    6th is great, well done. It's never a straight raid to the top. Despite this result you're still heading in the right direction!

    Very inspiring ! We all have off days. I think they are more interesting than super successful ones. Your dog is so cool! He doesn’t care how you finished, he loves you anyway!

    I know this was not the result you prepared for and yeah that hurts to have a setback like that but I can tell you that myself, and so many others really enjoy and learn from your productions. You and your wife do a great job of laying out what it takes to compete at that level. From the stretching, to the nutrition, the bike setup, the camera setup, the pre-rides, it all makes for a great viewing experience and in my eyes makes the placing secondary, at least from the viewers perspective. I have raced at that level, and later produced Pro Cycling videos in the USA and Europe, both are very hard, elite callings, and it often feels like no one is paying attention, especially in the wallet. You balance the two very well and do a stellar job. I really appreciate you and hope that you get the results that you deserve. Good luck at Unbound!

      Thank you sir! It’s a big undertaking to do the filming along side racing at this level, but I absolutely love it and need the filming and editing to fulfill the creative side of me! I believe it will lead to being able to do these two things full time in the future, just not quite there yet!

    Great race, the start of the race was the deciding factor. The first climb. Once that string broke, it was it. Like you said, finding yourself out of position.
    It's hard to get back and stay on. Great effort never wave the white flag.
    These races look like they are deciding in the beginning. The first group breaks off, and it's chase time for everyone else. Just my opinion. Anyway, congrats on 6th overall 👏

    expensive fun fact, when using SRAM 1x - to mitigate chain drop if you don’t want/cannot use the K-Edge full chain catcher - Ceramicspeed OSPW have multiple spring engagement points. Stiffest = less chance it will drop because the stock clutch mechanism on the SRAM derailleurs is not as strong as the GRX. Same applies if going mullet with the SRAM AXS Eagle derailleurs.
    send it!

    Flat top doesnt play well with the Helix cassette. Running an eagle xx1 chain would fix the issue.

    I had no idea you had compartment syndrome! I am actually considering getting the surgery myself. Do you feel like having the operation was worth it for you? Sounds like you didn't have a good outcome if you have been battling with chronic pain afterwards.

    • @jgoettl2.0
      @jgoettl2.0  6 місяців тому

      Hi there, yeah it was a pretty rough operation and they messed up a nerve in my right leg causing my foot to feel like it was burning and a constant stinging feeling in my big toe. The nerve pain was the hardest thing I’ve ever delt with and was pretty severe for 4 months. Still comes and goes but I don’t think of it much. With the compartment syndrome symptoms I’d say I was worse off even a year after surgery. However, I talked to ivar (winner of unbound 2 years ago) who also had it and has surgery and it went great for him. So it’s hard to say… but I would not do it again if I could go back. Best help I’ve found is finding where your limited in range of motion and body function and working on that. Also deep tissues massage paired with a liscensed acupuncturist who has the long needles that go deep into the muscles! If your in the Minneapolis mn are I know a person! Also have some good ones in the Salt Lake City area where I live now!

    Doing the hard sections on drops is kinda crazy

    • @efraer
      @efraer 6 місяців тому +1

      Being in the drops puts your weight a little lower and further back than on the hoods. It’s better for techy sections.

    • @rug212
      @rug212 6 місяців тому +1

      @@efraerI came here to ask that question myself. I’m a newbie and it seems being the drops would be more difficult in the techy sections. I guess I need to do some experimenting and practice that.

    • @efraer
      @efraer 6 місяців тому +2

      @@rug212It took me a little bit to figure it out, too. My background is road, MTB, with a little CX many years ago. I quickly found that being lower was better. Practice will give you comfort and confidence. 👍

    • @jgoettl2.0

      I have long fingers so I can reach the brake lever and feather it better with my pointer finger just as I do on the mtb and I feel my center of gravity is lower. On the hoods in singe track I just have a hard time with the brakes and feel too high up!

    • @jgoettl2.0
