have around 2300 miles on it right now.

      People are ate up with stupid about Diesel trucks.
      I am a retired truck driver and can tell you def problems are rampant screw a diesel for a everyday driver your asking for trouble.
      The 7.3 or 6.8 with the appropriate gear ratio for what your gonna do with the truck will be more than good for most. My buddy has had nothing but issues out of his 6.7 pulls his fifth wheel fine but constant issues with regen. Think he is gonna buy a gasser soon.

    Love the idea behind these videos but I think the question is too open ended. I would have loved it had you asked them “Based on reliability alone, if this were going to be the vehicle your business depended on, what engine would you choose and why?”

    I agree with almost everyone in the video. My 2021 F550 is the 6.7. It pulls a 40 foot gooseneck all week. It has 170,674 miles and has worked through 47 states. I also have a 2022 F350 srw, single cab with the 7.3 gas. I bought it to tow bumper pull toys. They are both perfect for what I use them for. And no other manufacturer compares.

    I honestly was going to buy the 7.3 gas 250 when I was shopping two years ago but I ended up buying the 6.7 diesel 250 mostly because resale value and reliability reputation. The power is incredible and surprisingly I get pretty good miles per gallon for a three-quarter ton diesel truck

    Having had a 6.7 - even tho it was a super early 2011, Job 1(Apr 2010 build) and 100% fault free, would still prefer that engine especially if we were hauling another 12K 5er. If it was a daily driver truck, I'd possibly opt for a 7.3 and save on the cost of that $8-10K diesel option plus that buck a gallon more for diesel where I live

    For regular driving, 7.3 no question. For towing, the 6.7, and it’s not the power, it’s the exhaust brake that makes the difference for me towing through the mountains. I wanted the 7.3 when I bought my 6.7, but I’m glad I got the oil burner.

  • @revgordon91
    @revgordon91 10 місяців тому +8

    So I've noticed that, for the most part, those who were a little older said the 7.3 while the younger crowd perferred the 6.7 "because of the power." If it were me, I would pick 7.3 also. I'm a suburban boy and if I can't tow it with an F-250 gas, I don't need it, or it's too expensive. On top of that, I'll never tap into the power available for that motor, and I don't want to deal with the maintenance associated with it.

    I’ve had both 6.2 gas and 6.7 diesel for work trucks with a new gas 250 on the way with I assume the 6.8. I work in the oil industry for a chemical company so we haul not tow. Unless I’m hauling over mountains the gas trucks usually do fine. The diesels have great power and torque but the cost is definitely higher maintenance. If I were looking to buy one with my own money for myself I’m probably going with the 7.3 because I don’t need the torque for towing heavy loads, lower maintenance costs, and even the 6.2 I was driving yesterday can get 16 mpg

That’s with most negative reviews on everything. To think that every 7.3 is failing is silly. Think about that for a second. There’s a 7.3 on every corner in my area of Texas.

    I’m surprised nobody said that they would order a diesel based on the fact that you can put many more miles on them versus a gas engine and if you wanted it to be, it could be the last truck you ever buy. Depending on many factors, and how it used however, that’s one of the biggest reasons I ordered mine with a diesel engine. I only occasionally pull heavyweight, but with the cost of trucks, and the way things are going politically with the push for going to electric vehicles, I’m picking the diesel.

    I’ve got a 6.8 and I love it so far. It’s been reliable, easy to maintain, plenty of power, no emissions bs, and I’m getting 19 mpg highway which is impressive for a gasser.
